Free SEO advice for businesses as Archant's Digital Decoded workshops return

Free Digital Decoded workshops will give businesses inside track on SEO

A series of free workshops aims to give businesses across Norfolk and Suffolk the skills they need to survive and thrive in the online world.

Digital Decoded will equip guests with the tools and understanding to make sense of digital marketing and find out how they can make their business stand out from the crowd online.

The first round of seminars last autumn attracted more than 300 businesses, and this year’s programme has been modelled around the feedback received, with a particular focus on search engine optimisation (SEO).

Jamie Brown, who will be leading the sessions for Archant’s learning and development team, said the sessions would cut through the jargon of the subject.

“Businesses often get mixed advice, conflicted advice or just plain bad advice, so we want to demystify it. We put it in plain speaking terms and give people actionable points they can take away which will make a tangible difference to their business,” he said.

Among the topics covered will be how to stand out in local search, even if you don’t have premises, and the basic steps businesses need to take to get the most from their website.

“There will also be explanations of how Google is changing, how keywords are no longer king, and a simple overview of how a search engine answers queries with content,” added Mr Brown.

Following the presentation, smaller groups will be formed to explore topics including SEO, display advertising, video, websites, pay-per-click advertising, social media and content marketing.

Archant has been working with Google recently on the Local Recall project, which will digitise the publisher’s regional newspaper archive and make it available to voice search through smart devices, and also conducts its own research on SEO.

The workshops will be held at four venues, with two sessions each day, at 8.15am and 11.30am.
They will be held at:

 The Forum, Norwich – Tuesday, October 2;

 Great Yarmouth Racecourse – Wednesday, October 3;

 West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds – Thursday, October 4;

 Wherstead Park, Ipswich – Friday, October 5.

Taichi grinned as he saw the little dragon, instinctively kneeling down to get a better look at the Rookie stage. It was the first time he'd seen a Digimon in the 'flesh' like this in a long time, and he was more than excited to meet this one. 

While he wanted dearly to reach out and pat the little guy on the head, he instead lifted it to look at the green haired girl nearby. 

"Oh, sorry- are you his partner?" he asked, rising to his feet. "He looks like a strong little guy, too! You should be proud of how you raised him," he nodded assuredly before extending his hand.

"Name's Taichi, it's nice to meet you!"

"Hearing you talking about never losing makes me curious~" //: Rina smiles coquettishly. "Maybe I'm not that great of tamer like you, Taichi-kun, but I bet I could beat you at arcade games!"

"Well, I did have the best Digimon out of everyone in my school! Still do, actually!"

"And I'm always 100% ready for a challenge."

Magnamon's eyes widened in curiosity as he spotted the teenaged girl and her Veemon companion. In truth, the young Knight was developing a healthy curiosity in the human species and the chance to see and talk to a new one was one he was simply too eager to pass up. 

And that Veemon... he never expected to catch a glimpse of the form he'd once carried himself. Shaking away that bittersweet memory, he came down to a light hover nearby, the gleaming, golden Knight staring at them with an almost innocent expression behind the stiff mask covering his full face.

"I hope the two of you aren't lost! It can be very dangerous in the Digital World sometimes, even if it's a partnered pair."

Especially if it's a partnered pair, depending on who one ran into.

"Nice to meet you! My name is Magnamon, of the Royal Knights," he said with a small bow.

"Well, I'd say it's pretty good! I mean, Zero and I had to travel around Folder a few times and we didn't get lost too much."

Though that may have also been because they actually had Gabo with them too to help them out.

"Yeah, we were pretty good when we didn't even have a map! And now most of the time, I kind of have a gps thing programmed so I'm always good at reading directions! Which is kind of necessary when you're patrolling."

"I guess I'm pretty neutral about it. Though it is funny when I just barely get to be "taller" than someone taller than me because of how weird my hair is, you know?"

"And pretty much everyone is shorter than I am. Though it does impress me whenever I see someone taller than me. Which is pretty much every day, considering most of those are the "big three" Royal Knights."

"Pretty good, I'd say. I mean, I'm kinda in disbelief I've already been away from home for a year now, but I'm a lot calmer and not as worried as I used to be! So that could only be a good thing..."

"I really like tea. It's kind of silly, but... all kinds of that.  And I'm pretty cool with just about any kind of food, but, well. I do want to try some of that meat on a bone again, which was something Zero and I ate a lot back in the Digital World. That was some really good food!"

"I usually just drink water and have no reason for anything else. Though, I still love meat just as much as I loved it when I was younger! Also I have grown fond of the human food "tacos"."

2: Do they have any daily rituals?

Well, I stretch my wings every day after getting up. it helps, especially if they're feeling sore if I sleep on them wrong. After that, I always make sure my most priceless treasure is still where I left it. I'd feel horrible if I ever misplaced it. 

7: Favorite way to waste time and feelings surrounding wasting time

My favorite way to waste time? Eating tacos and flying around the human world. It's a lot of fun to do, especially if I can get tacos from other people. That's kind of my favorite human world food, heh. Wasting time  isn't something I like doing often, though, since there's so much work. Even if Gallantmon is the chief programmer of the Royal Knights, I can't leave him with all the work, right? 

28: Who do they see as their best friend? Their worst enemy?

Well, Duftmon and Magnamon are my best friends. They've been with me through a lot, and even though being an older brother and superior comes first with Magnamon and I don't always agree with Duftmon, I know I can count on them.

Well...

...Don't tell the others, but actually... my best friend is Taichi. He's my partner, he raised me from an egg and if it weren't for him, I wouldn't even be here. I can't wait to see him again. 

My worst enemy? Daemon. After the hell he put me and my friends through, I've come all this way across dimensions just to hunt him down. 

And I'm not going home until I successfully destroy him.

44: Superstitions or views on the occult?

Well, it's okay, I guess? I mean Wizardmon, Witchmon, Sorcerymon, I could go on... 

But I hate ghosts. Just... no, I hate ghosts, and I'm not going anywhere near anything like that again.

6: Eating habits and sample daily menu

Whatever's in front of me, I guess! I mean you can't really be picky most of the time, or well I can't, anyway. Sometimes we're too busy to even eat food because of our work! Though... um... I'm actually really fond of the food at Iwatodai and if I could eat the food at Hagakure every day, I'd be a happy Knight.

17: Preferred mode of dress and rituals surrounding dress

When I'm not in my armor or formal outfit (due to my DigiMetamorph program) I guess I'd like to wear my casual clothes. They're really comfortable and I even have a cool scarf to look sneaky and secretive. 

...? Ritual? I don't get it, what's there supposed to be about that?

24: Is there one subject of study that they excel at? Or do they even care about intellectual pursuits at all?

Well... I don't study too often, I guess. I'm more of a fighter than a scholar. Th-though I learned a lot about the faith of my village when I was a kid and lived there! I'm smart, honest I am! I just... don't often have time to research? But I'm really good at superstition things, I grew up with all that stuff when I was a kid.

41: Hobbies?

Well, does being encouraged to hang out with my friends more count as a hobby? If so, I think that'd be one. Also, I like to practice martial arts a lot, it's a relaxing thing to do. Not only that, but as a member of the Royal Knights that doesn't bear a weapon, I feel I have to train my body to be that for me. And using my attacks all the time just wears me out too much.
