🪽Wings Facility/Arena breakdown:
Wanted to explain all of this for people who are curious. Long read!!
The Wings organization and the city of Dallas have a contracted deal to bring the Wings to Dallas by 2026 which is GREAT thing!!! Currently they operate out of Arlington. For that to be possible they need an arena and a practice facility.
In about 4 days (June 11th) city council members will be voting on if they should put a pause on construction plans so that they can re-strategize. As of right now, $55 million has been approved to build the new facility. About $8 million has been approved for arena renovations. $5 million more was very recently approved to begin the design and planning process of the new facility.
Here’s the issue:
The practice facility was originally set to be built alongside the renovation of the Dallas Memorial Auditorium (part of Kay Bailey Convention Center), which is their new arena, but the renovation of that arena has been paused due to conflict with construction needs for the World Cup coming in 2026. Due to all that the Wings wouldn’t move to their new arena till 2027.
Because of all those issues, and the fact that the city is still under contractual obligation with the Wings to meet their needs by 2026, the city council has moved the facility to a new location near Joey Georgusis Park which is undeveloped land owned by the city. It’s flat, construction ready, and near two major airports. Sounds promising, but that area is still not downtown and about 30-35 minutes from downtown Dallas which is the same distance that they work with right now.
In short: If the vote remains as it has been (likely) they’re getting their new practice facility by April or May of 2026. It sounds like it’ll be its own dedicated space and won’t be shared with another public building/area. Their arena will be located downtown, which will be great for attendance, accessibility, and sales but won’t be available till 2027.
All in all, the City is very much behind the Wings and they are very, very committed to making sure they are a part of Dallas the way the Mavs are. The organization has also taken the steps to make sure they get the treatment from the city they deserve. With Paige now a part of the organization, the basketball aspect of things are under huge pressure to get things right and form a winning team.
All I’m saying is that if you choose to buy in and be patient, I think Paige and the fans will be rewarded hugely in time. This is pro sports. Things are complicated and political. Be patient when it comes to everything besides the coaching lol.

Creatures Of The Night Tour
Dallas County Convention Center Arena - Dallas, Texas
“Equipped with army tanks and loud music, KIϟϟ and the Plasmatics battled it out at the Dallas Convention Center Wednesday night. The question of which band is the most outrageous evolved into a full-fledged ‘musical’ war… If Neanderthals had had access to electronic instruments, they probably would have sounded a lot like the Plasmatics… KIϟϟ’ show seemed to be too slow-paced because each member of the band performed a lengthy, often uninteresting solo, perhaps to give the other band members a rest from the exhausting chore of being bigger than life… For all the rough and ravaged gestures of KIϟϟ’ performance, it was obvious that their show was as carefully staged as a ballet” (Dallas Morning Mail, 3/11/83)

Luka Dončić didn't buy new Dallas home before trade but another former Maverick did
In the aftermath of the Dallas Mavericks' shocking trade of Luka Dončić to the Lakers, much has been made of the fact that the Slovenian national was in the process of purchasing a new home in North Texas.
It seems like that deal was not completed — Dončić's business agent has said the NBA star was under contract but hadn't closed.
Tumblr media
But one of the other players traded to Los Angeles, Markieff Morris, did recently purchase a West Dallas home, Dallas Business Journal has learned.
It underscores the surprising nature of the trade and shows how the decision has far-reaching implications that reach into the residential real estate world.
Morris, who spent two seasons as a power forward for the Mavs, purchased the home Jan. 14, according to county records, or less than three weeks before the Feb. 1 trade.
The home is a two-story property with four bedrooms, four bathrooms and one half-bathroom across 3,556 square feet.
It was built in 2024.
Morris' agents did not respond to DBJ requests for comment but he told the the Kansas City Star he had purchased a Dallas home prior to the trade.
He told the publication he was "in shock" after finding out he had been traded alongside the 25-year-old Dončić, who was drafted by Dallas in 2018.
On a recent episode of "Twins and Wins" podcast hosted with his brother, Morris said he loved playing in Dallas and wished the trade had happened differently.
youtube
"I wish I would've known before, I wish I would've been able to set my mind on being traded," he said. "[And] been able to set my family on being traded, maybe not close on a house so soon and maybe purchase something else."
It is not clear if the home will return to the market now that Morris is playing in LA.
The Mavericks also traded Maxi Kleber to the Lakers and in return received Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick.

