Y/N was bleeding heavy for two days first day started with going through pads every few hours which was her normal, the second day it was every 3ish hours and by the third day she woke up in early mid morning as Connor always lets her sleep in when her body misbehaves; she bleed through everything. The watch chimed and sent her vitals across every device they have that keeps track of her vitals. By the time she is able to get to the bathroom Connor is right behind her and he knows. She’s starting to hemorrhage. He has Charlie hit the second tablet that Connor installed on the bedroom wall. He is able to give some uterotonics and it holds enough before Ava and Hannah get there. Y/N is barely cohorent. They are able to scan her and see their is clots stuck. They are able to lay her down and do pressure. After they do suppository cytotec to keep her uterus firm. On top of suppository zofran even though they did IV to give her overlapping nausea med.

Y/N had soaked through an extra-long pad every few hours, but it wasn’t new. This was her body—on endometriosis, on PCOS, on years of chronic illness that made “normal” nothing but a memory. She sipped electrolyte water, took her meds, stayed curled on the couch with Charlie sprawled at her feet, and texted Connor when things felt particularly crampy. But by bedtime, she swore she was holding steady.
Day two was heavier, but manageable. Pads every three-ish hours. Still within her version of “normal.” But her heart rate had started to tick upward. Connor noted it. So did her watch. So did Charlie, who didn’t leave her side once.
But it was day three that broke everything.
The sun had just started to bleed gold over the edge of their bedroom window when Connor heard the chime.
One long tone.
Vitals crossing thresholds.
BP low. HR high. Oxygen steady—but trending.
The alert came from the bedroom tablet—one of two Connor had installed in the condo. One in the living room, one mounted beside the dresser in their room. A network of monitoring built slowly, deliberately, after too many emergencies. Too many what-ifs.
It took one glance at the vitals onscreen and Connor was already moving.
Y/N was barely sitting upright at the edge of the bed, legs pressed together like that might help, a trembling hand holding the edge of a pad between her knees. Her eyes were glassy.
“I—I woke up soaked through,” she whispered.
Connor was already crouching in front of her, gentle but fast. “Okay, love. I’ve got you. It’s alright. It’s alright. I need to see—can you stand?”
She nodded weakly, leaning heavily on his shoulder as he helped her toward the bathroom. As soon as she stepped into the tiled space, a stream of blood ran down her leg. She whimpered, her knees buckling. Connor caught her.
Charlie whined from the doorway.
“Charlie—hit it,” Connor said without looking. The dog trotted over to the mounted tablet by the door and pressed the marked square with his paw.
Second chime.
Red alert sent.
Ava and Hannah notified. ETA: 9 minutes.
Connor got her seated safely, gloved up, and moved into motion. He’d done this before—once, in the ICU. Twice at home.
He drew up the uterotonics first, delivering the emergency dose with steady hands. He couldn’t stop the bleeding—not fully—but he could slow it. He held pressure. He whispered to her the whole time.
“It’s okay. It’s okay, I’m with you. You’re not alone.”
She was only half-conscious, head tilted back against the cabinet behind her, cheeks pale, pulse fluttering at her wrist.
When Ava and Hannah burst through the door, bags already open, Connor was crouched beside her, still holding pressure, blood on his sleeves. He looked up and shook his head once.
“She’s hemorrhaging. Uterotonics slowed it, but we’re not out of the woods.”
“We’ve got it,” Ava said, kneeling at Y/N’s other side. “Connor—deep breath. We’re here now.”
Hannah prepped the portable scanner, gloves snapping. “Clots?”
“I think so,” Connor said. “I haven’t been able to do a scan. She’s too weak to move.”
“We’ll scan her right here,” Hannah said. “Connor, help me tilt her.”
They laid Y/N down gently, cushioning her head, keeping her warm, and began the ultrasound. The screen lit up in grainy greyscale.
“There.” Ava pointed. “That’s what’s keeping it going. Clots. Big ones.”
“Okay,” Hannah said calmly. “Connor, keep her settled. I’m doing pressure. Ava, get the suppository cytotec prepped.”
Connor braced Y/N while Hannah applied deep, firm pressure over her uterus. Y/N let out a soft cry but was too far gone to resist. Ava administered the cytotec suppository, then prepped another for Zofran—despite the IV dose earlier, they needed overlap. Her nausea was spiking with the pain and blood loss.
By the time they’d finished, Y/N had curled into herself again, shivering, but her vitals had started to stabilize.
Her pulse was still fast.
Her BP still low.
But they had pulled her body back from the brink.
Connor didn’t move from her side.
Ava washed the blood from her gloves. “We should consider IV iron next week. She’s going to be severely depleted.”
“She was borderline anemic already,” Hannah added softly. “We’ll draw labs in the morning. I’ll start a script.”
Connor nodded silently, brushing Y/N’s damp hair from her forehead. Her eyes fluttered open—barely.
“I hate this,” she whispered.
“I know, sweetheart,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to her temple. “But you’re not alone. You’ll never do this alone again.”

