paper rings: drabble
james potter x f!reader / fluff / drunkenness / muggle au
summary: james potter did not propose. you, however, are fully committed to spreading misinformation.
a/n: i've seen videos of drunk girls doing this and i giggle every time. the guy is always just so done w her bullshit. this one is for any of my girls out there who also become loud and off putting when they drink 🩷 the few the proud. xoxo sunny ☀️🌻
wc: 419
you’re tipsy. maybe even more than tipsy. the pub had been warm and lively, filled with the scent of spilled drinks and sticky-sweet perfume, and you had been thriving, chatting with everyone—the bartender, the couple next to you, some poor guy just trying to order a pint.
james had found it adorable for the first hour, but then he realized that getting you home would be an olympic-level challenge.
which is why, instead of walking beside you like a normal boyfriend, he’s carrying you down the busy london street, arms hooked beneath your knees and back, determined to get you back before you start trying to hug strangers again.
except you, being you, have decided this is the best time to cause a scene.
“HE JUST PROPOSED!”
your voice rings out, high-pitched and gleeful, carrying over the city noise. several people turn their heads, but the ones who really react are a group of girls outside a cocktail bar, who immediately start shrieking.
“OH MY GOD, CONGRATULATIONS!” one of them gasps, clutching her friend’s arm.
james does not stop walking.
“no, no, no, no, no—” he mutters under his breath, gripping you tighter as if that will somehow stop the chaos from unfolding. “she’s lying! i didn’t propose! that didn't happen!”
“he’s just shy,” you tell the girls conspiratorially, voice full of faux sympathy.
“SO CUTE!” one of them giggles, and james physically groans, like this is his worst nightmare come to life.
“not gonna marry you if you don’t get your act together, love,” he huffs, adjusting his grip on you as he keeps walking.
you gasp, gripping his shirt with wide, scandalized eyes. “OH, so you were planning to propose?”
james’ jaw tightens, but you see the way the corner of his mouth twitches upward, his pink cheeks betraying him.
“not telling you that,” he murmurs, voice low and smug, eyes flickering down at you with something secret, something warm.
your mouth drops open. “so you are!”
he grins but doesn’t say another word, just leans down and presses a quick, fleeting kiss to your forehead, then keeps moving, determined to remove you from the scene of the crime.
“okay, menace,” he mutters, voice half-exasperated, half-endearing, “let’s get you home before you start taking addresses for wedding invitations.”
you beam up at him, all tipsy and giggly and entirely unrepentant. “happiest day of my life.”
and james? despite the absolute chaos you just put him through?
he just laughs, because of course you’re his happiest day, too.

꩜ᝰ.ᐟ YOUR CAMERA ROLL AS JOAQUIN TORRES’ GIRLFRIEND
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⋆⭒˚.⋆
ever since joaquin had gifted you your first camera, the candid of photos never stopped. at first it had been a quiet gesture, something wrapped in brown paper and twine, placed beside your coffee cup one sleepy morning. you’d blinked at the unfamiliar weight of it in your hands, then up at him, confused and still halfway tangled in the blanket you had stolen from the couch.
he had bought it at the downtown store— the exact same one you had been eyeing ever since you saw it. now, you just stared down at the compact silver body of the camera, the weight of already fitting in your hands before you’d kissed him hard. the camera was pressed awkwardly between your chests, and he’d laughed against your lips, but your happiness was unmatched with your newfound joy to pass time.
after that, you took pictures of everything.the pattern of rain on the window, the soft curve of joaquin’s jawline, the way his face scrunched up in concentration when he read his file reports. it wasn’t hard to tell that he was your favourite photo subject— but he never complained. just let you click away, sometimes posing, other times just watching you with an amused expression.
"your camera’s gonna get tired of me," he teased one evening as you were sprawled out on the floor, trying to frame a shot of him stretching on the couch, hoodie riding up slightly, dim lamp casting golden light over his skin.
"that's a big fat lie," you replied stubbornly, "and we both know that."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⋆⭒˚.⋆
but that didn’t mean joaquin didn’t take his fair share of photos too.
at some point you had caught him fiddling with your camera when you had left the room, only to scroll through the roll to find several unexpected candids of you—you standing in front of a sunset, you shying away from the camera a hand covering your face, and several more of blurry polaroids of you all dressed up to go out.
he never admitted it though, just shrugged with a thoughtful smile on his face.
there were several more that night. you and joaquin had gone to a party hosted by a mutual, but several of your friends were there. one of them had taken a specific interest in your camera and wanted to take a few photos. eager to get rid of the weight of it sitting at the bottom of your bag, you handed it over and dragged joaquin onto the dance floor.
though, somewhere in the middle of that evening with drunk, neon chaos, your friend had captured a few precious moments of you and joaquin. a few shots of you playing beer pong, a few of you swaying together to the music, and your personal favourite— joaquin with his hands cupping your face as you mashed your lips against the sweet and toxic taste of his, while your fingers clung to his shirt desperate for more.
he had saved that one, tucking it into the back of his phone case.
but you adored it. you adored his smug little grin when you tugged him closer to kiss him, to feel his warmth radiate against your body, and you adored that he got you that little camera to save all the love and memories that you had together.
you cherished every photo, hanging them up on a thin pieces of string with clothing pins, and attaching it onto the wall of your living room. and sometimes joaquin would stand in front of it, admiring the row of plastic films with a small shine in his eyes. you would join him, squeezing his hand before he spun you around and pressed his mouth to your hair.
"loving you, is the best thing i've ever done."

dear diary <3
it's y/n again and today i'm feeling a bit...funny. the day started absolutely amazing! it was my best friends luke 11th birthday party! I can't believe he's 11 and in two more months i'll also be 11.
anyways :) his party was a girl boy party and we all went to the arcade that luke and I have always wanted to go to together but we couldn't because of jack and quinn's hockey.
it was a really fun day and luke loved the sidney crosby shirt I picked for him. but the reason i'm feeling funny is because of lacey patterson. lacey is in our class and was invited to the arcade as well. I thought she had a crush on matthew but the whole time she wouldn't leave luke alone. she was always around like an annoying little fly. lacey kept taking all of luke's attention away from me.
i'm feeling jealous, diary. because luke is....special. his soft curly hair and his bright eyes and when he smiles I get ladybugs in my stomach. I love my best friend and now that lacey likes him I can't help but feel angry.
how and I suppose to grow up and marry luke if lacey is in the way???!!!
one: valentine's day
"it was a disaster," you sigh loudly, pushing your way into luke's apartment as he pulls open the threshold of the door. you toss your small pink bag on his counter top and slump into a bar stool, "I mean a breakfast date? I'm not even sure why I agreed to do that with him in the first place- I barely know the guy and breakfast certainly isn't the place to get to know him."
luke slowly makes his way over to you, still rubbing the sleep out of his eye with the palm of his hand. "I shouldn't say I told you so, but," he says sleepily, pausing to grab a bowl out of the kitchen cupboard, "I told you so."
you groan, dropping your head into your hands. "I really need to listen to you more," you admit, eyes flicking upwards as you watch luke pour himself a healthy sized amount of shreddies. you hate the cereal, you think it taste like dry wheat. luke has always loved shreddies though, so you always have some at the ready. plus, it's the only cereal luke's professional athlete diet allows.
he shrugs with a cheeky smirk.
"not only did he only talk about himself and refer to me as a 'female'," you air quote the condescending title and luke shudders between spoonfuls of cereal. you continue, "but he asked me how much money I make and spilt his orange juice on me - on valentine's day of all days. I swear i'm never spending valentine's day with a man again."
luke wipes the drip of milk off his mouth with the back of his hand, sending you a questioning look, "not even me?"
"you don't count, obviously, or I wouldn't be here." you raise your brows in his direction, as if if to say duh.
luke smirks again but shoves more cereal in his mouth to try and mask it. "right, okay, guys an asshole - so you ended the awkward valentines breakfast to head here at..." he trails off, eyes finding the digital clock on his and jack's shared stove for the first time that morning. "8:56 in the morning - jesus is this guy 80?"
"I wish," you huff, "an eighty year old would probably of kept his nose out of my bank account."
luke snickers, dropping his dirty bowl in the sink.
"do something with me today?" you plead, leaning across the counter top so you can poke his muscular side. "don't let my valentines makeup go to waste."
luke tiredly glances over to you, taking note of how there's a little pink glitter sprinkled across your eyelids and how your usual lip colour was replaced with a more pink toned shade. your smile all cheesy at him and it has luke breaking out of his thoughts - blinking hard.
"how does lunch and the movies sound?" he asks after a moment of pondering. "i'm sure there's some sappy romantic movie playing."
you scoff at his tone, "hey! I love those sappy romantic movies."
"I know," he hums, leaning against the counter infront of you. "that's why I suggested it."
you place your head in your palm, looking up at your best friend fondly as he practically leans over you. "you're the best lukey," you say after a moment, a gentle smile on your face.
he shrugs and the action has his sleep shirt lifting to reveal his toned v-line and happy trail. you don't let your eyes linger, quickly darting your vision away before you turn red.
luke's expression changes briefly, and it looks like he may say something but the sound of jacks bedroom door clicking open has him stopping - eyes darting to the hallway just as his brother shuffles out.
jacks eyes find yours as you sit comfortably in his bar stool. he admits a big yawn and wide stretch before mumbling - "I should've known it was you making all this noise."
he rounds into the kitchen, flicking on the kettle to boil himself some water for his beloved morning coffee.
"ha ha," you say sarcastically.
"why the fuck does it smell like orange juice in here." jack mumbles.
"oh god," you cry out, grabbing your bag and sliding off the stool. now that luke's eyes are properly open and he's aware of his conscious, he sees how your white jeans have an orange liquid stain on the leg. luke smiles fondly as your cheeks tinge pink, brushing past him and his brother and towards the front door, "i'm going home and changing!"
luke laughs gently, following behind you. "i'll text you when i'm leaving here."
"sounds great," you breath out, a smile making its way onto your face. "wear pink," you tease him, shimming your shoulder in his direction.
"happy valentine's day," jack calls out from the kitchen. you catch sight of him shuffling his way past the door and back down the hall, a steaming mug in his hands.
you meet luke's eyes again and hes still looking at you, leaning against the door in his morning glory - plaid pyjama pants hanging low and his arms crossed to make all his muscles stretch deliciously. "happy valentine's day," luke mimics his brother in a fond whisper.
"happy valentine's day," you repeat. "i'll see you later."
"you will." luke says.
when you get back to your apartment complex, marianne, the front desk receptionist, flags you over before you can reach the elevator - her bright red lipstick and heart bobble head band instantly making you smile.
"you have a delivery," she says, pushing a massive vase full of red roses in your direction.
you're momentarily in a state of shock, staring at the bouquet of flowers dumbfounded. "are you sure they're for me?" you splutter after a moment.
marianne nods joyfully, a finger running over one of the delicate pedals. "oh yes, honey! delivery man dropped them off real early this morning."
you pluck the crisp white card from its slot, quickly opening the small envelope with slightly shaky fingers - anxiously wanting to reveal the mystery behind the roses.
just incase your breakfast date doesn't get you flowers. I hope you get all the ladybugs in your stomach today, y/n/n. happy valentine's day.
love, lukey.
two: easter
"you two seriously need to quit this," quinn's voice is a mix of bordem and amusement, eyeing you and luke. "it's every year." quinn concludes, jack nodding in silent agreement as he bites into a chocolate egg.
"quit and willingly loose to luke?" you thumb over your shoulder to the tallest hughes brother - who is standing diagonally behind you with his arms crossed. "absolutely not."
jack tries to hit you with a chocolate egg, but it misses your body - you send him an accusing glare before quinn starts again.
"guys, seriously it's just an egg hunt." he deadpans, eyes dancing between his brother and you.
"it's not just an egg hunt," luke says matter of factly. his arms fall to his sides and he steps closer to you, the fabric of his flannel brushing your exposed shoulder. "it's one of the only times I get to prove to everyone I am the superior egg finder."
competitively, you roll your eyes. luke has been using that line since one of the very first easters you had spent together.
when you were 5 years old, your family moved to your now home city and into the two story house neighbouring the hughes' home. it was almost instantly that you and luke become close - after he got over how'd you'd aimlessly follow him around and want to be near him (you liked the leafs just like him so he liked you soon after).
your parents become very close with ellen and jim and it become a tradition to spend easter together - enjoying the festive meal and activities. even now with quinn in a different country and you, jack and luke all in jersey, you would all find yourself making it home for the easter dinner and egg hunt.
which leads you into your second ever holiday spent with the hughes family - the first egg hunt you had won. luke claimed to his family after they had teased him that he let you win and was, in fact, the superior egg hunter. obviously, you couldn't let that slide and you're still battling luke in your early twenties for the title of egg hunt champion.
"you wish," you tease luke, "a superior egg hunter would of brought proper footwear to ensure they could get down and dirty." slowly, your eyes flicker to luke's feet, eyeing the crisp white air forces that were bound to get filthy.
luke scoffs, taking a step towards you. "oh trust me - i'm ready to get dirty."
"is this how kids flirt now?" jacks voice is like a nail to your eardrum and you quickly take a step away from luke, making your way to the island and grabbing your bunny shaped bucket.
"it's called smack talk," luke answers his brother sharply, also grabbing his egg basket - a bright yellow whicker bin with fuzzy chicks hot glued to the handle: he's been using it forever. "this is a competition."
"it's really not," quinn mutters, hands shoved in his jean pockets as he leans into the kitchen island.
just before you or luke could scold the eldest hughes, ellen makes her way through the back door, her pink floral maxi skirt swaying around her ankles. "you guys coming out?" she questions you all, her brows raised expectantly. "all the young kids are ready."
"oh," luke snickers, "i'm ready."
"we are all ready," you correct, eyeing your best friend briefly.
she smiles fondly, her small hands clasping together - ellen hughes would never get tired of seeing you and all her boys together on the holidays. "the eggs are all hidden - don't forget the winner gets the chocolate bunny!" she sing songs, guiding you all to the large backyard decorated in pastels and flowers.
"see," luke hums, jamming his elbow into his oldest brothers side, "told you it was a competition."
"oh my god."
after a brief speech from ellen, you were informed the oldest kids (you, luke, jack and quinn) would be searching for the blue coloured eggs and the younger kids (consisting mostly of hughes' cousins) would be searching for yellow eggs. the yellow eggs were hidden in easier spots but jim and your dad had ensured the blue eggs were in more difficult places.
10 minutes into the hunt, you've secured 6 of the possible 17 blue easter eggs. you wander further down the large property, eyes frantically searching for more to add to your collection. it isn't long before you catch a glimpse of bright blue - the small egg nestled between a few branches up in one of the trees. you're suprised you could even see it through the leaves, but the sun catches the egg once more and you're positive you're not imagining it.
with a determined head, you place your bucket on the ground near the stump of the tree before grabbing ahold of the lowest branch. you use all your strength to start hauling yourself up the tree, climbing upwards through the leaves and branches.
finally, you reach the height of the easter egg, and you smile victoriously, reaching out to grab it. at your sudden movement, the branch you had been standing on with your one foot gives out, cracking loudly until it snaps downwards. you gasp, hands reaching out to wrap around the thick trunk, watching horrified as your previous spot swings in the air.
you scan the surrounding branches, looking for the most secure one for your full weight - one that wouldn't break off under your feet. there's one behind you that looks promising, so you shift against the trunk, carefully stepping across the gap in the branches until you can fully place your feet on the new one.
you sigh once you feel secure, taking a deep breath to try and let the erratic heart beating in your chest come back to normal. miraculously through your almost plummet back to the ground, you managed to keep ahold of your egg and your gripping that damn blue thing hard, ensuring after all that trouble it wasn't going anywhere.
once your adrenaline levels return to a much more manageable level and the thumping heartbeat in your eardrums subsides, you decide you're ready to start making your journey to the ground - as safe as possible.
you let your one foot steps off, pressing down on a different branch to test its sturdiness. it seems stable enough, and you push off the trunk behind you to help push yourself onto the other branch.
your dress tugs, not allowing you to move over. you frown in confusion, trying to pull away harder. it's no luck, and your eyes close in disbelief. you try and uncomfortably stretch around yourself to catch sight of what the hell was going on and you catch a glimpse of of a sharp broken twig, completely hooked through your dress.
and of course you've left your phone behind on the kitchen island when you decided you'd have to use for it during the egg hunt. you course yourself, making another attempt at wiggling yourself off the ridged twig. it proves to be unsuccessful when you try and move onto the other branch once again and find yourself still being pulled back towards the trunk.
just as you begin to feel waves on panic bubble up your body and tears well up in your eyes, the sound of shuffling below halts your meltdown. you listen more intently, and the melodies of an all too familiar hushed whistle adding to the noise.
luke is wandering around aimlessly, whistling the megan moroney song you had showed him the week prior - clearly he has taken a liking to it as well. he's got his easter basket in his hand, swinging it slightly so his collected eggs roll around.
he is practically right under the tree you're in, and you take the opportunity before it leaves. "luke!" you call your friends name, your voice a mixture between a whisper and a yell - not wanting to draw any unnecessary attention to your very uncomfortable and embarrassing position, luke would surely tease you enough to make up for everyone.
luke's whistling comes to a halt, his body coming to a stand still near the large roots of the tree that were protruding from the soil. he spins around a couple times, looking for you.
a beat passes.
"where are you?" luke questions quietly, doing another 360 of the area. he knows you can't be too far because you sounded close, but not directly beside him. his brows furrow when he can't see anything.