IRVING
Vote may hint at Mavs’ future
Council submits rezoning proposal that could be first step in relocating franchise
IRVING — During a Thursday work session, the Irving City Council reviewed and enthusiastically voted to initiate a rezoning application that, if adopted, could be an overture for luring the Mavericks from Dallas.
The zoning changes would apply to a 182-acre tract, an estimated 99% of which is owned by an entity connected to Las Vegas Sands Corp.
Tumblr media
Miriam Adelson is the largest shareholder of the Mavericks and, separately, Sands Corp.
Tumblr media
Her son-in-law, Patrick Dumont, is the Mavericks’ governor and Sands Corp.’s COO.
The zoning changes would create a high-intensity mixed-use area that in part would be earmarked for “an arena with a minimum of 15,000 seats and/or an indoor theater with a minimum of 4,000 seats.”
Other permitted uses within the tract would include a destination resort with one or more luxury hotels; spas; pools; and “may include Casino Gaming if authorized by the Constitution and laws of the state of Texas.”
Among other permissible uses: a convention center; heliport/air taxi pad; restaurants; food truck park; and indoor recreation “including but not limited to an athletic training facility.”
Tumblr media
Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer and multiple council members used the word “transformational” to describe the project while voting 8-1 to send the amendments to Irving Planning & Zoning.
If approved by P&Z during a March 17 public hearing, the council could vote as soon as March 20.
Tumblr media
Council member Kyle Taylor explained the reasoning behind the ambitious timeline.
“This allows us to maintain our seat at the table, in a table full of moving chairs,” he said, later adding:
“The applicant, they’re getting pursued by other people, and we know that. And I think this timeline is something to show that we are serious about it, to the largest private landowner in our city.”
Tumblr media
No one representing Sands Corp. spoke during Thursday’s work session, but afterward, Sands spokesperson Ron Reese texted a statement to : “As large scale developers it’s paramount we engage with local stakeholders in an effort to unlock the maximum economic benefit possible should future development take place.”
Tumblr media
The land is near State Highway 114 and Loop 12, across Highway 114 from the nearly 80-acre former site of Texas Stadium, the former Dallas Cowboys home that was demolished in 2010.
In late 2015, the city of Irving created Planned Unit Development No. 6.
It initially consisted of 716 acres — but now it spans 1,001 acres, an estimated 452 of which are deemed buildable land — including the Texas Stadium site and the potential arena/destination resort tract.
Although the potential arena site is in Dallas County, it is within Irving’s city limits, about 9 miles northwest of downtown Dallas.
In their 45-season history, Mavericks home games have been at Reunion Arena (1980-2001) and American Airlines Center (2001-present), both in downtown Dallas.
Tumblr media
Dumont and new Mavericks CEO Rick Welts consistently have stressed to The News that the franchise plans to fulfill its American Airlines Center lease, which expires in July 2031 — as does the lease of the co-tenant Dallas Stars.
‘They will be in Dallas’
Dumont and Welts also have consistently said “Dallas” is where the franchise hopes someday to build a new arena, most recently on Feb. 9, when Dumont emphatically squashed a rumor that gained legs in the aftermath of the franchise’s shocking trade of Luka Doncic.
