“O amor, quando verdadeiro, quer ser proclamado aos quatro ventos, quer ser cantado com a alma e o coração. Por isso o maior elogio que se fez ao amor nas Escrituras judeu-cristãs se chama "Cântico dos Cânticos". O místico São João da Cruz que experimentou o amor radical escreveu as ‘Canções de Amor entre a Alma e Deus’. Aí canta esta verdade universal: ‘olha que a doença de amor não se cura senão pela presença e a figura’.

O amor não pode ser platônico, ele quer sentir a presença e quer tocar a figura. Ele é a exaltação a ponto de levar a ‘fazer um samba sobre o infinito’ e ser a ‘palavra que liberta’. Mas é também o singelo gesto de quem confessa ‘toda vez que saio me preparo para talvez te ver’ porque ’no peito há vazio, há falta de alguém’. É o amor que torna as pessoas importantes, quer dizer, que faz com que nos importemos com a pessoa amada, encontrada ‘no meio de tanta gente’. Mas se o amor não encontra amor, "a vida para mim terminou", mais ainda "é como se perder de Deus". Mas se o amor encontra outro amor sabe ‘isso me acalma, me acolhe a alma, isso me ajuda a viver’.”

Paixão eterna de minha vida

“O amor romântico é uma invenção artificial e contrária à verdadeira natureza humana. Ouvimos isto o tempo todo hoje em dia e, quanto mais velhos ficamos, mais pensamos acreditar que é assim mesmo. Olhar em torno às vezes também confirma a crença. Existirá, sim, paixão, exacerbação temporária dos sentidos e da razão, mas amor mesmo, do jeito que equivocadamente existia para as gerações de vagos tempos antigos, é ilusa, é no mínimo tentativa voluntarista e neurótica de enquadrar o mundo onde ele não pode encaixar-se. Os felizes para sempre acabaram, a entrega, a renúncia, o arrebatamento, o enlevo perene se foram para nunca mais voltar.

Ah, que coisa chata ficar filosófico ou, pior ainda, ter delírios psicanalíticos, quando se fala em amor. Vale a pena discutir a persistência do amor, não é empresa vã questionar o amor, alguém que sabe da indignação sobre a natureza humana, quando se está encegueirado de amor? Claro que não. Lembro uma história que de vez em quando conto, sobre o dia que um velho amigo meu entrou de surpresa em meu escritório e me encontrou soterrado sob resmas de papel embaralhadas e a ponto de arrepanhar tudo e socá-lo na cesta do lixo. Que diabo estava eu fazendo ali - queixei-me -, escrevendo uma história que nunca havia acontecido, povoada de gente que nunca tinha vivido, que loucura absurda era aquela? Ele respondeu que não sabia, mas que de uma coisa estava certo. Desde que o homem aprendeu a falar, mesmo bem antes de conceber a escrita, sempre houve alguém para contar histórias e outros querendo, ou até precisando, ouvir essas histórias. Portanto, disse ele, não fabrique perguntas inúteis, não adianta perguntar nada. Alguém sempre estará fazendo o que você está fazendo agora e, portanto, para alguma coisa há de servir; sente aí e escreva, cumpra sua sina sem buscar respostas que nunca vai ter.

E me lembro também de quando, apaixonado pela primeira vez e cruelmente ignorado, me via em casa, sentado na poltrona grande do gabinete de meu pai, em devaneios sonhadores entremeados de soluços, tudo na vida, tudo o que me interessava, encarnado na figura loura de sorriso claro que não me queria, que não sabia da grandeza de meu amor, jamais por impossível, sentido assim por qualquer outra criatura, não tinha vontade nem de saber como seríamos felizes juntos, como era puro o meu coração e absoluta a minha devoção. Havia uma música com o nome dela e eu punha o disco na vitrola uma vez atrás da outra e , em verdade lhes digo, nunca ninguém sofreu de amor assim.

