Chirin the lamb -- free crochet pattern
Ravelry PDF download here for free!
February's pattern is the little lamb Chirin from the movie Ringing Bell (1978), also known as Chirin no Suzu. It's up for free on Youtube if you want to give it a watch, it's one of my favourite Japanese animated films, a tale of grief and revenge.
Soon it will be spring, and lambs will be born on the farms near my home. It's my mother's favourite time of year because sheep are her favourite animal, and we always enjoy seeing the lambs out in the field.
For a PDF (large text, dark mode variant available) that contains more pictures, the Ravelry link is above.
Pattern under cut.
Young Chirin stands about 20cm (8in) tall and can stand without support.
You will need DK yarn in the following colours:
- white (less than one ball)
- tan or light brown (less than half a ball)
- black (less than half a ball)
- yellow (small amount)
You will also need:
- a 3.5mm hook
- pins
- a darning needle
- stuffing
- scissors
This pattern was developed for DK yarn and a 3.5mm hook. It will probably work with other sizes, so long as the hook is a size smaller than the yarn label calls for to give the best amigurumi tension.
The parts are made separately and attached to the body by sewing. Assembly will be explained. The head and body are made in one piece.
There is some simple line embroidery later to add the nose and mouth.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
The legs overlap their ends. Done and pinned, see the breakdown below. Note the angled connection of the rear legs to the hips.
Assembly breakdown:
The front legs should be attached with their flaps at the shoulders so the openings fit into the curves. Attach high on the shoulder; there should be space beneath for both front legs.
The rear leg pieces should be assembled with the magic rings pointing downwards and the tail ends pointing up. The upper leg attaches atop the end of the lower leg, forming a familiar animal leg joint. Use the lower leg's tail to connect the pieces of the legs together and leave the upper leg's tail free for the hip joint.
To attach the rear legs, pin both legs firmly to the hips at an angle and check whether all the legs are level. It should be able to stand at this point if you place them correctly. If the legs are too floppy to stand, they may need more stuffing. When satisfied with the balance, sew them on.
The tail should be attached at the very end of the body, angled backwards and slightly upwards.
Bell Chain
In black/grey
Make a slip knot. Chain approximately 21, so you have a chain that loosely fits around Chirin's neck. Try it on before you attach it, because everyone's chains are a different tension.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When it looks okay, cut the yarn. Thread the ends into the bell, secure with knots, and hide the ends. The bell can be sewn down to keep it from swinging, if desired.
Now all that's left is the head!
If the ears flap too much or stick out, secure the middle of the ear to the head. Some flapping of Chirin's ears is expected.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ears should be pinned horizontally along their open edge. The edge of the ear that is closest to the face should be pinned one stitch below and one stitch away from the corner of the tan. See photo.
The eyes should be attached one stitch away from the top edge of the face, approximately 4 stitches between them. For best results, sew on the white edge with a white tail, and the black edge with a black tail.
Make sure the eyes are looking in the same direction! Otherwise he'll end up looking quite dazed...
The embroidery is simple: using black yarn, sew a small and shallow V between the bottom of the eyes for the nose, and a curved line below for a gentle smile.
And done! Our lovely little lamb is finished. Hopefully nothing bad will happen to Chirin that changes his life forever. 🐺

I've been doing craft stuff (knitting/sewing/crochet) for yeeaars now and I've been going back through my old patterns to have a second stab at projects that I found difficult to see what I can make now.
Tell me why I JUST realised that the reason I was struggling so hard with a amigurumi booklet was because it was written in UK terms! I remember younger me was fighting for their life trying to get a shark to come out the correct size because I thought dc was a US dc.
I use metric/UK terms for everything but crochet since the US terms are more intuitive for me but like wow. At least I understand how to fix it now!

