#Cuckoo in a Robin's Nest Au

Will you expand on that, Reverse Robin, with Tim? I just found it!
I don't have too much plot for the Cuckoo in a Robin's Nest Au (the Name is a WIP) yet, so I can only write a dabble for you. For those wondering, this references the DC-only story I was thinking of writing. It can be found here.
Tim glances up as the bell on the door chimes. He knows who it is before he spots the head of dirty blond hair and the warm smile stretched against a freckled face.
Little Freddie rapidly became a regular after Tim set up a side table for him to comfortably eat and do his homework. Tim didn't know much about the kid besides the fact that he was being raised by a single father and had two older brothers. Apparently, the three were constantly working yet barely making ends meet leaving the small child to his own devices.
That wasn't an uncommon story around these parts. Not many employers were willing to hire anyone with a Crime Alley address, and those that did often only wanted to overwork them while underpaying them.
The fact that the boy still actively went to school during the day surprised the Crime Alley dwellers more. He was a School Kid, which meant something different to the people here. If Ex-Bat had to bet, Freddie's family put his future before theirs, since the boy won a scholarship to Gotham Academy.
He had to tell the boy to cover his uniform when walking home. He never knew who would mistake him for a rich kid and what they would do for a bit of quick cash in these parts.
Freddie now always came after school without his blazer and uniform shirt. He always changed in the bathrooms, throwing on a faded oversized band t-shirt and a baggy, run-down hoodie.
Even with his uniform pants, Freddie easily changed from a Gotham Academy School kid to a common Alley Crime Kid.
Tim himself had two part-time jobs, but they weren't enough to get him out of the city. He missed his resources like a missing limb, but he had survived with less before, and he could now.
The idea of creating any link between himself and the heroes made his skin crawl, even if it was to hack into the bank accounts he once had access to. Tim was already risking so much by moving through the city without documentation.
If he created a fake paper trail, he worried the Bats would pick up on it. Tim was done with them all. He died for them. They let him die.
He would never let them back in again.
That is why he chose to stay in Gotham.
It was one of the few places that didn't bat an eye at the fact that Alvin Draper only had his name and homeless shelter address. His apartment was a shed in someone's backyard, barely legal to count it as a rental space. It had a bathroom, a tiny sink, and a stove, but not much else.
It was the best he could find with what little he had to prove himself.
His big, mountain-of-muscle Russian landlord thought Tim was a runaway or rent boy because of how he talked, but he took the risk of letting him live there anyway. He at least felt safe when the man pulled out a receipt book to give him proof of payment, and after a vague confirmation that Tim wouldn't bring any trouble around the house.
He only cared that he could turn in his rent in cash and that if he needed to work odd hours, he should not make any noise past ten p.m. He also offered to care for any troublemakers who couldn't understand that Tim was only working if they followed him home.
It was oddly sweet how Crime Alley had both empathy and self-preservation deep in their bones for each other.
"Hi Alvin!" Freedie chips, throwing his scruffed-up backpack in the chair closest to the wall. He bounces in his seat, digging into the Pepperoni pizza Tim sets on the table for him. It's only three slices, but with his employee discount, it's less than a soda from a vending machine.
Tim wasn't sure how much Freddie's family was struggling, but he didn't mind providing the boy with a meal if he could.
"Hi Freddie," he answers warmly, pouring the boy some water. Since they were the only ones in the restaurant, he lingered near the table, placing his hands on his hips as he regarded the boy's appearance. Three weeks ago, he caught a bruise, concealed by makeup, near his neck, and has been hyper-aware of any reappearances since. "How was school?"
"It was pretty good. John tried to throw me in a locker, but I punched him in the nuts like you taught me before he could," the boy reveals with a proud puff of his chest. "His friends tried to grab me, but I swung my shoulder bags at them and they got scared."
Tim sniggers, pride pooling in his gut. His fake Crime Alley accent is rougher than normal, further disguising him. No one who heard him ever thought he was born with a silver tooth. "Good. Teach those prep losers not to mess with ruffians."
"It's important to be the bigger man," Tim confirms, refilling the boy's cup after he chugs it nearly all in one drink. "It's also important to defend yourself before things escalate."