Com exceção de todo mundo, é claro. Pois quem não passou por isso? Quem não perdeu o fôlego, não sentiu o corpo inteiro latejar, a cabeça flutuar desgovernada, a paisagem se iluminar e tudo mais perder a importância, às vezes somente por causa de um olhar, uma palavra, um sorriso, um toque leve de mão? Quem não sentiu as pernas desfalecendo e a alma tresvariada, no instante de um primeiro beijo? E quem não se julgou o mais infeliz dos seres, transmutado em raiva, despeito, lágrimas e tristeza inextinguível, por causa de um aceno indiferente, um dito condescendente, uma traição sem remédio, uma despedida sem retorno?

Todos já se sentiram assim, nenhum compreendeu. Se alguém tivesse realmente compreendido, aí, de fato, não haveria mais amor romântico. Mas há. Imperfeito como a condição humana, passageiro como a vida, mas há. O que meu amigo disse sobre contar histórias pode ser dito do amor. Não adianta fazer perguntas, procurar qualificá-lo, tentar desvelar seus segredos, acusá-lo de falso e enganador. Ele apenas é. E por isso, não só entre os gregos, mas em toda parte, sempre houve, há e haverá um Orfeu descendo ao inferno para buscar sua Eurídice.

Jeff Mills is considered the most brilliant DJ and producer of Techno Music in the World. He is the most recoｇnized representative figure of Detroit Techno , where he began his career as a DJ on the WDRQ radio in 1984. He has created with “Mad Mike Banks” the collective “Underground Resistance”, which became a reference in the electro sphere. In 1992, Jeff Mills created his own label in Chicago :with “Axis”, he could keep his artistic independence and produce his own timeless electronic music compositions, inspired of science fiction. Jeff Mills’ artistic career goes much further than techno music.

For over a decade, he’s been transcending disciplines with a large number of collaborations in contemporary art. Interested in cinema and attracted by images, Jeff Mills started working, in 2000, on the fusion of image and sound. In 2000, he created and presented at the Centre Pompidou a new sound track for the film “Metropolis” by Fritz Lang. A year after, he created “Mono”, an installation inspired by the movie “2001, a Space Odyssey”, by Stanley Kubrick. In 2004, Jeff Mills produced the DVD “Exhibitionist” which presents DJ sets filmed from various angles (from front, top and side). At that same period, he acquired a new tool, the DVJ-X which allowed him to manipulate image and sound together paving the way into the Art World.

In 2005, Jeff Mills made, for MK2, a new sound track for the silent movie “Three Ages” by Buster Keaton, and created a serie of 6 video art works presented in Paris at the Galerie Georges-Philippe et Nathalie Vallois and at the « rendez-vous vidéo » of the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Rouen. Jeff Mills continued this work period with a production on Josephine Baker, presented during the FIAC 2005 in the Grand Palais.

On July 2nd 2005, Jeff Mills played together with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Montpellier, for the 20th anniversary of the Pont du Gard's inclusion in the world heritage list by UNESCO. Together with the orchestra, Jeff Mills performed his own compositions, orchestrated by Thomas Roussel for this occasion. In 2007, he was invited by the movie director Claire Denis to create the sound environment of the exhibition « Diaspora » at the musée du quai Branly in Paris.. That same year, Jeff Mills received the title of « Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres» from the French ministry of Culture. In 2008, Jeff Mills was commissioned to create a comtemporary installation for 100 Year Anniversary of the Futurist Manifesto at the Pompidou Center.

O Village Underground Lisboa lança uma noite em nome próprio, será bimestral e começa sexta-feira, 31 de Janeiro. Depois de já ter sido a casa dos principais promotores locais e palco de festas de alguns dos mais interessantes agitadores internacionais, chega a vez de Inatel, uma noite 100% de curadoria musical VU . Não é a primeira vez que o espaço promove uma noite em nome próprio, as festas Madame e o mítico aniversário do Village que acontece em Maio, são exemplo de festas em que a programação musical fica a cargo do espaço, mas Inatel marca o início de um novo ciclo, e traz à sala indoor do VU um conceito que tem sido esquecido e ultrapassado, pela necessidade de encher lineups. For the first night, Village Underground has chosen a long time well known techno duo from Lisbon, Stereo Addiction. The duo is Gustavo and John-E who have played together in London, Berlin, Serbia, Japan, Brasil and all the main festivals in Portugal. Gustavo is the producer of all events at Village and is behind the scenes of all the major techno festivals in Portugal including the dance temple at boom festival. As John-E continues to play for the most underground and great parties all over Lisbon. Easy Log Slabbin Stand – 2×6’s and Bolts – Check it out!