“The Dallas Mavericks are not moving to Las Vegas,” Dumont told The News . “There is no question in that. That is the answer, unequivocally. The Dallas Mavericks are the Dallas Mavericks and they will be in Dallas.”
Perhaps it’s a matter of semantics.
Perhaps some perceive “Dallas County” to be the same as “Dallas,” or at least close enough.
And perhaps the Irving zoning changes, if adopted, largely would serve as leverage as the Mavericks continue to explore Dallas options.
For the Mavericks’ Feb. 10 home game against Sacramento, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson sat courtside between Dumont and Welts.
Older fans recall that, in the mid-1990s, founding Mavericks owner Don Carter pledged $65 million toward building a new arena on land that he owned in Lewisville.
When Lewisville voters in 1995 rejected a proposition that would have raised sales taxes to help fund the arena, Irving attempted to woo the Mavericks and Stars, with then-council member Jack Spurlock declaring:
“We are not here playing a game. We are ready, we want them and we have everything to offer.”
Ultimately, Carter sold controlling interest of the Mavericks in 1996 to Ross Perot Jr., and in 1998, Dallas voters approved a hotel and rental car tax to help fund what became the $420 million American Airlines Center.
Flash forward to 2023, when the specter of Irving as a potential arena site emerged even before the Adelson-Dumont purchase of the Mavericks from Mark Cuban was formally approved by the NBA on Dec. 27.
On Dec. 8 of that year, The News reported that an entity connected to Sands Corp. had in July purchased 108 acres in Irving.
At the time, Sands spokesperson Reese characterized the purchase as part of Sands’ general interest in the North Texas market.
“We build buildings of significant size and scale,” he said.
“This particular transaction certainly gives that opportunity, but there’s likely to be future purchases in the area.”
The entity connected to Sands, Village Walk Realty 2 LLC, in January 2024 purchased from Cuban the nearly 12-acre tract in Dallas’ Design District on which Mavericks headquarters and the team’s training facility sit.
No mention of Sands
The work session packet on the city of Irving website didn’t mention the Sands or Dumont by name. Dumont’s name was never uttered Thursday, and it wasn’t until an hour into the 90-minute discussion that council member Luis Canosa blurted “Village Walk, Sands, whatever it is” in reference to the property owner.
Tumblr media
Canosa was the only council member who voted to delay forwarding the proposed rezoning changes to P&Z, saying some of his District 4 constituents have expressed concern Irving seemingly is rubber-stamping casino gambling.
Tumblr media
That’s not the case, interjected Assistant City Manager Philip Sanders and council member Al Zapanta, explaining that the Texas Legislature and ultimately the state’s voters would have to legalize gambling.
Sanders reiterated to Canosa that, under the “permitted uses” of the zoning change, the destination resort, if it eventually includes casino gambling, must be at least 4 million square feet and gaming can only occur within that single structure or multiple interconnected structures.
“I’ve had some conversations with residents, and some of them seem to be concerned that this could be eventually like Vegas,” Canosa said.
Mayor Stopfer interrupted Canosa to point out that there have been two public meetings about the zoning changes and why they were being proposed, including a Jan. 16 Sands presentation to Irving’s city planning and development commission.
“I haven’t had a single resident tell me this is a bad project,” Stopfer said. “Period.”

