Everytime I have to discern what the fuck the doctor meant by an abbreviation, I briefly think abt the twitter users I saw at each other's throats for using BPD to mean borderline personality disorder OR bipolar disorder like the acronym would run out of uses and wonder what they'd think if they saw even one page of the Stedman's Medical Abbreviation dictionary

No, that 8-year-old regular human child would NOT be a self taught master hacker who can hack into 1) The Government ™️ or 2) The security program of an adult whose LITERAL SUPERPOWER is INTELLIGENCE. No, that 8-year-old regular human child would ALSO NOT beat SUPER POWERED ADULTS who have been training their craft OVER A DECADE in a fight.

Hey weird one but my session is just completely empty?
Like skaia isnt even here or anything, i just spawned in my house in the middle of the void, no enemies or anything
Had 4 total players if you include myself but can no longer contact my 3 coplayers in any way
Tried to check session id and it just reads 'NULL! SESSION_ID_INTEGER_VALUE IS USING INCORRECT FORMAT OR HAS EXCEEDED LIMIT (AH please fix this memory leak!)'
So uh i assume something is happening there?
Please help its creepy as fuck out here
Yeah, you got stuck in a sinkhole in the database. Trust me, I am on it. If this message got through, it means you are going to survive it and your co-Players as well. The other option is being retroactively erased completely and for good.
Sincerely

okay well we spent two hours doing a small group brainstorming/planning activity using projects from people’s work and that was actually fun—I love doing that kind of ideation and planning work with people. then we had to sit through 30+ min of whole-group debrief where people stood up and monologued breathlessly about feeling held by the collective as we harvested each other’s wisdom which almost ruined the experience. but luckily I came prepared with a challenge to work through in my head lol.
today’s zoning-out project is mapping out the basic research skills class I’ll be teaching in the spring quarter. one of the big problems I’ve identified in my info-gathering interviews is that students can’t do some pretty basic research things (like reading academic articles, evaluating sources, conducting lit reviews on a given topic, etc) and so faculty don’t want to take them on as summer research assistants because it’s a ton of work to train them in those skills AND familiarize them with the faculty member’s questions and methods AND give them a crash-course on the existing scholarship around this topic. so I am trying to pilot a thing where faculty get extra research funds for taking on a small group of summer students… but my office takes them for a quarter first, trains them in those basic skills and helps them build relationships with the librarians, and has them do all their major activities & assignments using real sources/data related to the faculty member’s project. that way students have 10 weeks to practice the skills and learn at least some of the research before we hand them off to the faculty mentors for the summer. I think we will also provide ongoing mentoring + student services-type support throughout the summer so we can continue working on project management and skill-building type stuff with them individually as they are conducting research… but for now I am focusing on drafting a version of the spring course to workshop with the faculty members who have expressed interest in participating. anyway I am at the very earliest stages but today while zoning out I spent some time trying to unbundle some of the skills that go into engaging with academic sources… needs refining (and maybe even some more unbundling?) but here is a first stab at it:

“A masterpost to keep in track of characters personality typed in Eternitydev’s 2 games, Alex Basics in Biology and Zoology (ABIBAZ) and Advanced Education with Viktor Strobovski (AEWVS). Keep in mind that this isn’t “official” (wiki-wised), but semi canon by psychological analysis of the characters, please also note that this is just for fun. :)”

Disclaimer: Beware and Cautious of Mistyping. There’s still a 50/50 chance that this is both accurate and inaccurate. Although I consider myself experienced for being into Personality Typing for a decade, there’s still flaws of my typology style and how I perceived/learn of it. So I suggest you to keep an eye of what’s wrong, and this will eventually be corrected. Thank you.

Rebloging again! Since your post gave me the push to jump right in and make 2 websites on Neocities. 😄 Since yesterday but I progress ok. Also with .ca domain. 😺
How To Make Your Own Fanfiction Archive, In Just Ten Easy Steps
As the go-to "person who knows about AO3" for quite a few people who read fanfic but aren't really linked-in to wider fandom culture, I've fielded a lot of questions about how to do certain things on AO3 to which my best answer is "you should really start your own archive!" I think, in general, more fans starting their own small archives would be a net good for fandom. AO3 was never meant to be the only archive for all fandom, or even the main archive, and the more spread out and backed up we are the more resilient we are.
But of course I have to be reminded that a lot of fans these days don't really have any idea how little "you should start your own archive!" really involves. (Also, that I should practice what I preach.) So I am now making my own fanfiction archive, and writing up this post as I do it to tell people how to make theirs!
Go to https://neocities.org/ and sign up for an account. It only needs a username (which will also be your website address), password, and email. Pick a username that will be related to your archive's title!
Choose the free account option (if you ever need more than what the free account offers for a text-only archive, you should probably look into graduating from neocities.) This should take you to a menu of "how to make a website" tutorials. You should do them! They're useful skills. But let's get your archive running first.
Hit the big red Edit Site button, or open the menu under your username and select "Edit Site".
Select the "Index.html" file to edit. You're now in an HTML Editor. Congrats, you're a web developer c. 1999!
Find where it has text between the < title> tags. Delete the filler text, and put in the title of your new archive. This text will be what shows on the tab when people go to your archive.
Find where it has text between the < h1 > tags. This will be big header text at the top of your page. Put the title of your archive here again. If you have no experience with HTML, you should read over the other sample text. It covers the basic basics very well! Once you've done that, you can delete everything else between the < /h1> tag and the < /body> tag. Save your index.html file.
Get an HTML file for a fanfic you would like to add to your archive. If it's on AO3, you can use the html download option built into AO3. If you have it as a word processor/google docs file, you should have the option to save as an html file. Save that html file to your computer.
Go back to Edit Site on Neocities and go to "upload". Find the html file you saved and upload it. (You can also drag and drop files to upload.)
The file you uploaded should now be showing with your other neocities files. Right-click on the title and select "copy link".
Go in to edit index.html again. Under where you put your header text, type < br> < a href=" . Then paste in the link you copied. Then type "> Then put in the title of the fic. Then type < /a> . Then save the index page again when you're done. You can do this for every fanfic you have.
Congratulations! You now have your very own personal private fanfiction archive that you are 100% in charge of and make all the rules for. It's at least as good as half the ones I was reading on when I started reading fanfiction and will serve its function well as a way to let people read your fic. You can link to it from anywhere you want! (Including your AO3 profile.)
Blogpost version, with FAQs and discussion
Anyway, here's my beautiful new fanfiction archive made using this tutorial:
Melannen's Fanfiction Archive
(I am honestly way more disproportionately proud of finally making that than I expected to be. It's nice to have your own archive.)
If you make one, share it here ! I want to see!