Y’all may have seen recently that I’ve started playing around with log slabbin’. It wasn’t until I built the log lifting trailer, harpooned a couple of logs, then got them back to the shop, before I realized I would need some sort of stand to set the logs on while I slab them up. After combing through the inter-web for some basic design inspiration, I settled on a collapsible model made from some basic 2×6 material and a hand full of tools that would slip perfectly into a stocking stuffer for your special DIY girl or guy. Here’s how it all came together:

I began by cutting some 2×6 to about 30” long with a 45 on each end. These pieces get joined together with a shoulder bolt which allows the pieces to pivot. Im using a 1/2” bolt with two nuts installed per bolt. The nuts get torqued into one another to ensure the bolt does not lose over time and it ensures the two pieces of material don’t get squeezed too tight and fail to slide past one another easily.

To drill the bolt holes I’m using a light Makita hand drill and these Daredevil Spade Bits by Bosch. Not only are they inexpensive at 20 bucks for a lot of 12 bits, but they also have some cool features that help produce a nice through hole.

The centering tip of the bits is fully threaded up it’s tapered profile which helps keep the paddle bit pulling through the wood. I surprised at how the bit feels as though its just driving itself through the material and how little I was having to push the bit through the hole.

Once all the holes were drilled, and the X’s were joined using nut and bolt hardware, I used a couple more 2×6’s as cross members to join them together.

Understanding how tall the top ends of the X needed to be was a bit of a gamble. I knew I needed something somewhat tall for a large log but if I cut it too tall then the top of the X would get in the way of my log slabbing mill. Basically, I was just shooting from the hip during the entire construction of this thing so it was no surprise I needed to do a little post process cutting.

To whack the tops of these 2×6’s off I used yet another inexpensive piece of gear that zipped right through the material like a hot knife through butter. Enter the Diabo 9”Wood Cutting Recip. Saw Blade. Diablo has been killing it in the recIip-saw blade industry lately and makes quality cutting super affordable.

Aside from the 2×6 getting cut to a more manageable length, I also cut down the extra thread on the bolt tails using another Diablo blade used for cutting medium metals with it’s carbide teeth. If you think that cutting metal with a sawzall sounds like a ride on a mechanical bull for your forearms you’d be for fitting the opportunity to feel just how smooth these metal cutting blades perform. With their permashield coating and 10 tooth per inch design, these metal cutting blades really smooth out the entire cutting process and don’t leave your forearms feeling like jelly after a days worth cutting

The stand worked perfectly for my first log! I was so darn happy to have a slab of wood cut from my very own labor : ) Typically, one would allow a slab to dry according to its thickness before beginning to work with it. BUT! I recently got my hands on a new flattening jig from Woodpecker Tools and couldn’t wait to test drive it.

Flattening jigs can be made from basic materials and a router and work a lot like a conventional upright mill in a machine shop. Wit a large surfacing bit, you find the high spot of the material and slowly mill away material from the highest spot to the lowest spot to create a level, flat plane.

The only down side to this entire operation is the DUST! Holy moly does this process make a mess. I had sawdust every where! The mess on the work bench was knocked out pretty quick using another little tool that all shops oughtta have; a basic shop-vac. The Home Depot sent me this 4.5 Gallon, 5 horsepower Shop Wet/Dry Vac from Ridgid. It comes with 20′ of cord, a three layer filter, and has enough sucking power to pull a golf ball thorough a garden hose lol….ok maybe not that much but this thing is plenty stout for shop use. Ridgid changed up the design on this model and made it look a bit more like a tool box which stores all of the bits inside small enclosures instead of crowding up the exterior like the conventional modes. With a little bit of work this thing knocked out my ultra messy workbench in no time!
