I just wanted to say, ipkknd had such beautiful cinematography, some of the shots are just breathtaking!

My Tumblr search function doesn't work well, and I can't access all your gifs properly 😔 but I've saved a few for writing reference and everytime I see one I am tempted again to watch that episode, haha

Ignore if you have already answered, but do you have any favourite visually beautiful shots from the show? My favourites are the temple bandage scene (even if the audience gawking looks awkward 🙃), the one where Arnav gives prasad to Khushi to see her wearing the bangles and the whole roka ceremony, the decor was just so pretty 💗

Yeah I also end up just rewatching episodes or reading the recaps sometimes hahaha. It's a good show, we can't help it!

This is my favourite shot in the serial:

It's the A in her mehendi, him in the background while he listens to her voice message. Her future and his captured in one brilliant shot.

I have two gifsets about my favourite shots, here and here! But a few of my favourites:

Arnav parting the decorations like a groom on the wedding night while she's dressed as a bride. Absolutely brilliant.

Shyam in equity with Mr Malik, in case any of us were confused about the parallel, but also he's praying and in white and he is the exact opposite of what he pretends to be!

Anjlai's solah shringar sequence before Teej, capturing her identity first and foremost as Shyam's bride, which of course is the cornerstone of the serial alongside her bond with Arnav. And Teej is when Shyam is revealed to the audience. Perfection.

Payal stepping into Shantivan as a bride. Look at that shot. The one they did with Khushi never fully captured the brilliance of this one, I'm not sure why.

Arnav in equity with Salman-ji, who is carrying Khushi's doli. I mean. Honestly just ... wow.

Khushi between Anjali and Arnav as the raksha bandhan is tied. because her every action is about protecting this bond but she ends up being its biggest threat.

The bindi in the mirror, the silent promise of forever right before the dream turns to ash.

I started watching ipk in dec last year and its almost may end, I have watched it like thrice already! I know I am late to watch this epic show but better late than never haha!

I came across your blog and I am in love!! you are an amazing writer with great skills!!

can you write about the scene what was going on in asr's mind while the preeto's wedding track when khushi climbs the stairs to take the flower bucket down and then her dupatti flies all over face and ASR comes to rescue her! then they have a big staring moment🥹🥰 just wanna know what goes on in his mind when he intensely stares at her.

and also when they fall from the stairs and the flower petals shower on them and they both sit up and start laughing, I mean what was going on? what made ASR go soft and laugh with her ?

I have my most important exam in a few hours and here I am writing this question lol! but anyways I hope id get my reply by the end of my exams in a week, or not! its completely fine hehe!

Hello PS! How are you? I just got done with watching Ipkknd and lmao it feels like I'm done with life, I get this hollow feeling lol that you get when you watch something great and have nothing else to watch. I was wondering if you have any other Indian drama recs?

Hahahah omg I know the feeling well. Congratulations on completing the serial! I honestly don't think anything else truly lives up to IPKKND. It occupies a unique place. I will welcome you to the #EndlesslyRewatchingIPKKNDClub in anticipation of you simply starting again :)

However, here are some thing to consider if you’re looking for new shows:

If you like the vibe of IPKKND in terms of an anti-hero and an every-gal, then other 4Lions shows may be of interest. They’re all based on the same template and many IPK fans also liked Ishqbaaz for example, or Qubool Hai or Geet. Other shows that capture this vibe are Rangrasiya (starring Sanaya Irani), Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya, Ek Duje Ke Vaaste, and Jodha Akbar.

However, none of these shows are as tightly plotted or as enjoyable (in my view) as IPKKND. Qubool Hai in particular gets lost in its subplots and side characters, Jodha Akbar has like four amazing tracks and the rest is mediocre at best, and Rangrasiya felt like an off-brand IPKKND. I watched a lot of Pratigya but I wouldn’t describe it as satisfying. Ek Duje Ke Vaaste captured my interest for ages, I even wrote fanfiction for it. 

Qubool Hai season 2 (with Sanam and Aahil) is at times a shot-for-shot retelling of IPKKND but it didn’t hold up to a rewatch last year. My advice is to just watch Episode 426 to see our favourite kidnapper Rocky up to shenanigans as usual and skip to Episode 429 for a song sequence that still haunts my dreams.