Deforestation in the Amazon was once thought to be out of control. However, recent rates indicate a downward trend, mainly due to the control mechanisms implemented and the scientific research that has made it possible to effectively monitor the forests.
Several strands of solutions are emerging within universities, and one that is helping to curb illegal logging in Brazil was highlighted in an article published in the journal Nature Sustainability.
The study was funded by FAPESP (projects 22/09091-8 and 21/07012-0) and one of the authors was Luis Gustavo Nonato, professor at the Institute of Mathematical and Computer Sciences of the University of São Paulo (ICMC-USP) and member of the Center for Research in Mathematical Sciences Applied to Industry (CeMEAI), a FAPESP Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center (RIDC).
According to him, the study is based on an analysis of the timber trade network in Brazil. “By implementing control mechanisms and regulations, the Brazilian government has achieved positive impacts on deforestation rates,” he says. "At the same time, it’s produced important data on the timber trade, since all products resulting from logging, from raw logs to processed timber, must be registered in control systems in order to be transported and marketed. This makes it possible to model and analyze the timber network over time.”

TBILISI -- Electoral experts and data analysts have noticed anomalies in the graphical distribution of votes across Georgia's regions and suspect this may be indirect evidence of election fraud, similar to what is said to have happened during Russia's 2020 constitutional referendum. They call this trend the "Russian Tail."
Against the backdrop of hundreds of violations identified by election observers and questions about vote secrecy, the president and opposition parties do not recognize the election results. The Central Election Commission and the ruling Georgian Dream party deny any falsification.
In this article, we examine what the recently circulated graphs show, what they're based on, and what they cannot show.
"If elections are conducted in a free environment without violations, the graphical representation of parties' received votes shows certain patterns," said Roman Udot, a data analyst and former political prisoner in Russia.
"If conducted in an unfree environment with violations and various manipulations, we can see irregularities, deviations, and anomalies in the data's graphical representation. In Georgia, we see exactly such deviations."
Udot, currently in Tbilisi, is one of several data analysts who independently concluded that Georgia's 2024 parliamentary election results show signs of manipulation.
Russian Precedent
How can simple numbers indicate to observers that citizens encountered some form of manipulation in the electoral process?
Russian data analysts and scientists have been analyzing for decades what voter turnout, distribution of party votes, and patterns or irregularities in these expected patterns might tell us about election fairness using various methods.

One of those scientists was Sergei Shpilkin, a Russian physicist whose approach is frequently used by analysts and journalists in Russia. The Russian monitoring organization Golos indicates has relied on the Kisling-Shpilkin method in observing numerous elections.
Here's how this method works:
Initially, public turnout is analyzed across all polling stations nationwide; in Georgia, turnout was 58.94 percent. According to the theory, in fair elections, turnout indicators typically follow a regular graphical representation that resembles a bell shape. If anomalies appear in the data -- for example, forms different from the bell shape or the bell "grows a tail" -- this indicates unfair elections.
What Does Georgia's Data Show?
Levan Kvirkelia, living in San Francisco, is one of the data analysts who published his findings on the social network X. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili later shared his findings.
According to Kvirkelia, there are clear differences between voter turnout indicators in Georgia's urban and regional districts.
While in cities the data representation mostly follows a bell shape, in the regions it is anomalously deviated.

"In rural settlements, an unusual 'tail' is noticed -- on the graphical representation, on the right side -- which indicates falsification," he writes.
Udot agrees, presenting the same data differently using the Sobyanin-Sukhovolsky method.
Like Shpilkin's method, the Sobyanin-Sukhovolsky method is used to determine election manipulation based on numbers.
It was developed by Russian researchers Sergei Sobyanin and Vyacheslav Sukhovolsky. The method relies on exactly the same data as Shpilkin's method but is graphically represented differently and focuses on votes received by parties. Specifically: The method analyzes vote distribution among political parties at all polling stations and tries to identify deviations that indicate unfair elections.
According to the theory, if a number of stations emerge where one candidate -- the "beneficiary" -- is unusually high, this might indicate falsification. There's a high risk of manipulation where increased overall voter turnout is reflected only in support of the "beneficiary."
How are the "points scattered" in Georgia? Udot says that in Georgia's big cities, a relatively regular picture appears, while the situation is different in the regions.

"Relatively healthy regions look like this -- starting from one point and gradually growing like a ray. Of course, certain deviations exist here, too, but not dramatic ones," Udot explained.
'Unhealthy' Anomalies
"But when we look at all other districts, for me, they're simply strange. Unhealthy. Here the deviation is higher than expected. The scatter of points is wider than expected. It doesn't follow a straight line and, of course, raises suspicions."

He explained: "The anomaly is high votes for Georgian Dream in specific points -- meaning stations...under high turnout conditions. The points were too scattered in specific stations, showing their received votes."
"We'll get the same using Sukhovolsky's method," Udot said. "We call this number distribution a histogram, and the thin part of the histogram [is called] the tail. In my research, I call this the 'Russian Tail,' as we often see it in Russia. Over the years, we watched it grow like a tumor and eat away at the healthy parts of districts."
But how can numerical anomalies be evidence -- even indirect -- of "falsification"? Couldn't these deviations be explained by other factors?
"Yes, everything in this world can be explained differently. And the authorities in Russia explained our findings in thousands of ways.... Look, when a drunk person behaves as they do on the street, you can think of a thousand reasons why they behave that way, but in reality, we all know well that they simply drink too much," Udot told RFE/RL.
"And when we observe these 'scattered points' and see them, we know this isn't normal."