"in the tree - i'm stuck." you huff, eyes closing as the rush of embarrassment comes after admitting your predicament out loud. luke still looks confused and unsure, so you sigh, rustling one of the nearby branches to show him that you were in fact in a tree and not hiding in a nearby bush - planning to ambush him for his eggs.
finally luke catches on, looking up towards the thick branches wide eyed and confused. once he catches sight of you, his previous expression morphes into one of mischief and his lips tug upwards in a gooey smile. "oh! don't you look all cute up there."
you ignore his teasing with a dismissive eye roll, "come up here and help me untangle myself from this damn branch."
luke's eyes wander towards the trunk of the tree, landing on your easter basket that you'd previously abandoned in favour of climbing - your blue eggs starting at him in all their glory. luke hums, slowly looking back towards you - his eyes shimmering with a misbehaved twinkle you're all too familiar with. "nah, I think i'll just take some of these eggs and be on my way."
"lukeeeeee," you whine his name, eyes closing in annoyance- luke could really push your buttons when he wanted to.
your hands are starting to hurt from the bark under you palm, and your ridged posture from being caught by the tree is becoming uncomfortable. "come help meeeee," you whine again, "is this how you're going to treat your best friend?"
when you began to speak, luke has already put down his own easter basket, nestling it beside yours wiped his hands free of any sweat and made his way towards the tree, large fingers wrapping around the first branch as he pulls himself up. "relax, i'm coming."
you watch as he quickly climbs up the tree, resembling a spider monkey as his long limbs wrap around branches and you smile to yourself at the thought of luke as a monkey.
suddenly, you begin to feel embarrassed about your situation. you feel even sillier for getting yourself stuck on a branch, something taht could've been avoidable if you weren't so damn stubborn about a stupid egg hunt. your previous smile of relief turns sour, eyes downcast as luke finally gets to your level.
your face has luke mimicking your frown, brows drawn together as he addresses you. he reaches out for you, running a large hand over your curled hair. "hey, don't worry - you're okay."
you muster one nod in acknowledgment, taking a shaky breath.
"let's see," luke mutters between you, leaning into your personal space to attempt in getting a proper look at the damage - one of his arms wrapping around your body for stability as he peeks over your shoulder. "easy peasy," luke adjusts his body slightly, his chest brushing your bare shoulder as he fiddles with the material of your dress.
you fight off a pleasant shiver, controlling your breathing as his long fingers brush against your soft skin, tickling you in the best way. finally, you feel your dress become loose and fall back into its proper position.
you breathe in relief, your smile returning.
"ta da," luke pulls back, his own smile lighting up his face as he hovers over you. now that you're less stressed, you notice how intimate your and luke's position is. his feet's are slotted between yours in the thick branch, his one arm still around your body while his other one moves to wrap around the trunk, holding you both there - his breath fanning over your face.
"you're welcome." he teases you, snapping you out of your own head.
"thank you." you hum nonchalantly, one of your hands coming up and fixing your hair and be ridding of any stray leaves or baby twigs that may of found their way in there.
"what's my reward?" luke questions gently, head tilted as his tongues slowly darts out, licking his bottom lip.
the air turns thick with a sticky tension, making your spot in the tree feel like it suddenly was located on the sun. quickly, your eyes widen, watching the way luke begins to smirk at your flustered face.
you clear your throat, choosing to not read into any underlying meaning. "one of my easter eggs." you answer firmly, a gentle nod of confidence following suit.
he tongues his cheek. "just one?"
you nod once again, a noise of conformation falling from your lips.
luke hums, eyes not leaving yours as he says - "guess i'll just take more."
because you know your best friend all too well, before he can even attempt to descend back towards the ground, you push of the branch, quickly moving around him and scaling down the trunk. you're suprised at how quick you get to the ground and even more suprised you don't hurt yourself in the process.
just as you grab ahold the fuzzy purple bunny easter basket off the ground, you hear luke thump back onto the grass, a gentle laugh of disbelief falling from his mouth.
you turn on your heels to face him, your basket gripped in your hand as you swing it teasingly out towards him - a victorious and teasing smile on your face.
he kisses his teeth and his eyes dart towards the ground to mask his amused grin. he grabs his own easter basket before making the short distance to you.
"like promised," you say, plucking one of the shiny blue eggs from your basket. "your reward." delicately, you place the egg into luke's basket, adding to his collection of five.
almost immediately, luke grabs the egg you just gave him, placing it back into your basket. "no it's okay," he says quickly, hand raised defensively when you begin to furrow your brows. luke continues, "after all, when I win, I want it to be fair and square."
"my god," you roll your eyes fondly, the corners of your lips tugging up in a smile. "whatever helps you sleep lukey."
"I see another one!" jack yells somewhere on the property - quinn's voice following suit as he threatens to fight jack over an easter egg.
simultaneously, your and luke's eyes widen at what you're hearing.
"what's over there?" luke questions, brows furrowed as he points behind you.
you frown in confusion, spinning around to try and spots the object of luke's gaze.
he takes off, calling out some stupid insult about you being a sloth as he does. your scoff of disbelief turns into a laugh, and you begin to run.
you don't remember finding the last egg that was sitting in your basket when ellen counted all of them out - but seeing as you had the most blue eggs out of everyone, you weren't going to complain, taking your chocolate bunny prize happily.
luke watches you light up with joy when you are declared the winner for another year in a row. he finds himself smiling along, happy that when he handed you the egg back you had given him as a reward, he managed to slip one of his own back in with it- just like he does every year.
three: 4th of july
you knew that having another vodka water, adding to your borderline drunk state, wasn't the smartest idea - but you cracked open the can regardless, the sound echoing over the michigan lake.
you take a hearty sip to mask the scowl on your face. lacey laughs loudly, and your annoyance grows because yes it was the same lacey from luke's birthday party all those years ago and yes, unfortunately she was close to some of your other friends so yes she'd often hang out with the group.
this 4th of july weekend was no exception as you watch lacey continue to hang around luke and jack - your jealousy meter maxing out anytime she would lean into luke or touch his arm.
you take another sip, some of the liquid dribbling down you lip after quinn drives over one of the waves, sending trevor zegras into the air as he wakeboards behind you. quickly and rather aggressively, you wipe the spilled alcohol off your chin, eyes still pointedly glaring towards your best friend, his brother and lacey.
as if he can sense your staring, luke turns his head in your direction, quickly finding you on the bench seat. you're sitting with your back turned to wards the water and jacob truscott - who's job is attentively watching trevor as he wakeboards.
luke's initial smile with seeing you is wiped away once he sees that you're annoyed, your clear sour face making him frown. quickly, you turn your head in the opposite direction.
and because drunk you has no self control, you quickly look back in luke's direction, not lasting 5 seconds. luke is still watching you, his brows pulled together in question. just when it looks like he is going to make his way over to you, lacey grabs his wrist, lighting up as she animatedly begins to tell a story that 'he just had to hear!'
you start to become angry. not only were you feeling frustrated because lacey was not your cup of tea and jack invited her to your 4th of july celebration regardless of your feelings, but you were even more upset by the fact that luke was allowing himself to be so easily entertained by her. luke had always treated lacey normally, even though you often expressed how you weren't her biggest fan - which was okay, of course. you didn't want luke to treat her differently just because you didn't like her, but still - it had you feeling jealous.
you take a huffy breath, getting up from your seated position as careful and as stable as you could while being drunk on a moving boat. obviously, it wasn't your best or most successful idea, quinn jerking the boat for trevor's boarding quickly and it has you stumbling - right into the back of jacob.
he turns around quickly, his eyes blown wide as he takes you in. "hey, y/n, you okay?"
and just like that your brain comes up with a plan. one that though you may regret in the morning when you're sober, in your drunkenness sounds perfect - you've never thought of a better idea in your life. you smile at jacob, fluttering your lashes at him. "can I sit and watch with you?"
jacob watches as you bite you lip in question while you await his answer, eyeing him with a hazy look over your bright eyes.
he chuckles slightly, "course you can."
you smile cheerfully and you quickly start to make the small step up onto the seat platform, your small hand gripping jacob's strong shoulder to help balance yourself until you gracefully plop down beside him. as flirtatious as you can manage while being intoxicated, you run your hand from his shoulder down his arm, trying to tickle him.
jacob eyes you suspiciously, a small amused smile beginning to tug his lips upwards. you smile back, bringing your hand into your lap. "what are you up to?" jacob questions after a moment. he doesn't wait for an answer before he turns his head to look over his shoulder - right at luke.
"nothing!" you hum, laying your palm flat on his cheek and bringing his gaze back towards you.
jacob gives you a look, brows raised knowingly. he has to tongue his cheek to not laugh, your plan of trying to make luke jealous obvious. clearly you're not as inconspicuous as you thought.
you shrug once, leaning in even closer to jacob. "just wanted to sit with you is all."
he just nods, shrugging nonchalantly "whatever you say." jacob's eyes leave yours, attention back on trevor on the wakeboard. clearly jacob doesn't mind helping you out, he even lets his hand slide behind you, resting flat on the seat right near your ass - he doesn't even seem flustered at the how if he stretched his pinky out he'd be touching your butt - that kind of makes you feel at ease.
after flirting and laughing with jacob for 10 minutes, trevor's time on the wake board comes to an end, quinn slowing down the boat. in that 10 minutes you'd only managed to get in a glance towards luke three times (jacob kept you pretty entertained oddly enough), and everytime luke was wearing a neutral expression - his arms crossed and listening to lacey.
trevor removes himself from to board, breathless as he climbs onto the swim platform."did you guys see me hit that last wave?" he smiles, unzipping the life jacket wrapped around his torso.
"it was sick," ethan edwards comes up beside you, leaning on his elbows right beside your thighs to talk to trevor - drunk you honestly forget he was here. "fuck man way cooler than any waves I got - quinn must have his favourites." ethan continues, playfully side eyeing the oldest hughes brother as he makes his way over to the back of the boat.
"ha ha," quinn says sarcastically, grabbing onto the rope of the wake board paddle and pulling it towards the boat. "if I actually had favourites, trevor wouldn't be one of them."
trevor cries out and grabs his peck like quinn's words had actually reached out and stabbed him, "ouch."
quinn ignores trevor, rolling his eyes dismissively - although his lips move upwards in a small smile. "alright," he breaths, finally getting the wakeboard onto the swim platform, " who wants to go next."
looking back over your shoulder once more, you see that luke still isn't bothered enough in coming over to you - listening to some story lacey was blabbing on about to jack and dylan duke.
you hum, shooting up off the bench. you wobble slightly, ethan grabbing your ankle reflexively to try and steady you. you smile triumphantly, "i'll go." you make your way over to quinn, taking the protective life jacket from trevor's outstretched hand.
quinn looks you up and down, eyes hesitant. "you sure?"
you nod without looking at him, stepping into the boots of the board. if flirting with luke's friend wasn't working in getting his attention, hanging off the back of the boat as you zip through the water surely had to.
you clip the buckles down, the sound snapping against the boots. quinn bends down in attempt to help you get secure, but you dismiss him, dropping off of the swimming platform and into the water.
"y/n..." quinn starts, his eyes filled with doubt.
"i'm good." you take the ropes right out of quinn's hands, wrapping them once around your wrist. "let's do it."
he sighs but doesn't protest any further, leaving you alone. quinn walks off the platform, making his way back to the driver's seat.
the engine starts a few moments later, the roar making you smile slightly - adjusting the slippy rope handles as you prepare to start.
"fuck yeah, y/n!" jack calls, hands bracketed around his mouth as he cheers for you, his voice echoing over the lake.
after getting your thumbs up, quinn starts to drive, the movement of the motor vehicle slowly dragging your body towards the surface, gaining speed until the wakeboard comes to the top. jacob slaps the bench seat a few times in a cheer, him and ethan both praising and cheering you on back on the boat. your smile widens at the boys and luke's brows furrow.
the boat is going the proper speed now, and quinn starts to do circles around himself to create the desired waves - you swallow nervously as you see the first one approaching. you can feel your hands loosen on the rope again , and naturally your fingers unhook themselves in order for them to readjust. the wave hits sooner than anticipated, and you first jolt forwards quickly before being flung backwards, your feet coming out of the boots as you get launched into the water.
you push up to the surface with your shaky arms, a gasping breath leaving your lips as you take in the air.
the boat has been stopped, and there's a group of worried faces staring at you from about 10 feet away. you definitely shouldn't of dismissed quinn when he wanted to check over your buckles, and you definitely shouldn't of let your guard down when trying to re-grip the rope.
you start to leisurely swim back towards the boat, feeling much more calm now that you’re not being panicked underwater. “i’m good!” you laugh it off, approaching the platform.
jack is waiting for you, his hand outstretched in your direction. you grip it, your wet palm slapping against his calloused one as he pulls you out of the water. he says your name through a smile, “that was badass."
then you notice how luke’s there as well, looking much more stressed than his brother - eyes frantically searching you for any visible injuries. "are you okay?" he breaths.
"yes," you sigh firmly. jack finally lets you go, allowing you to stand yourself up on your own feet. as you place your left foot down fat, your ankle screams in protest and gives out on you - making you topple forwards with a yelp. "fuck."
instantly, luke is there, rushing towards you and grabbing a hold of your arms. he keeps you upright, leaning down so he can look into your eyes. “what hurts?”
"my ankle," you whine quietly, eyes moving down in embarrassment. not only were you drunk, but you were now hurt and in enough pain for your intoxication to not even be able to mask it. "it really hurts lukey." you whisper, your throat becoming thick with emotion.
"okay, okay," luke wraps an arm around your waist, putting all of your weight onto him as he helps you off of the swimming platform and onto the carpeted area of the boat. you wince quietly in the short time it takes to get to the front of the boat - away from prying eyes that would only have you feeling even more embarrassed.
"sit down." luke tells you sternly, helping in lowering you to the seat. tears are desperately wanting to escape, the entire day of events weighing heavy on your chest.
luke turns away from you, reaching into the blue drink cooler - digging through the ice and cans of seltzers until he finds a plastic water bottle. he grabs it, walking back towards you with an unreadable expression, sitting across from you.
"i'm cold." you say as soon as luke sits down. you can’t decide if you’re cold because your wet and the sun is starting to set or if it’s because luke’s knees keep brushing yours, igniting goosebumps.
your emotions come to a head, and a tear finally falls, trailing down the round of your sunkissed cheek.
"let's take off the lifejacket, okay?" he reaches towards you, unzipping the wet jacket. your boobs definitely spill out of your bikini top in a way that is probably unflattering, no longer pushed against you by the life jacket. “give it back incase somebody else wants a turn.” luke grabs dylan dukes abandoned towel, wrapping the fluffy cover around your shoulders.
his teasing gives right over your head.
"okay," luke sighs quietly, tapping his two fingers against your thigh."let me see your ankle, put it on my leg."
you do as he says, bringing your leg up and over so you can comfortably have your knee bent and foot laying flat on luke's muscular thigh - his leg hairs tickling your painted toes.
softly, luke uses the water bottle he'd earlier grabbed as a temporary ice pack, pressing it to your ankle bone. the coolness feels nice, and it already is helping the pain.
your mood turns even more unpleasant when you her lacey's high pitched laugh echo around you - assaulting your water logged ear drums. you keep your eyes downcast, fingers wordlessly fiddling with a loose strand on the beach towel.
you sniffle, "wouldn't you rather be with lacey?" your jealously is definitely showing, but you're too irritated with the days events to be civil. lacey, combined with hurting your ankle and having luke practically ignoring you all day has your filter disappearing.
one of luke's long fingers slowly starts running along the back of your calf. "nah." he says gently. you can feel his eyes on you, but you're still not sure if you can handle looking into his eyes in the state your in.
your brows raise in suprise, and your disbelief is still prevalent in your tone. "really? she sure gives you a lot of attention."
luke shrugs once. "you're hurt. you take priority."
his answer has you scoffing slightly, and you tug harder on the loose towel thread. "only because i'm hurt?" finally, you look back towards him, eyes pinched with irritation at his answer.
in all seriousness, luke looks at you. his lips almost tug down in a frown, and his eyes begin to soften at your red cheeks and glazed eyes. "no. you always are my priority."
now you feel embarrassed. although lacey is more outgoing and flirty than you are, you are luke's best friend - not her. quickly, your hand comes up to wipe away any fallen tears, "sorry." you mumble.
luke dismisses your apology, tapping your heel twice around the cold water bottle he was still pressing against you. he eyes your somber expression again, and kisses his teeth.
your eye him as he scoots closer towards you. "can I tell you something?"
you nod, naturally finding yourself leaning in as well.
luke's lips begin to turn upwards. "watching you flirt and spend time with jacob today...It made me feel kind of jealous."
you feel your heart come to a hard stop and then speed up again - beating frantically at luke's confession. you're sure your mouth is opening and closing like a fish, but you're too baffled to say anything.
he continues quietly, "because, you know, he was taking my best friends attention away from me."
you deflate.
luke shrugs, "and I know that's hypocritical because I was kind of being a dick today but still...jacob doesn't deserve your attention - neither do I honestly but-"
you shake your head, bumping the leg that wasn't resting on his thigh against luke's knee, stopping his rambling. he's still your luke, no matter what. he's awkward and sweet and....yours.
"you're the only one I really want to give my attention to, lukey."
he smiles gently, "really?"
