             “Figured you’d prefer a bit of MANHANDLING than being SHOT, is all,” Elias retorted, his tone short, his words clipped, as he shifted his weight so that he could peer out around the cover he’d pulled them both behind when the first shot had rung out.  “If I was wrong, please, feel free to let me know for next time,” he grumbled, his pistol already in hand and feeling WOEFULLY inadequate for the caliber and quantity of shots that had rung out in their direction.
