Branches twice - both start with hooking up with Minthara then starting a romance with Astarion. Sativa 1.0 stays with Astarion, Sativa 2.0 offers Astarion to Araj, sleeps with him, and they break up, before romancing Minthara. Sativa 1.1 and Sativa 2.1 reject Bhaal and destroy the Brain, Sativa 1.2 and Sativa 2.2 become Chosen of Bhaal and claim the Brain in his name, with all characters ending up thralls.

Custom Tav 2: Sascha Vykos, aasimar and unintended enabler of chaos. Romancing Gale, God end. That's God end, not good end. This is... definitely not a good end.

Custom Tav 3: Etavia. Tiefling Cleric of Selûne, full Enemies to Lovers romance with Shadowheart. Probably a fairly standard 'good' run.

Astarion 1: Romances Gale. Respeccing from Thief to Arcane Trickster after 'channelling the Weave' scene. Soft 'they can fix each other' run.

Astarion 2: Defying devils and diabolists to fall in love instead (Karlach and Wyll). Will end in tragedy because Karlach always dies in a spawn Astarion run, and also Gale is going to sacrifice himself ;_;

Astarion 3: T A D P O L E T I M E . The gods never saved you - the mind flayers did. Siding with (and romancing) the Emperor, using illithid powers and the astral-touched tadpole, and Ascending. Taking over the Netherbrain alongside the Emperor, all others ending up thralls.

Astarion 4: Romances Halsin. Multiclassing into Druid for wildshape shenanigans. Become d i r t w i z a r d.

Karlach 1: Romancing Wyll and Astarion. This time, she lives! Finishes in Avernus with her lovers.

Karlach 2: Romancing Shadowheart and Lae'zel. Chooses to become illithid and ends up staying with her lovers in Faerûn.

Gale: Romancing Astarion. The one where they make each other better instead of making each other worse. Respeccing to Storm Sorcerer (but keep a level in Wizard for scroll learning).

Wyll: Romancing Karlach and Astarion. Finishes in Avernus with his lovers (hopefully). Multiclassing as Bardlock, because fancy dancer.

Shadowheart: Romances Karlach and Lae'zel. Chooses to keep her parents alive, but then has to choose to stay with Karlach, since she also encouraged Wyll to stay with Mizora to save his father...

Lae'zel: Romances Shadowheart and Karlach. Chooses to become illithid to save Orpheus from having to do so, then opts to kill herself rather than live as a mind flayer.

Unknown!: Everyone gets respecced! Origin run or Tav/Durge? If Tav/Durge, play Rogue or someone who learns Knock. Currently thinking: resist!Durge whose Dream Visitor looks like Alfira in an attempt to guilt trip them into doing what the Emperor wants. Arcane Trickster Rogue. Definitely more 'trickster' than straight-out evil, enjoyed causing a bit of chaos, which is very moderated by the brain surgery into the more harmless realm. Gnome? Gnome would be kind of fun. Romance or nah?

Almost Six Books Sunday

Hi, i’m around, just perpetually exhausted and still dealing with everything I previously shared. Which means I have not had the mental capacity to write! At all! Not even a little! But I have been reading because *escapism*

So I’m here to share five books I have recently enjoyed. They’re all m/m, most are a mind-the-trigger-warnings situation, and they have all kept me sane during times of e x t r e m e stress.

A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows.

Byzantine politics, lush sexual energy, and a queer love story that is by turns sweet and sultry, Foz Meadows' A Strange and Stubborn Endurance is an exploration of gender, identity, and self-worth. It is a book that will live in your heart long after you turn the last page.

And boy if that ain’t the truth. I LOVED Vel and Cae so much and world felt full and rich (even if the main political mystery element was kind of unnecessarily convoluted). Definitely mind the TW, but I enjoyed this book greatly and thought Vel’s growth in particular was well done.

To say I look forward to the second book is an understatement.

A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland

To prove his loyalty to the queen, his sister, Kadou takes responsibility for the investigation of a break-in at one of their guilds, with the help of his newly appointed bodyguard, the coldly handsome Evemer, who seems to tolerate him at best. In Arasht, where princes can touch-taste precious metals with their fingers and myth runs side by side with history, counterfeiting is heresy, and the conspiracy they discover could cripple the kingdom’s financial standing and bring about its ruin.

This book is delish. Yum yum yummy slow burn. Very character driven where (once again) the political mystery plot sort of takes a back seat to the more interesting relation developing. Kadou and Evemer have that sort of interdependency that I am weak for. WEAK I tell you.

