James had a small frown as he pulled her suitcase and hockey bag out of his car. James and Allison were currently at the airport as Allison was heading back to New Jersey.

“See you in a few days.” Allison spoke quieter not use to already feeling like she was missing him.

In a couple days they would both be in LA for James’s draft.

James sighed a bit giving her a sad crooked smile and stepped closer pulling her into a tight completely burying his face in her shoulder, “See you in a few days.” He mumbled.

Allison wrapped her arms around him pressing her cheek against the side of his head, “I’ll call you tonight.” She promised as they pulled and she let her hand brush his cheek, she knew it was the right thing to say when his face lit up at her words.

She might not know how to this girlfriend thing but she is trying.

“I’ll answer.” James grinned a bit making her breath out a fond breath of air and she gently kissed him.

“Bye.” She mumbled softly against his lips.

“Bye angel.” James softly laid a soft kiss onto her forehead before watching her grab her things and she turned around heading to the doors.

Allison glanced over her shoulder and gave him a small wave before heading inside.

She let out a slight shaky breath, if this is how it felt now saying bye to him for just a few days she isn’t looking forward to the upcoming season. She shook off her thoughts as she went to check her bags.

It was a short flight to New Jersey that Allison spent the entire reading.

She dragged all of her bags out of the airport seeing Jack’s car waiting for her and she tossed her bags into the car quickly and getting into the car.

Allison leaned over giving Jack a quick hug before he started driving.

“Hi Goose.” Jack grinned at his baby sister glancing over his shoulder as he pulled out of the pick up lane.

“Hello.” Allison grinned back and Jack and Allison started chatting the entire time back home.

Allison laughed as she stepped inside the apartment and was immediately pulled into a tight hug by her Mom, “Hi Mom.”

Ellen cupped her daughter’s face and raised an eyebrow seeing Allison glowing and her eyes sparkling more than usually. Ellen wanted to know what exactly was making her daughter so happy.

“Goose!” Luke rushed over quickly hugging his sister making her laugh and happily hug him back.

“Moose!”

“Did you have fun?” Luke whispered as they pulled back and he got a smile and nod from Allison making him smile.

Allison hugged her Dad and Quinn next before dragging her bags to her room making her brother all follow her and sit around her room bugging her as she unpacked her bags.

She flopped onto the end of her bed once she did her unpacking and just spent awhile with her brothers till Ellen poked her head in to tell her kids to get ready to go to dinner.

None of the Hughes siblings argued with their mother and all got up getting ready for dinner.

Allison threw on a simple white tank top and jean shorts and leaving her hair in a french braid as she slipped a pair of flip flops in grabbing her purse and heading out of her room.

“I’m driving!” Allison quickly spoke as she reached the entrance way. She hasn’t gotten to drive her car in weeks.

No one argued and the six of them headed down to Allison’s car and the boys let Ellen have the passenger seat as Allison drove them all to dinner.

Ellen picked out a simple italian restaurant, a type of restaurant she knew her children tried to not eat at dinner the hockey season.

Allison was sitting in the corner of the booth with Quinn sitting next to her.

She glanced at her phone and bit her lip before taking a deep breath looking at the table as everyone was looking at the menus, “I’m dating someone.” Allison blurted out trying to sound casually.

Jack loudly choked on his water, Quinn slowly set down his menu, Jim’s eyes widened and Ellen started smiling looking absolutely ecstatic.

Luke smirked a bit looking a bit amused at the reactions.

“Who?” Ellen clasped her hands together looking so happy.

Allison fiddled with her bracelet under the table, “James.”

“Hagens!” Jack’s voice raised in shock his eyes fully wide.

“I knew it!” Ellen smiled and gave her husband a smug grin, “I told you Jim.”

Jim sighed giving a fond smile to his wife because he didn’t want to believe it.

Quinn slowly blinked, “When did this happen?”

“And you’re dating? I didn’t think you ever would want to.” Jack sounded shocked because he knows his sister and knows how much she doesn’t like relationships.

“About two weeks ago when i was in Jersey.” Allison answered Quinn’s question first, “I didn’t either.” She looked at Jack as she replied to his words.