the dollar store did not have much for felt or fabric but i managed to scrounge everything i needed except for guz.ma's skin colour :(
i CAN make the janitor since they had a peach colour but I'll have to look around the house again to see if i can find anything that might work for guz's skin tone
#mannn dhfjfl unfortunately mother just did an amazon order the other day too#I could've added a bolt of the right colour felt to her order but i thought the store would have their big selection of felt sheets still 😭#they just had like... a big pile of felt and fabric all mixed together ?? idk what happened to their nice organized shelf :(#and they only had a little bit of felt fjdkdl it was mostly random patterned fabric#which would be fine and fun IF i had the skin bases done already bc then I'd just make silly little clothes for them#but unfortunately i need... the skin bases first fjfkfl to fit the clothing to#i dont have a good yarn colour for him either bc then I'd just crochet a base fhfkdl but AUGHH#I have ... acrylic paint thats the right colour or a little darker i think. and pillows that im going to use for stuffing#so maybe if i take the stuffing out of one of the pillows then i can dye the fabric with acrylic paint ...#I've done that before when i couldnt find the right colour fabric for a project a couple yrs ago#so i know it works decently well 🤔 depends on how sturdy the pillow material is i guess hmmm#i think i might have a spare white pillowcase if the pillow fabric itself isnt sturdy enough ... HMMM this might still be doable#theres nothing like having very little access to supplies bc of money and small town to inspire creativity LMAO#u learn how to do a lot of weird shit dbdhfkfl necessity inspires ingenuity or whatever the saying is#(with all that said - if anyone ever has a craft project theyre stuck on and want help figuring out how to do smth i may be of use LMAO)#dandy.cmd

“AT THE SAME DAMN TIME,” chap one, chapt two, chap three, chap four, chap five.
synopsis; After a messy, short-lived situationship with Stack—reckless, flirtatious, and all the wrong kinds of possessive—you swear you’re done with hood boys who can’t keep up. But when you drop something off at his mother’s store and find both Stack and his older twin brother Smoke inside, something shifts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bag was heavier this time. You made sure of it. No half drops. No quick getaways. You had enough of Ms. Moore’s coconut oil mix to last her through the end of the month—more than enough to justify walking back into her shop without looking like you were looking for anybody.
But you still smoothed down your shorts in the parking lot before heading in. The bell over the door jingled the same way it always did, but the air inside the beauty supply felt warmer this time. Heavy, like it was waiting for you.
Ms. Moore was behind the counter, tying her apron tight around her waist. Her locs were wrapped up in a printed scarf, earrings catching the light when she looked up.
“Aha, you back already? Didn’t take you long, huh?” You grinned, holding up the brown bag. “Didn’t want you to run out.” She raised her brows, clearly not fooled. “Mmhmm.” But before you could say more, your eyes shifted—and there they were.
Stack, propped up near the magazine rack with a toothpick in his mouth and that same cocky tilt to his smile. He looked you up and down, again, like you were a damn snack in a candy-colored wrapper. Smoke, seated low in the back corner near the bundle display. Elbows on knees. Eyes already on you. Cigar unlit but in hand like he’d been waiting to spark it with your name on his tongue.
Stack let out a whistle when you passed the counter. “Told you she’d come back,” he mumbled to Smoke. You rolled your eyes without turning around. “Told who?” Ms. Moore smirked like she didn’t hear them and gently pulled you to the side of the counter where her new hair oils were arranged.
“Now, this right here’s the new blend,” she said, opening a small jar. “Might even be better than what your auntie makes, but don’t tell her I said that.” You leaned in, letting the scent hit your nose. It smelled sweet. Warm. Like something you’d wear around a man just to make him lean in a little closer. Ms. Moore’s voice softened. “You know… Stack is really sorry.”
That caught you off guard.
“Huh?” She glanced over toward the boys—both still lingering, pretending to be busy. Her voice dropped lower. “He won’t tell me what happened between y’all, but he’s always talkin’ to Smoke about how sorry he is. Like, can’t let it go.”