OVERALL COMPANY
Gold Star is teaming up with VLive this quarter to host a special VLive relay as company promotion. This means that every artist under Gold Star Media (including the un-debuted members of Marigold and Quicksilver, who will do so under the moniker of Gold Star trainees) will be expected to do a solo VLive this quarter to participate in the relay. The date will be flexible with management, but it will be pre-scheduled and pre-announced and will need to last at least fifteen minutes, but can be longer. Due to delays in the finishing touches being put on the Base Culture Complex, BC, Dimensions, and Gold Star have also banded together to get some mediaplay opportunities and good media karma in the name of base by hosting a community service event each month together. Idols are encouraged to participate for good press, but they are not required to.

July 19: Volunteering opportunity at an animal shelter with BC & Dimensions idols.

Silhouette celebrates eleven years on the very first day of the quarter and will hold a group VLive to celebrate with their fans. They’re welcome to tease their upcoming comeback during that time as long as they don’t spoil too much, as it will have been announced by then. They come back on July 19th and the song does well to the standard of Silhouette’s last few releases. They also participate in festival season, having a few gigs booked to perform thanks to their general public appeal due to their longevity and mature image. They’ve also been chosen as ambassadors of LG phones and will record and film a special promotional single for the brand in August that will be released in September. On top of that, Silhouette is scheduled to release another mini-album before the year is out, which they’ll record in August after wrapping comeback promotions. In September, they’ll be learning the title track choreography and attending fittings.

It’s one of their more traditionally summer-themed releases and the response among both fans and the general public are mixed, but still generally positive. It’s not the hit song of the summer, but a full album makes fans happy (even if a sizable chunk of it is member solo tracks) and Aria continues to experiment with maturing their sound. They continue promotions through almost the end of the quarter with music shows and fan signs, and Gold Star has booked them for a few festivals to get the song out to more ears.

ORIGIN
Origin is expected to continue to practice their performance of their comeback throughout July and August, but they will be flying in and out of Osaka over this time period as they kickstart the Japan leg of their tour. Most of their time is still spent in Seoul, though, since they have plenty of comeback preparations still left to do such as fittings, teaser photo shoots, and the music video filming. During this time before they’re busy with promotions, they’ll also record their next mini-album. Their single “Dynamite” is released in August and as their first true English single is an even bigger success than anyone really expected, though Gold Star put in a lot of work on their end to make sure it was successful. It tops the charts in countries all over the world, including South Korea and the US, earning them the first ever Billboard Hot 100 #1 for an all-South Korean act and dominating the Korean charts for an impressive length of time. They might just have another song of the year in the bag. Promotions continue as normal, with music shows and performances for overseas media, though they won’t be having any fan signs since it’s a single release.

Once they get back from tour, they’ll be preparing for their Japanese comeback and their Korean comeback at the same time. FUSE
Activity finally kicks back up for Fuse this quarter. They’re in high gear for comeback preparations as they finish preparing to make their first comeback in what will be a few days over a year at the time of release. On top of that, they have some performances in the form of festival concerts and one in their role as Shilla Duty Free ambassadors, and they also wrap up their La Rouge concert tour in Yokohama a few weeks before their comeback. “Hands Up” earns mixed opinions, as Fuse singles have often done in the past, but the song does well enough to prove Fuse shouldn’t be dungeoned long-term.

↳ FUSE B&W
Fuse B&W continue to promote “Naughty” throughout June with the regular round of music show promotions. It’s praised for its choreography and brings some extra attention to the members of the sub-unit and makes fans a little less antsy about a full group comeback, as both of the sub-units promotions were intended to.
Important dates:
July 21: End of “Naughty” music show promotions.
FEMME FATALE
Femme Fatale starts the quarter by finishing getting everything ready for their comeback at the very end of July. Shortly before their comeback, they make a festival appearance, something that’s become rare for them lately, and fans are excited to see them participate in one again. “Ice Cream” does well because they’re Femme Fatale, but it isn’t the un-paralleled hit Gold Star might have hoped for, as it ends up being a polarizing release among fan opinion. Luckily, they’ll already be working on their first full-length album by the time they make that comeback. They’ll record the album throughout July and August, and during their time off of promotions in August, they’ll also be in the dance studio to practice choreography for “Lovesick Girls” and “Pretty Savage”. Once they’re done promoting “Ice Cream”, September will be dedicated to finishing up The Album and they’ll also do a shoot for American Elle, where they’ll appear on the cover for October’s issue.