"yeah - i'm drunk," you remind him, "I can't lie even if I want to." you both laugh at your half slurred confession, leaning into each other as you do so.
as quinn pulls the boat back towards the dock of the hughes summer house, you can't even remember why you'd been annoyed with luke in the first place - too focused on him nursing your ankle and his soft smile.
four: fall festivities
"jello shot?" you ask through an exhale, a bright smile on your face. you gesture the small serving tray full of colourful desert towards the two girls in front of you. thankfully, they smile back, happily taking the alcohol from you.
you nod in parting before picking up your pace once more, gripping the tray harder as you practically jog around your condo - determined to serve everybody.
when luke had mentioned jack offered to host the annual new jersey devils halloween party, he told you that him and his brother were worried about the limited space in their apartment and were unsure of how they were going to make it work. seeing your best friend in a predicament had you immediately offering your place to throw it.
not only was your space bigger, but your only neighbour was a wealthy businessman who was never home, so there would be no noise complaints and no issues with fitting the devils roster in for a halloween themed party. obviously your offer had nothing to do with being totally into your best friend and going to any extreme to see him happy - obviously.
there was a few more people attending than you were initially expecting to show up - which mostly consist of the wives and girlfriends of the team, but still, you hadn't factored that in. the added people had your hosting skills dialled up to an 11, and you can't remember the last time you had sat down or properly mingled with anybody - too busy making sure everything was stocked.
you squeeze through a group of laughing girls you don't recognize, and you whisper your apologies as you move through them. "jell-o shot?" you question, approaching dougie, dawson and john near the fireplace.
"oh hey," john greets you, dressed like a minion. "you look like you're having a great time." john laughs and they all reach out to take a halloween coloured shot cup off your tray.
"I am if you are," you smile politely, his teasing remark flying over your head - you're too tired and stressed to digest his words properly.
you're definitely not having a great time. your hand is cramping around the orange and purple striped serving tray, your fake eyelashes are stabbing you, your legs are killing you, and don't even start on how your faux fur coat has you sweating profusely.
"cruella, right?" dawson is the one to question you, gesturing to your halloween costume - a simple black dress paired with a spotted coat, red gloves, pearls and the wig of course.
you nod, "in the flesh."
"y/n!" you hear jack call your name loudly from the opposite end of your condo, his hands clasped around his mouth as he shouts for you. "we need more punch."
you sigh gently, throwing your hand in the air blindly to give the middle hughes a thumbs up - a conformation that you heard him and you'd make another bowl.
"sorry, would you guys excuse me - duty calls." you manage to give a laugh towards the three devil players, all dressed in contradicting costumes, spinning on your heels and speed walking away.
you push through the swinging door that leads to your kitchen, half empty tray of jell-o shots and the glass punch bowl you grabbed on the way balanced in your hands. thankfully nobody was in your kitchen, and the sight of emptiness has you breathing in relief.
you loved having everyone at your place and you especially loved how everyone felt comfortable in dressing up and allowing you, jack and luke to host - but you couldn't wait for the night to be over. you always underestimated the hassle of hosting, and this night is proving that.
you fan your warm face with a gloved hand, trying to cool yourself off. your free hand is pouring some koolaid mix into the empty punch bowl, the powered crystals becoming liquid as they touch the orange juice and sprite concoction.
the door creaks, alerting you as somebody enters your once quiet kitchen. your shoulders deflate naturally, and your already preparing for another task or hosting duty that you'd have to attend to.
you look over your shoulder and are met with the comforting gaze of your best friend. luke smiles softly at you, which makes him look extra cute in his dalmatian outfit. "hey," luke starts, making his way over you, "I haven't seen you all night. you okay?"
the relief floods through your body, but a different wave of emotion quickly replaces any prior ones. you feel yourself wanting to cry, because no, you're not doing okay. "i'm stressed, lukey, i'm sorry. I love hosting but my costume is so hot that i feel permanently wet from how much i've been sweating. my body hurts and i'm tired and I feel like the list of things I need to do is endless and-" you exhale, dropping the wooden mixing spoon to the counter. "respectfully I can't wait for it to end."
luke frowns, reaching you in two long strides. "don't apologize for feeling overwhelmed." he shrugs, glancing over his shoulder quickly, "it's definitely more people than I expected."
you sniffle, laughing gently as you nod in agreement. "definitely."
he smiles softly, and like he's done a million times before, luke gently reaches out, his thumb swiping under your eye to brush any fallen tears. "let's head up to the roof for a bit," he hums, a slight frown tugging his lips, "get some air."
you exhale shakily. "jack needs the punch though."
"fuck him and fuck the punch," luke tells you sternly, "they can survive without it for a little bit, okay?"
"okay," you whisper in agreement.
you live on the top floor of your condo, so the journey to the buildings rooftop wasn't long. luke leads you up the small flight of stairs and out onto the decorated deck like he's done many times, guiding you over to your and his claimed spot.
immediately, you fall back dramatically into the lounger, eyes meeting the starry night sky above. you can feel like you can breath properly, and the only noise you can hear is the city below.
luke smiles at your now closed eyes and starfish pose, making his way over to his favourite green lounger beside you, mimicking your laying down position. he tucks his arm behind his head, using his own forearm as a pillow as he looks at the stars.
a beat passes.
"i'm sorry you're stressed." luke tells you quietly.
you open your eyes, turning your head towards him. luke is already watching you, eyes guilty and frown present.
you shake your head at him, dismissing his apology. after all, he didn't do anything wrong. "it's fine, luke, really."
"I just don't like seeing you struggling," he admits.
"if anything," you start sincerely, "you've made my night 100 times better in like the 5 minutes i've spent with you - which by the way, is crazy, how is this the first time since you got here that we've hung out."
"I know," luke smiles, "i've missed you."
you eye him teasingly, a pout forming on your face. "did my little dalmatian miss his master?" you question in an animated baby voice, one of your hands reaching out to poke his ribs.
luke jolts away from your jab, pulling a disgusted face in favour of your baby voice. regardless of his expression, he was laughing at your question. "you're a weirdo."
"yeah but i'm your favourite weirdo," you say matter of factly, turning your entire body towards him on top of your blue coloured lounger.
luke smirks, "you're definitely top 10."
"top 10?" you screech with a laugh, "not even top 5....I really gotta up my game. who's my competition?"
luke kisses his teeth, in a deep faux thought as he hums. "well, obviously borat is up there."
"obviously," you repeat.
"and my friend y/n is up there too - she's the weirdest one of all." luke sends you another teasing glance, "instead of being normal and saying 'butterflies in my stomach', she calls them ladybirds like a grandma and she eats ranch with almost everything."
you smile, "she sounds hot."
luke tongues his cheek, eyes finding the stars again. another beat passes, the two of you enjoying each others company in silence of city nightlife.
the crinkling of a bag has your brows furrowing, glancing back at luke just as he pulls out a half empty bag of cheeto's. "hungry?" he asks you, holding out the open bag in your direction.
you grab a handful of cheesy sticks, "I didn't even know your onesie had pockets." you tell him with a snicker, plopping two cheetos into your mouth.
"this dalmatian is full of surprises," luke says between chews of the monster handful of chips he'd previously shoved in his mouth.
you snort, grabbing another handful. "of course he is." you're thankful that luke had miraculously snuck cheetos from the party out to the roof, because you think the last time you ate was breakfast. your stomach rumbles at the thought. you swear, your best friend knows you better than you know yourself. "I should've known you'd bring snacks."
luke eyes you with faux suspicion, sucking his thumb clean of cheese dust. "are you calling me fat?"
"luke," you laugh, head lolling away from him and his teasing comments. "you're insufferable."
a heavy drop of water hits your face, starling you. another one follows quickly after, hitting the round of your cheek before sliding down to your ear.
"what the hell," luke mumbles. you eye him quickly, watching as he wipes the few drops of rain off his face. "is that rain?"
you roll your eyes gently, "yes, luke, it's rain."
at your words, the water seems to unleash from the gray night clouds, a thick downfall of rain pouring over you and luke. you sit up quickly, squinting towards the sky. your faux fur coat is quickly becoming drenched, sticking to your skin uncomfortably. "let's go before my lashes fall off." you sigh gently - the thought of heading back into the hectic environment of your condo sounded anything but desirable.
as if luke can sense your hesitation, he gets to his feet quickly, stepping into your line of sight. the dog ears on his onesie are dripping with water, flopping pathetically as he looks at you. he wipes his face of rain, "not yet - let's just stay."
you sigh his name, "it's raining."
"so?" he shrugs, costume sagging down his body, heavy with rain.
"so," you breathe an amused laugh, "we will get wet."
"nothing wrong with a little bit of water," you can see luke smirk through the heavy rain, and you can't help your own lips from tugging upwards at the sight.
you exhale gently, "I don't know."
luke dismisses your hesitation, grabbing a hold of your soaked gloved hands and pulling you towards him, bringing you both farther out the roof deck. "just one dance before we go back to the party - I haven't gotten to dance with you allllll night."
you let him drag you wordlessly, giving him a deadpanned looked.
"plus you deserve a dance - my hard working host." luke adds cheekily. his one hand slides around your waist, pulling you against his front - swaying you to imaginary music gently.
"kiss ass," you mumble, voice just notable over the sound of rain pelting the concrete rooftop. you can feel luke's chest rumble with laughter, his fingers flexing around your hand. "you always dance without music hughes?"
he licks his teeth, looking down at you. your skin looks so soft and dewy from the rain, your eyes dilated from the dark atmosphere. you are blinking up at him gently, your eyelashes wet in a way that makes you look even more beautiful. luke clears his throat, spinning you around dramatically - just barley stopping himself from slipping on the slick ground in the process. "only with you."
luke pulls away from you quickly, but you don't have time to question him before his grip on your hand tightens and he's twirling you back into him. you screech gently, the movement taking you by surprise.
"so you only dance with me or you dance with others but they get the privilege of dancing with music?" you ask him teasingly - this time it's you who is twirling luke around, and the sight of your 6ft2 best friend spinning in a soaked dalmatian onesie was unbeatable.
luke comes back towards you, taking his original position with his strong forearm around your torso, interlocking your fingers together in a waltz like stance. "I only dance with you," he whispers through the rain, "and you're the only one i'll ever dance with - especially in the cold rain without music." he tries to tease you, but his words fall on deaf ears.
you're looking at him with a swirl of emotion in your eyes and your heart beating heavily against your rib cage.
luke seems to stop as well, looking down at you with just as much admiration and tenderness that you're surely showing him. he visibly swallows, his adam's apple bobbing against his throat.
you watch luke's eyes fall to your lips, swiping over them before finding your eyes once again. at first you think you imagine it, but then quickly his eyes dart back to your red lips and the ladybirds start going frantic in your stomach.
was luke about to kiss you?
your blinks start to slow naturally, preparing to shut fully as luke begins to inch in closer to your face, leaning over you in a way that most definitely was uncomfortably straining the muscles in his back.
the door to the rooftop swings open with a squeak before bagging against the wall loudly - echoing all around. startled, you and luke jump away from one another, breathing heavily as your adrenaline comes to a spike.
your body feels freezing without luke's pressed against it, and you shiver uncomfortably, wrapping your soaked fur coat around yourself further.
jack is eyeing you both through the october rain, "hey," he starts, adjusting the plastic firefighter helmet onto his outgrown head of hair. "i've been looking for you guys! y/n we're out of chip dip."
you start walking towards the middle hughes sibling. "sorry, i'll get the other one out the fridge." you sigh, brushing past him and back into the dry hallway of your building.
luke closes his eyes, exhaling loudly.
"you good?" jack asks once luke makes his way over, eyeing his brother suspiciously. "what where you two even doing out here - it's raining."
luke sends his brother a glare, "I know that," he walks back into the building, wiping his face clean of all lingering rain water. "you're so annoying." he quickly walks away from his older brother, leaving him by the door.
jack throws his hands up, "what did I do?"
+ one: christmas
sabrina carpenter's heavenly voice slinks through the warm home, nestling in your ears comfortably. just over the music, you hear ellen hughes laugh happily at something your mom says - both of them in the kitchen, chatting and finishing off a bottle of wine while they clean up the dinner dishes.
jim and your father have been watching hockey tapes in the den, both quiet and content by themselves - them too indulging in a festive spiced wine.
it was christmas eve, after all.
you laugh warmly as quinn dips you low to the ground before pulling you back upwards quickly, sending a quick dizzy wave over you - which is probably the alcohols fault, not quinn's.
jack applauds quinn's elaborate dance moves, smiling with flushed cheeks as he watches you both from his spot sprawled on the worn brown love seat. "where'd you learn to dance like that huggy?" the middle hughes brother questions after a sip of beer, brows raised inquisitively.
quinn doesn't answer and he only spins you on the spot. you hum, "you jealous jack?" your body faces quinn once more, and your momentum has you stumbling slightly, tripping over your own feet and bumping into your dance partner.
"i'm not jealous of anything," jack snickers to himself like he's in on some crazy secret you aren't aware of - but you don't have the mental capacity to unfold that, still laughing and dancing on your family homes shaggy rug.
"yeah yeah whatever," quinn dismisses his brother teasing, rolling his eyes so only you catch it. you giggle at the sight, head falling onto his shoulder as you do.
the stairs creek under somebodies weight, and a moment later luke walks back into the family room empty handed, meeting your eyes. "I can't find it." he tells you.
you leave quinn, which was expected, turning your body and attention towards the youngest brother. "well where did you look?"
after your christmas dinner, ellen and your mom had started going on about childhood memories in their typical sappy mom fashion - laughing and crying while you and the boys eyed them with amusement. your mom was the one who brought up the scrapbook you and luke made together after your shared trip to the zoo on your 11th birthday, which was something even you had forgotten about.
jack had immediately starting pestering and teasing the two of you for being quote on quote cheesy (even though you were kids so obviously you were cheesy - but you digress.) jack begged for you to get the scrapbook so he could see it, and then once he started, quinn claimed he had never seen it and also wanted to look.
"i mean," you had started gently, eyeing luke with a hesitant smile, "it would be nice for us all to look at."
one look at your flushed cheeks and sparkling eyes, luke was sighing, pushing off the couch. "where is it?"
luke thumbs over his shoulder, "the hallway closet."
"really?" you hum, deep in thought as you think about where else your beloved shared scrapbook could possibly be hiding. "I mean, we could check my old bedroom closet? sometimes mom keeps stuff in there."
jack groans dramatically from the couch, head lulling back. "hurry up and go find it! I need to see that picture of the giraffe licking y/n's face."
quinn and jack crack up just at the thought of the picture you'd told them about - the image captured you shrieking as the giraffes purple tongue slides up your cheek.
"you whiny baby - we're going!" you huff, walking towards the stairs with luke in tow, both of you making the journey up the creaky staircase.
your room is located at the end of the hall, still painted the sage green you had chosen when you and your family first moved in. you dodge your suitcase that you left in the middle of the room, all of your clothes sprawled across the cream carpet from when you were frantically searching for your christmas sweater this morning.
"holy shit," luke says from behind you, eyes wide as he looks around your childhood room, "I haven't been in this room since like....highschool."
you open your closet doors with a small laugh, amused at your best friends amusement. you start rifling through the millions of photo albums and frames that your mom did fill your closet with - like you expected.
"oh my god, we were so little." luke smiles, picking up your lady bug decorated picture frame that was sitting on your tall dresser - right beside you original speak now CD and jewelry box. you turn to glance at him over your shoulder, smiling automatically at the sight of him looking at the picture. "god where are my front teeth?" he laughs, placing the frame back down.
it's a picture of you and luke when you were both 10, smiling happily poolside in your bathing suits - luke's akward grin made perfect by his lack of front teeth. you giggle with him, the memory of that picture just as fresh now as the day it was taken.
you rifled through a few more old photo albums until your fingers land on the tiger striped spine of your and luke's scrapbook. you gasp, "I found it!" you pull it out of the closet quickly, standing from your previously crouched position to once again face luke. you start flipping through the pages, giggling at the pictures as you do so. "this is amazing."
"dear diary," luke says with a laugh. you look up inquisitively, a quirk to your brow. he's got your fuzzy purple notebook clutched in his hand, flipped open to a random page. "it's y/n again and today i'm feeling a bit...funny." he reads your entry out loud, an amused smile on his face.
"oh god," you laugh, a hand covering your face in embarrassment- already cringing at your younger self.
luke's eyes light up as he reads the next line, laughing as he does so. "the day started absolutely amazing! it was my best friend luke's 11th birthday party! I can't believe he's 11 and in two more months i'll also be 11." he quotes you, "you were such an optimistic happy kid." he laughs.
your heart stops and you can feel your face fall. memories of the day you had wrote that specific diary entry come flooding back to you. you pale and your stomach plummets unpleasantly - you half a bottle of wine taunting you. "luke - give me the diary."
he's still laughing to himself, book propped open with a thumb and middle finger. he continues reading, "we all went to the arcade that luke and I have always wanted to go to together." he quotes you. he pauses, thinking back to that huge indoor party, "it was a sick arcade." luke hums.
you step towards him, "luke seriously lets go...jack and quinn are waiting." you're suprised at how fast your brain came up with an excuse to leave your room and the diary behind - your anxiety through the roof.
he couldn't fishing reading it.
he skims farther down the page, laughing loudly, quoting your writing more. "she was always around like an annoying little fly. lacey kept taking all of luke's attention away from me - you still sound like this by the way."
you try and lunge towards him and grab the diary, but luke is quicker than you (he always has been) and pulls the book farther out of reach. "i'm feeling jealous, diary. because luke is....special - you're too kind to me," he teases you.