You blinked, straightened slightly. “Really?”
Ms. Moore nodded, then immediately changed the subject before your heart could do something dumb. “Anyway, for your curl pattern, this’ll give moisture without all that heaviness. You been using heat on your ends, baby?”Before you could answer, the bell chimed again. A woman stepped in, holding a toddler on one hip and asking about crochet hair.
Ms. Moore snapped into business mode. “Come with me, baby,” she told the client, then to you: “I’ll be right back. Grab you a free sample from the basket, alright?” She disappeared into the back with the customer, leaving you standing in the center of the shop.
Alone.
With both of them. Stack moved first. “I ain’t know you still smelled that good,” he said, stepping close enough for you to catch his cologne. Something spicy. Overconfident.
“You still mad at me or you done bein’ dramatic?”
You opened your mouth to respond, but Smoke’s voice cut low behind you. “Why she gotta be dramatic?” he asked calmly. “She left ‘cause she knew her worth.” That shut Stack up for half a second.
You crossed your arms, turning just slightly to meet Smoke’s eyes. They held steady on yours, calm and full of something unreadable—but it heated your skin like sunlight through glass.
Stack smirked, mouth curling like he knew you were flustered. Smoke didn’t smile. But his gaze never moved. You rolled your eyes, grabbing a free sample just for something to do. “Y’all talk too much.” “You ain’t deny nothin, though,” Stack said. You turned to leave, chin high. “Didn’t confirm anything either.” The bell jingled behind you as you left, but the burn on your skin didn’t fade for blocks.
time jump; that evening
You sat cross-legged on Sevyn’s bed, picking at a loose thread in her comforter while she scrolled on her phone, bubble gum popping between her teeth. “You know that boy Jay throwin’ a pool party this weekend?” she asked casually. “The one from the old high school crew?”
You glanced up. “The one with the house on the west side?” She nodded. “Yup. Said it’s gon’ be a vibe. Real mixed crowd. I already know Stack and Smoke gon’ be there.”
You froze mid-thread pull. Sevyn’s eyes didn’t miss it. She smirked, scrolling past bikini ads. “We should go shopping tomorrow. You need somethin’ loud. Like… bitch-you-lost-me loud.”
“I’m not going to impress nobody.”
“Sure you’re not.”
the next day; bikini shopping.
The store smelled like new fabric and summer anxiety. You were flipping through racks when you heard a familiar voice from the next aisle over. Mary. Tall, white, shit almost pale, with her straight hair in a short bob and lip gloss shining like a damn light beam. You peeked past the rack and saw her laughing with her friends. “Girl, when Stack see me in this swimsuit?” Mary giggled. “He gon’ finally stop actin’ like he don’t want me. Watch. I know what that man like.”
Your throat tightened.
Your fingers froze on a cherry-red bikini.
Because if she was bold enough to say that out loud, she wasn’t bluffing. She either has him… or had already had him. And Stack had the nerve to flirt with you? You frowned, turning slightly away from the group. Tried to school your face into indifference.
But Sevyn walked up just then, holding two options—one neon green, one black mesh—and saw your whole mood.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, voice low, teasing. You shook your head. “Nothin’.” “Uh huh.” Her smirk deepened. “Must be nothin’ if your whole forehead wrinkled like that.” You snatched the red bikini off the rack. “Let’s just try these on.”
And you swore you didn’t care.
Even as your stomach flipped at the idea of Stack and Smoke seeing you in that two-piece. Even as your mind wondered who Stack had been kissing. Even as your heart, deep down, admitted that it hoped Smoke would be the one looking hardest.

summary: peter has been paying you visits as spiderman, doing and saying things he usually wouldn't when he's off the mask—like attempting to flirt with you. unfortunately, you find out who really is under his disguise.