September 16: “Lovesick Girls” M/V filming day two.
VIVE
Much like their debut quarter, this quarter is once again an incredibly busy one for Vive. They start it off with going overseas to the US for their showcase tour across the country. During their time in Chicago, they’ll film a special MV for their b-side “Our Summer”. Once they get back, they’ll performance at their first ever festival and they’ll work on getting down the choreography they’ll need to know for their next comeback (”Run Away”, “New Rules”, “Poppin’ Star”, “Can’t We Just Leave The Monster Alive?”, “Angel or Devil”) on rather short notice for how much they have to learn. Their Korean comeback is received well despite not garnering as much attention as their debut. There’s no time to bask in the glow of their first comeback, though as they’ll be busy all throughout late August and September prepping to make their Japanese debut by recording the mini-album. The group will also be recording their first ever OST in August, for release in September.
Important dates:
July 1: STAR in US showcase at Playstation Theatre in New York, NY, USA.

MARIGOLD
First things first, Marigold will film the dance covers they practiced last quarter over the course of July. They’ll be released one by one until the final cover is released the day Marigold’s debut is planned to be announced to the press. Marigold begins to prep for their debut release in earnest this quarter. They’re confirmed internally for a debut in the second half of October with a single album. They’ll be given the chance to listen to the demos in early July and will record the single album throughout July and early August. In August, they’ll practice hard on their choreography for the title “Hocus Pocus” and the b-side “Be Ambitious”. They’ll be expected to work extra hard on all aspects of their debut preparation since they have a lot to live up to with Gold Star’s track record of girl group success. Comeback prep starts to wrap up in September for them. At the end of September, the group’s dance line will film a special cover video with Dingo as pre-debut promotion.
Important dates:
July 6: “16 Shots” dance cover filming (to be released: July 13).
July 9: “Baby Don’t Stop” dance cover filming (to be released: August 13).
July 20: “No Tears Left To Cry” dance cover filming (to be released: September 13).

September 30: “Hocus Pocus” M/V filming.
QUICKSILVER
The debut of Quicksilver is closer, but they have more time to prepare than Marigold, so Gold Star has arranged for them to get some additional training in the form of a pre-debut reality show that will be released shortly before their debut. For the show, they’ll be traveling to Los Angeles for two two-week periods to train at famous dance studios in the city. They’ll stay in a house rented out by the company and, in addition to training, they’ll show their team bonding through sightseeing locations such as Santa Monica Pier and Universal Studios and holding weekly group meetings. During their second two-week block, they’ll also focus on recording a pre-debut song and filming a low-budget music video for it in Los Angeles (*Junyoung’s lines will go to main rapper/lead dancer). They’ll film the performance videos they’d be rehearsing for before they leave, and in September, they’ll practice to film a cover of Knight’s “Growl”, which will also be released but will also serve as a way for Gold Star to gauge their improvement as a result of filming the reality show before they begin preparing for their debut more intensely next quarter.
Important dates:
July 8: Performance video I, II, & main dancer/lead vocal solo cover filming (to be released August 1, September 1, & October 1 respectively).
July 12-25: First block of American Training show filming.
July 24: Bonus Clip filming.
August 9-22: Second block of American Training show filming.
September 23: “Growl” cover video filming (to be released: November 1).

This gig in Fort Worth was one of the shows Bob Harris once said he and his crew had intended to film for his proposed documentary. Footage of the stage setup was seen in the "American Dream" documentary on the News Of The World box set released in 2017 (as well as on the similar BBC documentary "Rock The World" the same year).
An audience tape of the show exists.

Creatures Of The Night Tour
Dallas County Convention Center Arena - Dallas, Texas
"Equipped with army tanks and loud music, KIϟϟ and the Plasmatics battled it out at the Dallas Convention Center Wednesday night. The question of which band is the most outrageous evolved into a full-fledged 'musical' war... If Neanderthals had had access to electronic instruments, they probably would have sounded a lot like the Plasmatics... KIϟϟ' show seemed to be too slow-paced because each member of the band performed a lengthy, often uninteresting solo, perhaps to give the other band members a rest from the exhausting chore of being bigger than life... For all the rough and ravaged gestures of KIϟϟ' performance, it was obvious that their show was as carefully staged as a ballet" (Dallas Morning Mail, 3/11/83)
