The above is the edited version, and the following is the original. The goal of this one was to create a dystopian feel while portraying the idea that we are so blinded by consumerism that we aren't seeing what is overtaking and killing us.

What did I learn? I learned how to better form my subject into the position that I had in my mind to be able to capture the image that I had in my mind.

Calgary Downtown In Winter Twilight by Dave Smith Via Flickr: This is another from the archives; taken before winter ended earlier in 2013, here you can see part of the amazing Calgary downtown core shot from the banks of the lovely Bow River, with snow and ice along the riverbanks and with beautiful magic hour light illuminating everything. This was taken about half an hour before sunset, from a path along Memorial Drive looking across the beautiful Bow River and into Princess Island Park, and the light was intense and amazing! The buildings looked so cool, and the trees and foliage along the river had such amazing colours going on, and, of course, their reflections in the water were a nice touch as well! Have an excellent weekend, my friends!

Week 11 - Photoshoot

Subjects: Zac, Niki - personal friends

Location: Underground parking lot, Silverdale Centre.

Equipment: DSLR Canon EOS60D Lens - 18-200mm

Lighting: Natural, Car Park Lighting, Car Headlights

What did I learn? I learned from this shoot how to position my subjects and guide them to pose in a way that I envisioned. I was able to discuss my plans with my models and better help them understand this photographic vision. I used the underground car park's roof lights as a main lighting source, in addition to my car's headlights, as they emit a very warm halogen light.

What was my aim? To show my audience through photography the idea of how consumerism is 'consuming us' and taking over. The paper bag is a prop used in my photographs to represent consumerism, but when placed over a subject's head, it is to symbolise how it is consuming our minds. I was aiming to show how we are so blinded and encapsulated by consumerism and the negative ideas around us, that we are not seeing the effects it is having on society.