Also the author wrote a fic for her own book and I love that for all of us.

Lord of Silver Ashes (Rowan Blood Book 2) by Kellen Graves

After two weeks in the attic of Danann House, Saffron anticipates the moment he can finally be reunited with Prince Cylvan--but that day is unexpectedly marred by a visit from Headmistress Elluin, who doesn't believe Saffron was the one to perform magic in Beantighe Village in the attempt to save Berry. Saffron will be expected to prove it; if he can't, every other human he loves will be arrested and executed for arid practice and conspiracy.

This book series is the type of thing that I could binge read forever. Is it ultra original? No. Are there TW galore? Definitely. Does our plucky mc have plot armor? The thickest. He should be dead like 10 times over, but is instead in a constant state of what must be agonizing pain from gruesome injuries he somehow just grits his teeth through.

And I love every fucking moment of this series. Saffron is BABY and his dumb high elf lover is ALSO BABY. I cannot wait for book 3.

Prince and Pawn (Perilous Courts Book 3) by Tavia Lark

Prince and Pawn is a high fantasy gay romance with hurt/comfort, forbidden pining, inappropriate use of vines, and more magic tigers. The Perilous Courts series is best read in order, but each book follows a different prince and his Happily Ever After.

I have read 4.5 of the planned 6 books in this series and I keep thinking “surely there’s no possible way I’ll enjoy this couple as much as the last.” And then I DO. EVERY. TIME. But Audric and Corin get special mention because their particular trope is one I’m extra weak to.

This series is really about the characters with the barest thread of a plot, but oh how yummy those characters are. I freaking churned through a book a day and then ended up on the author’s Patreon because I couldn’t get enough. BOOK 5 SOON!!!!!

Wolfsong (Green Creek Book 1) by TJ Klune

Wolfsong is the beginning of the Green Creek Series, the beloved fantasy romance sensation by New York Times bestselling author TJ Klune, about love, loyalty, betrayal, and family.

I will murder for this pack!!! Ox and Joe are just so very!!!!!!!! WEEPS!

Now does it take some wrapping your head around the whole “they were 10 and 16 and destined to be together”? Yes, yes it does, but I think this series does a good job of showing that love is not necessarily sexual—as good a job as it does showing family is not necessarily blood.

(I’m almost done with book 2, and Mark might be the ultimate babe.)

- zomcat is a very old cat plush that has the heart of a real cat sewn into it, thus giving it life. it was savory's experiment to see if he could create sentience from a inanimate object and to him it only half-worked

- zomcat's stuffing has very very small pieces of brain inside for whatever reason, giving it very basic intelligence,,, this is extremely realistic and recreatable science 👍🏿

- zomcat HATES cleaver pet (octavia's cleaver keychain) because it thinks that cleaver pet is trying to take its title of mascot. cleaver pet has a thimble sized brain and doesn't care in the slightest

- zomcat loves meat. it can eat literally anything (i like to think that its stomach is a pocket dimension or something) but it loves raw meat the most, though it can only eat it with ketchup added

- zomcat is a name given by octavia - savory insists on calling it by its experiment number (E-222) but tavia thinks zomcat is cuter.

- zomcat can play the drums

- zomcat can only die if its heart is pulled out - an even then it can be reanimated by sewing in a new one

- its birthday is christmas day and i want the actual comic to have a whole chapter dedicated to its backstory

- aaaaand its favorite human is octavia!

2021 Pretend Nominees

As a fun practice, I wanted to make a list of the books I’ve read that were released in 2021 and pretend they were the books nominated for the awards. Books read in November 2020:

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab - A thief and a magician from different worlds must defeat dark magic.

Not what I expected. Full of adventure and wit.

Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibañez  — Ximena is a decoy Condesa hiding away from the usurper, Atoc. When Atoc announces their marriage, Ximena sees the opportunity for revenge.

It’s a good take on colonization and right to rule. Love el Lobo, he’s fantastic.

Deathless Divide by Justina Ireland. Audiobook — Sequel to Dread Nation

There’s a lot more zombies and thirst from revenge from Jane. It’s not a warm and fuzzy book, it’s raw and painful and gratifying in the end.

Into the Drowning Deep by Mora Grant —  Scientists embark on a voyage to the Mariana trench looking for mermaids.