“This is great Allie!” Ellen beamed, “I always knew that boy liked you.”

Allison pressed her lap together to hide her pleased smile.

“Wait you went to long island to see your boyfriend?” Jack realized still sounding so shocked that his sister who hated everything romance has a boyfriend.

“Yes Jack.” Allison sounded amused.

“Does he make you happy?” Quinn asked because he annals James does as her friend but he wanted to make sure James still does as her boyfriend.

“Yeah.” Allison nodded softly and smiled thinking about him making Jack and Quinn share another shocked look at the smile on her face.

“Wait wait wait! Moose is way to silent.” Jack quickly realized squinting his eyes at Luke and gasped loudly, “You knew!”

“Duh!” Luke shrugged giving Jack a smug grin, “I knew from the start.” Luke teased making Jack grumble.

Allison did spend the rest of dinner getting asked questions about her relationship but she couldn’t mind because her family was all happy for her.

She headed back to the apartment with her family and she got ready for bed getting into bed immediately face timing James to tell him all about her dinner.

Allison for the first time with James ended up falling asleep on face time with him.

Allison closed the front door behind her and sighed in relief as she pulled off her heels and tossing her purse on the front table.

She grabbed her hair ringing it out a bit it was pouring rain outside.

She was currently in New Jersey for less than twenty four hours. She had gotten into Boston two days ago for the Bauer combine and flew to New Jersey mid day today to go to the UFC fight at the Prudential Center with Brett, Dawson and Stefan.

She was leaving tomorrow afternoon back to Boston and would be there for one more week before heading back to New Jersey.

She walked down the hallway into her room immediately getting into the shower.

Allison tossed a pair of black silk shorts and a BC that was James. She was annoyed at herself how much she liked the hoodie.

She had just set her brush down after brushing her wet hair when the doorbell ring.

Allison titled her head confused as she didn’t order anything and walked to the front door and slowly opened the door and blinked seeing who was standing outside her door.

James was standing there with a small suitcase and was absolutely soaked from the rain.

“James?” Allison’s jaw dropped for a second, “Your supposed to be in Buffalo.” Buffalo that was six hours away and where the combine had just been.

“I took a flight.” James shrugged a bit, definitely one of his more spontaneous moments but when he saw the texts in the group chat about her being in New Jersey he knew it was the moment he’s been waiting for.

“You’re soaking wet.” Allison said back not looking in his eyes as she looked at him.

“It’ll be worth it.” James smiled a bit and took a step closer.

Allison glanced up and took a step backstop back and letting James close the door behind him, “What are you doing here J?” She crossed her arms.

“I got your voicemail.” James confessed softly. Allison just bit her lip not saying anything yet as James took another step closer, “When i called you i was drunk but it was the truth.” James finally confessed.

Allison froze for a second and slowly looked over at him making eye contact with James seeing his extremely honest look.

“And when you kissed me i was shocked and was really hopeful you felt the same but i woke up and you were gone.” James spoke honestly, “And i thought all this time that you just didn’t like me but after your call i realized that might not be the truth. So this is me being straightforward this time.”

James took one step closer so they were onto a few inches apart, “I adore you Allison Hughes.” James confessed so very softly.

Allison let out a shaky breath at his words as she felt his hand very tentatively reached for her waist.

James watched her seeing the tiny smile grow on her face and he gave her a smile back making her slowly put her hand on his chest leading to his hand move from her waist to her lower back pulling her a bit closer.

“I adore you too James Hagen.” Allison confessed speaking softer to him than she ever had to most people.

James let out a shaky happy breath his smile growing as he lifted his other hand to cup her face letting his fingers tangle with her wet blonde hair, “Yeah?”

Allison reached up with her other hand gently touching his blonde hair giving him a nod, “Yeah.” Allison smiled at him making James beam and lens closer finally kissing the again.

James tried to follow her lips as she pulled back making her smile even more.

“Does this mean we are dating?” James asked quietly wanting to make sure they are on the same page.

Allison let out a nervous breath not realizing she was relaxing because of James softly rubbing her back, “I’ve never done this before.” Allison didn’t know how to be in a relationship but she wanted to try if it was James.

