Remember when Bethesda came out with the Horse Armor for Oblivion for $5?

It was considered outrageous. $5 for just some silly skin for your mount? The entire gaming community banded together to mock Bethesda for even coming up with it, and as a result Bethesda came out with one of the best expansion packs for a game at the time, the Shivering Isles for $10.

Nowadays the idea of a $5 skin is commonplace, in fact, most skins you see in games these days cost more than $5! Of course the horse armor thing was nearly 20 years ago and inflation is a thing but still.

Now a lot of these skins are for f2p games, which is at least preferable to p2w, but there are plenty of games these days that aren't f2p and still sell cosmetics for inflated prices.

The reason I'm thinking about this is that a friend of a friend just bought a $90 skin pack for Valorant (which, again, to be fair, is f2p). They got 5 skins in the pack so that's $18 per skin. I could never imagine spending that much on skins, in fact, later this month I plan on buying two different games for $40 and $50 respectively, two entire games for what this guy just spent on skins.

I guess I can't really fault him though, everyone is free to spend their money how they want, I spent $100 on an art commission just last month and I'm sure a ton of people would balk at that.

But yesterday, I finally finished the DLC for Sonic Frontiers! The boss battle with The End was absolutely amazing from start to finish, top to bottom with great battle mechanics. I hope SEGA can put out more epic boss battles like this in the future!
