#23.2 Teases
Dan sighed wistfully. He couldn't help but feel jealous as he witnessed the couple kissing.
It must be great to be Grace. He was attractive, rich, powerful, talented, and respected. He had everything every person in the tower could ever wish to have. So it should come as no surprise that even Princess Endorsi would want him.
But despite all that, Dan didn’t want to be in Grace's shoes. Power and fame came with a price, and he knew how hard Grace had to work for it.
Maybe he wasn't actually jealous of Grace's charm. He was just not willing to let his goddess, Princess Endorsi, pick anyone else as her partner.
Dan let the realization sink in, sulking while chewing on another spoonful of meat curry. Gyetang must've felt even sadder than him, considering that his reason to join their team was to meet Princess Endorsi.
"What happened?" the guy in a tracksuit –Sibisu, if he remembered correctly– asked, as he and the others took a seat.
"Princess…" Hatz trailed off. "She used her tag to 'talk' with Grace. And when they returned, Grace had a kiss mark on his cheek."
That was a surprisingly objective summary.
"You know, I realized something after kissing him." Boss commented. He was looking at Princess Endorsi mirthfully. "The kiss mark on his cheek earlier was tilted in an odd way."
Princess Endorsi raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Boss waited a few beats. Then he shrugged. "Never mind. I was simply sharing my thoughts."
Princess Endorsi gave him a long stare, before her eyes lit up in realization. She chuckled, "How observant."
Dan could only sit there. At least he wasn't the only one that was confused. After all, he didn't really pay attention to the mark position before Grace wiped it out, so he didn't know what kind of odd that Boss meant.
"Woah! Bam–"
The Khun guy whisper-shouted, loud enough to pull Dan out of his thoughts.
"–You learned how to use chopsticks?"
Khun looked pleasantly surprised, and it kind of baffled Dan. He didn't think anyone, especially from the Khun family, could be impressed by such a mere act.
Viole grinned sheepishly. "Yeah. I've wanted to learn it ever since you showed me how."
The smile that crept up on Khun's lips was genuine and fond. It was a familiar expression, one that Dan often saw Boss wearing when he looked at Grace.
He noticed that everyone was also looking at Khun and Viole, as the conversation around died down. Hatsu coughed, and Princess Endorsi rolled her eyes.
Khun, noticing this, glared at everyone. "What?"
Sibisu waved his hand dismissively, grinning. The others avoided eye contact.
Grace smiled as he glanced at Boss…expectantly? Teasingly? Dan couldn't tell.
Boss glanced back at Grace, smirking.
Grace chuckled, as if they were gossiping telepathically.
They did that enough times that Dan had gotten used to it. Exchanging looks without words as if they could read each other's minds. And honestly, Dan wouldn't even be surprised if they revealed that they actually had a telepathic ability.
Khun was now frowning. Dan could imagine two cat ears on his head pointing backwards. "Are you making fun of me?"
Grace quickly waved his hands in front of him. "What? No! I would never."
Boss laughed at Khun, as if daring him. "You are so obvious, it's embarrassing."
Novick coughed, trying to hide his laugh. "It somehow reminded me of that one time Grace tried to make a perfect apple pie, and we ended up having a week’s worth of pies. All because he wanted to impress Boss."
"The pie was delicious. I was impressed." Boss nodded approvingly.
Grace closed his eyes, smiling proudly. "Worth it."
Oh, the lovebirds, Dan thought to himself. Khun must've reminded Boss of himself, which was probably what he and Grace were making fun of earlier.
Princess Anaak raised her hand, palm facing Boss and Grace. "Please don't kiss again. I'm trying to eat."
Dan heard Viole whisper to Khun. "So that's what a kiss is…?" Which was just another whiplash to him.
The more he learned about Viole, the less he fit a slayer candidate's fearsome and mysterious persona. FUG's god, as they called him. He was still a kid at heart, clueless and learning.
"What's up, Blue Turtle? Did you finally find your banana?"
Khun whipped his head, and Dan noticed a light blush on his cheeks. "What does that even mean?! Stupid crocodile."
"I wonder who's actually the stupid one," Hatz shrugged.
Khun growled, took a deep breath, and sighed. "Let's just ignore them, Bam."
It seemed like Khun was used to being antagonized by his own team. But Dan thought that he might understand why.
The strong temptation to tease and nudge the lovebirds, especially when they were so obvious yet clueless. Case in point: Grace and Agni, when Dan was new to their team. He couldn't keep himself from smiling at the memory.
He enjoyed Grace's old team’s company so far. He used every opportunity to join the conversation, especially when everyone started bickering and exchanging stories. The cafeteria had never been so lively before with only the five of them.
The chaotic energy that Grace's old team brought was like adding new flavors into the mix. Only time could tell whether it was a good combination or not, but he hoped that they'd get along. Especially because it would be a lifelong regret if he were to lose the chance to have Princess Endorsi around.