-> mcu!peter parker x gn!reader, fluff, friends to lovers, mixed povs, peter is just a sweetheart, sudden confessions, good old misunderstanding (oh boy), peter rambles a lot, implications of reader liking plants, ( this is very self indulgent </3 so im sorry if he's a little ooc ) word count: 2,148 ( yes, its really long, ik )
[ 🎧 ] — (also had this song in mind while writing, so I'll just share it.) head over heels by the go-go's
Tumblr media
The sun is rising. Your cup is empty. School works are done. It's a Friday, and you don’t have any classes. Which means you finally have time to relax on your balcony. You prop your elbow down on the railing, thinking of things to do now that you’ve been given a free day.
You can read that book you’ve been meaning to finish a month ago—or has it been two? Then again, you also have that unfinished crochet project you decided to do. But the problem is you forgot if you ever saved the pattern for it. Then there’s also the elephant in the room, the thing that haunts you every time you step inside your apartment. The vase your last roommate left. You’ve been meaning to give it back to her—you promised. But things got busier ever since. The last time you had free time was probably earlier this year, and yet you were still working on your thesis.
You turn your head, staring at the vase. It's ironic how much it grew on you. You thought it didn’t fit the color scheme of your living room at first. But the more you saw it, the more it seemed to fit right in. Until, eventually, you decided that you like it. And, yes, maybe that’s part of the reason why you can’t bring yourself to return it. Your last roommate also never mentioned it again after. So, you assume she just forgot about it entirely. Hopefully.
Your train of thoughts are interrupted when you hear movements, mostly the sound of something—or rather someone—webbing around. You turn your head back in front of you, then to your left, and your right, until– “Good morning.” A familiar voice comes from behind you, making you yelp from surprise. “Fuck, You can’t just sneak up on people like that!” Normally, when you get approached by the Spider-man, in all his red and blue spandex glory, you don’t really greet him with a yell and proceed to curse him out. But, in your defense, who even gets visited by him this early in the morning? Apparently, you do!
“Sorry, I thought you’d be used to me. ‘Cause I am.” He walks, with his body facing you, hoisting himself up to sit on the railing. The whole time you followed him with your eyes, your brows raised out of curiosity. “No? I’m still trying to put my head around the fact that you choose to travel all the way here just to talk to me.” He shakes his head, waving his hand, dismissively. You feel the corner of your lip twitch. For someone who wears a mask, he’s certainly expressive. “You’re special.” He shrugs, his voice sounding a bit too soft and sincere, surprising you. You prop your chin down on your hand, staring at him. “I’m special?” You seem to have flustered him as he shrugs—once more—and turns away. As if you would even see the way his cheeks turn pink.
“Well, you know..” He clears his throat, tilting his head to the side, unsure with his words. You let out a chuckle, he turns to you again. He does this a lot, the moment you do something to counter him, he stumbles a few steps back. It’s adorable and reminds you of Peter, somehow.
“I think you’re great company. And you listen to me when I talk a lot.”
“Yeah, you ramble quite a lot, don't you?”
“I mean I get plenty of thoughts when I come over to see you.” This time you tilt your head to the side. “What kinds of thoughts?” The realization, that what he said might've been weird out of context, hits him like a train and he immediately shakes his head. “No, no, no. Not like weird thoughts. You know, like, uhm– You’re so cool! And I like the perfume you’re wearing today. Little things like that.” You purse your lips, holding back your laughter. You don’t know if his rambling really is entertaining, or maybe you just have it bad.
To be fair, it has been a few weeks since you started meeting him like this. You remember the day of your first encounter. He accidentally knocked down the plant on your balcony, and you caught him fixing it—or trying to hide the evidence that it was broken—then he offered to help however he can. You insisted, but he showed up later that night, dangling outside your window, with a new pot. It was the most baffling thing you’ve ever witnessed. And he helped you transfer the plant too. From then on, he frequents your balcony more than you do, and even waters your plants. Even though you didn't ask him to, you still appreciate him for it.
