Pretending that a Breezepelt Super Edition wouldn't have just completely ruined his character for a moment, Breezepelt would have been a much better choice to have as a SE pov.

I would have loved to see the story open with Breezepelt behaving how he does in Po3 and OOTS. I think he should be a little shit, resentful and hurt and angry. I want to see Crowfeather being a shit father, I want to get right into Breezepelt's head, right to the darkest parts of him.

I think he should want to get better--maybe for his mother, maybe for Heathertail, maybe for his future kits, maybe just for himself because he recognizes the same misery in his father, and doesn't want to become like him, forever bitter, forever lonely.

And I want him to struggle (out of love for the character!)

I want him to earn his redemption through blood, sweat, and tears. I want him to earn the forgiveness of his Clanmates and of Heathertail. I don't want him to be babied like Crowfeather was--where everyone forgave him and all he did was say whoops sorry. I want it to be the hardest and most painful battle that Breezepelt will ever fight, because he has to fight himself.

Then at the end, we see how worth it all of it was, because he's happy now, and his relationships are good and healthy. Maybe it ends with Heathertail telling him she's expecting, and he knows he'll be ready. Or maybe it ends with them already in the nursery, Breezepelt attentive and present (possibly contrasting with the prologue which could have been Crowfeather being absent when Breeze was born).

I'm never sure if I'm wording this exactly right, but another thing that bugs me so much about the fact that Crowfeather's Trial is centered on Crowf and not Breezy-P is that, for the narrative to be satisfying, it necessitates that Crowfeather has to get somewhere with Breezepelt. Even if it didn't HAVE to have Breezepelt fully forgive him, there needs to be some kind of progression between them, something Crowfeather DOES to 'atone.'

And how it decides to do that is to sort of make Crowfeather a "hero" who finally realizes he should be doing something for his child. It puts Breezepelt through MORE torment, by losing his mom, for the sake of his abusive dad's arc. By standing up against the bullies accusing Breezepelt of hurting Nightcloud, he helps to turn WindClan's opinion on Breeze around, fixing mistakes he made and... taking away Breezepelt's agency in his own character arc.

Breezepelt's descent into villainy via alienation hinges on Crowfeather, and then Crowfeather's super edition makes his acceptance hinge on it too.

That's an AWFUL message to me. Downright horrifying. That there wouldn't have been anything Breezepelt could do if his father continued to be a self-absorbed prick who denies he's ever the problem.

I wish instead that Breezepelt had gotten an SE that could explore the line between the actions he's done that he's responsible for, and the actions done to him that influenced him to act that way. When distrust from those in his society is fair, and also, when it's unfair.

And god please, Breezepelt I REALLY want to know who Breezepelt's off-screen friends were in Outcast. It's not cool that only Heathertail is ever shown as his buddy. I want to know all about his messy friendships, I wanna know what those friends think of them now, I wish WindClan was allowed to be more of a "community" with varying opinions about things.

I hate him your honor

Like I think he could be a good and interesting character but he gets away with too much and people just think he's this tragic character when he's really like. Not lol.

Also I'm aging him down slightly in TNP because what's the point of having him be an apprentice on the journey if he's adult age? Also obviously this means FeatherCrow doesn't happen but they do become close as friends

Jayfeather

taking a quick break from request cats, surprisingly to do a main character. i just got an idea for a Jayfeather design based on a Steller's jay and wanted to try it. i figure i can tweak or redo this design later if i want to.

overall i think it's pretty good! he has a dandelion for Lionblaze and a holly for Hollyleaf.

i don't really have any strong feelings on Jayfeather tbh. i hate jayhalf though. cause like, the reincarnation plot is dumb, and i don't care what the Erins say, Half Moon was in love with Jay's Wing, not Jayfeather. personally, i would like to know more about Jay's wing outside of Jayfeather possessing him y'know?

Reading Crowfeather's Trial right now (Y'all why did you tell me Bramblestar's Storm first? I'm enjoying myself so much more with this one.) and I have to say I absolutely LOVE how every single time Berrynose makes a guest appearance Crowfeather's immediate thought is 'God, not this asshole again!'