Freddie's smile is crooked with both a mischievous nature and the edge of barely concealed violence. "My Dad and brothers think I shouldn't let them get under my skin."
Freddie is silent momentarily before carefully offering, "My second-oldest brother used to say that, too."
Tim doesn't know what happened to the second oldest, but he has noticed that Freedie always speaks of him in the past tense. This was another common thing in Crime Alley.
People died all the time, and everyone who called this hell-hole home had personally experienced loss at least once before turning eighteen.
"Your brother had the right idea." He settles on grinning at the boy. Freedie's blue eyes are searching, tracing over Tim's face as if searching for a lie, but the door chimes again, and he has to turn away to greet the new customers before he can ask what the boy is searching for.
He offers Freedie a slight nod while returning to the cashier. He pretends he doesn't notice how the twelve-year-old pulls out his homework after finishing his pizza slices. More specifically, he ignores how the boy occasionally attempts to take his picture between math questions.
It's cute how hard he tried to be sneaky about it and how his frustration grew with each failed attempt. Tim was having far too much fun carefully dodging his camera, making sure to move in a way that made it appear like an accident that his face was never captured correctly.
It reminded Tim of himself when he was twelve. Ah, memories.

The Drakes Spoiled Brat. (im sorry dad)
by Yellow_sprouts Tim Drake died at seventeen, his family long broken beyond repair. A Cuckoo finally rid from the nest. But when he wakes up in his time, but now just a year after the Graysons death and appearance of the first Robin. Tim wouldnt let his family suffer again, even if it meant he couldnt join them. Bruce Wayne is not "Brucie Wayne" Tim Drake is not "Timothy Drake" They are both personas, a front to prevent people from looking at whats really under the surface. But sooner or later Tim should have known Gotham being a city of secrets, nothing stays buried forever. Especially not when the bats get involved with their trashy next door neighbor whose behavior seems more and more contriditory. Tim had saved them all more times than he could count, maybe this time they could return the favor. __________________________________ Inspired by @brucewaynehater101 on tumblr- Time Travel AU- Timothy "Trash" Drake Words: 4187, Chapters: 1/?, Language: English Series: Part 1 of Batfam one shots/drabbles Fandoms: Batman - All Media Types, DC Extended Universe RPF Rating: General Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Categories: Other Characters: Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Damian Wayne, Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, Barbara Gordon, Oracle (DCU), Rogues Gallery (Batman), Batfamily Members (DCU) Relationships: Tim Drake & Dick Grayson & Jason Todd & Damian Wayne, Tim Drake & Jason Todd, Tim Drake & Damian Wayne, Tim Drake & Dick Grayson, Tim Drake & Bruce Wayne, Tim Drake & Alfred Pennyworth, Cassandra Cain & Tim Drake, Cassandra Cain & Tim Drake & Dick Grayson & Duke Thomas & Jason Todd & Bruce Wayne & Damian Wayne Additional Tags: Batfamily (DCU), Batfamily (DCU) Feels, Protective Batfamily (DCU), Tim Drake-centric, Tim Drake Needs a Hug, Tim Drake Tries to be a Good Sibling, Protective Tim Drake, Protective Jason Todd, Protective Dick Grayson, Protective Damian Wayne, Protective Bruce Wayne, Bruce Wayne Tries to Be a Good Parent, Bruce Wayne B- parenting, Time Travel, Time Travel Fix-It, BAMF Cassandra Cain, BAMF Tim Drake, Tim Drake is Not Red Robin, He is Cardinal, Batfamily is a Mess (DCU), Good Sibling Damian Wayne, Good Sibling Jason Todd, Good Sibling Dick Grayson, Good Sibling Stephanie Brown, Good Sibling Cassandra Cain, Good Sibling Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown Being a Little Shit, Batfamily Paranoia, Family Dynamics, Protective Siblings, Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending, Happy Ending, Barbara Gordon is Oracle, Protective Barbara Gordon via https://ift.tt/i4eDqrO

Sugar baby AU please
WIP Wednesday! Make me write!
Other asks here.