I loved how the book it’s set up, within the novel there’re a lot of skeptics  and enough believers but still when the mermaids show up is so much worse than any of the characters expected.

Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno Garcia — Set in 1920s Mexico, a girl accidentally unleashes a god of the dead and must help him in his quest to regain his place as ruler of Xibalba.

It feels like a very quiet book with a big premise. I love the characters, the quest, and the slow-burn romance.

The Duke Who Didn't by Courtney Milan — Historical romance set in a small, yet very diverse English town and the duke who frequents the annual competition in Hope's of ensnaring his childhood love.

Witty, fun and endearing

A Song Below Water by Bethany C Morrow — All sirens are Black and thought as dangerous. Tavia is a siren and she must keep her secret with the help of her sister Effie who begins to unravel and find her identity.

The fantasy elements provide a window into the Black Lives Matter movement. 

Full of secrets and petty enmity, it makes for an engaging book.

Ana on the Edge by A. J. Sass — Middlegrade. Ana is a figure skater questioning her gender after she meets a trans boy.

It’s a sweet book about a child discovering herself in an expensive sport with heteronormative expectations. It’s endearing and heartfelt.

Piranesi by Sasanna Clarke  —  Piranesi lives in a house full of hallways and statues, tides and clouds. Only one other person lives in the house with him and the coming arrival of a new person changes everything.

It’s a really  captivating book, Piranesi’s wonder at his world is so compelling, his compassion and endurance is startling to read. Honestly, I would have want revenge.

Ghost Squad by Claribel Ortega  — Middlegrade. Lucely and SId ad their cat Chunk must defeat evil ghosts to save their town.

I love it. It’s full of love and adventure, and clever ghost hunting gadgets

I (probably) won't be playing him until I finish Tae's run, but I've made my resist!Dark Urge, Tavias!

1/8 golden dragonborn (I think? I assume? How do Draconic Bloodline characters work, anyway?), 3/8 tiefling, 1/2 oh, you know. Will be using a lot of Fireball. Enjoys being pretty and causing (gentle) chaos and having friends and nOT MURDERING, URGES.

Currently trying to work out who he is, who he was, and if that's the same thing, getting this worm out of his head, maybe kissing the cute sad vampire elf, and not murdering people.

Will be dyeing those robes in a red-purple-gold scheme ASAP, of course. Can't save the world if you're not cute!

     fingers comb through her hair, shaking it out from the mess of a bun it’d been in the last two days. she hasn’t popped into the shower recently but today she was overdue. no, octavia’s been using the apartment like a revolving door. murphy’s. avoid work. the bars. avoid bellamy. the gym down the block. avoid clarke. avoid herself. shove the intrusive thoughts and memories down so far. repeat. sometimes she’ll sleep, most often not until clarke’s already left the comfort for work. then she’ll crash for days. unmoving. unwilling to communicate. not with bellamy. not with clarke. we need to talk. octavia’s about to strip. there’s a frown, hues glancing at clarke through the bathroom mirror. “this isn’t really the time...” octavia started. it’s never really the time.

      for a moment, octavia stands frozen. she’s not sure what she’s supposed to say. perhaps that’s the problem this time. she never has anything to say. isn’t ever really listening anymore either. while she stands in front of the mirror, clarke moves into the bathroom and that brings about the confusion in octavia’s features. she watches as her girlfriend walks over to the shower, turning it on, testing it until it’s just the right temperature. octavia turns then, not trying to hide the confusion. her girlfriend doesn’t look angry. doesn’t look like she’s going to start yelling any time soon. maybe that scares her the most. clarke just looks d o n e.

    octavia’s unsure what to do when clarke moves towards her, hands coming up to cup the girls face. it takes everything in octavia not to flinch as her girlfriend touches her. tries to remain here with her. there’s a soft kiss pressed to the corner of her mouth and then.... it’s like i’m living with a ghost.

   her breath catches in her throat. she deserves that. since her forced leave ( that’s what happens in the journalist world. held hostage. two months leave ) she’s been drinking too much. spending too much time with murphy. his view of the world it easier to be around. easier to manage while she’s unable to acclimatize back to home life. back to any sort of l i f e. how does she live when she feels like her s o u l is in another country in a dark and terrifying place?

   all her life she’s known just what to say to clarke. how to touch every bit of her heart. since childhood, she’s known clarke as if she was an extension of octavia but she doesn’t know how to put the pieces back together. doesn’t know if she ever could. “clarke---...” get in the shower tavia, just get in the shower.
