The Dragon Library, Chapter 2

The further they ran, the denser the crowd was as more people poured into the main street, desperate to get away. Gregoras clung to his book bag tightly, not wanting some quick minded scoundrel to make off with it. As he pulled the bag close to his self, he was nearly knocked to the ground by the crowd. He managed to catch his senses and continue his run, only to realize that his family was nowhere to be seen.
“Frent? Mom?” he shouted, as he tried to maneuver through the crowd. People were screaming again. He dared not look behind him, but Gregoras could hear the sound of wings flapping not far in the sky, the not so distant primal roar of those feared and hated beasts. Gregoras bowed his head and ran, trying to ignore the sounds of impending doom.
And then, he could ignore it no more.

Spiffy , a very confused dragon
Spiffy ran into grampy's chamber, a lit had happened in the last few weeks and Spiffy told the old dragon about Andreia. He knew he loved her, it was like something had clicked in his head all he had to do to get her attention was start talking about smithing... but he found himself just listening to her and watching her interact with her friends. "Grampy, I'm not sure what I should do... I know that they aren't born dragon but I love them..." he felt so ashamed But the old golden dragon only smiled and said " you know we can always find another smith, and thus sounds like quite the wrong time to be worried about some dusty old dragons library doesn't it" Spiffy beamed And so spiffy packed up his things,

The Dragon Library, Chapter 4

“You dragons have collected all these creatures?” Gregoras asked with wonder. “I didn’t even know most of these things existed!”
“We dragons of the library study the world. We observe it to collect more knowledge to better the world as a whole.” Nyrla looked down slightly as she flew. Gregoras felt she was flying slightly slower. “Well, that is what we used to do anyway.”
She looked about the room as she continued to fly through it. “So many dragons used to fly through here to watch the creatures, taking notes. Sometimes we would bring groups of young in here, watch their faces filled with wonder. Now, it is empty.”
Gregoras looked about. He had been too distracted by the aquatic creatures to notice, but indeed he and Nyrla were the only ones in here that were not in a tank.
Nyrla let out a heavy sigh. “The war takes much more than most would believe.”

The Dragon Library, Chapter 1
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XmOYbik0TnV6jK2UXVR3dLwUGYkwbY5FZHdzrMYXRzo/edit?usp=sharing
In the distance lay the residential manors on the edge of the city, and in the highest window of one such manor an older boy watched these proceedings. Before him lay a vast array of papers with hastily scribbled notes and bad drawings. These were forgotten, as he was currently more interested in the distant farmers. A clock on his desk ticked at 1:30.
A white creature, looking like a cat sized rat with long ears, hopped onto the desk. It sniffed one of the papers curiously, and then began chewing on it.
“Stop that Kov!” The boy pushed the creature onto the floor. As he did, his hand grazed the clock, and he finally noticed the time. He stared at the clock, his gaze slowly sliding down to the heap of paper under his arm. He sighed, and resolved to study more. The time ticked on, and his body lowered over the papers, until he finally fell asleep as it ticked to three.

The Dragon Library, Chapter 3

He pushed the wooden door down and stepped over it, groggy. He glanced to the window to see that it was still dark outside. Nyrla was briskly thumping about, her tail waving in the distance. On her back was a large satchel.
“You are prepared? Good. I have made rations for the both of us.”
She wandered back over, her enormous scaled head looming out of the darkness, nearly giving Gregoras a heart attack.
“I understand your reluctance, but you are required in this case to ride on my back on the way over. Not to worry, the satchel has a strap to hold you.”
“Do I have to?” Gregoras whined. “I’m not a fan of flying.”
“It is the only way, unless you intend to match speed with myself. In my studies of humans, I have found none that could even attempt to keep up with a dragon in flight.”

Dragon Library Chapter 7

She turned her snout toward the window. “We must visit Argathia.”
Gregoras turned his head, confused at the name.
"I don't remember reading about Argathia in any of the place books you've given me."
Nyrla turned back to him.
"That is because Argathia is not a place. You may know her as the Storm Swallower.”
Gregoras’s eyes grew wide. He did in fact know the name Storm Swallower, the dragon of legend that could not only breathe, but control, the power of lightening to a greater degree than anything ever seen on this earth. It would lie on its rock, waiting for sailors to lose their way, so as to capsize their boat and take its meal.

Dragon Library Chapter 6

“Wait, what?” Gregoras leaned in towards Nyrla’s head. “I’m sorry, the wind rushing by must have caused me to mishear you, but I thought you said we were going to catch one of these dangerous drakes.”
“You did not mishear me, this is my exact intention. Again, not to worry, I will be the one doing the catching. Just stay near me, that is important.”
Gregoras leaned backwards. He supposed Nyrla was right, as long as he followed her direction nothing bad would happen. He just couldn’t help the sinking feeling in his stomach. It seemed that something unaccounted for always happened on these sort of expeditions, and he wasn’t keen to see the unaccounted for thing that would happen in the proximity of intelligent, venomous Drakes.

Dragon Library Chapter 5

He read various books throughout the rest of the day, the sunlight slowly giving way to sunset. As the night came, he put away his last book and stretched in a yawn. He looked over to find that Nyrla was nowhere to be found. He shrugged and began to make his way toward the tent.
“Psst. Hey!”
Gregoras stopped in his tracks. Kov leapt out of the bag and growled lowly. The voice was male, and human, obviously not Nyrla’s.
Gregoras looked around. He could see nothing. He considered calling out, but then figured that would not be wise. What if there was another small dragonling searching in here for him, ready to snap him up while Nyrla wasn’t looking?
He motioned to Kov, and they slowly crept toward the tent.
“I won’t harm you, promise. Look up.”