Snippet
“Well now there are two birds in this cuckoo nest,” Robin said proudly. “Robin and Canary.” She held out her hand and Steve took it with a smile.
“So does this mean you won’t be sneaking around my hotel room from now on?” he asked with a lopsided grin.
She burst out laughing. “I might do a little sneaking for old times sake, but yeah. I’ll make sure to announce my presence from now on.”
“Good,” Steve said with a huff. “Get out of here so I can shower.”
She laughingly did as she was told, Steve shaking his head the whole time.

i don’t have a real name for the stoneheart!aven’s sister au yet but i do know that sunday and aventurine have the nastiest relationship known to mankind in it. like aventurine comes in and usurps sunday’s position in everything? what do you mean aven’s naturally connected to ena. what do you mean aven’s the consideration for the head of the oak family now. what do you mean aven’s befriending robin and having fun ‘girls nights’ together. why is there a fucking cuckoo egg in sunday’s nest.
#following my: aven will end up on top no matter where he is in an au u have solely bc that’s who he is as a person to survive#thoughts#hsr#sunday hsr#aventurine#following the idea of gopher buying aven bc of his eyes & seeming connection to ena#although i’m still following the uhhhh bit more complicated than that thing w ena/fenge/xipe (sunday/aven/robin)#like i’m just imagining the worlds slowest enemies to siblings w sun & aven here. aven sneaks into robin’s good graces pretty quickly tho#somewhere down the line serpentine (stoneheart!sara) is asked to acquire penacony bc she’s absolutely ruthless#not being aware that one of the members of the family she’s going to subjugate is actually her kakavasha

a cuckoo in the nest timeline
fae Tim AU. [masterpost here] everyone's lying to each other and making deals so I thought I should explain who knows what by when.
2009
The Unseelie Queen (UQ) accepts when Janet and Jack Drake offer her their kid in exchange for money and power.
At this point, Tim is a regular human boy. He could just leave.
She gets Tim to eat fae fruit without knowing its effects, and then tricks him into giving her his name.
Tim is now part fae and cannot freely leave the fae realm.
2010
Tim becomes more and more fae.
2011
Jason becomes Robin.
Dick graduates high school and becomes Nightwing.
2012 - June
Tim realizes that 1) his parents had no right to sell him, and 2) it is eating fae fruit/becoming part fae that gives UQ control over him/his name. If he can claw back enough humanity, he can just leave.
To prevent Tim from trying, UQ offers an all or nothing deal. If he loses, he resigns himself to being fae forever.
Jason comes back to life.
UQ makes a separate deal with Bruce. She acts like she brought Jason back to life, when really she just dulled his memories of death and rebirth. She frames Tim as a spy so that he won't trust him and therefore will never love him.
UQ has no right to bargain Jason to Bruce, because Jason isn't hers and she didn't save him. UQ also has no right to make two deals about Tim.
Bruce doesn't know about her deal with Tim.
2012 - July
Tim bonds with Dick, Jason, Barbara, Alfred.
Bruce learns that Tim also has a deal with UQ, but doesn't know the parameters of his deal.
He calls her out for making a deal with Tim about him getting to stay in the human realm, when she also made a deal with Bruce about keeping Tim.
Bruce makes a new deal with her under the assumption that Tim is a full-blooded fae and a subject of UQ. He believes that she can command Tim to go whereever.
Bruce still doesn't know that 1) UQ didn't bring Jason back to life and cannot undo that, 2) Tim was born human.
UQ knows that because Tim was born human, with enough time, love and care from humans, Tim can reclaim enough humanity to just leave.
Tim doesn't know that Bruce fears for Jason's life. He believes that his stay in the human realm depends on Bruce accepting him.
2012 - August
👀 👀 ????
#fae tim#does this make sense?#i thought about organizing it by character but#that seemed even more confusing

You're not going to believe it but I am in fact drinking a smoothie right now and almost choked on it laughing when I read this.
First of all, I absolutely adore AUs where Gotham believes the Bats are something More. I bet they first started thinking it around when Dick became Robin, like that's when it first spread from just the worst of the worst areas to ones that are slightly better off.