You don't know what you did to have caught his attention. You convinced yourself that maybe he really is just your friendly neighborhood Spider-man. But he doesn't seem to be hanging out in anyone else’s apartment other than yours. You don't have any complaints, however. He keeps you company, and you seem to do the same for him.
“So, the only thing I’m getting here is that you think about me a lot. And that I’m special.” You say the last thing with a smug grin, and he seems to find that amusing. “Not everyone gets called special by Spider-man. So, thank you.” You add. But, unexpectedly, he counters your remark. “You’re also very sweet.” He says, holding up a finger. Then another one. “And you care a lot. I appreciate you worrying about me whenever I come back from a mission.” Your eyebrows raise, cheeks feeling a little warm. “You’ve got a great smile, it's actually infectious.” He glances at you, and you imagine his eyes narrowing. He’s got three of his fingers up now, then adds another one. “You’re crazy about your plants, but I also like that—and I get it, I’m crazy about my lego collections too.” That’s big news to you, Spider-man apparently likes legos. That reminds you, Peter is also crazy about them. So far, you’re thinking they’d get along well.
However, you don't know where this conversation is going. But you’re curious to how this would conclude, so you keep listening.
“And, I just like you. You make my day. I have more to say, if you want me to elaborate.” He hops down, now standing beside you. Somehow, you turn a little shy. His arm brushes against yours, as he rests his hands on the railing. “But you must get a lot of people telling you that, yeah?” You don't know why Spider-man’s suddenly getting you in your feelings, but you guess he’s always been that spontaneous. “Well, I do have one friend. Peter. He tells me he likes..” You cut yourself off, a metaphorical light bulb turning on above your head. His words starting to
sound familiar.
You remember a sleepover you did with Peter a few months back. When he was so sleepy that he started a verbose speech about how much he appreciates your long-term friendship. And that he doesn't know anyone who could ever have your patience to deal with him.
Now, you’re holding Spider-man’s stare. He’s waiting for you to continue your sentence. But you don't think you would, not when something else came up in your mind. “Peter?” You say, still unsure. He seems startled by that, drawing his head back. “What?”
“Sorry, I just.. What was the gift you gave me on my thirteenth birthday?”
“Walkie talkie–” You point your finger at him, eyes wide, and pretty proud of yourself. Meanwhile, Peter finally realizes just what you’d done and fails to defend himself. That’s when he sighs, his shoulders deflating. And now you feel very bad. “I knew you’d be cornering me!” You give him a guilty smile, moving closer. “I’m sorry, you were just giving yourself away.” He sighs, once again, but he doesn't seem all too bummed out.
“So, it's really you?” Peter nods his head, your smile turns fond. You reach for his mask, hand hesitating for a bit. “You can take it off.” He says, and that’s the time you continue and lift the bottom of his mask, slowly revealing the familiar face of the boy you’ve spent your whole life with. “Peter.” He smiles at you, crooked, evidently embarrassed to be caught like this. But he knew the day would come. Not that he never planned to tell you who really is. “Ta-da?” Peter attempts to humor you, and it works, kind of. You chuckle, bringing yourself to hug him. He wraps his arms around you, feeling all sorts of emotions.
“I’m sorry for ruining your whole reveal. I know that’s not what you intended.” Peter hums and shakes his head. “I’m surprised you’re not at all weirded out.” You pull away, just enough to look at him in the eyes. “I mean, you do need to explain to me why you did all this.” He purses his lips together, trying to find the confidence to tell you that he’s liked you ever since he could. And that it’s been keeping him in some kind of crisis, since he doesn’t know how to tell you.
“It’s hard to say. I like you. I’m practically head over heels. But I’ve never had the confidence to tell you. So I decided maybe being Spider-man could help.” He scratches the back of his neck, now wallowing in his own embarrassment. “Clearly not.. I’m not good at flirting with or without the mask, apparently.” He turns shy, pulling himself away. To his surprise, you pull him back by taking his hands. “You’re really interesting, Peter.” He grows even more flustered, unable to look you in the eyes.
