DHJ Project #14 - In Darkness, Light

This is the 14th piece in my DHJ project - I basically took a pause from it because of different reasons including stress and depression but now, here I am. I had a (moderated) zoom call with David Haydn-Jones himself a while ago and I mentioned I had the idea of Jewish Ketch. I'm glad I managed to put it into life. The drawing is inspired by my story In Darkness, Light.

Ketch tries to save Dean

A/N: I wanted angst and drama. Enjoy the Drabble. Yes, happy endings coming soon. 😉

“I care about you too much to let you do this to yourself again,” Ketch pleads, standing before Dean in the Men of Letters bunker next to the war table in tactical gear unlike Dean who is in his usual flannel, tshirt, blue jeans, and boots.

“Again? I haven’t done it once,” he scoffs. This would be a convincing lie but Ketch has worked with Dean and can read the man well.

“Every time you drink and drink, what do you think you’re doing? Every time as of late when you go fight the supernatural, what do you think you’re doing when you go alone and know you shouldn’t be? Self-medicating?” Ketch laughs condescendingly.

Dean rolls his green eyes at the man before him with an exasperated sigh.

“You’re too important, Dean. Even your angel knows that,” Ketch explains, frowning. His brow furrowed looking straight into those brilliant green eyes of the man he feels a deep affection for.

“Not you too”. Dean scoffs. “Ketch,” the Hunter whines his name. Ketch subtly adjusted his hips, wishing the situation was different for Dean to say his name like that. “I could give a fuck but I don’t,” Dean growls and points towards the door. “Get out.”

Ketch glares. He readjusts his stance, standing to his full height, and takes a few steps closer, leaving mere inches. “You’re not giving up. You’re not. You’re Dean fucking Winchester. You are the boogeyman to the supernatural and the hero to so many hunters and men of letters.”

Dean laughs out loud and holds his belly. He leans forward into the man, nearly losing balance. “You are so full of shit, Ketch.”

Ketch purses his lips together with a raised eyebrow as he watches the hunter's insulting behavior. “If I prove to you, you’re wrong; will you stop this self-sacrificing bullshit?” The former Men of Letters agent challenges.

Dean straightens up and wipes his face with his hand as he works to calm himself. “Sure.” He shows Ketch a smug smile, disbelieving anyone would view him or his family like that.

“Promise?” Ketch confronts, knowing the Winchester word is nearly bullet proof.

Dean’s brows furrow, nearly scowling as he searches over Ketches face. “Yeah.”

Ketch grins, taking out his phone. Unfortunately Ketch has grown too trusting of the hunter for he didn’t expect Dean to grab the chair next to them and smash it into his head, knocking the poor man unconscious.

REGARDING J2+Baby:

Absolutely mindblowing experience. I don't like being in photos and this is no exception, butttt I will always treasure the moment. My OP partner and I had discussed some complex ideas which in retrospect seem pretty silly since they hurried you through line far too rapidly for any involved posing. My OP partner rushed to embrace Jensen and Jared, being considerate/going with the flow, began pulling me into a similar hold. I informed him I don't like physical contact, and he recOILED like a kicked puppy ; you can see his one arm still drawn back. I told him we cOULD thumb wrestle, tho and suddenly, we were mortal enemies, bwaha. He absolutely let me win, ok. It happened so fast, I hardly had the chance to look at Jensen or Baby ( though I did other times luckily! ) and pHEW, that was it: I really met the three leads of Supernatural, yo.

REGARDING David Haydn-Jones:

So. That is not us posing with David nor Arthur Ketch --this is Randy Ketch! his second cousin who's part of the Canadian Men of Letters. He references it in panel and, fuck, hilarious, we just needed to prove him wrong about Randy's appeal! I was trying to play ~cheesy~ but ended up looking like someone's grampa, oof. I should be the one behind the camera at all times ok

REGARDING Kim&Brianna:

This was post-PJ Party! I struggled to enjoy the event itself tho the hosts were glorious and interactive, totally a me-thing. Anyway, they did selfies at the end and, again, I'm not made for being in picturessss. If it looks like a hostage situation, that's because it was, ahem.

SUPERNATURAL - 12x22|Who We Are

Can we just talk about how Mick is when he first appears in 12x02? First thing we see out of him is him looking into Toni's SUV where Dean, Cas, and Mary had stashed the body of one of his former colleagues, Ms. Watt. And he's pissed. He's on the phone, threatening Toni. He tells her she's been a bad girl, basically blames her for Watt's death, and says he's coming to "fetch" her. Then when he shows up on the scene (after mother dearest decided she was going to beat the shit out of Toni), he offers them an olive branch. Stating that if he truly was their enemy, there's many different ways where he could've come in there and taken them all prisoner but he comes unarmed, instead. He promises them that Toni will see punishment for her behavior in London, refusing to let the Winchesters have their way with her. And he offers to work with them, rather than against them, telling them to cool down and think on it. "What have you got to lose, except your worst nightmares?" He acknowledges the power of Castiel, knowing from his research that it's not advisable to challenge an Angel. He sighs, having already had a long enough day, when Cas gets cocky about it and hands him his number (seeing as Cas was the closest one to him). He then later, when driving Toni to the airport, debates with her on her methods. Him seeing hers as rash and unreasonable and her seeing it simply as doing what needs to be done. He tells her she's getting on that plane, like it or not (not taking "no" for an answer). And that he's called Ketch and he's coming to clean up her mess. Now, the only time he would've had to call him is when he was driving from where Watt was to where Toni was. Having to one, call in the report of her death so her body can be handled properly and two, vent to his best friend about their ex-girlfriend being a little bitch so when he did show up, he didn't kill her, himself. It's all something to think about.

The fact that Mick literally went from "fuck you, bitches, this is what we're gonna do" to not knowing how to function properly without a Winchester telling him what to do breaks my heart. What the fuck did he do to deserve any of that? They don't even know the first thing about him. They don't know the consequences of disobeying the Code. They are the fucks that need to get in line, not the Brits.
