For years, I’ve been so enamored with these old “black diamond” vhs covers of Disney classics. There’s just something about those diamonds on the spine covering that make them look extra special, you know?

So, how many of these did you have growing up? I know I had black diamond editions of:

Pinocchio (2nd edition)

The Little Mermaid

The Jungle Book

101 Dalmatians

The Great Mouse Detective

Beauty and the Beast

Aladdin

Fox and the Hound

The Rescuers Down Under

All of which I still have (except for Pinocchio). Plus 2 additional titles I found at a thrift store several years ago (The Rescuers and the 2nd edition of Dumbo).

The kickstarter for a documentary about my dad's life and artwork is now live! His name was Kent Melton and he was a sculptor for Disney, Dreamworks, Laika, Hanna-Barbera, and many other studios over the years. It's being put together by a friend of his, Maria, who worked with him at Laika!

A few Walt Disney Treasures sets that I found at a local thrift store recently that were surprisingly cheap (compared to online anyway). This is probably the 2nd best collection of classic cartoons (right after the Looney Tunes Golden Collection).

New Loki 'Mischief Maker' mug & my Funko collection update

New and available to buy from the Disney store (including the UK store, yay) is a range of Marvel character themed mugs, including Loki!

Ngl, the handle scares me a bit. I can easily see myself dropping it if I don't pay attention when grabbing it. 😬

On a personal note, The Void Deluxe Pop! Moment was delivered today~!

Which means I have to find space for it, lol. ^^;

So, I've had to put my Pop!s back in their boxes to make space. T-T

Since I won't really see them anymore and the boxes will be behind each other, I laid them all out on my bed for a pic before I sorted them onto shelves. Behold! :

new alice skipper doll! she's from 1994, if I'm not mistaken, and she's perfect!!

what surprised me the most upon opening her mail package was how shiny and well cared for her hair is! she really looks fresh out of the box!

i wanted to do a little photoshoot of her with the pop-up alice in wonderland book from my childhood, but I couldn't find good lighting. here's a picture, tho:

Is it just me or did classic cartoons as a kid really warp your understanding of how modern the rest of the world (or even outside your hometown) was? Like I thought hobos with bindles still roamed the tracks and men wearing fedoras and woman with stockings was just a trend that missed my hometown.

Braided Beauty

The Walt Disney Classics Collection (WDCC) Braided Beauty sculptor with a limited edition size of 750. Originally released in February 2012 and retailed for $165. Sculpted by Jacqueline Perreault Gonzales and plussed with pewter legs.

I can't believe I own this!

I have been searching for her since 2019. One finally came up on eBay at the right time! She is absolutely beautiful and so accurate! Braided Beauty is the number one most faithful interpretation of Rapunzel. Most figures and statues live in uncanny valley, but not this one!

The WDCC began in 1992 and ended in 2013. Braided Beauty was one of the last sculptors created and the only one from Tangled.

Each sculptor has a signature mark that represents its production year. The mark for Braided Beauty is an umbrella with the year being 2011. The umbrella honors Disney's Mary Poppins.

WDCC sculptors are said to define the essence of the character. Rapunzel's braid scene is iconic to her character. Definitely a beautiful moment to choose! If only the line had continued, maybe Eugene would have joined her.

Braided Beauty is absolutely stunning in person! All the detailed flowers, the swirl of her skirt fabric, her beautiful face and feet! All captured perfectly! She compliments the castle even though they are drastically out of proportion to one another. I only wish the skirt had been given its embroidery details.

Truly a best day ever moment to finally add Braided Beauty to my Tangled collection! 💗