I reckon web series are where it's at. Check out Tanhaiyan (starring Barun Sobti and Surbhi Jyoti), The Married Woman, and maybe ASUR (starring Barun Sobti!). Oh, and The Great Indian Dysfunctional Family. 

I’m currently watching Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (from the time leap that stars Harshad Chopra). It’s terrible, it’s literally like the production team is conducting a “what not to do” experiment. The leads are cute though *shrug* And someone stopped by the other day and recommended Anupamaa.

Rishtaa: An Arranged Love -- paused until further notice.

Charade -- I'm working on this but the last update was almost a year ago. I've lost my confidence on where I want this to go, which sucks because I used to be really proud of it.

Tere Bin -- Extremely slow updates. It's too close to my heart and also too painful to work on for more than 30 minutes. Took me three years to write the first three chapters lol.

But maybe the best thing is for people to comment on what they think? I don't feel qualified to talk about this. Thanks for asking, I hope you enjoy them if you choose to read them!

My name is Disha and although I’ve rewatched IPK so many times I only just stumbled upon your blog (I haven’t used tumblr in a looong time) after I started rewatching on the 9 year anniversary- and I’ve got to say I absolutely LOVE your blog! I really appreciate your recaps and look forward to reading the notes for your analysis and interpretations. It’s really awesome to see others analyze and discuss the show and thus keep it alive for so long :’) (1/2)

One thing that really stood out to me that I’ve never realized before is how you maintain that Khushi carefully compartmentalizes her relationship with arnav and her friendship with lavanya. Is there somewhere you talk more in detail about this compartmentalization? (2/2)

Yay for rewatching, long live the #EndlesslyRewatchingIPKKNDClub!

I think I’ve spoken about it in the recaps -- mostly in the pre-Diwali episodes. This is when Khushi starts to treat her friendship with Lavanya and her feelings for Arnav as separate, unrelated things. She knows, intellectually, that Arnav is Lavanya’s boyfriend and that Lavanya is his intended bride, but she manages to isolate those facts from what she feels for him.

It’s almost as if she treats “Arnav, the man I love” as distinct from “Arnav, the man Lavanya-ji loves”. And whenever she’s reminded they’re the same person, such as in Episode 91 when Lavanya complains that the trip to Nainital will be unromantic, it makes her visibly uncomfortable before she pushes it all down and does her trademarked “grin and bear it” routine.

Hello phati-sari, hope you are doing well. Don't want to ask you anything but just wanted to tell you how awesome you are and how awesome your stories are. I am an introvert so it takes a lot for me to interact with outside world openly. You are one of the few authors that I admire. Thanks for the patience and outstanding work. Your analysis of the ipkknd episodes showed me how many things I have missed, (I was very young then), you made me think from Arnav's pov and made me want to rewatch it.

Thanks for the compliments, and for reading my stories! I am also an introvert!!! I have to take breaks from all the interaction and just sit quietly on the sofa with a book (which sort of sucks because this blog is meant to be my ‘quiet activity’ while I recover from the day).

IPKKND is one of the few things I’ve ever analysed – I think it’s nice to just enjoy things without thinking about them too much :) I think it’s wonderful that you see things in Arnav’s POV – many folks don’t and while it’s understandable, it makes the serial simpler and … dare I say it … shallower … than I think it was intended to be.

No problem :) I think it’s natural for most viewers to look at things from Khushi’s point of view, and the show’s relentless bias towards her doesn’t help. I think it’s important to remember that Arnav rarely went into situations trying to be a villain. In most instances, his actions were reactionary – he was trying to cope with everything as best he could, just like Khushi. I mean, he thought she was trying trap him for his money for so long.

I wrote the last recap a very, very long time ago. Thank you for the well-wishes. Unfortunately, the autoimmune condition has no cure at the moment. It is a case of constant monitoring and at times, intervening with surgeries. This upsets a lot of people when I say it, but it’s my reality at the moment and I don’t gain anything by shying away from it.

I will eventually finish the recaps, I promise, but at the moment I’m just taking it day by day and doing what feels right :)