“First, you break my pot.”
“That wasn't intentional, I was really nervous that day.”
“It's alright, It wasn't a big deal. Then, you try to woo me as Spider-man, which almost worked, instead of just asking me out?” Now that you put it that way. His plan did seem like a lot of work. But he didn't have a guarantee that you’d say yes. What if he blows it and you never talk to him again? That’s like.. scarier than having to defeat a Titan warlord threatening to end half the population on earth. Imagine that.
“Would you?” He asks, voice so quiet, you almost missed it. You hum, squeezing his hands. “Would I go out with you?” Peter nods his head, and you also do. “Yes, I would go out with you. Peter, I don't know if you've noticed but I’ve tried to make it obvious that I do like you.” Peter’s eyebrows scrunch together, as he looks at you with pure astonishment. Was he the one oblivious?
“Do you remember when I said my mom packed extra lunches for you?” He nods his head. “I did them, intentionally.” You smile, watching as he starts recollecting your memories. “Even that time you held my hand during our first field trip?” You nod your head, as Peter takes it all in.
“That time you asked me out on Prom?”
“Especially that. I thought you’d get it by then.” You shrug, meanwhile Peter feels like the biggest idiot in the world for realizing it all just now. How could he have missed the signs? Why couldn't he have just taken the risk? He’s done that plenty of times before.
“Alright, don't stress your pretty little mind. Atleast, now we both know.” Peter ponders for a bit more, before he lifts your hands up to kiss your knuckles. “I think I’ll be fine if I worry a bit more. It seems I don't use what’s up here, anyways.” He says, trying to humor his own disappointment. And you have to fight back a smile. “Peter.” You chide and he mutters a quick sorry.
“Let me make it up to you? I’ll take you out, wherever.” He’s leaning closer to kiss you on your forehead, and you feel the warmth seeping throughout your entire body. It’s crazy how a gesture so small could make you feel so much.
“Deal. And I believe I owe you one thing?” He narrows his eyes, inquisitively, and you take the opportunity to kiss him on the lips. You feel him freeze, his entire body going rigid for a second, before he melts and kisses you back. His hand immediately goes to cup your face, while his other pulls you closer by the waist. And you can't help but think about just how soft his lips feel like against yours. You almost want to stay like this for a little while, until you have to take a breath.
“I have a good idea. Why don't we head inside before someone sees you, and tells the entire world that you’re Spider-man.”
“I think that’s the best idea ever, actually.”

My Coworker’s Mom’s blanket is complete!
My squares are, from top to bottom: 4th on row 1, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th on row 2, 1st & 2nd on row 4, and 1st & 2nd on row 5. All the rest are CMom’s. When choosing the squares I’d do, I picked a mix of graphic ones (the trees), cables, openwork/lace and textured patterns, to go with the ones CMom made.
Once all my squares were done, I made sure all 20 had crocheted borders with the same number of stitches per side and then crocheted them all together. Finally, I put on one of my favorite blanket borders: one wrong-side row of half-double crochet (so the ‘extra’ bar of the stitches ends up on the right-side), and one right-side row of {backward single crochet+chain two+skip one} repeated. I love borders with backward crochet stitches; I think they make things look so ‘finished’ on the edges.
So, hopefully there will be a day soon when Coworker and I are at the office at the same time (rare) so I can show her these photos and set up when I can give this to her. <3 I really enjoyed completing her Mom’s final creation and I hope she’ll think I did it justice!
Thanks to everybody on my original post about this who encouraged me and sent kind messages. I didn’t expect this to attract attention like it has and I’ve had fun reading other people’s similar stories. As I said in the reblog chains on that post, crafting really brings people together! So hey, all you knitters, crocheters, and other assorted fiber-craft creators—hope you’re having a great time with your projects!
