Hum I'm gonna give it to 911 writers for writing one of the best disabled characters on TV. Chris cp is not downplayed, but it's not his only personality trait, and not all of his storylines are about it either and I really like it. They're not infantalising him now that he is a teen, they're allowing him to grow into a messy teen and that's really cool.
Like not only is it logical for Chris to develop some early bpd traits with his abandonment trauma, but it's also bold of the writers to allow a disabled teen to have this messy relationship with his sexuality. Disabled characters are always desexualised, and they were like "nop, that kid is gonna date 5 different girls at once".

Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites
Tumblr media
In a world of dwindling hope, love has never mattered more...
Captain Nathan J. Northland had no idea what to expect when he returned home to Lorehaven injured from war, but it certainly wasn’t to find himself posted on an island full of vampires. An island whose local vampire dandy lord causes Nathan to feel strange things he’d never felt before. Particularly about fangs.
When Vlad Blutstein agreed to hire Nathan as Captain of the Eyrie Guard, he hadn’t been sure what to expect either, but it certainly hadn’t been to fall in love with a disabled werewolf. However Vlad has fallen and fallen hard, and that’s the problem.
Torn by their allegiances–to family, to duty, and the age-old enmity between vampires and werewolves–the pair find themselves in a difficult situation: to love where the heart wants or to follow where expectation demands.
The situation is complicated further when a mysterious and beguiling figure known only as Lady Ursula crashes into their lives, bringing with her dark omens of death, doom, and destruction in her wake.
And a desperate plea for help neither of them can ignore.
Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites by Joy Demorra is a queer, paranormal, gaslamp fantasy romance novel featuring enchanted forests, gothic castles, and just a smidge of industrial coal dust, and is the first book of the Hunger Pangs slow-burn polyamorous romance series. Join Vlad, Nathan, and Ursula as they navigate a magical world torn asunder war and politics as they work to restore balance to the world and find love along the way. Book one is available now in ebook, paperback, and audio.
Buy the (high heat) Flirting With Fangs Edition Here.

Why are there two versions, and what's the difference between them? Glad you asked! You can also check out individual content tags and heat ratings on my website at www.joydemorra.com

I saw a few posts now that mentioned it wasn't clear what Jayce's injury was. I had gone through the episodes for some specific references and needed one for his leg, so I took a screenshot of this moment. Since there seems to be an interest for it from others, I thought it would be nice to share.

ABSOLUTELY LOSING MY MIND AT THESE ORANGE BANNERS ON AMAZON FOR ARTIFICE & ACCESS I MIGHT CRY 😭 this whole anthology started because there were a bunch of people saying disabled people don’t belong in fantasy and this anthology immediately makes it into TWO top spots on Amazon because people are so excited about this anthology centered on disabled people in fantasy! 😭 I’m a little emotional, I need a sec

Um, preorders now open! definitely on amazon (paperback and ebook got listed separately for some reason) and B&N, trying to get it into some indie bookstores, and it sounds like booktopia in austrailia has it!

What is your opinion on the trope of a character faking disability for plot reasons? (One that often comes with "surprise they weren't actually disabled all this time" plottwist when it's done by not one of protagonists)
Hello! Please please please don’t write this. This sort of representation is overdone, and can have real harmful effects on disabled people. It can lead others to believe that disabled people who are just living their life are “faking” it. Trying to identify what disabled people are faking only ends up hurting people.
Thanks for the question, Mod Patch

Artifice & Access: a disability in fantasy anthology.
It’s long been acknowledged that disability representation is lacking in the fantasy genre landscape, so in this cozy anthology, fourteen writers from around the globe come together to bring you wonderful fantasy stories centering disabled and chronically ill characters.
Teeming with magic, otherworldly creatures, discoveries, and journeys, every story is as thrilling and fascinating as it is passionate and meaningful. Worlds are discovered, lives are changed, and swords are drawn.
Disabled and chronically ill characters go questing, fighting dragons, healing, and enacting strange magics. Familiar fairy tales are reimagined, and new fairytales are forged, with each story shattering stereotypes and challenging traditional narratives. Come see yourself reflected—or discover something new.
ARTIFICE & ACCESS is an anthology, a collection of 14 short stories from 14 authors around the world, writing from different disability and chronic illness perspectives. This project started as a way to try and contribute to closing the VAST gap of representation in fiction and authorship in publishing, as well as combat some of the harmful narratives and stereoypes disabled people are often written into; It became a collective effort that has connected new friends, encouraged people to see themselves as worthy of being main characters, and more.
100% of the proceeds from this book go towards continueing the uplifting and promotion of disabled and chronically ill writers.
🎉 We had orange Top New Release banners for a WEEK, and are still ranking in the top 50 releases for YA fantasy short stories. 👉🏼 You can buy this book at major retailers and indie book stores -- you just need to ask them to order it in! 📖 If you have a library card, please consider requesting this book so kids who need it (like I did!) can access it more easily. 💖Please leave us a review on Goodreads and Amazon to help continue the project!

As someone who’s disabled this is like. Very very important to me 🥹 to see someone’s partner love and care about them, despite their disability. To normalize the use of mobility aids/prosthetics. I love you, Dragon Prince (and I love you Terry and Claudia 🥹🫶🏻)

New Story Posted
Hey, so I posted my new Agathario ff earlier than expected.
The Best Medicine
Summary:
Agatha Harkness just received some devastating news that sends her into a depression that she can't quite seem to get herself out of, even with the help of her oldest and dearest friend, Jen Kale. So, on the advice of her doctor, Agatha attends a support group for women with her same illness. There, she meets Rio Vidal, a self-described "sit down comedian" who has a mischievous gleam in her eyes and an obvious interest in Agatha herself. Agatha can't deny that she feels the spark there, too, but she doesn't know if now is the right time to start something with somebody, no matter how much chemistry they seem to have.
Emotionally Constipated Agatha meets Mischievous Gremlin Rio who takes everything in stride. A story about living with a chronic illness and disability, based on my own experience because we definitely need more rep in this fandom.
Also, Rio uses a cane and tells a lot of jokes on stage.
Enjoy!

I've been meaning to do this update on Payhip for a while; I just haven't had the mental capacity to deal with anything admin, but! It is now possible to send copies of the Hunger Pangs ebooks and audiobooks as gifts!
(It was always possible before if you exploited the email function, but now it's like, official 👍)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ID: Two images side by side. They show a screenshot from Payhip's checkout page set against a rainbow glitter background. In the first image, the form prompts the viewer to fill in their own details. On the second image, the "give as a gift" box is checked, which shows additional options, such as entering the recipient's email and the ability to add a personalized message.
Sorry for the weird sizing. I'm using the same images for insta and couldn't be bothered to crop it for Tumblr. Because I'm professional like that.
Anyway. Valentines might be over, but it's never too late to give the gift of DRM-free vampires and werewolves kissing as they help an all-powerful magic wielder save the world from ecological disaster:

While Viktor is 100% my favorite character and representation is important, there is something very important to say about "fixing" all your disabled characters by giving them super powers.
Which is why Jayce's journey in the cursed world is so important.
This is why breaking his leg is needed, why his paranoia and mental instability was introduced first. Because if you remove one representation, you should always return it back in some kind of form.
This is also why we have Isha (who is popularly headcanonned to be partially deaf as well as mute) when Jinx starts to become more stable.
Rep is important. And removing it should never be a decision that is taken lightly.
Which is just another reason why Arcane is that great.