"luke," you huff, hands trying to reach around him to grab the book once again, but he spins away, affectively dodging you once more. "please put that away"
luke continues to read the diary entry, your stomach plummeting deeper. "his soft curly hair and his bright eyes-"
"give that to me now." you panic, voice shaky as you beg. you make another attempt at getting your diary out of luke's hands, but he rushes towards the other side of the room, giggling at the writing of child you complimenting him.
luke starts again, "and when he smiles I get ladybugs in my stomach. I love -" he stops reading, face falling. you watch intently as luke's eyes dance over the rest of the lines on the page, reading your 11 year old self's love confession.
you're already thinking of excuses for the entry - you were just a kid and didn't know what love meant or what marriage meant. but you weren't 5 when you wrote it, you were almost a pre-teen who definitely knew what marriage was. that won't work.
you'd could say that lacey was just having you feeling weird and angry - like she always has, but that excuse doesn't seem plausible.
you watch luke anxiously and silently, knawing on your lip as a way to channel your nerves. you were already preparing for your friendship to plummet. now that luke has read your deepest darkest secret - the life long crush you've had on him - you were ready for him to not want to be your friend anymore.
logically, you know you should say something and at least try and convince him that it was nothing - after all it was almost a decade ago and you could play it off as a joke. but words don't come out, and you're stuck in a plummeting hole.
"wow," luke eventually mutters, closing your diary gently.
"luke," you whisper waterly, eyes following him as he walks your diary back over to your dresser, tucking it between taylor swift and framed pictures. you think you might start praying, desperate for luke to want to stay your friend or at least stay in your life - you can't imagine living without him.
"be honest with me," luke starts, "was this just a silly little crush or do you still...love me?"
you mumble his name again, eyes watering with a million emotions that you definitely weren't expecting to experience on christmas eve.
"y/n....tell me."
you meet his eyes, and all you can mutter is a quiet 'I still do', a tear falling down your face and dipping towards your collarbone.
a beat passes.
"well this is pretty embarrassing, right?" he says with a gentle laugh, running a hand over his head of curls in disbelief.
"what?" you mumble.
"I mean over a decade of loving each other in secret, neither of us ballsy enough to say anything- I wonder how many people knew." he laughs to himself, visibly thinking.
you shake your head, "wait what?"
luke steps towards you, closing the space between your bodies in favour of holding the side of your face, his thumb wiping away the trail of water from your tear, resting against your cheekbone affectionately. "I love you."
"you do?"
he nods, "of course I do, wanna read my endless texts from quinn and jack telling me to man up and confess my lifelong crush on you to prove it?" he challenges you teasingly, a playful tone accompanied by a tinge of nerves.
finally, you smile, lips tugging upwards as you reach out for him, your small hand gripping his wrist to keep him close to you. you shake your head, "no, I believe you."
luke laughs breathily, forehead touching yours as he brings your faces closer together. "thank god because those texts are embarrassing." his words are like a million tiny kisses, tickling your face in a way that has your nose scrunching.
"and you reading my diary wasn't?" you question with laughter.
"god no," luke dismisses, "it was cute."
"kiss ass," you smile, running the tip of your nose down the bridge of luke's, nudging your faces closer together. your other hand reaches for his waist, keeping him close.
"yeah." he agrees, free hand moving up to hold the other side of your face. luke smirks one more time before leaning in, finally kissing you.

You and Will meeting for the first time
pairing: will lenney (willne) x fem!reader
summary:  How you and Will meet
warnings/contents: none?
You first meet in 2021 on a sidemen Sunday shoot
You’re mutual friend harry introduced you guys and instantly hit it off together becoming mates fairly quickly
It was an expensive vs cheap travel video and you, will, harry, and simon were all on the cheap team.
Stuck in a tiny car in the back seat squished between will and harry. Simon in the front and cameraman con in the front as well.
Will giving you aux after a hour of begging
Will secretly queuing Taylor Swift and blaming it on you
Horrible singing. I mean absolutely horrendous. Worse than James Marriott (JOKING)
You and will picking on harry by blasting his diss track
Harry and will harassing Simon to go get food
Stopping at nandos and stealing everyone else's fries
Harry notices you getting flustered by will slightly flirting with you and side eyeing you.
Showing each other tik toks and making stupid comments to the camera
Harry teasing you saying you and will should date because the fans would love it (he's not wrong)
road trip games like are we thinking of the same thing
You and will scheming to prank Harry and Simon.
Complaining about how long the car ride is and having no idea where you're even going
Finally getting there and crashing onto the bed and Will yelling about “outside clothes” on the bed.
Luckily two bedrooms but both had one bed in each. You got stuck sharing with will because Harry forced you to. (You secretly don't mind but you didn't want to admit that)
Will constantly asking if you're ok with sharing the bed.
Harry and Simon barging in with the camera  asking if you guys have kissed
You getting embarrassed and hiding your face in the pillows
“OMG YOU GUYS DID?” - Harry
“NO YOU WANKER!” - Will
Going out to the bars and Harry pulling you aside asking to spill if you fancy will or not.
“Harry, I just met him stop it.”
“No you gotta tell me! You've been blushing and laughing at everything he says”
“What he's funny.”
“He's not that funny.”
“Ok mean, bye.”
Going back to the boys and they have gotten you a drink.
You open a card up and it says that you've got to get 3 guys phone numbers by the end of the night.
Simon being your wing man and getting you 2 guys to give them your number
“Can the third one be Will?” You ask pretty drunk by now
“I mean I’d give it to you anyway, you're quite cute.” Will says back while taking your phone and putting his number in.
“Alright, love birds, we will count it. Let's start heading out.” Simon says while going to try to get Harry to get out the door.
You get an uber and head back to the hotel.
You don't realize how tired you are until you get into the car and fall asleep.
“Shh don't wake her”
“Alright alright sorry”
“Goodnight lads.”
Will putting you down on the bed and giving you one of his t-shirts.
“Y/N, wake up.”
“Nooo”
“You've gotta change and take off your makeup to go to bed”
“Ugh fine” reluctantly getting up and changing in the bathroom
Flopping onto the bed next to will like a starfish
“Today was fun”
“Yeah it was, thanks for making it bearable”
“Of course, me make the good duo I hear”
“Oh yeah?”
“Simon was going on about how the viewers are gonna love our dynamic and how Josh wants us to be in another video already.
“Well that's quite fun, we should probably say goodnight to the vlog right?”
“Yeah probably.”
Will pulls out the camera and starts saying that we called it a night and will see them in the morning.
Slowly falling asleep while talking to each other because of how tired you are.
Ending up cuddling in the middle of the night because of how cold it is.
You guys sleeping in and not hearing the boys try to wake you up
Them barging in filming and laughing at how you guys are still asleep at 11am.
The screenshots of you guys cuddling going viral and starting the couple rumors
Texting each other secretly throughout the rest of the trip
Being sad that the trip is ending and can't continue to see each other every single day.
Will offering to go get dinner after the trip and to continue to hangout
And you obviously saying yes!
Hugging and saying bye when you guys get back to london.
Sadly looking out the car on the way home like you're in a music video wishing that the trip would never end, and looking forward to that dinner.

I CAN FIX HIM- P.B PARKER
Pairing- Jock! Peter x Nerd! Reader (enemies to lovers)
Word Count: 1.7k
Summary: You and Peter become closer after your successful final project is finished, and you realize perhaps Peter isn't as bad as you've made him out to be. A night out at the bar with him leads to... a date in the near future?
Warnings: swearing, sexual tension, alcohol and drug use
come close, i'll show you heaven/ if you'll be an angel all night / trust me, i can handle me a dangerous man / no really i can …
- i can fix him (no really i can), taylor swift
part one... part two
Tumblr media
You could barely see him from the haze that seemed to linger over the crowd of people in the bar, its presence almost suffocating.
But you could hear him.
Even over the steady thud of music and peoples bustling conversations, his laugh rang loud and true in your ears, as if he had been talking about you behind your back.
Your ears seemed to ring as you let your head loll against the cool brick wall, gripping your glass of wine to try and stay cool.
It was stuffy and hot in this cheaply lit, dimmed rundown college bar, and yet it was completely packed- nonetheless.
And yes, you ordered wine at a college bar. You would be damned if you’d be influenced to try some foamy, warm beer- or a gross shot of liquor that would burn the back of your throat like wildfire.
No, you were quite content with your lukewarm glass of red, the same deep red as the lipstick you had boldly applied tonight.
You hoped it functioned as a fluorescent traffic cone in the sea of white shirts and blue jeans- an eyesore to anyone who bothered to glance your way. Your scowl steered everyone in the other direction anyways.
This was not your scene, and you had no plans of blending into it.
A bead of sweat trickled between your breasts, skin seeming dewy and sticky to the touch.
You had to get out here. You were drunk, and hot, and needy.
The longer you stuck by yourself, the more you got in your head about things. Peter had invited you out with some friends to celebrate the praise you received on your presentation, and the good grade that came with it.
Not that you were surprised by any means, you had worked your ass off- and you had worked it off whilst being partners with the most insufferable man alive.
Or so you thought.
Your once conflicting feelings about the man had turned for the worst- and you actually… liked him. Like really, really liked him. And it wasn't just the sex that had sold it.
He was a genuinely funny, charming and smart man. Behind all the jokes and the sass, he had real intelligent ideas.
You hated the fact you liked him.
It was a classic trope, the whole enemies to lovers, the one night stand and then acting like nothing had happened, that no feelings were shared, or had even been felt in the first place.
It was pathetic actually, the way you had let yourself go.
He was the reason you were on the opposite side of the bar. You were afraid if you were near him for too long, you wouldn't be able to stop talking to him- and that wasn't good. Because then he would entrance you, with his charming- boyish grin, and you'd melt into his arms like cotton candy.
Trying to pretend you still hated Parker was impossible though, to anyone who had eyes. You had given up on that act after the presentation- the raised eyebrows and smirks from Peter's friends telling you everything you needed to know.
They knew your little facade of hate was over. The mask had slipped clean off and shattered on the ground, your heart on your sleeve like a lovesick puppy.
You wanted to stay home with your roommates- as none of them would come to this, much preferring a movie night instead. You didn't blame them. You’d be snuggled right alongside them if it wasn't for your little crush, that didn't seem so little anymore.
So here you were, longing for a man you wanted to loathe, on the opposite side of the bar- despite him inviting you. Your head was thudding so loud it felt like a snare drum was directly inside your skull, the endless buzz of people making you woozy.
You gripped your wine glass, shoving past people as polite as you possibly could, making a beeline for the smokers pit. You couldn't take it any longer. It was too much.
The end was in sight, the door just in front of you, so close you could practically feel your fingers brush the crinkled old posters taped all over it.
“Excuse me ma’am- you can’t take that outside.” a man, presumably a worker called to you, and you slipped from his grip, swinging the door open.
“I’m just taking a smoke.” you called, doubting he could hear you over the loud music. The cool night breeze washed over you like a salty ocean wave, and you let out a sigh of relief.
The bouncer eyed you suspiciously as you clenched the wine glass tighter, slipping over to the side of the building, where there was a group of guys huddled, puff like train smoke, a cloud in their wake.
It was too dimly lit to tell who was who. You sighed, pulling a joint and lighter from your purse. You leaned against the brick, perching the joint between your lips, groaning in frustration as you flicked your lighter- nothing but a small spark emerging from it.
“Hey lady, I told you you can’t bring that out here.” that same man yelled, and you just about drunkenly lost your shit.
“Listen man, I’m not gonna steal your four dollar wine glass okay?! I’m just trying to have a joint and a girl cant even get a light!” you stretched, loud enough to alert the group next to you, feeling five sets of eyes on your frame, some shaking with laughter.
The man's face flushed as red as your wine, and you knew you wouldn't be allowed back here again. You couldn't give less of a shit.
“You need help with that?” a familiar voice sounded beside you, making you jump. Peter leaned against the wall next to you, holding a lit lighter to your face, motioning towards your joint.
“Thanks.” you nodded, leaning in and covering it from the wind. You let out a sigh of relief as you inhaled the smoke, the burn in your lungs leaving you fuzzy as you coughed.
“I’ll take care of her man, don’t worry.” he called to the owner, waving him away. His gaze turned back to you, full of charm and sass.
“Well I’ll be damned. Y/L/N smoking a joint? Who would've thought?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah, yeah whatever. I’m drunk and stressed. Big whoop.” you rolled your eyes, taking another inhale.
“I can see that, from the sass you gave the owner. Or maybe thats just normal, I’m not too sure since thats how you always talk to me.” he shrugged.
“Its called flirting, asshole. I was securing a second date at the establishment.”
“Flirting by taking his glasses? I’m not sure I’ve heard of that one before.”
You snorted. “Yeah, I’m in need of souvenirs of this place. Its so beautiful, I just had to take something back with me so I wouldnt forget it.”
He laughed, the sound echoing through the air, interminling with the smoke from your half smoked joint.
“You’re lucky I know him sweetheart. Or you’d never be allowed back tothis beautiful bar.”
You rolled your eyes again, fighting the urge not to let your cheeks heat up. Before you could make a snarky comeback- a voice interrupted your thoughts.
“Hey Y/L/N. Funny seeing you here, without your little school girl getup.” Bucky smirked, peering alongside Peter, patting his shoulder.
“Harty har. Its vintage Chanel, I’ll have you know.”
“You look good.” he commented, both him and Peter checking you out, and you couldnt help but scoff.
“You should see whats under the dress.”
Bucky laughed and Peters eyes widened, stuck like a deer in headlights between you and Bucky. “Shes feisty when shes drunk, eh Parker? I like her. Good choice.”
He saluted you, him and the rest of Peters group heading back inside the bar, probably off to get more shitty tasting beers. You glared at him as he walked off before sharply turning your gaze to Peters, eyes narrowed like a hawks.
You were bold when you drank. Too bold.
“If you’re gonna look at me like that, ask me on a date at least.” you said, tossing the butt to the side and taking a sip of wine.
You felt buzzed. You felt as free as a bird. Anything could happen. You could say anything, and forget it ever happened in the morning.
So why not play him up a little?
“Would you like me to ask you on a date? Cause I will.” he stated.
“No.”
“So no, don’t ask you on a date?”
“No.” you replied again, shrugging your shoulders.
“I’m gonna ask you on a date now.”
You raised your eyebrow, pursing your lips. “And what if I say no?”
“Well I hope you don't since I’ve been meaning to ask you for a while now, but if you did we’d just pretend it never happened.”
Your heart fluttered at his words. He had wanted to ask you out?
“And what, just do this? Have sex once and then act like we aren't interested when we are?”
“Whose we? You are interested then?”
You silently stared at him, glint in your eye as you took another long, drawn out sip. It was nice to have the upper hand and annoy him for once. Suddenly, this whole dynamic wasn't so bad afterall.
“Not sure yet. I’d have to go on a date to find out.”
“Then go out with me, next Saturday. Please.” His voice turned to begging, eyes pleading at you- as if he wasnt the one who played you like a fucking fiddle, teasing you and getting you so riled up youd have to take breaks just from talking to him so you wouldn't lose your mind and kiss him.
He was staring at you, as if you were worth begging over. Like you were above him.
“Please?”
“Please.”
You smiled, hand reaching up to tuck a loose strand of hair back behind his ear, watching as it just fell forward again. Maybe that was too intimate. But he didn't seem to mind.
Encouraged it- actually.
You noticed every little move he made, inching closer and closer towards you- as if your red lips were a magnet.
“Fine. But don't make me wait. Pick me up at 6 o'clock sharp. And I don't like rocks being tossed at my window. A handkerchief wave will do just fine.”
“Just a wave?”
“Just a wave."

TOO LATE
(Painting Palette part III)
Synopsis: (PART 3) reader gets drunk to forget about what happened but when she comes back home Daniel is there. Fashbacks hit.
Warnings: 18+ minors DNI. Alchol, reckless behavior, intoxicated state, slighty dirty talking, heartbreak.
Notes: English is not my first language. Thanks for the comments and requests, keep them coming.
Tumblr media
I don’t go out often, at least not since I came back. But tonight, I let Mia drag me to some bar in SoHo, one of those crowded, overpriced places where the drinks are pink and the boys are louder than the music. I let her feed me tequila and stupid compliments.
I let a stranger’s hands sit too low on my hips. I let myself laugh when nothing is funny. Then I let him kiss me: he tasted like lime and cologne and absolutely nothing.
And I let it happen.
By the time I stumble through the door, I’m soaked in rain, heels in hand, makeup smeared. The hallway spins slightly. My mouth tastes like lipstick and regret.
“Mick?” I call, slurring a little.
No answer.
The apartment is quiet, except for the soft hum of the TV in the living room.
I turn the corner and there he is, Daniel. He is barefoot, wearing a hoodie. Sitting on the couch with a half-empty glass of wine, eyes locked on me like I’ve just walked in holding a lit match.
“Your brother’s out,” he says flatly.
“Good,” I whisper.
He stands slowly. His eyes rake over me, the damp shirt clinging to my body, the wobbly way I lean against the doorframe, the wild in my eyes.
“You look like hell.” He says.
“Thanks,” I snap. “You look like someone I want to hit.”
He doesn’t flinch. “What the fuck are you doing?”
I toss my shoes onto the floor with a loud thunk. “Having fun. Being normal. Is that allowed, Daniel?”
“Normal?” he says, voice rising. “You’re drunk. And you kissed some asshole in a bar two hours ago—”
“Oh,” I say, stepping closer. “So you are keeping tabs on me.”
“I was there. Across the room. Watching you act like none of this means anything.”
“It doesn’t,” I lie. My throat burns.