But I bet it really explodes when Cardinal appears. Enough for Outsiders to notice, for the small homemade shrines to no longer be hidden in alleys and homes. Because while there's been mass revivals in DC before, it is said repeatedly that Jason's revival is different. And I freaking bet that the Gothamites can tell. Especially whenever the Pit coils around him during patrol. Cardinal (Which can I just say, perfect bird for him) smells of both life and death.
Which kind of random but again, Cardinal is a perfect name for Jason. Those birds have a couple different meanings/myths but they're seen as the messenger from beyond the grave throughout so many different places. Some sailors even got tattoos of cardinals so that they might carry their souls to the afterlife if they died at sea.
And Oh my god, Barbara being known as both Batgirl and the Cuckoo is such a fun idea. I wonder if she leans into that as Oracle, making sure to look almost completely 'normal' with something off. Like something merely mimicking.
Question is if these are their normal vigilante names or something Gotham alone calls them, like some true name thing.
Gosh, do you think Gothamites treat some of them as embodiments of the different dynamics? Like Batman is already seen as the feral mom of Gotham, and so far only Nightingale/Nightwing is an alpha in the vigilante family. Hm...
Oh my god Damian is following Tim like a little duckling and there's definitely some drake/duck jokes. Small teasing ones of course. Never any cruel ones. Mostly just buying Tim a duck-themed hoodie and Damian a duckling onesie and getting the most adorable video ever. Though yess, he definitely likes to be just completely encompassed by his pack's scents. Buries himself in the middle of the nest with everyone else curled around the progressively younger pack members.
PFFT, it'd be hilarious if the video is how everyone learned about Bruce Wayne's newest child. He's so small and loves his big brothers so much, just look at him!
OH MY GOD. We haven't even talked about the fun identity shenanigans. Like Bruce Wayne is everywhere, even without those gossip magazines trying to stir up a scandal and getting an angry pup after them. Meanwhile the league barely knows about Batman's family due to his well-founded paranoia and anxiety. Especially about the ones who don't know how to pup or were mistreated. Do you think they'd gossip about the magazines as well and turn expectantly towards B asking what he thinks about it lol
Bruce is amused when Tim huffs up to him and says he has an interview to do to stop the stupid magazines from saying he's a bad dad. Well, he's amused until Tim complains about a reporter trying to grab him while he was at school before Steph and several other kids decided biting was more than okay in that situation.
Hey mutual, figure the third Omegaverse thing was startin to get long again lol. So I thought I'd respond here instead >:3 (Also have links to the previous ones for easy access lmao) 1_ 2_ 3_
You know what would be kind of adorable? If it was Tim who got all angry at the gossip magazines. Everyone else is used to it and finds it kind of funny after all, since as you said, people outside of Gotham don't know the nuances of Gothamite body language. But Tim has been slowly coaxed into acting like a pup, been reassured that him acting like that is okay and is perfectly natural. So seeing people trying to claim Bruce isn't a good caretaker in a way that straight up targets that behavior? Oh baby boi is going to throw a fit.
Also love the idea of even other Gothamites going, yeah, the bats are more than a little feral, even for us lol. They've seen it all from the gleeful murder-baby first Robin to the trying-to-bite-your-ears-off second Robin to gonna-jump-off-this-bridge-and-take-you-with-me Batgirl. To the big bat himself who will see what could account as a straight up mob worth of people and go yeah I can fight that, and actually does, and wins.
Like that's just utterly hilarious to me lol.
Actually, before I forget, I feel like Damian's and Tim's relationship would be better in this. Seeing as Damian is younger and both Tim and Dick are very familiar with being unfamiliar with pup behavior or being forced to try and stop doing it. Which thankfully it wasn't to the extent of Tim, but still. He's the itty bitty baby of the pack who doesn't want to let anyone go the moment he realizes they won't betray him. Similar to how Tim is once he finally realizes the Waynes won't leave him and actually want him to stay.
Also remind me to sketch out the different fangs when my hands aren't shaking lol
Oh Tim DEFINITELY rips into the gossip mags.
He may be a lil pup and semi-recently got placed with the Wayne Pack, but by GOD is he going to send some angry emails.