Ungh kinda wanna talk about the Name Hunt Station arc and put into words how uncomfortable it was? I think I might be criticizing SIU too lots of spoilers below and this might end up being a bit of a deep dive into Team Isu
First of all: I dont understand how Team Isu would throw everything they have with Bam back in Bam’s face like that. I am so so so glad that Isu realized how badly they fucked up, how he as a leader fucked up and that Khun called them all out on it. But i am so confused how they even got there.
Bam died as far as they knew but the second someone told each of them that he was alive, ALL OF TEAM ISU even people that DIDNT know Bam dropped everything to get him back. Khun asked Isu in the middle of the Workshop Battle to even FORFEIT AND THEY DID IT. Forfeiting the Floor 30th game, that could get them OP items, keep their status as the strongest E rank Regulars and notoriety to FUG, they gave up all that cuz Khun said it would help them save Bam.
And in NHS when Endorsi’s life is on the line suddenly its ‘you guys owe us for helping you save Bam?’ I’m sorry what?! Hatz who respects Bam endlessly, to the point that he shares KHUN’s feeling of inadequacy turning on Bam?! Endorsi who never stopped grieving Bam, who also fought for Bam’s autonomy is okay with taking that away from him? That being said…
Endorsi has come a LONG way from how forceful she used to be with Bam from that point. She now vouches for his autonomy constantly, even if it puts her in danger (the whole marriage tournament, entering the Sprout). She stays level headed and keeps Bam’s own goals in mind when she switches to Bam’s team(Hidden floor with making sure Bam knew what happened to Khun, keeping Khun and herself safe at the end of S3 whenever Khun got distracted by how batshit insane the whole Vam thing was). Her character is consistently loyal after NHS, just as it was pre NHS.
All that to say, it really doesn’t make the NHS arc feel less like an attention grabbing arc than it does. Cuz while I do somewhat understand that sometimes you get so caught up in something you forget about the people youre hurting (I’m guilty of that irl, tunnel vision isnt always good yall) but to see how many characters apparently were all for it? That just felt…really gross.
Isu literally did not tell his team that he was helping Bam in the end and I’m sure they all found out in the end but yeah….
Again their team after NHS does revert back to what we expect, with Team Isu supporting Team Bam when things hit the fan, (Hell train). The Isu Bam hug had me in tears, Endorsi reminding Bam that even if he’s lost some people, others returned and that counts for something. Isu and Hatz and Rak dropping everything just to heal Khun out of loyalty to Khun specifically is slept on by Khun and driving me insane. (I want to shake Khun awake and be like: LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE YOU). Hatz moment where he wonders if using a ton of power is as painful for Bam as it was for him was a great callback to what their relationship is.
Isu is in a way, sort of the Bam for his team. Everyone follows Isu without question just as everyone does in Team Bam. If Isu has declared that revenge is the move(s2), the team will follow, if Isu has ANY differing feelings to Team Bam, the rest of the team will echo it faster than Isu can grasp (Khun and Hatz fighting while Isu was still trying to find common ground cuz Isu isnt fking stupid). But while Isu might be their leader, he doesnt have Khun’s overall prowess that keeps everyones respect for him nor Bam’s natural charisma(and Im calling Bam’s innocent charm charisma cuz that is a form of charisma imo) so he struggles to reign them in. Isu’z greatest quality is his wit afterall. The team follows Isu out of love I would say, whereas everyone follows Bam cuz they appreciate and want what he represents and they want whats best for him while Khun keeps everyone in line. Not saying people dont follow Bam out of love, they absolutely do, but I mean in terms of how easily random people who have just met Bam are immediately willing to help him.

