#principal skinner pride flag for my gay little dogs #you see this is why my dog people need to see the same spectrum of colors we do #I feel like their literal world view would be drastically altered if they couldn't distinquish between orange and green #I'd argue that red is a significant color in practically every culture #it's instinctual associations with danger food and fertility make it attention grabbing on a visceral monkey brain level #I strongly suspect the impact would be at least somewhat negated if it was a muted brownish khaki instead #meaning it wouldn't be used in visual communication nearly as much #I would have to center my art and worldbuilding more around yellow and blue because those would be the colors the dogs would see clearly #right? is that sound logic?#and that would just make me immensely sad because warm colors are my favorites :<#answered #m0notropa-uniflora #something that continues to boggle my mind is that there are animals that see more colors than humans #we like to assume that our color vision is the best we can see it ALL look at that rainbow there that's the full set #yes primates are well equipped in this regard compared to many other mammals like dogs #but most birds for example have more color receptors in their eyes they have more tools to work with and their rainbow is even wider #it's like sound everyone knows we can't hear sounds that are impossibly low or too high #and we can't process wavelengths of light that are too long (infrared) or too short (ultraviolet)#only what lands between those bookends (called the visible spectrum) reads to our human eyes as “light” and subsequently “color”#I hope I've understood this correctly I'm trying to say that there's a whole layer of vision we don't have the hardware to get access to #and that's just wild to me like we are fundamentally unable to imagine a new color that isn't already included in our built-in selection #but they're definitely there the unimaginable colors are in the room with you and a common pigeon can see them #uv dlc not available for your system

#sonadow #shadow takes his job very seriously #do not test a guy who has a 20 step skincare routine #sonic is definitely a scruffy little thing who damn near never brushes himself #shadow will make sure!!! that he is left shiny and smelling like freshly ironed laundry instead of dirt #idk there is something so....cute about this that i have never thought about before and i think shadow despite being a hybrid is #much better at doing things like this and less bashful compared to sonic who is just a stinky guy by default #he would be grumpy but very nurturing. i think it would give him a sense of calm to bond like this #sonics of course a little taken aback at his enthusiasm but its a pleasantly welcome surprise from someone like shadow esp #idk what level the relation between them would have to have progressed to for sth like this to even happen but yknow #simply. when he licc. it makes my heart melt #i almost cried drawing this.....i love shadow....#almost forgot to tag #sonic the hedgehog #shadow the hedgehog #my art

everyone loves talking about little jon in correlation to mr. spider but no one ever talks about how insufferable this kid was. i wouldn’t wish sitting next to him in class upon my worst enemy

my favourite amputee & prosthetic resources

disclaimer: i am not an amputee or limb different person in any way. this is just a short post on resources from amputees and limb different people that i find very interesting and educational. if you find issue with this post or the links here, please tell me!

i mostly use these resources for designing osc gijinkas and for imagining those gijinkas in various situations as with any other character (e.g. since arm prosthetics are quite difficult to use, i like to learn about how exactly a character born without arms might prefer to use their feet for most activities). you can use these resources just to learn for the sake of learning. you can use them for making ocs. you can use them for gijinkas. whatever you like, i just hope this can be helpful :)

number 1

the channel is almost entirely in French but the visuals work just fine (and many videos on here have english captions, and iirc some are spoken in english too). this is super useful if you wanna learn more about people with a total lack of arms, especially because she doesn't have any arms from the very Top of her shoulders. she doesn't use prosthetics (can't, she doesn't have enough residual limb) and was born this way which gives a really interesting insight into how people without arms live daily life.

this video is what i mainly base my nickel gijinka's prosthetic on! intriguing look into how body-powered prosthetics work as fully mechanical devices. no electric components.
