🏞️ Forgotten Heights, Sacred Echoes
Tilla Jogian—once a thriving sanctuary for yogis and mystics—sits atop the Salt Range of Pakistan, wrapped in silence and time. For over 2,000 years, this sacred space welcomed seekers of all paths, offering stillness, wisdom, and refuge above the world.
Today, it stands neglected. But not forgotten.
It’s time to recognize Tilla Jogian as what it truly is: a living chapter of South Asia’s spiritual and cultural memory.

🌠 Kryptonian Culture Deserves Better
Stop treating Krypton like a tragic footnote. It was a home.
We need to talk about how often Krypton — one of the most famous planets in fiction — gets reduced to a glowing backdrop, a footnote of doom, or worse: a convenient trauma button for Superman ☄️.
And sure, yes, it did explode. But that doesn’t mean it never lived.
There’s something deeply frustrating about how Krypton, despite being the root of Superman’s identity, rarely gets the same narrative richness that other fictional cultures are afforded. We remember it only to kill it again. We build it up just to burn it down. It’s Planet Tragedy™. A tool for angst. A metaphor for loss. Nothing more💔.
But it could be so much more.
Imagine Krypton as:
🏛️ A civilization of artists, scientists, warriors, dreamers. 📚 A culture with philosophy, storytelling, literature, food, religion, grief rituals, lullabies. 🎭 A people not just defined by their end, but by how they lived, loved, and remembered.
Krypton could have contradictions. Regional differences. Political unrest. Joy and cruelty. The complexity that makes any world real.
The tragedy of Krypton shouldn’t be its destruction alone — it should be that no one remembers how it truly lived.
And Kal-El, Clark Kent, Superman — he’s not just the Last Son of a planet. He’s its living archive. Its legacy. Its descendant and its historian. The stories he tells (and the ones he never learned) matter 🕊️.
We deserve better than the same sterile “crystal palace + genetic perfection + BOOM” take over and over. Krypton deserves imagination. Emotion. Narrative investment. Give us something to grieve for, not just because it exploded, but because we loved it too.
Let Krypton breathe. Let it be beautiful. Let it be weird. Let it be remembered.

✨ What if the internet had never been privatized?
No Facebook. No YouTube. No memes or digital movements. Maybe even no ChatGPT.
I just published an essay speculating what the web might look like under state control—a space of static pages, censored memory, and lost voices. It’s about infrastructure, identity, and the fragile networks that connect us.

Shadows of Integrity: Architecture as a Living Document of Memory and Time
In the architecture of history, the document controller becomes a custodian of both the physical and philosophical dimensions of design, embodying a role that resonates with the heritage of luminaries like Daniel Libeskind. Libeskind’s assertion that architecture is the “biggest unwritten document of history” reflects his broader legacy, rooted in memory and identity. His works, such as the Jewish Museum Berlin, navigate the relationship between form, shadow, and historical narrative, where space becomes an envelope for collective memory.
Similarly, the DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung) format, originally a German standard, has become a global framework that structures not just architectural drawings but the way we communicate and preserve the technical language of architecture. It reflects the precision and universality that architecture demands, creating an international order that sustains the integrity of designs across time and space.
Folding, envelopes, and shadows are not merely design elements but metaphors for how architecture engages with time. The envelope, in this context, holds not just the physical space but the intangible—shadows that represent the invisible forces at play in architecture: memory, culture, and historical weight. The shadow, in its fleeting nature, offers a counterpoint to the permanence of built forms, much like the document controller’s role in preserving architectural truth against the ravages of time.
This abstract honorus the versatile architect who, like Libeskind, navigates the tensions between time and memory, form and shadow, and the document controller who ensures that the architectural narrative remains honest. In doing so, they protect the sanctity of architecture as a living record—one where shadows and folds are not erasures but layers that enrich our understanding of history and its projection into the future. The architect’s war with time is ultimately a battle for the integrity of this unwritten document, where every preserved drawing, every shadow cast, becomes part of a larger architectural legacy that speaks to our shared heritage and future.

It’s a fascinating and frightening proposition: What is the future archeology of non-physical, personal media? Or, indeed, of the overall cultural-personal archive itself?
With the threat of everything from adversarial hackers and nation-states, to destructive bots, worms, what have you, and even the threat of future nuclear (or catastrophic natural) events, which wipe out not just populations, but entire nations’ cultural memory, it’s a conundrum…We should actively try to “physicalize” as much as we can, through the printing out of our favorite and most treasured personal and family “snaps” and digital documents, either by making old school “photo albums”, or printing out collections and document-narratives via self-publishing entities such as Lulu, etc.

Renae and I (Victor) walked around the memorial for the victims of the 9/11 2001 attack on the Twin Towers. We sat down and talked about our feelings about memory, memorials, and the different meanings that this date has in our minds. We were both very young in 2001 and saw the events of that day through the lens of young kids. Today, it is hard to have a conversation about this event without it evoking strong emotions.
Memorials like this can be seen as a site of resistance, but also as an institutional attempt to direct memory to particular narratives and through affective discourses of trauma and cultural unity. The reality of what events in history evoke in our memory, especially those that happen on the same day decades apart, can be quite different. We offer this conversation as an attempt to dwell on these issues of national/cultural memory, and the collapsing of time and space in memorial sites.

When referring to his frantic scribbles and expressive drips, Cy Twombly once said, "my line is childlike but not childish. It is very difficult to fake...to get that quality you need to project yourself into the child's line."