He takes a slow step forward. “Really?”
“You canceled your date with your ex and still couldn’t bother to tell me,” I snap. “So no, Daniel, I’m not really in the mood to be handled by you.”
“You think I didn’t tell you because I didn’t care?” he hisses.
I blink, lips trembling. “Did you?”
Silence.
That damn silence again.
I laugh, bitter and broken, and it turns into a hiccup, then a sob.
“You don’t get to show up in my life again and ruin me,” I cry. “I barely put myself back together.”
“Then why are all your paintings still about me?”
That stuns me. The silence is deafening. I can’t speak. Can’t move. I just sway on my feet, drunk and exhausted and unraveling in front of him.
Daniel curses under his breath and crosses the room. “Come on,” he mutters, gentler now. “You’re gonna fall.”
“I hate you,” I sob, pushing weakly against his chest. “I hate that you get to live in my head. I hate that you were always him—”
“I know,” he breathes, wrapping an arm around my waist. “I know.”
He pulls me against him. He is warm and solid and I go limp.
He holds me like I’m breakable. Like he knows he’s already broken me. And even through the tears and the ache and the whiskey, I let him guide me toward my bedroom.
I want to yell, to scream.. But instead, I just cry into his shirt while he helps me sit on the edge of the bed, kneels down to untie the laces of my ruined boots, and whispers nothing at all.
I can’t really say when or how I fall asleep I just now I re-live a flashback from years ago, half-dreamed and painfully vivid.
It starts with the sound of laughter.
Mine. His.
Louder, younger. Before anything had weight.
I’m nineteen again, barefoot on the back patio of our old house. It’s summer. I’m wearing cutoffs and a tank top, skin sticky from sweat and lemonade, and Daniel is sitting on the railing, throwing grapes into his mouth like an idiot.
Mick is inside somewhere, probably grabbing another beer. It’s just us. It always ended up just us.
I remember the way the light hit his profile: dusk painting him in honey, the sharp lines of his jaw softening as he smiled at me like I was funny even when I wasn’t.
“Still doing that weird figure drawing thing?” he asked, legs swinging lazily.
“It’s called studying anatomy,” I said, tossing a grape at him. It missed. “But thank you for belittling my entire degree.”
Daniel caught the next one in his mouth, grinning. “You draw dicks for school, babe.”
“I draw bodies, pervert.”
“You practice on real ones?” He smiled with brakets.
I rolled my eyes, but I could feel the heat creep up my neck.
He leaned forward a little, elbows on his knees, looking at me with that ridiculous glint in his eyes, the one that made it hard to breathe. “You could sketch mine,” he said, voice teasing but low.
I remember freezing. My heart stuttered like it didn’t know how to keep going.
I wanted to laugh. I wanted to joke back.
But I just stood there, swallowing the lump in my throat, pretending I didn’t hear it the way he meant it.
When I finally looked up at him, he was already looking away, like maybe he’d gone too far. Like he didn’t mean to say it out loud.
Then Mick came back out with drinks and the spell broke.
But I knew. I knew then, in my chest, in my gut, in the part of me that stores memories I don’t admit out loud, that I was in trouble. That I was falling.
I murmur something in my sleep and turn onto my side. Back in the present, my fingers twitch slightly on the bedsheet.
Daniel is still outside the room. Maybe still waiting.
Maybe still thinking about the first time I almost drew him.
I wake up with my mouth dry and my head splitting right behind my eyes.
The bedsheets are tangled around my legs. My nightshirt is twisted and halfway up my thigh. I groan into the pillow, mascara smudged on the fabric, and wish I could melt through the mattress and disappear.
Memories from last night flicker behind my eyes.
Rain.
Daniel.
Kissing someone who didn’t matter.
Screaming at someone who did.
The feel of strong arms pulling me off my feet while I sobbed into his chest.
I don’t remember crawling into bed but I know who put me there.
The door creaks open before I can even sit up. I flinch. “Oh my god, can you knock—?”
“It’s just coffee,” Daniel says, stepping inside.
He’s holding a mug and he’s looking at me like I might bolt if he breathes too loudly.
He sets it on the nightstand, eyes scanning my face, then the room, then briefly my legs under the covers. It’s fast. Barely a flick of his gaze. But I see it.
And so does he.
He clears his throat and steps back.
“You looked like you might need this,” he mutters.
I sit up slowly, head pounding, fingers curling around the warm mug. “Thanks.”
We’re quiet for a beat. Then another.
Daniel leans against the doorframe, arms crossed, and watches me drink like I’m holding something sacred. Or maybe like he wishes it was him. “You okay?” he asks after a moment.
I nod, then shake my head. “I don’t know.”
He looks away. Exhales through his nose. “You scared the shit out of me last night.”
“I scared myself.”
Silence.
I stare into the coffee. He watches me like he’s remembering something he hasn’t decided whether to say.
“You remember the race in Melbourne? That year Mick crashed in Q2 and we got stuck in the hotel for two days because of the storm?”
I blink. “Yeah. Why?”
“You fell asleep on the couch with your sketchpad on your chest,” he says. “Pencil still in your hand. I thought you were gonna stab yourself.”
I smile faintly. “You stole it off me.”
“And flipped through it,” he admits. “There were three pages of me.”
My cheeks flush.
“I told myself you were just bored. But you’d drawn my mouth like… like you knew it.”
I glance up at him, heart tight. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I don’t know,” he says, voice rough. “Because I wanted to. Which meant I shouldn’t.” His eyes drop to the line of my collarbone where the blanket slips slightly. He lingers. Then back to my face, serious again. “I’ve always wanted to.”
The air thickens.
My mouth goes dry for a different reason.
“You’re staring,” I whisper.
“I know.”
Another beat. Then he pushes off the doorframe, takes two slow steps toward the bed.
“Can I sit?” he asks, quietly.
I nod.
He sinks onto the mattress beside me, still keeping a safe inch between us. But I can feel him: he’s all heat, pressure, unsaid things. And I wonder how long we’ll pretend it isn’t already happening.
Because he is sitting close now. Not touching, but near enough that the air between us is louder than words.
I sip the coffee again, buying time.
“So,” I say, eyes still on the mug, “you looked through my sketchbook.”
“I looked through all your sketchbooks,” he replies.
I glance up and he’s already watching me. Like he never really stopped. His voice is quiet when he adds, “That’s how I knew.”
“Knew what?”
“That you felt something too.”
I blink. “Daniel…”
“You never drew people the way you drew me,” he says. “Even back then, before you knew what you were doing with a pencil. You drew me like you were studying me. Memorizing me.”
My throat tightens.
“You know why I never said anything?” he asks. “Why I never did anything?”
I nod once. “Because of Mick.”
“Yes. And because I was scared.”
“Of what?”
“Of falling for someone who’d see right through me,” he says, gaze flicking between my eyes. “You’ve always seen through me. Even when I was smiling, even when I was pretending to have it all together.”
“And now?” I ask, breath shaky.
“Now?” He leans in slightly. “Now it’s worse.”
“Why?”
“Because I still want you. And I don’t know how to stop.”
The confession steals the oxygen from the room.
I don’t answer. I can’t. Instead, I put the mug down with a soft clink and I lean in. His lips meet mine like we’ve been doing this in dreams for years.
It starts slow. Careful. Like testing a memory. But the second I sigh into his mouth, everything shifts: his hand cups my jaw, thumb brushing my cheek. I crawl into his lap without thinking, without breathing. My nightshirt rides up, his hoodie bunches under my fingers. He kisses like he means it, like he’s drowning in it, like we’ve wasted too much time already.
“God, you’re…” he mutters between kisses, “everything I said I wouldn’t touch.”
“And you’re late,” I whisper against his neck, “years late.”
He groans low and needy, like he wants to argue, but can’t. His hands slide under my thighs, pulling me closer. His mouth moves down my jaw, then to my collarbone. My head falls back.
“You still want to sketch me?” he breathes.
I nod. “Only if I can make it indecent.”
He laughs against my skin.
I tug his hoodie over his head, fingers grazing warm muscle. He’s solid beneath it, much older, stronger, broader than he used to be. He pushes the thin strap of my nightshirt down my shoulder, leans in like he’s going to kiss every inch of skin I offer.
The front door opens.
Keys. The jingle. The very loud voice of Mick calling: “Yo! I’m grabbing leftover pizza—anyone home?”
We freeze. Daniel’s hands are on my hips. My lips are swollen. His shirt is gone. I’m straddling him in a sheer nightgown.
And panic slices through me.
I launch off his lap like I’ve touched fire, stumbling across the room and grabbing the edge of the blanket. I wrap it around myself just as Mick’s footsteps hit the hallway.
Daniel swears under his breath and scrambles for his hoodie.
The bedroom door’s still cracked open.
I sit on the edge of the bed, flushed, heart hammering.
He looks at me. We both start breathing again.
Too late.

i might as well be drunk in love
“slut!” by taylor swift
benny cross x fem!reader / 1.4k words
idea: you’re drunk, and benny takes care of you after a long night out
tw: drinking, swearing, so fluffy it’s sickening
notes: this is my first big piece that I’ve wrote and omg it took FOREVER !! i haven’t been able to stop thinking about “the bikeriders” she literally consumes my every waking thought AHH !! anyway i hope you guys enjoy reading this:))
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆
it’s just about 4 in the morning and you and benny just made it back home to your place. you’d been so busy this week due to picking up more shifts at the library so you would be able to pay off the rent by the end of the month, groceries, and afford to buy a little more thread to stitch up a pair of your jeans and the large tear on bennys jacket. not only was that stressful, but throughout the week you had to deal with some grouchy elderly women, preverted college boys (‘pinkos’ as zipco would call them), and multiple groups of chaotic elementary school students who were checking out their books for the semester, and only to have a slice of toast, scorching hot coffee with no milk OR sugar, and fucking prayer holding you together. so yes, this night out was a well deserved one. but who’s kidding? you needed that shit! now here you are, barely getting up the stairs to your apartment as benny holds onto you for dear life.
as you both stood outside of your apartment door, benny began digging for his copy of keys in his pocket while leaning you up against his side and adjusting his hold on your hip. he draped his jacket over you before you hopped onto his bike to head home, leaving him in his tattered sleeveless black shirt against the cold chicago air.
“sorry baby, turns out the key were in the other po-“ “y’arms are so pretty honey.. like-i like how they feel ‘round me” you cut him off with slurred words as you drunkenly gazed up at him.
“can’t believe i get to see them all t’time, for m’self, a-and nobody else gets ta have ‘em but me.. a’like when they hold me when it’s real cold..o-or hot.. or ‘round the pillows or the flowers ya get me.. or when ya’ cuddlin’ lula.. oh i hope she’s not t’cold, v’missed her so much.. she’s probably sad that her mama and daddy were gone all night-“ at this point benny could only chuckle as his girl jumped from talking about his arms to their sweet black cat lula, it made his heart swell.
once he got you into your apartment he began walking you straight towards your bed, as your giggles and drunk thoughts echoed down the hallway “no b-benny i don’t wanna t’sleep yet, i wanna watch t’bakin’ show on channel 6, they be makin some.. some of them valen..tines treats a-and i wanna try” you began to whine as benny sat you down at the edge of your bed, kneeling in front of you as he begins unbuckling the straps of your red kitten heels “yeah we can watch some baby, d’worry, jus’ wanna getcha out of these ‘nd this dress” “thought ‘ya liked me in this dress? grabbed these heels to match with em’” you said sadly, your eyes starting to droop.
benny looked up at you and could see the slight pout on your face, so he moved his left hand to caress your thigh “oh y’know i love this dress, but that tiny little nightie a’yours, that pretty pink flower in the middle that barely covers you up, takes the cake for me” he says as he moves closer to you “re-eally?” “yeah baby, she’s m’favorite” his voice gets muffled as he places some kisses on the tops of your thighs, still looking right back up at your sleepy eyes “but i love everythin’ that you wear.. especially when you wear nothing” he says with a smirk on his face, and had stopped your whining and shut you up instantly.
after getting your heels off benny helps you stand up to start taking off your clothes. the jacket was first to go, as he tossed it on top of your vanity chair. he then pushed the straps of your red gingham dress down which slowly began to fall to the floor. you were left in the dainty lingerie set you’d picked out for the night; the blush pink fabric with the lacy details matching the drunken flush on your face. benny takes his time to get a look at you, rubbing his callused hands up and down your sides. he knows that all the shifts you’ve picked up and the deadlines of payments have been making you stressed, so he just wants to take care of you tonight, although it won’t come close to repay you for all the sacrifices you make for him.
after benny unclasped your bra, he swiftly moved to your side of the bed and grabbed your linen night gown “arms up for me baby” you obliged, sleepily raising your arms above your head you momentarily close your eyes, enjoying the feeling of the soft fabric against your skin. but you felt something else. something running along your legs. was that fuzz? you didn’t wear socks with your heels tonight and benny already tossed your dress into the laundry bin. you were stumped until you heard a rumbling sound from beneath you. purring.
“oh lula! l-look honey s’lula! she’s purring up ‘gainst me!!” you gleamed to benny, as he too was receiving affection from lula. “she’s happy that her mama and daddy are back home, right honey? home?” benny ever so slightly teased, but out of love of his girls’ adorable rambles. “yeah. home” you said with a smile. now after changing benny walks you over to your side of the bed. he sat you down facing him, but paused briefly as he realized he forgot to take some of your jewelry off.
“one second mama, forgot to get this necklace and these hoops off, i know you sleepy but i’ll be quick” he said, quickly and gently taking them off “i told ya’ i ain’t sleepy.. gotta.. we gotta still watch our show ‘member?” “y’right baby, our show” a chuckle left his mouth; of course he remembered, but he wanted you to take the credit for remembering about it as you were fighting to stay awake. “what would i do without you baby? hmm?” “d’know ben-baby, but don’t worry, y.. ya’ have me” “and you have me baby. m’sweet baby” benny’s words became muffled as he held your jaw and kissed you deeply before placing your jewlery down on the nightstand. you were finally lying down after benny got you comfortable. he then quickly stripped down to his boxers and swapped his black shirt for a white wifebeater before joining you in bed.
just by looking at you he could tell that you were barely awake, but sticking to his word, he turned the tv onto channel 6, as clips of a dessert with chocolate and some kind of fruit in it come across the screen. strawberries? or raspberries? hell, cherries? he could not tell.
as the sounds of the baking show filled the room benny shifted you closer to him, so you could rest on his chest. “did you have a good time tonight baby? i know you’ve been excited about this meeting all week” he asked you softly. you let yourself finally close your eyes, knowing that it was okay to rest now “s’so fun.. ears are ringin’ a lil.. but had so fun with t’girls, and t’club,” benny notices that your sentences are making less sense as you are just moments away from knocking out, but he was able to make out one coherent sentence of yours before that “but i had t’most fun with ya’ tonight.. ya’ lit up m’whole night honey” seconds away from slipping into your own dream land, he had to admit, you saying that so effortlessly made his breath hitch in his throat. he didn’t have a care for anything outside the club until he met you, and you have completely flipped his life upside down because of it. it gave him meaning to ride home late at night knowing he was coming back home to you. it gave him purpose to always come back to you, regardless of what’s going on through his mind. you are there for him, you are there to care for him, laugh with him, cry with him, and to just love him for the person he is. you are there for him. you are it for him “and you light up my life baby, my light”
he reaches his hand over to turn off the little lamp on his side of the bed and when he turned his head back to look at you, you were fast asleep; soft snores leaving your mouth. he could only smile, knowing that you can get the deserved rest you’ve needed “love you so much sweet girl, with my whole heart” he kisses the top of your head as lula leaps onto the bed to join her mama and daddy for cuddles.
peace and quiet at last.

✮ PETER LOSIN’ WENDY
Tumblr media
pairings: chris sturniolo x fem!reader | chris sturniolo x named fem!oc
synopsis: in which chris doesn't realize that while pursuing another girl, he's losing the girl that would've been the one for him.
warnings: swearing, drunk!reader + drunk!chris, cheating, angst, angst, and even more angst, unresolved hurt.
THIRD PERSON POV
chris didn't realize he had made a mistake until it was far too late. he thought that amelia was the girl he wanted, but he soon realized that he couldn't have been more wrong.
he really, truly though that he would have enough will and time to choose between the two girls, however he didn't realize that as he chased them both, he was losing the girl that was the one for him.
VINTAGE TEE, BRAND NEW PHONE, HIGH HEELS ON COBBLESTONES
as y/n and chris made their way home from some random los angeles party, the couldn't help but giggle each time y/n's heels clicked against the cobblestone path they walked along. the two couldn't help their drunken giggles as they blindly made their way home.
"you should take those off before you hurt yourself." chris laughed, his hand intertwined with hers as he held his phone in the other.
"i'll be fine. you never told me where your shirt was from by the way."
"it's from some vintage thrift store back home in boston."
"i like it." she whispered, titling her head as she stared at him beneath the streetlight.
"let me take a picture of you, i don't have any on this phone yet." chris smiled, taking the picture as she blushed, watching as he set as his lockscreen.
BUT I KNEW YOU, DANCING IN YOUR LEVI'S, DRUNK UNDER A STREETLIGHT
the two continued their walk home, haphazardly walking into each other as they stumbled further down the path. their hands loosely intertwined with each other's, chris couldn't help pull her closer to him, his other hand falling to her waist as he softly rocked their bodies back and forth, humming a slow beat to a song playing quietly in his head.
"i like this side of you." she whispered, brushing his hair out of his eyes at he smiled down at her.
"not many get to know this side of me, but you do."