Honestly I can see him reaching out to the daily planet as ‘Bruce’ and setting up an interview to clear it all up.
But until that happens, Tim gets scruffed and brought into the nest SO often to calm him down.
Like. Calm down pup! You are TOO angy!
Speaking of Tim and Damian’s relationship- they have the best relationship by far in the Pack. Tim can and will throw down for his new little brother. And the brotherly instincts he never had before (and thusly never had to stifle before) doesn’t help either.
Dami is more or less constantly following either his Mum, Jason, or Tim.
If he has to, he’ll tag along with Dick and Alfred, but in order of his favorite pack members Tim is definitely up there with Jason and Bruce.
He can and will use the fact that he’s just an itty bitty pup and whine and whine to get carried around. He may be an independent pup, and he DOES like to wander around on his own, but he absolutely loves being engulfed by his packmate’s scents.
It’s so very different to when he first left the cloning pod and all he could smell was blood and sterile alcohols.
And finally for how Gotham views the Feral Bats??
It’s DEFINITELY like that. Gotham is in awe over their guardians (and I can’t help but see them putting the Batfamily up as embodiments of the city, Gothamites definitely definitely made shrines for the Batfamily that dot about the city)
The Agent, the one who walked the streets long before the Bat flew for the first time, who holds ears in the highest of places and knows far too much that he rarely shares with others. The one who was only connected to the bats far, far down the line.
The Motherly-Protective Bat who has claws like in the old days, who bares his fangs and rips into flesh with no hesitation to protect his city-pups and actual pups. Who dragged the first of the costumed rogues back to Arkham by sheer force and detective skills.
The First Robin who was gleefully blood thirsty, somehow the most animalistic of the pack as he chirped and trilled and danced in the air. Flying like his namesake as he bares his puppy fangs in a barely constrained aggressive smirk.
The Batgirl (Cuckoo) who nearly flew as well as the First Robin, the one who chirped and warbled and forced herself into the Bat’s nest and first showed the City what happened to those who hurts those the Bat holds dear and who showed what happened to who the Bat deems as unwelcome to his territory.
The Nightingale, the first of the robins to grow up, the one with fangs he never hid and a voice as sweet as his feathers. The one who talks as much as he growls, the one who shreds his enemies with enough cheer and electricity to drown a clown.
The Second Robin, (Cardinal, clad in blood reds and spiked feathers, somehow still in the familiar designs of the First Robin) the one taken far too soon who didn’t quite fly as he did glide. The one who hid in his mother’s cape, only leaving to fight and protect-protect-protect just like his mother. The one who showed what happened to those who ignore that they were chased out of the Bat’s territory.
The Third Robin (Crow, Clad in blacks and shiny feathers but still the familiar Robin design) The one who is too smart for his own good- the one who ended the grip that the Bat’s bloodstained claws held on the city. He clings to his mother, only leaving to find more of his pack.
The Forth Robin, (Starling, purples and blacks and shimmering feathers that seem to mirror your face back at you) The blending of Batgirl and Robin, the one who was dragged into the Bat Pack when Crow wandered too far from his mother and needed her help finding his way back to the nest. All the gracefulness of the Bats and the Aggressiveness of the Robins twirled into one sparkling purple attack.
The Cardinal, the second of the robins to grow up, the one who took the name that was whispered in the alleys as his own. Who came into the scene with a splash of blood as bright and soaking as his initial departure. Who’s eyes glow with Unseen bloodlust and protection that followed his mother’s steps.