Toward an Integrated Resource Hub: The Case for a Curated Master List of Publicly Available Research Databases
Abstract Despite the exponential growth of publicly available scientific and scholarly databases, the lack of centralized, user-friendly access to these resources remains a persistent barrier for students, researchers, educators, and independent learners. This paper outlines the rationale for curating a comprehensive, categorized list of publicly accessible databases across scientific and…

hey so I work in the supplements industry (as a database admin not sales) and this? 100% accurate
the people working with it are not comprehensively trained and some of them seem to barely have a highschool understanding of chemistry/biology: I met a guy who while ostensibly "fully trained" to give people recommendations on herbal supplements (ie. semi-unregulated (I'm in Canada so there are some regulations) compounds that can significantly impact your health if not taken with the utmost care, re above) didn't know what a damn polysaccharide was. or that dietary fibre is largely just indigestible cellulose which is sugar and different sugars digest differently.
but past the lack of information or actual training the thing that bugs me the most is how the entire industry is fully blurred between stuff that IS medically relatively sound and stuff that isn't
Like. vitamins and minerals get lumped into "complimentary" medicine a lot of the time and those largely (not always) DO have genuinely useful and medically studied effects and effectively measured doses! iron and vitamins b12 and C deficiencies can in fact be treated with supplements. whether vitamin D and magnesium do much as a supplement is a bit more iffy research-wise but there's some decent work looking at magnesium to help with migraines and stuff and I can say it does actually seem to do something for me.
HOWEVER. you put those on a shelf next to fucking. homeopathic "holy basil" and St. John's wort pills and garlic pills and it just muddles the entire damn thing. actually studied vitamins and minerals next to a damn 50$ vial of water with the same amount of active ingredient as it would if someone waved a leaf over and the medieval "will kill a fetus before it kills you probably if you're lucky" abortion pills I don't hate this shit because it doesn't work: I hate it because it's extremely unpredictable and you can't predict when it'll work. And it will!
and the issue with that is people treat it so lightly. like. even if we're assuming that the compounds in these herbals are being isolated and dosed effectively and there are no unlabelled add-ins (which is a hard assumption but for the sake of the argument) people treat it like it's "just herbs" instead of (ostensibly) medicine. if doctors should not be telling everyone "eh just take this strong gallbladder medication for a month or two, see if it does anything" without comprehensive testing to see if the patient actually has a gallbladder issue, why the *fuck* are these "natural health advisors" doing that with what's supposed to be the equivalent in herbals?
for a lesser example of people taking things very lightly: it's happened at least twice but I just remember this occasion where a coworker from the sales floor came back to the office with an innocuous looking bottled drink like "hey these just expired you want one": I grabbed an ice tea, took a swig, and then ten minutes later I was flat on my desk struggling to keep my eyes open because AS IT TURNS OUT the drink was laced with ashwaghanda. which is a stimulant. which makes me exhausted (same as coffee).
this wasn't entirely unpredictable: I've got adhd and respond atypically to a lot of stimulants and stuff. Guess what a lot of "helps you focus and makes your brain work better" supplements are? Yeah.
This is a pretty mild example of a bad side effect ("annoyingly tired at work for a day") but. you don't just dose people with stimulants without telling them they're stimulants! those drinks were just up by the counter in a cooler labeled as ice tea! they didn't have any caffeine in them so they weren't labeled as having caffeine: people don't know what ashwaghanda is! what if someone had heart problems! my "ugh why am I so tired" response to stimulants is extremely minor by comparison to the problems someone with other conditions might have!
--yeah. it's fucked. don't take anything if you haven't done comprehensive research on it and you know (and it's POSSIBLE to know) exactly what and how much of what is in it. and especially don't give it or suggest it to other people.
When you say you're anti-CAM what does that mean? Like what does CAM mean in that context? I genuinely haven't seen that acronym before and I'm assuming you aren't anti-camming as in like the form of sex work
Complimentary and Alternative Medicine.
I am capable of turning off my inner annoying atheist, I am incapable of turning off my inner annoying quackwatcher.
I have had real life fights with people I genuinely love about this and I do not regret it. I will absolutely not regret shitting all over someone's $500 herbalist certification.

Oracle database management is a vital IT service that ensures the seamless operation of Oracle-based systems across various enterprises. As businesses in the USA increasingly rely on data to drive their operations, having an optimized and well-managed Oracle environment becomes a strategic advantage.
Database management involves the implementation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and tuning of Oracle databases. It helps prevent data loss, performance degradation, and system downtime, which could otherwise cost businesses thousands in losses.