James gave her a soft nod, “That’s okay we go at our pace and i can teach you something for once.” He said with a teasing smile at the end.

Allison let out a small amused breath shaking her head slightly, “Yes.”

James face lit up even more, “So does that mean i can kiss my girlfriend?”

Allison laughed a bit with a fond eye roll before she grabbed his wet hoodie and pulled him to her kissing him again making James hum happily.

Allison sighed softly after their kiss and looked at her boyfriend, “I assume you’re staying here tonight?”

James sheepishly smiled playing with the bottom of her hair, “Is that okay?”

“Course but you need a shower.” Allison gave him a raised eyebrow as she gave one of his wet curls a small tug.

“Okay.” James said easily leaning into her touch.

“Come you can use my bathroom.” Allison slowly stepped back as she slowly grabbed his hand and intertwined their hands for the first time making James smile again.

James just happily let her drag him and his eyes looked at her back and he froze for a second realizing she was wearing his hoodie, his number on her back.

“Nice hoodie.” James softly said as they stepped into the bathroom. He wanted to see her wear all of his clothes.

Allison closed her eyes annoyed he caught her wearing his hoodie, “Shut up. There’s towels on the rack and use whatever you want in the shower.”

She spun around going to head out of the bathroom when James grabbed her hand again stopping her before slowly turning her around, “It looks prefect on you and thank you Angel.” James slowly leaned close and very softly kissed her cheek relishing in the very soft pink that spread across her cheeks.

Allison groaned a bit knowing she is blushing and she knew she confessed she liked that name. She turned around and walked out of the bathroom making James just smile.

James smiled to himself, “Yes!” He whispered shouted, it went even better than he hopped and he got the girl.

Allison let out a long breath plopping down on the bed and she covered her face not being able to hide back her happy smile.

James came out a few minutes later with a happy smile and had a Devils hoodie on that he got when she got his hoodie.

“Oh so you’re a hoodie theft.” Allison teased as James walked over to her as she was still sitting on the bed.

“Technically you stole mine and left yours.” James grinned back and he slowly sat down next to her.

James softly grabbed her hand and smiled when Allison let him, “We aren’t doing anything tonight.” James said casually, he didn’t want to have their first night together like that.

Allison eyes followed James’s hand as he softly tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear, “That’s straightforward.” Allison did smile a bit at his words

“Seems to be what works for us.” James said with a teasing but serious smile before he stood up, “Well i should let you get some sleep.”

“Jamesy.” Allison spoke up sounding amused, “You can stay with me.”

James perked up grinning, “Really?”

Allison stood up with a small smile, “Really.” She started pulling off the extra pillows on her bed as James grabbed his cord and plugged his phone before tossing his phone on the desk before helping Allison pull back the blankets.

James’s face softened seeing the two stuff animals, “You kept him?”

Allison glanced over seeing James holding the turtle he won her last summer, “Yeah.”

“Mines in my suitcase.” James confessed making her smile soften.

Allison pulled the hoodie off tossing it on her chair making James pout for a second and Allison fondly rolled her eyes before she got into her bed and gently patted the spot next to her making James quickly get into the bed.

Allison let out a slightly nervous before scooting close to James and slowly laying her head on his shoulder making James relax sighing happily.

“You smell like me.” Allison bluntly commented even if her tone was soft.

James let out small fond laugh, “Good.” He was happy using her shower things because he smelled like her now.

“You leave tomorrow?” Allison asked not realizing she had started playing with his bracelet but James did. She knew he was going to florida tomorrow for a playoff game before he would join the Bauer combine.

“Yeah mid day, you?” James asked back as he wrapped one of his sends around her back making her cuddle more into him. He sighed happily at how warm she is compared to how cold he always is.

“Me too.” Allison yawned, her eyes starting to fluttered shut as she was so comfortable.

“Night Coco.” James spoke softly as he kissed her forehead for the first time making her blink to process the kiss before relaxing more.

“Night J.” Allison softly mumbled to her boyfriend, her first real boyfriend.

James watched so happily as his girlfriend fell asleep before he gently pinched himself.