#Omegaverse#alpha beta omega#batman au#imagine if it spirals into an entire religion lmao#Bruce is exasperated while the kids are all giggling#they can use this#I will say they deserve to find baby Carrie Kelley as well#Tiny redhead toddler Damian's age with a slingshot#Pfft people definitely think Black Bat (or whatevr Cass goes by in this) literally came from the Bat#She's a natural at being a pup and it's probably really relaxing to not have to struggle with words if she doesn't want to#Oh my god if we have tiny Damian we have tiny Jon as well#PFFT Do you think Dick is bragging to his Titans about his darling little siblings#“Robin- third one- finally bit someone for the first time and we're so proud he's been so shy!”#“Oh you should have seen Robin- she was curled up in the nest all protectively over Robin who didn't want to take a nap”#“What do you mean I've never mentioned my sister BB? Her and Cardinal are twins you met them when they were robins??”#Jason is telling Cass all the fun stories about when he was Robin so they can pull this off for the lols#Honestly Duke is out all day for dayshift & conks out at night when not having night classes so he's probably available for so many snuggle#All of society thinks he's the chill one in the family while not knowing he jumped off a bridge to escape a cop & founded the#We Are Robin movement lol#He takes advantage of this to get away with stuff in public#Honestly I'm thinking he's probably a beta but idk lol could also be alpha

dry your eyes AU 2: electric boogaloo? also that's a fantastic title plz don't change it when the story's done
AKSKSJDJKSJFKAJX so first of all I just realized that I probably gave you a lifelong association for The World Is Ugly with that one playlist (👀), but ANYWAY I mean... I probably will pick a different lyric when I actually finish the fic, but. it's a sequel to this fic I wrote a while back bc I wanted to explore those concepts more. it's... much more grounded than what happens in canon (whatever you might call "canon" wrt comics...), like... nobody's mental health is actually much better but they're certainly handling it better ajdkdhskfhakjf. Tim is the glue holding this family together and yet he still has zero concept of his own self-worth, Jason is being smacked in the face with Older Brother Instincts, Dick is dealing with the household curse (being woefully unprepared and yet CHOOSING to take care of someone else's son with all the love he has), and Damian is... Damian. scared and angry and figuring out what a family can be. basically, this is the "Damian vs. Tim" installment in this AU and everybody makes some Big Mistakes. they're figuring it out. a snippet for you:
As it is, all he can see is a dark sky, alley walls around him, and the beginnings of a rainstorm forming overhead. It seems thematic, in a depressing kind of way, but again, that's probably the shock. Or the concussion he probably has, making everything feel sluggish and uncertain.
There's no chatter in his comm. It isn't broken, it can't be broken because if it is then no one except Damian will know where he is or that he's hurt. It can't be broken, because when Tim reaches up to it with his unbroken hand and feels at the earpiece, it's not fractured or shattered and there's no static in his ear. It just got turned off, and he can't remember if he did it on purpose or if the fall from the rooftops jostled it. The uncertainty adds to the panic in between his ribs, a few of which feel like they're cracked.
Maybe all of him is cracked. Little Robin, cuckoo in the nest, finally fell and cracked open. Finally pushed.

The Drakes Spoiled Brat. (im sorry dad)
read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/i4eDqrO by Yellow_sprouts Tim Drake died at seventeen, his family long broken beyond repair. __________________________________ Inspired by @brucewaynehater101 on tumblr- Time Travel AU- Timothy "Trash" Drake Words: 4187, Chapters: 1/?, Language: English Series: Part 1 of Batfam one shots/drabbles Fandoms: Batman - All Media Types, DC Extended Universe RPF Rating: General Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Categories: Other Characters: Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Damian Wayne, Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, Barbara Gordon, Oracle (DCU), Rogues Gallery (Batman), Batfamily Members (DCU) Relationships: Tim Drake & Dick Grayson & Jason Todd & Damian Wayne, Tim Drake & Jason Todd, Tim Drake & Damian Wayne, Tim Drake & Dick Grayson, Tim Drake & Bruce Wayne, Tim Drake & Alfred Pennyworth, Cassandra Cain & Tim Drake, Cassandra Cain & Tim Drake & Dick Grayson & Duke Thomas & Jason Todd & Bruce Wayne & Damian Wayne Additional Tags: Batfamily (DCU), Batfamily (DCU) Feels, Protective Batfamily (DCU), Tim Drake-centric, Tim Drake Needs a Hug, Tim Drake Tries to be a Good Sibling, Protective Tim Drake, Protective Jason Todd, Protective Dick Grayson, Protective Damian Wayne, Protective Bruce Wayne, Bruce Wayne Tries to Be a Good Parent, Bruce Wayne B- parenting, Time Travel, Time Travel Fix-It, BAMF Cassandra Cain, BAMF Tim Drake, Tim Drake is Not Red Robin, He is Cardinal, Batfamily is a Mess (DCU), Good Sibling Damian Wayne, Good Sibling Jason Todd, Good Sibling Dick Grayson, Good Sibling Stephanie Brown, Good Sibling Cassandra Cain, Good Sibling Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown Being a Little Shit, Batfamily Paranoia, Family Dynamics, Protective Siblings, Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending, Happy Ending, Barbara Gordon is Oracle, Protective Barbara Gordon read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/i4eDqrO

grips you grips you grips you
God I ADORE Cryptid!AUs along with Omegaverse AUs, the feral behavior and instinctually going ‘this person is FAMILY!’ is just, *chefs kiss*.