"i wanna know every side of you." she smiled back, watching as his eyes sparkled slightly.
y/n slowly walked ahead, unaware of chris' phone pinging in his pocket, another girl blowing up his messages wondering where he was as she missed him.
with a shameful sigh, he plucked his phone from the back pocket of his levi's, swiping away the notifications she sent his way.
HAND UNDER MY SWEATSHIRT, BABY KISS IT BETTER // SAID I WAS YOUR FAVOURITE
chris hand was beneath the back of y/n's sweater as she cried against his chest, her head hurting from the amount of stress she had dealt with during the day.
"baby, can you kiss it better?" she teased, trying to lighten her mood, making chris roll his eyes before pressing a gentle kiss to the girl's forehead, smiling against her skin as she keened into his touched.
walking backwards, he led her to her couch, falling back against the cushions, pulling her on top of him as he continued to rub her back, hoping to ease some of her stress.
"you're my favourite person, y'know that?" chris whispered as she laid her head on his chest, her fingers dancing along his bicep as they laid there.
"i am?"
"without a doubt."
CHASE TWO GIRLS, LOSE THE ONE
y/n hadn’t meant to pry and prod, but chris had grown distant lately, he was off around her and she was curious. so when his phone pinged while he was in the shower, she let her curiosity get the best of her. but she wished she hadn't as she read the notification that lit up his screen.
amelia
cmon chris, you know i'm the one you rly want
every time she re-read the girl's message, it chipped away at her heart. how could chris do this her? betrayed couldn't even begin to describe how she felt. as chris' screen faded to black, she heard the water shut and she couldn't be bothered to move. she didn't realize she was crying until chris was kneeling in front of her, gently wiping her tears.
"what's wrong y/n?"
"who's amelia?"
"wait what?" chris sputtered, her question sending shockwaves through this body as she stared at him, completely unsure of who was kneeling before her.
"who is she?"
"she's no one, baby i promise."
"tell me the truth, who is she, chris?"
"i met her the night we came home from that party and i've been seeing her occasionally since." he whispered, finding no use in lying to her as she sat there, her tears of sadness becoming tears of anger as she felt her hurt settle in her heart.
"get out."
"what?"
"get out. i'm done. we're done. i'm not going to sitting around while you chase some other girl."
BUT I KNEW YOU'D LINGER LIKE A TATTOO KISS // I KNEW YOU'D HAUNT ALL MY WHAT-IFS
for months following her breakup with chris, y/n had been a shell of who she used to be. she hadn't experienced the heartbreak he caused before in her life. it had left behind a different kind of hollow in her chest. a void that no one would fill.
no one except chris.
and for months, he lingered in her life. in the back of her mind as she walked down the streets they used to walk together. the ghost of his lips pressing against her temple every time she had a migraine. the feeling of his hand beneath her sweater, fingertips mindlessly drawing shapes the small of her back as she laid in bed. the smell of his cologne stubbornly sticking to her pillow cases on his side of the bed.
he was everywhere and she couldn't forget him. he was a ghost unable to move on as she felt swallowed and suffocated by her pain. she didn't know what to do and she couldn't take the after-shocks that his infidelity put her though.
he invaded every thought she had.
what if i'm not good enough?
what if was i enough for chris?
what if they cheat on me like chris did?
what if i can't move on?
what if chris is hurting too?
he was everywhere in her mind. he haunted every possible chance she had at moving past the pain she felt.
I KNEW YOU'D MISS ME ONCE THE THRILL EXPIRED, AND YOU'D BE STANDING IN MY FRONT PORCH LIGHT, I KNEW YOU'D COME BACK TO ME
y/n knew chris would come miss her once the thrill of being with amelia had faded. she wasn't someone chris could be with long time, from what she had been told by people knew her. she knew he'd come back, he made a promise that he'd find his way back to her as he walked out of her house that night.
but as she pulled into her driveway, she found him standing under her porch light, his hair sticking to his forehead as the rain fell against it. sighing, she got out of her car, the door slamming shut behind her as she stood there.
"chris."
"i miss you."
"no. you don't get to do this chris."
"listen please." he pleaded, watching as she looked up toward the sky for a moment, her eyes closed as her shoulders fell before looked back at him, nodding and crossing her arms.
"i know i fucked up. i made the wrong choice and put someone before you and i shouldn't have. i should've never gone for her. i had a good thing going and i completely fucked it up."
"chris you need to leave, please. i can't go through that kind of pain again."
"please give me one more chance. i'll do better."
"if i let myself forgive you, i won't be able to forgive myself. i will be subjecting myself to constantly worrying that i'll never be enough for you. i'll be walking on eggshells around you, scared to push you into the arms of another girl. i cannot put myself through that again. when i found out you cheated on me, it stripped me of everything i knew. i lost my sense of stability and sense of who i was. i became someone i didn't know, i was fucking destroyed chris. so no, i cannot let you back into my life because i would be betraying the promise i made myself."
"i'm so sorry y/n, i wish i could fix my mistakes but just know, that if i can ever be forgiven by you, i'll be waiting. i'll always wait for you and i'll always love you."

🇩🇪 || Gorgeous || SV5 x Mark’s gf!Reader
Warnings: 18+, unprotected sex, cheating, bathroom sex, public sex, blowjob, sub!sebastian, fingering (for like a second), orgasm denial
Wordcount: 1.2k
Tumblr media
Mark’s girlfriend was lovely, she really was. She was younger than Sebastian, but it was something nobody paid any attention to
They were out celebrating one time, she had gotten drunk and made fun of the way Sebastian talked
It made him kind of sad, but she was drunk, she wasn’t thinking straight
Later in the night, she was sat opposite to him after Mark had left for some shit
They didn’t talk. She looked at him, but his eyes were into his almost empty glass at the table in front of him
“You’re so cool, it makes me hate you so much” She muttered to herself, too low for Sebastian to hear over the loud music
She had never seen anyone as gorgeous as Sebastian. She couldn’t say anything to his face, cause, I mean… Look at his face
He should take it as a compliment that she talks to everyone else but him
She had left the table to get another drink at the bar, in the meantime, Mark had returned to their table
“I don’t think she likes me” Sebastian said to Mark as he sat down
They both looked up at her as she stood at the bar “No, she likes you. She just needs a little warming up” He said, turning back to his teammate “Try go up and talk to her” He suggested
“Are you sure? I really don’t think she likes me” The German sighed
“Just try and go up and talk to her. She’ll come around” Mark encouraged him
He sighed and nodded shortly before leaving his glass and walking up to the woman
“Hey, can we talk?” Sebastian asked, touching her hand slightly before retrieving it
She turned around, sighing softly “What?” She Said more firm than she had intended
“Why don’t you like me?”
She looked into his eyes. The ocean blue of them made her feel like she might sink and drown and die
She looked over at Mark who was talking to someone before she turned back “I’m so furious, that you make me feel this way, but what can I say? You’re so gorgeous” She sighed, subconsciously leaning towards him
She sighed as they were way too close now, but she was way out of it to pull back “You should think about the consequences of touching my hand” She said softly
“What are you talk-“ He didn’t get to finish his sentence before her hands were on his waist, her lips softly against his
“Why… You… You’re with Mark- I can’t-“ “Just shut up” She demanded as she kissed him again
“Come on” She took his hand, leading him to the bathroom, taking a quick glance over at Mark, making sure he wasn’t watching them
She has him pressed up against the door, her lips aggressively on his, her hand locking the door, her other hand pushing on his hip
“You’re with Mark” He said it more to remind himself that she was a no touch zone
“You’re all that I want” She panted, her lips going to his neck, kissing and sucking harshly, making Sebastian’s mind cloudy, and forget everything about her dating his teammate
He had tried so hard not to let any sounds slip, but the feeling of her lips sucking on him, made him slip and moan softly
He didn’t realise her lips was gone from his neck before she was on her knees and her hands unbuckled his belt
“If Mark finds out-“ “Don’t talk about him when I’m about to give you a blowjob” She interrupted, pulling his pants and boxers down to rest at his mid thighs
“I just don’t- fuck” He interrupted himself with a moan when her tongue slipped over his slit
“You don’t what?” She asked in a teasing tone, holding his waist with his shirt ridden up
“Nothing- fuck. Scheiße“ He panted as she hollowed her cheeks, taking most of him in
She gaged slightly as he hit the back of her throat, sending vibrations through him, making him moan softly
“We shouldn’t-“ He cut himself off with a moan as she started bopping her head slowly
One of his hands threaded with her hair, holding the locks, not moving her, while his other hand settled on her shoulder
He shut his eyes closed, his head falling back against the door as he bit his lip, trying to hold his sounds in as her tongue traced a sensitive vein
She sped up her head, holding onto his waist tightly, her nails digging into his skin
“He’a gonna kill me” He whispered to himself, moaning slightly
She scratched at his skin, reminding him to not talk about Mark while she has his cock in her mouth
He hissed slightly at the pain, but was quickly turned into a moaning mess when she sped up her head again
He started bucking her hips into her mouth, hitting the back of her throat, making her gag and sent vibrations through him, getting him closer to his orgasm
“Mh… So good” he moaned “Close” He chocked out
She got off of him, a string of spit connecting her mouth and the tip of his cock
She wiped her mouth, chuckling slightly at his whine of denial
“Don’t be so sad. I want you to fuck me” she said, kissing his jaw softly “Can you do that for me?” She teased to which he nodded
She bent herself over the sink, lifting up her dress, revealing her soaked panties
He walked over to her, almost drooling at the sight
He pushed her panties to the side, one of his hands on her waist, holding up her dress, the other hand feeling the wetness with two of his fingers
She whimpered softly as he pushed in his fingers. She was looking over her shoulder, biting her lip softly
He pulled out his fingers, lining himself up with her. He slowly pushed into her. Her whimpers and soft moans music to his ears
He sat into a slow pace, gradually getting more rough, his hands tight on her waist, holding her as he pounded into her, moans escaping both of their lips
One of his hands went to her front, his fingers circling her clit, making her moans louder while she clenched down around him, pulling him closer to his orgasm
“Ah- so close” He moaned, his cock twitching side her, his thrusts getting sloppy and out of rhythm
“Come on, baby. Come for me” she encouraged him, holding on to his wrist on the hand that was rubbing her clit
Her encouragement and her touch sent up of the edge, his hips stilled as he filled her up with his cum
He moved his hips slowly to ride out his orgasm. The feeling of his cum filling her up was sending her over the edge as well, clenching down rapidly around him, his name rolling off her tongue
“No mentioning it” she said, trying to fix her hair in the mirror
“Of course” He sighed “Is this gonna be a casual thing, or was this it?” He asked, fixing his clothes
She sighed at his question “We’ll see” she smiled, kissing his cheek before leaving the bathroom
Mark looked at them both confused “Took you long enough” He said
“We fell into talk” She nodded

Love Story
Richie Jerimovich x f!reader fun flirty blurb where your friends are visiting you in Chicago 🤪🫶
Tumblr media
Just fluffy funsies here but still 18+ as always bc why not. Love yous all💕
———————
The restaurant is mostly void of customers as the busy Saturday dinner service winds down. You look up from your glass as the last sweet drops of whatever wine Richie picked for you tonight dance onto your tongue. That sweet smile you love so much comes into view.
You are wrapping up an evening out with some close friends visiting Chicago. As perfectly timed as always, Richie approaches your party.
“Ladies,” Richie practically sings as he nears the table occupied by you and two of your closest friends, “It’s been my sincere pleasure serving you tonight, and watching you get my lady wine drunk.”
Giggles erupt as your (also slightly wine drunk) friends make heart eyes at you and Richie.
“Richie!” You screeched in mock-anger, “I am not that drunk, thank you very much. Even if I were… That’s on our host for over-serving meeee.”
More giggles dance from your table as your friends enjoy the show you and Richie are putting on.
“You’re right, sweetheart,” He winks your way, loving this game you play, “My apologies to our distinguished guests.”
Wine-fueled cackling erupts as you and your friends eat up every minute Richie spends with you. He really does make you swoon even when he isn’t trying to.
“One last thing before I turn you lovely ladies loose on the town,” The lilt in his voice has you all exchanging looks of excitement, “Dinner is on us tonight. Thank you for being here tonight and showing my girl such a good time.”
Richie’s hands cross over his chest, his gratitude on full display for the world to see. A series of happy sounds and light cheers fill your ears but all you can focus on is how damn blue Richie’s eyes are. How sincere his expression is.
You and your friends clink your wine glasses in a celebration and shrill “cheers!”
None other than the Neil Fak passes behind Richie and slips him a note during your toast. He glances down at it, smirks slightly, and flips it so you can see:
A scrawled out “last guests :)” in black ink. They are professionals to the minute.
Richie’s demeanor changes immediately. He loosens his tie and unbuttons the top button of his crisp white dress shirt. The way his strong shoulders relax slightly let you know that now he can be just be Richie, not maître d’ Richie.
Servers begin cleaning up around you but Richie shows no sense of urgency to leave. He pulls up a chair next to you and takes a sip of your wine, silently nodding to himself at his excellent choice. You shake your head at him teasingly but lean in to kiss his plush lips anyway.
Someone turns up the chill house music and your group settles into comfortable, lively conversation. Carmy and Syd come out to say hi while Fak brings yet another bottle of wine out for you to enjoy. It’s only then that it hits you: Richie is turning the restaurant into a private little nightclub for you and your girls to enjoy. Swoon.
“You look real pretty, baby,” He whispers in your ear and leaves a tender kiss on your temple, “Beautiful.”
Heat rises in your chest as you smile over at him, “So do you, Richie.”
You slide a finger over his exposed neck and find yourself practically drooling at the warm, smooth skin you find.
Richie sees the fire in your eyes and smirks back at you, one eyebrow cocked. He wraps his strong arms around you and pulls you close, his warm body sending goosebumps dancing across your skin.
“Patience, baby,” he whispers deeply in your ear. You pout jokingly for a beat before nodding your head slightly with a giggle. You know he’ll be worth the wait.
You begin to settle into his embrace when you realize the beginning to Love Story (Taylor’s Version, of course) is playing from the hidden speakers. Richie literally gasps in excitement, jolting you slightly before pulling you onto your feet.
“Hell yeah! We love T Swizzle! Right, baby?” The way he lets the joy radiate off of him sends butterflies to your stomach. It’s infectious you think as your closest friends join you in dancing along to this classic love song.
God, you love this man.
You feel the wine and the excitement and the love as you float around the room with Richie. By now, most everyone from the kitchen has joined your group. All you can see around you is a collection of your favorite people having so much fun and living in this very moment.
Your eyes feel watery as Richie tilts your head towards his and smiles warmly. The look of love his face filling your heart up to the very brim.
He gives you small, inquisitive look — silently checking in and making sure you’re okay. You nod and lift your lips in a smile to let him know that you’re perfect. This is perfect.
Richie twirls you around gently as your friends belt out the chorus: Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone.
You swear someone replaced Romeo with Richie and you’re 95% it was the goofy man himself.
“Thank you for this, Romeo,” You whisper to your man, adoration oozing from your lips. You’re lost in his kind eyes as he leans in for a quick kiss.
“Anything for you, my Juliet.”
———
The night slips away slowly, sweetly.
You spend hours just dancing, talking, enjoying the company around you, snacking on whatever Carmy or Sydney or Marcus want you to try next. All around you are your favorite people just having fun and being together.
While The Bear won’t be debuting its new nightclub hours anytime soon, this one-night-only event sneaks its way into your core memories. It’s fun, and comfortable, and happy.
You realize at some point, lost in the music and the emotions just how lucky you are to get to do all of this with Richie.
It hits you suddenly and wholly that you are so, so in love with Richie Jerimovich.
It’s a love story, baby just say ‘yes.’

Chase Two Girls, Loose The One
Tumblr media
WC: 1.4K
Summary: Connors priorities drift and it gets him to a spot he knows he can’t get out of.
The night was suffocating.
Y/N stood in the middle of a crowded house, the air thick with the smell of spilled beer and perfume. Laughter echoed around her, but she couldn’t focus on any of it. The music was too loud, the lights too bright, and she felt out of place in her heels and lipstick. Her eyes flitted over her friends, who were already too drunk to notice her unease, and she clenched her fists, wishing she were anywhere but here.
She hated parties. Hated pretending she was having fun when all she really wanted was to be at home, in her room, curled up in one of Connor’s old vintage t-shirts. They were soft, comforting, and smelled faintly like him—like those late nights spent with his arms wrapped around her, whispering about nothing and everything under the moonlight. She missed those nights.
But here she was, surrounded by people she didn’t care about, trying to force a smile while the one person who mattered wasn’t even looking at her.
Connor was across the room, talking to Katie.
Katie—the girl who had slowly, steadily, started occupying more and more of Connor’s time over the last few months. The girl who had gone from being a distant acquaintance to what he now called “a really good friend.” Y/N hated how casual that phrase was when it felt like a punch to her gut every time he said it. A good friend, as if that excused how often he spent time with her, how often his phone lit up with texts from her when they were supposed to be spending time together.
She felt her throat tighten as she watched him laugh at something Katie said, his head tilted just the way it used to be when they’d sit in the backseat of his car, talking for hours, stealing kisses between conversations. She couldn’t help but wonder—did he laugh like that with Katie? Did he draw stars around her scars? Did he dance under the streetlights with her? Did he hold her hand the same way, kiss her the same way?
She wanted to scream at him, at the whole situation, but all she could do was stand there, feeling hollow.
