It's a bit silly that when you do art for a living, people think you don't do emotional labor, but man. I've drawn for a guy who was planning to gift his gf an anniversary gift, and she passed away in the middle of me drawing it for them. I've drawn for a woman who wanted me to draw her daughters oc, and she randomly dropped;"It's my last gift for her because I've been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor". I've drawn rabbits, cats and dogs as memorial pieces for people and their beloved pets, I've drawn dnd group shots for sessions that lasted years, Now coming to an end because the dm died. I don't know. It feels so, immense to be a part of people's lives like this. I have cried so many times because people were cruel to me over commissions, but I have cried harder because people were kind to me. I wonder if the art helped. Even a little. I hope it did.

"Sex Scenes are soo unnecessary!!" Whenever I read this complaint, I think about this one paragraph from Eros The Bittersweet-

No matter how much you grow or evolve, you’ll never be able to escape your humanity, or how deeply certain things affect you. I’m learning this the hard way as I try to move on from a man I knew wasn’t right for me. It doesn’t matter how much you try to reason through your feelings; if your heart is attached to someone, logic won’t always be enough to let them go. You can tell yourself that the love or admiration you felt was more about the idea of them than who they truly were. You can admit they didn’t fully meet your needs, that someone better suited for you is out there, and that you made the right call by stepping away before falling even deeper.

You can acknowledge all of that and still miss them. Still feel the ache. Because emotions don’t always obey logic. The heart doesn’t care about what makes sense. It just feels what it feels.

I wish I had a clear answer for how to move through something like this. Maybe this is just the hopeless romantic in me talking. But I hope that, with time, I’ll come back with a new perspective, one that helps you find peace if you ever find yourself in the same place.