And you KNOW it spirals into an entire religion for the gothamites.
While outside of Gotham, the Batclan is just like, Humans+, inside Gotham they lean into it.
Even for the rogues (Except for the Joker) the shrines are ‘holy’ places. Places for the Bats to retreat to in absolute emergencies, only being interrupted by the shrine caretakers when the Bats mark the shrines as being visited.
Also for their names? In Gotham, The birds are all called Robins, but to specify the birds, they’re all given their unique names. Outside of Gotham, it’s just Robin.
I can see Alfred and the kids being endlessly amused and going with the names when they’re on the streets. (Speaking of names, Dami definitely gets the ‘hero’ name of Duckling)
Gothamites definitely see the bats as aspects of the city-
The Bat being the pack leader, Pack Omega and the underlining urge and need to protect and get Justice for those who have been wronged.
Robin being the anger of the street kids, the ones who have been taken and taken and taken from and unable to do anything but survive.
Nightingale is the street kids who survived- who grew up and are still so damn angry- and finally able to do something.
Cuckoo are the girls that are forced to hide, to change their behaviors to protect themselves until they snap.
Cardinal is the street kids who didn’t survive. The ones who died cold, lonely, and afraid- only to come back to inflict what has been done to them onto others.
Crow is the pups who were forced to grow up to early, the ones who stepped quietly in the shadows, the ones who watched and learned and still were unable to do anything.
Black Bat- Black Bat is just Pups entirely. The one who split from the Bat himself just because enough pups had retreated into the shrines to leave an imprint in his psyche. The one who burst from her mother’s shadow in a swirl of angry-protect-mine-mine-mine.
Starling.. she’s the pups who’s parents turned to darkness, who decided that no, that wasn’t allowed, and to step out of the shadows as one of the now almost constantly existing Two Robins. She refuses to hide in the shadows like the majority of her family, instead letting her purple feathers shine and shimmer as she snaps her teeth at all the parents who forsake their kids for the riches of crime.
Duckling is hidden, too young to leave the nest. The one Robin who is said to be directly from the blood of the Bat. Nothing much is known about him other than before he showed up, after Crow first stopped the chaos the Bat was wrecking, the Bat vanished for months.
Signal is the one who decided to go against the grain, the children who tried their best to hide in the shadows, only to be dragged out into the light. Hes the one who took one look at the lights that burned and decided no- that wouldn’t take him away. As an Aspect, he is the only one who took the shadows and decided to fight back with Light instead of using darkness like the rest of his family.
And when Carrie is found? She’s swooped up off the streets, the only other time Gothamites have seen the Bat take a child from the gutters of Gotham. Sure, Crow was taken too- but he was the one to approach the Bat- Carrie didn’t. She was scooped up. And sure, Cardinal, Nightingale, Stellar, and Cuckoo were rumored to be children who died to the streets, but Carrie, who is yet to be named (because I don’t know her story at all lmao) was the only one to be seen being carried off by the Bat when found injured.
#Omegaverse#A/B/O#Alpha Beta Omega#Cryptid Batfamily#<- me thinks this post deserves this tag now lmao#also once shrines reached the richer areas of Gotham#the kids DEFINITELY made Bruce make one as wel#it’s small compared to the other shrines the rich folk of Gotham have#but the kids excuse it over Bruce being TERRIFIED of bats#and how he refused to make a bigger one#(it’s very much seen as a slight against the bats)