It wasn’t like Connor was a bad boyfriend. He was sweet in all the ways that counted. He’d walk her home late at night, carry her books between classes, and whisper sweet nothings only for her to hear. He made her feel like the center of his world—on the weekends. Because that’s what it had come to, hadn’t it? She got his weekends, while Katie seemed to have him the rest of the week.
He swore it was nothing. That Katie was just a friend, that Y/N was the one he loved, the one he wanted. But when you’re young, people assume you know nothing, that you’re being irrational. That was what Connor always said, wasn’t it? “You’re overthinking it, babe.” Or, “Come on, don’t be jealous. She’s just a friend.”
But Y/N wasn’t stupid. She wasn’t some clueless girl who couldn’t see what was happening right in front of her. She knew what it looked like. She knew the way Connor had changed—the way his texts were shorter, the way his kisses sometimes felt absent, like his mind was elsewhere.
Her friend Inez had been the first to say it out loud, to whisper the truth Y/N had been trying to bury deep inside herself for months.
“Y/N,” she’d said, leaning in close one afternoon at lunch, her voice low and careful. “I heard something… about Connor and Katie.”
Y/N’s heart had dropped into her stomach, a slow, sickening spiral. She didn’t want to hear it. Didn’t want to know. But she had to.
“They’ve been hanging out a lot,” Inez continued, biting her lip as if she didn’t want to say more. “But… I heard they’ve been doing more than just being friends.”
Those words shattered her.
She had confronted Connor later that night. She’d stood in front of him, arms crossed over her chest, trying to steady her shaking hands as she asked him, point-blank, “Are you seeing Katie?”
His eyes had gone wide, his mouth falling open in shock. “What? No! Y/N, what are you talking about?”
“Don’t lie to me, Connor,” she had whispered, her voice breaking. “Please.”
He had stepped forward, reaching for her, but she had flinched away. “Y/N, I promise, it’s not like that. Katie and I—she’s just a friend. That’s it. I would never—”
But she had heard enough. The late nights, the missed calls, the way his attention had drifted—it all added up. She couldn’t shake the feeling that he was doing with Katie what he used to do with her. The way he looked at her, the way he seemed to care more about spending time with Katie than being with Y/N… it was too much. She couldn’t pretend anymore. Couldn’t keep ignoring the pit in her stomach, the ache in her chest every time she thought about them together.
So she had broken up with him.
“I can’t do this anymore, Connor,” she had said, her voice shaking, barely above a whisper. “I can’t keep pretending that you’re mine when it feels like you’re someone else’s.”
He had looked at her like she’d just stabbed him in the heart, his eyes filled with desperation. “Y/N, no. Please, don’t do this. I love you.”
But love wasn’t enough. Not when she felt like she was competing with someone else for his attention. Not when every time she looked at him, all she could see was the way he smiled at Katie.
“I’m sorry,” she had whispered, tears burning in her eyes. “I’m so sorry.”
And then she had walked away, leaving him standing there, his hands hanging limp at his sides, his face a mixture of shock and devastation. It had torn her apart, but what else could she do? She couldn’t live with the constant doubt, the constant fear that she wasn’t enough, that someone else had taken her place in his heart.
Now, standing in the middle of the party, watching him with Katie, that hollow feeling in her chest only grew. She felt like an old cardigan, one he had worn out, left behind, only to pick up again when the thrill of something new had expired. She knew he’d come back. He always did, didn’t he? He’d show up on her front porch under the light, looking regretful, apologizing, promising he’d be better. And maybe, for a while, he would be. But it would always end the same.
She knew this because Connor was the kind of boy who lingered like a tattooed kiss. Even when you thought you’d moved on, he left his mark, haunting your thoughts, your memories, your “what-ifs.” His smell would cling to your clothes, his laughter would echo in your mind, and no matter how much time passed, he’d always be there, a ghost of the boy you once loved.
Y/N glanced at the door. She could leave now. Slip out, change into one of his old tees, crawl under her blankets, and let the silence of her room envelop her. But she stayed. She stayed because some part of her—some small, foolish part—was still waiting for him to notice. For him to look across the room, see her standing there, and realize what he was losing.
But he didn’t. His attention stayed on Katie.
She turned away, swallowing the lump in her throat, and made her way to the kitchen, needing to put some distance between herself and the sight of him with her.
As she stood by the counter, staring blankly at the red solo cup in her hand, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out, her heart skipping a beat when she saw his name on the screen.
Connor: Can we talk? Please?
Her thumb hovered over the screen, her heart warring with her mind. She knew what would happen if she replied. He’d apologize. He’d tell her he made a mistake, that he missed her, that things would be different this time. And she’d believe him. She always did.
But then what? A few months down the road, they’d be right back here. She’d be standing at another party, feeling alone, while he laughed with someone else. She couldn’t do it anymore. She couldn’t keep letting him in, only to watch him drift away.
Her eyes burned with unshed tears as she typed out a response.
Y/N: There’s nothing left to say, Connor. It’s over.
She hit send before she could change her mind, and then she slipped her phone back into her pocket, ignoring the way her chest tightened at the thought of him reading her message.
The night felt colder, the noise around her more distant. She was alone, really alone now. But maybe that was what she needed. Maybe, for the first time in months, she could start figuring out who she was without him.
As she left the party, the cool night air hit her like a wave, and she breathed it in, letting it wash over her. She didn’t know what tomorrow would bring, or the day after that, but for now, she was free.
And that was enough.

18+ only pls
🤍🩵🤍💜🤍
Your relationship with your High Lord and Lady was… fast paced, to say the least.
You had met one night, dancing your worries away at Rita’s, instead of pouring the drinks, a rarity for you on a Friday night.
You’d had your arms above your head while you swayed to the beat, eyes closed and listening to the music when a pair of slender hands rested themselves on your waist, a warm body pulling up behind you.
Opening your eyes, you were face to face with the most handsome High Lord, possibly the most handsome male you had ever laid eyes on. His violet eyes sparkled with mischief, especially once the hands resting on your waist began to trail upwards, his eyes tracking their path as they made their way to rest just underneath your breasts, teasing the exposed skin there.
If you had to venture a guess, you believed it was your High Lady behind you, her fingers playing along the edge of your tiny, tiny shirt.
“Having a good night, sweetheart?” A sultry voice asked in your ear, lips close enough you could feel her warm breath. A delightful shiver raced down your spine, and if your High Lord’s eyes were any indicator, they had both noticed.
You turned in the female’s arms, putting your High Lord to your back, an opportunity that he didn’t waste as he closed in the space, his own hands resting on your hips now.
It was your High Lady, as beautiful and breathtaking as ever. Her blue eyes sparkled in delight when your arms came to loop around her neck.
“I am now,” you said coyly, grinning up at her.
“Hmm…” Your High Lord hummed against your neck, lips already ghosting over your pulse point, greedily scenting you. “I could say the same, couldn’t you, Feyre?”
“Definitely, Rhys,” Feyre sighed happily, and leaned forward slowly, eyes locked on your lips.
You closed the distance, the alcohol in your system making you bold- after all, this was your mated High Lord and Lady, never in a million years did you think they would be interested in you. It was rare enough to be mated, even rarer for said couple to be open to added partners outside of the bond.
Her lips were so, so soft, and the way her hands tightened on your sides had you deepening the kiss, tongues beginning to dance with each other.
Rhys’s hands slowly moved, coming to rest over the swell of your ass and squeezing gently before returning to your hips. His mouth, though…
His mouth had already sucked a couple of dark marks along the expanse of your neck, claiming you as theirs for the night.
Feyre broke away from you, breathing heavily as she took in your flushed face with lust drunk eyes.
“Want to make this night even better?” Feyre offered in a breathy voice, and that alone was enough to convince you.
“Yes,” you breathed, eyes already stuck on her lips again.
That was all your High Lord needed to winnow the three of you away, straight into an attractively furnished bedroom.
🤍🩵🤍💜🤍
The next morning, you awoke, tucked between two warm bodies, their arms wrapped over you and your legs intertwined.
You attempted to free yourself quickly and quietly, but their arms around you were like a vice, and you couldn’t seem to get your legs free.
“Mm, good morning,” Rhys said into your ear, his voice thick with sleep. He was at your back, and obviously aroused, if his hardness pressing into your back was anything to go by.
Your cheeks flamed, you had hoped to be gone before you were kicked out, but it was too late now.
“Good morning,” you whispered, attempting to not wake the High Lady, still sleeping peacefully in front of you.
Rhys nuzzled into your neck, placing a soft kiss just under your ear. “Were you trying to leave?”
Your cheeks reddened even further- now you had been caught attempting to leave before they woke.
“Yes…”
“Feyre,” he said, more loudly than before. “Feyre, our little lynx was trying to leave before we woke up.”
Feyre’s eyes flew open, and her lips automatically fell into a pout. “Why would you do that, little lynx?” She asked, a hand coming up to caress your face. “Did you not have a good night?”
The sadness in her eyes had you instantly replying, “No, no, I just… thought you might want me to leave before the morning.”
“And why would we want that, sweetheart?” Rhys asked, running one of his hands along your side soothingly. “I know that I had a wonderful night with you.”
“And I did too,” Feyre hummed in agreement, her thumb smoothing across your cheek bone. Your eyes fluttered shut, their soft touch so, so nice.
“I did too,” you admitted quietly.
“So what’s the problem, little lynx?” Feyre asked, tapping on your cheek to get your eyes to open.
You bit your lip as you took in what they’d said. “There isn’t one, I suppose…”
Feyre smiled brightly, leaning in for a gentle kiss. “Have breakfast with us then?” She asked hopefully, that same sparkle from last night in her eyes.
You couldn’t help but smile back, answering, “Yes, I’d love that.”
“I’ll get to cooking,” Rhys said, but turned your head to him for a soft kiss of his own before throwing the covers off of himself, standing tall with pride as your eyes greedily took in his naked form. He smirked playfully at you before going to their wardrobe and throwing on a pair of sweatpants and a shirt, then left their bedroom.
Feyre’s soft hand on your waist got you to turn back around, facing the beautiful female in front of you. “Did you want some different clothes to wear?” She asked, hand tracing a pattern on your skin.
“Yes, that would be nice, Feyre…” you trailed off.
Fuck it, you thought, and snuggled further into Feyre’s embrace. Her arms tightened around you, and you sighed contentedly as your face rested just above her breasts, head tucked beneath her chin.
“Can we stay here for a little bit?” You asked quietly, shy even though the two of you had been so intimate last night.
“Of course, little lynx,” Feyre assured softly, one of her hands running up and down your back slowly.
The two of you had almost fallen asleep again when Rhys came back into the room, chuckling when he saw the two of you wrapped in each other.
“Come on, ladies,” he said amusedly, slowly peeling the blankets off of both of you, making you both whine at the loss of heat. He sighed before replacing the blanket. “Breakfast in bed?”
“Yes, please, Rhysie,” Feyre answered, pressing a sleepy kiss to your head.
“Thank you,” you said, your words muffled by Feyre’s skin.
Rhys returned a few minutes later with two breakfast trays, and you and Feyre finally had to sit up against the headboard. He placed a tray over both of you, and grabbed two extremely soft shirts, handing one to each of you before leaving to grab his own food.
You blushed and thanked him, sliding the shirt over your head and taking in the breakfast he had made.
Chocolate chip pancakes, little sausages, and orange slices, as well as a mug of tea.
“Thank you for breakfast,” you said once he returned to the room, quickly sliding under the covers and placing his own tray over his legs. Feyre hummed in agreement, a bite of pancake already in her mouth.
“Of course, little lynx. We don’t want you to leave hungry, after all,” he replied, smiling at you.
“In fact…” Feyre began. “We don’t want you to leave at all."
Your breath caught in your throat, taken aback by such a quick suggestion.
“No, no, I’m sorry,” Feyre laughed, a gentle hand on your back. “I meant, we would like to continue… this. Date, even,” Feyre suggested.
“Oh,” you said nervously, a hand rubbing the back of your neck. “I, uhm… I think I’d like that.”
“Good, we’d like it too,” Rhys said sincerely. “Now, eat up little lynx.”
You did as he said, comforted by the fact that the two of them liked you enough to want to date you. The High Lord and Lady. Date you.
“Now now, none of that sweetheart,” Feyre said in a slightly disapproving tone.
“What?” You asked, eyes wide as you looked at her.
“Shit. I’m so sorry, love, I accidentally used my daemati powers,” Feyre apologized, her head in her hands. Your cheeks flamed, she had heard that?
“We’ll get your mental shields strong enough that we can’t even break in, don’t worry sweetheart,” Rhys reassured you. “And we will be very, very careful to stay out of your mind, okay?”
“Okay,” you agreed. Having your mental shields trained would be good, anyways. “And it’s okay, Feyre, you didn’t mean to.” You comforted her with a soft kiss on the cheek.
“Thank you, little lynx. I will be so careful, I promise.”
You smiled brightly at her, then turned back to your food.
“These pancakes are really tasty Rhys.”
🤍🩵🤍💜🤍
That night, you had a shift at Rita’s, thankfully with your best friend, Taylor. You needed to tell her about last night.
So you did.
And she happily listened, up until the part where they’d asked you to date them.
“Really?” She asked incredulously. “Are you sure they wanted to date you?”
“Yes, they made it very clear, Tay. Is it… really that crazy to believe?”
Taylor shook her head and giggled. “No, no, it’s just that I thought they might have meant it in a ‘let’s be fuck friends’ kind of way. But it’s good to know that it’s romance they want!”
You nodded your head in agreement, but a small seed of doubt had already planted itself in your gut. “Yeah, it is.”
🤍🩵🤍💜🤍
For your first date, Rhys and Feyre took you out to Sevenda’s- they even rented the whole restaurant for the night, so you would be as comfortable as possible. It was absolutely perfect, the food was delicious and you found that you really did get along with the pair. You were able to banter with them, and make little jokes here and there, like you had known them for a long time, not a week. You loved art like Feyre did, seeing beauty in every corner of the world- you worked with pottery, she worked with paints. Rhys had the same love of the stars and planets as you did, both of you were able to lose yourselves in a conversation about the various constellations and planets that had been discovered so far.
And, of course, the three of you got along very well physically.
Something about the sex you had with them was just… magical. Right. Like all of the other times you’d had sex before were the warm up for being with the both of them, absolutely losing yourself in the giving and receiving of pleasure.
The next shift that you had with Taylor, you gushed about the date, how perfectly it had gone, and how you had a group date and two individual dates set up with the two of them in the next week.
“I feel so lucky, Tay. Like all of the hardships in my life happened to lead me to this moment, this relationship,” you rambled, before realizing you had been talking about them for almost the entirety of your break.
“I’m happy for you, Y/N,” Taylor said, smiling brightly at you.
You returned the expression. “Thank you, Tay. Well, we should probably get back to work.”
🤍🩵🤍💜🤍
Two months later, you were convinced you were in love.
Your High Lord and Lady had become Rhys and Feyre, who had become your Bat and Star.
You had never truly gotten over how beautifully Feyre shined when she climaxed, and you never expected to.
Rhys had told you he felt the same when you floated the thought his way one night, both of you looking down at Feyre shining, just for the two of you, with so much love in your eyes.
“I just love them so much, Taylor. I can’t… I don’t think I can keep myself from saying it much longer,” you confessed, wringing your hands together as the two of you stood in the alleyway behind Rita’s.
“But, maybe you aren’t saying it for a reason…?” Taylor suggested. “I mean, they are mated… How could you compare?” She asked innocently, horror crossing her face when she met your eyes. “Oh, Y/N, you know I didn’t mean it like that.”
Tears pricked at your eyes anyways, knowing that she was right. “I know, I know how you meant it. It just… hurts to be reminded of that sometimes.”
Taylor sighed as she looked at you, a little bit of pity in her eyes. “I’ll cover the bar for ten more minutes, take a little time, okay Y/N?” She suggested gently, patting your arm.
You nodded. “Thank you, Tay. I’ll see you in a few.”
She knocked on the back door, the security guard opening it for her and letting her back inside.
Once the door had shut, you placed your head in your hands. Taylor was right, they are mated.
That didn’t mean they couldn’t love you, though.
With that thought in mind, you wiped the corners of your eyes, clearing any lingering tears, then closed your eyes and took a few deep, steadying breaths before knocking on the door yourself, returning to your spot behind the bar.
🤍🩵🤍💜🤍
“Move in with us.”
“I- what?”
“Move in with us.” Feyre said it, this time.
“Three months is a little… fast to move in…?”
Rhys chuckled lightly. “I told you she’d say that, Fey.”
Feyre shook her head. “You can move in here and keep your apartment until you’re sure you want to stay with us, if that’s what you’re worried about little lynx.”
“Hm… okay. Yes, I’ll move in with you,” you confirmed, and Rhys picked you up and spun you around, and once he’d set you down, Feyre wrapped her arms tightly around you and began peppering kisses all over your face, only stopping once you were giggling and lightly pushing her away from you.
🤍🩵🤍💜🤍
It had been a month since you had moved in, and you had no doubts in your mind that this was where you wanted to be.
The night you moved in, you cooked a meal for the two of them, and confessed your love to the both of them.
They had not returned the words, but their actions and promise that they were well on the way comforted you just the same.
Taylor, however, seemed to think differently.
“That’s what people say when they know they don’t love you, Y/N. Don’t you think they feel obligated to say that to you? I mean, they did offer for you to move in… it would be pretty cruel of them to ask you to move out so quickly.”
Your heart sank into your stomach, doubt and shame and embarrassment washing over you in crashing waves. If Taylor didn’t think it was working…
“But… we spend so much time together,” you started.
“Because you’re always around them,” Taylor countered, giving you a pointed look. “Try spending less time together, and if they seek you out, then they actually like you. If they don’t… I’m sorry, but I would start moving my things back into my apartment, if I were you,” Taylor said sadly, patting you on the back as tears streaked down your face.
She went back into Rita’s, leaving you crying in the alleyway behind the bar.
She’s right. I should pull away some, and see if they follow.
So you did. Over the next week, you spent more time in the pottery studio than you had in the past month, throwing yourself into making a beautiful vase, detailed with the constellations you saw every night, gazing at the stars with your lovers.
Just thinking of them when they weren’t in the room made tears well in your eyes.
You had stopped spending so much time during the day in Rhys’s study as he worked, after all, he had only asked you to join him on a few occasions- you were the one who had made it a near daily ritual.
Your evenings before work were, of course, spent at the pottery studio instead of Feyre’s studio, giving her some much needed air, clean of your presence.
You heart broke every night, returning to their townhome- because, after all, it was their townhome, not all of yours.
If they had noticed you retreating, they hadn’t said anything. Hadn’t noticed a single time you had pulled away from them, spent less time with them.
Every night that you warmed their bed, you felt a piece of yourself die inside.
🤍🩵🤍💜🤍
“If you’re that miserable with them, Y/N, maybe you should break up with them,” Taylor suggested, her annoyance evident. “I’m getting tired of listening to you whine about how little they notice you.”
“Hey,” you said, tears welling in your eyes- a near constant for you, after the past two weeks.
Taylor sighed. “I’m sorry, that was rude. But honestly, Y/N. It hurts for me to see you like this almost every night.”
“I know, I’m sorry Tay. You shouldn’t have to deal with this,” you sniffled, wiping at your teary eyes.
“Just… get ready to work again, break is almost up, okay?”
You nodded, even though she couldn’t see, already having knocked on the door and facing away from you. You let yourself sniffle for a couple more minutes before heading back inside.
Feyre and Rhys had entered the bar while you were away, already having stuck up a conversation with Taylor.
She’s cuter than you, maybe they’re bored of you and moving on to someone better, your brain hissed at you, and you felt like you were going to be sick.
You rushed over to your manager before the two of them could spot you, and begged “Can I please go home early? I feel like I’m going to hurl all over the place.”
Your manager looked you up and down, and took in your teary eyes and a hand covering your stomach. “Get home safe, girl,” she said, opening the back door for you.
“Thank you, I will.”
You rushed back home- your home, not the one you had been sharing with Rhys and Feyre. When you reached your door, your threw it open and slammed it behind you, sliding down against it and collapsing into yourself, sobbing pathetically.
You couldn’t do this anymore.
Taylor was right, you needed to break things off- but you didn’t think you could bear to do it, not with them in front of you.
After some time had passed- an hour, maybe two- you managed to drag yourself into your bedroom.
You hadn’t realized how barren it looked in here, without all of your clothes and favorite blankets.
It was empty, just as your hopes for a future with your perfect Bat and Star felt.
You cried yourself to sleep, hugging your knees tightly to your chest as you felt your world break apart.
🤍🩵🤍💜🤍
The next morning, you were more exhausted than when you went to bed.
You had slept like utter shit that night, tossing and turning and crying.
You had shed so many tears, the Sidra probably had a new tributary by now.
Nothing made you feel better, not the bath that you forced yourself into, or the tea you made for yourself.
You were sitting on your couch in the living room, wrapped in a green blanket- your least favorite one, but the purple and blue ones that you liked so much more reminded you so strongly of your lovers’ eyes that you couldn’t stand to look at them.
Tears were still streaming down your cheeks when a knock came at your door- patient but firm.
You stayed where you were, unable to move, let alone walk to the door.
Another knock, this time a bit more impatient.
Still, you didn’t move.
Another, almost… frantic?
Another, hard, nearly shaking the door in its frame.
You still couldn’t move.
“Y/N? Are you in there?” Came Feyre’s soft voice, tinged with worry.
You said nothing, hardly even breathed as tears continued to carve a permanent path through your skin.
“Y/N, I can hear your heartbeat, just let us in, please?” Rhys asked, his voice more demanding than Feyre’s but filled with panic.
You couldn’t move, not one muscle.
One more clearly frantic knock, before someone- Rhys- tapped on your mental shields.
He had spoken the truth, that you would be able to keep them out. You kept them out now, terrified to know what they were going to say.
“Please, little lynx, just let me in, we're worried about you,” Rhys begged into your mind.
And that broke you. Your walls collapsed, and Rhys entered carefully, his presence wrapping around your mind as he did.
“Oh, little lynx,” Rhys cooed, his arms wrapping around you as Feyre came to sit behind you pulling you into her arms. “None of those thoughts are true, my love.”
They had winnowed in.
They were worried about you enough- cared enough- to winnow into your home to check on you.
You sobbed, collapsing back into Feyre as your arms wiggled out of the blanket and pulled Rhys towards you, burying your face in his chest.
You cried for- you weren’t even sure, it had been so long.
But Feyre and Rhys stayed, physically and mentally wrapped around you the entire time, whispering sweet nothings and reassurances in your ear, in your mind.
Eventually, you quieted down, and your tears dried. It was only then that you let yourself pull away from Rhys’s solid, comforting chest and look them both in the eyes, mortified at your behavior.
“I’m so sorry,” you apologized, wiping at your eyes.
“What are you sorry for, little lynx?” Feyre asked, pushing your hair back from your face gently.
“For- for being such a big baby,” you said, more tears, somehow, welling in your eyes.
“Oh, sweetheart. You have nothing to apologize for. That snake however…” Rhys hissed, and it was then that you remembered they had been in your mind, seeing every horrid interaction and thought you’d had in the past two weeks.
“Taylor was just trying to help me,” you explained, sure that your friend had done no wrong.
“No she wasn’t, little lynx,” Feyre sighed. “When you told us you loved us, how did you feel afterwards, when we told you we just needed a little more time?”
You thought back to it- “Happy. I was so, so happy.”
“And after you talked with… Taylor?” Rhys asked.
Your face scrunched. “Like… like you guys had lied to me…” you confessed, so ashamed that you had ever felt that way about them.
“And were there other times that she tried to dull your happiness?”
You sniffled as you nodded.
She… Taylor, your own friend… had betrayed you.
“I’m so sorry, darling,” Rhys said, kissing your forehead gently. “I wish it wasn’t true.”
“I… I need to talk to her. Will you come with me?” You asked shyly, peering up at the both of them through your lashes.
“Of course we will, little lynx,” Feyre agreed, already helping unravel the rest of your body from the blanket.
Once you were free, you stood up, surprised at how much their kind, reassuring words had helped lighten your fears.
“Before we go…” Rhys started.
“We… well, we had been trying to plan a special night to tell you, but…”
“I love you,” the two of them said in unison.
And just like that, your heart was soaring.
Tears streamed down your face, but these ones were happy, and you pushed yourself into their embrace, one arm around each of them. “I love you too,” you mumbled in a watery voice, making both of them laugh softly.
“We know, little lynx. And we will spend so, so long proving it to you, whenever you need us to,” Feyre promised, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
“In or out of the bedroom,” Rhys added with a smile, pressing his own lips to yours. “Now, let’s go teach that little snake a lesson.”
“Rhysand,” Feyre warned, smacking him on the arm. “You will let Y/N say what she wants, and then if she feels it’s appropriate, you can scare the shit out of her.”
Rhys made a pouty face, and you couldn’t help but giggle. “If you don’t get to scare her, I’ll make you whatever food you want for dinner tomorrow night.”
His frown turned to a bright smile. “Sounds good, little lynx. You know it’ll be soup you make, right?”
You merely shook you merely shook your head at him. Of course you knew, it was his absolute favorite dish you made. And you wouldn’t tell him now, but you’d be making it either way.
You loved the soup too, after all.
The three of you made your way to Taylor’s apartment quickly, your blood filled with rage at the way she had manipulated you. And for what?
You made Rhys and Feyre stand at the end of the alley while you knocked on her door, wanting to have this conversation as privately as you could.
The door swung open, revealing a well rested Taylor.
“Wow, you look like hell,” Taylor greeted, opening the door wider and letting you inside.
“Thanks…” You said, disappointed in your friend already.
“Did you break up with them?” Taylor asked once she had shut the door.
“No.”
“Why not?” Taylor asked angrily. “They hardly pay you any attention at all, why would you stick around to be with them for hardly anything?”
“Why do you care so much that I break up with them, Taylor?” You asked venomously, done with her insulting your lovers.
“Because, they’re hurting you!”
“No, they aren’t Taylor. You know who has made this relationship so rocky? You,” you spat at her.
“Because you don’t deserve them!” Taylor shouted at you. “I deserve them, not some stupid little twit like you!”
Your eyes widened, and you shook your head. “I cannot believe you,” you scoffed. “You did all this because you were jealous of me?! Do you have any idea of how fucked up that is?!”
“It’s not fucked up if the person you’re doing it to is a skank,” Taylor spat.
And you slapped her.
Hard.
Hard enough to whip her head to the side, redness blooming on her skin.
“Don’t speak to me, ever.”
And with that, you turned on your heel and left her apartment, slamming the door behind you.
“I’m scaring her,” Rhys declared when you reached them. “No one can talk to you that way.”
“I know, Rhys. That’s why I slapped her. But feel free to scare her anyways, bitch deserves it. Just scare,” you said, pushing your body into Feyre’s arms and relaxing in her firm hold.
“Understood, love.”
A scream came from the direction of Taylor’s apartment.
“Every time she looks in the mirror, she sees a shadowy figure behind her,” Rhys explained, laughing to himself. “If she looks too close it starts to get disturbing features, too.”
Feyre shook her head, clearly disapproving, but also amused.
“Just make it stop in a month or two, okay my bat?” You asked him, a hand on his arm.
He turned to look at you, a grin spreading over his lips. “Of course, little lynx. Whatever you want.”
“… Whatever I want?” You asked, grinning up at him.
“Anything at all,” Feyre whispered lowly in your ear.
“Can we… go home?”
In an instant, the three of you were back in your bedroom. The only one you needed, from now on.
“Bath?” You asked next, and the two of them began stripping you of your clothes in an instant, making you giggle at them. “All of us?”
“Of course, sweetheart, we just wanted to get you ready first,” Feyre said, pressing soft kisses to your neck.
“We have so much to make up for, including us letting you pull away, darling. You may just be stuck in this room with us until dinner tomorrow night,” Rhys teased as he rid himself of his pesky clothing, turning to Feyre next, who reluctantly gave up her spot sucking on your neck to let him undress her.
“Good, I’ll accept nothing less,” you said, giggling when Rhys hoisted you into his arms and speed walked into the bathroom, where the tub was already filled with steaming water. He gently set you in, before climbing in himself, followed by Feyre.
“Let’s start with getting you squeaky clean, and free of all those sad, sad thoughts, only filled with how much we love you,” Feyre crooned into your ear as she slowly lowered you so you were mostly covered by the water, in between the two of them.
“That sounds perfect, my sweet star,” you sighed, relaxing into their caring hold, feeling safe for the first time in two weeks.

Sakusa Kiyoomi doesn't know what's wrong with him.
You've been near him all night, dizzyingly within reach and yet, Sakusa knows it is not his place to reach out. You're wearing that perfume—the one he gave you one Christmas years ago, at a time when everything was better and he didn't have conflicting feelings about you.
God, he hates feelings.
He wonders if you remember—he hopes you remember—because he remembers having to call Komori’s sister for advice on which scent to choose. He remembers your smile as you sprayed some on your wrist and brought it up to your face to sniff. He remembers you wearing it that night—the night he was so stupid that he let it all go.
But none of that matters anymore, because last Christmas he didn't get you anything, and he hasn't been close enough to you to know whether you still wore the perfume or not.
Until now.
He's sobered up enough to be a little more aware of you helping him up the stairs to your apartment and to be a little panicked because why did he tell you he was fine with spending the night?
You're kind, letting him stay because he's too alcoholically impaired—despite everything he's ever done to you. You just don't want to be driving in a storm, he tries to reason. It's your job to take care of him. But it's not; it hasn't been in a long time since you stopped being a manager for MSBY, something which Sakusa would know better than anyone if he had been a bit sounder of mind.
Once inside, you somehow manage to wrestle off his shoes and lead him to the kitchen. It's an unfamiliar kitchen, one with white tiles that Sakusa would have complained against. There’s a faint smell of lemons, and he thinks briefly of dancing and your laughter—a memory, or perhaps just his imagination.
“Stay here, alright?” you say quietly, accommodating to his current sensitive hearing levels. You set him down at the table, leaving to get him a towel, he supposes.
Your apartment is small—cozy, he supposes. The right amount of space for a single person. A sense of relief rushes through him at the observation and he lets out a satisfied hum.
(He chooses to ignore the fact that he has no right to be happy over your lack of a roommate.)
“Here, I think this will fit you,” the door thumps as you close it behind you, already changed out of your wet clothes. In your arms are a towel and what he assumes to be dry clothing for him. Your fingers burn wherever they come in contact with his skin as you help him take his shirt off and he shudders, hoping you’ll assume he's just cold from the rain.
Sakusa feels self-conscious—how long has it been since you've been intimate like this? Since you've been near him like this?
The shirt you provide fits perfectly, and Sakusa is too busy at first relishing in the familiar scent of your favorite laundry detergent (one you had stopped buying when he was around because the other one cleans better, he’d argued) to wonder why you have a men's size shirt in your apartment.
You're drying his hair when the question finally crosses his mind and he tenses. Your movements come to a stop, and you lean forward curiously. “What's wrong?” you ask, voice right by his ear, and Sakusa shivers.
He's drunk, and he misses you—he misses you like he never thought he would and it's all his fault for being a grand, stupid idiot.
But a grand, stupid idiot is what he is now as the alcohol rushes through his system, so when he says, “I'm fine,” and you insist again, he turns to ask you, “Who's shirt is this?”
This time, you tense up, gaze becoming unreadable. You stand up straight, resuming your previous motions, though much more stiff than before. “What does it matter to you, Sakusa?” your voice is clipped, and his heart clenches at the way you say his name. “You are nothing to me to be asking that question.”
He has nothing to say to that because you’re right and he regrets it—regrets asking, regrets agreeing to come with you, regrets getting drunk in the first place; but most of all, he regrets letting you go.
So, Sakusa cries.
The tears fall one by one, fat and warm as they slide down his face, then eventually he's fully weeping: hands clenched into fists on his lap and hunched over in an attempt to conceal the way he cannot control his emotions.
You're stunned, he can feel your startled gaze burning into him as a loud whimper claws its way out of his throat.
He sits up—burying his face in his hands as his body shakes violently with each sob. You’ve repositioned yourself in front of him and you’re hugging him, but he can barely register it over how much he hates himself right now. It's a disgusting feeling bubbling in his chest—a self-loathing that he's managed to suppress all these years you've been gone.
Because he's the only one to blame for you leaving.
So he takes advantage of the fact that you're here now—you're here with him—and he buries himself into you, trying to engrave anything his memory might have missed before you let him go and he has to lose you again.
“I miss you,” he sobs, “I miss you so much.” The circles you're tracing on his back pause for a moment, almost imperceptible, but he feels it and you sigh shakily.
“Sakusa,” you say. It's only his name, but it feels like a warning, and Sakusa might actually lose his mind if you ever finish your statement.
“No, please,” he begs, “I'm an idiot.”
A rueful giggle bursts through your lips, and as he glances up at you, he notices you're starting to cry too. His hand cups your face, thumb brushing away a stray tear, and you bite your lip. You seem to debate it in your head, but whatever voice of reason usually reigns seems to huff in defeat, because you lean into his touch with another sigh, eyes squeezing shut.
“I'm sorry,” he says, and it feels like salvation.
“You're an asshole,” you giggle tearfully again. “You broke my heart, you know that?”
“I know,” Sakusa’s reply is quick. “I know.”
His forehead rests on yours, angling his face so your noses brush against each other, your lips so near—the nearest they've been in too many years.
And he cannot wait any longer.
It's hesitant, really only the whisper of a kiss as his fear pounds through his body, but you respond, pushing back against him with more force. You throw your arms around his neck, not breaking the kiss as you position yourself on his lap. He groans at the sudden weight, pulling away and tilting his head back, and you take the opportunity to place soft kisses on his jaw and neck. Your hands cling to his shirt as you make your way back to his lips, both breathless and shuddering at the sudden overdose of each other.
“It's yours,” you whisper, leaning back, refusing to meet his eyes. “The shirt. It's yours. You left it and I…” This time you do look up at him. “I couldn't bring myself to give it back.
Sakusa thinks you've never looked more beautiful than you do now, perched on his lap with your hair still wet from the rain, a towel on your shoulders, and hands fiddling nervously as you peer up at him, lips bright and red—all because of him, and only him. So Sakusa leans in to kiss you again, because what does it matter whose shirt it is anyway, when he's the one here that you're kissing?
“How are you feeling?” you ask softly as he pulls away. “Is your head still hurting?”
He just hums as you hold his face in your hands. “I'm fine.”
You laugh—a proper, full, heavenly laugh that Sakusa swears could beat any symphony or concerto in the world in terms of sonic beauty. “Liar,” you accuse through chortles, “Look at you, sopping wet all over my chair and floor and drunk out of your mind—I don't think you're fine at all.”
He smiles, pulling you into a hug, more sure than he's ever been when he says, “This time, it's true.”