hello, can i request tower of god headcannons? bam, khun aguero, hatz, white/hoaqin seeing their s/o again after a long time because they were separated by some problems, fluff please :3 —✨⭐️💫
Thank you so much for requesting !!! hope you enjoys the headcanons. Sorry it took long to get to it i got some stuff going on and i had difficulty to get ideas for Hatz part.
-
Seeing their s/o after being separated for a long time
25th Bam

-You were sure that Bam died on the floor of tests and yet you still had a glimpse of hope that he had somehow found a way to survive.
-You teamed up with Khun to climb the tower and help him grieve over Bam death, while Bam wasnt there Khun made sure you were safe.
-As for Bam He was still hurt by Rachel betreyal but thinking of you while he was under FUG trainning helped him trough those painful time. Most of the time you were in is toughts.
-When he saw you from afar he was relieved that you were still in the tower and let out a smile. Altough he could'nt be near you as long as Fug had tabs on him.
-It's after escaping from the workshop battle area with everyone that you finally reunited with Bam, he held you in his arms and you were both crying.
-He had a tight grip around you, he missed your presence a lot and seeing you again brought him so much joy.
-You stayed in his embrace for a long time, Khun had to lead the others out of the room so you and Bam had a private time.
-While he was in coma you went to check on him every single day. You would ramble about how your day went to give yourself a bit of hope.
Khun Aguero

-Sometime you were accompanied by Bam to cheer you up you even brought your meal. You were hopeful that he would wake up one day
-You were going to see him after finishing you daily tasks, when you saw he was awake you almost drop your dinner. He was surprised et relieved to see you waiting for him.
-He was still confused about what happened to him, and had many questions to ask. He had the impression of hearing your beautiful voice during his long slumber.
-You would take your time to explain him the current situation at hand, and you both train together while doing the floor tests.
-You were helping him come up with a plan/strategy for one of the future tests and after some hours he fell asleep on you.
-It felt less lonely to be in his compagny after such a long time, he always made sure to spend most of his time with you.
-The last time you saw Hatz was on the floor of test, you were both on different teams but somehow you got along pretty well.
-During the time you were not around he missed trainning with you. He learned some new sowrd skills while doing so.
Hatz

-When he saw you again he was glad to see you were still climbing the tower and was itching to challenge you to a fight and see if you improved your skills.
-He doesn't really know how to start a conversation with you but he will listen to your achievements in your journey.
-He will also try to act cool in front of you and fail because he kept being teased by his teammates especially by Shibisu and Endorsi
-He will follow you around to make sure you are not getting into some sort of trouble or any dangers and because he missed you.
-Some people wonder how you are still alive for being around someone like white. Everything around you was like a mystery you piqued White curiosity.
-For some reasons he was never bored of you and on rare occasions he even got affectionate around you giving you cute pet names.
-You were one of the few people that stirred up up trouble into the tower along White when he was in his prime. You were both feared among the Fug slayers and no one wanted to be near you.
White/Hoaqin

-No one could predict your course of action. As annoying as it sounded for you. you even teamed up with Rachel to board the Hell train.
-When he first saw you, he throwed a tantrum on how long he has been waiting on that train, he wont say it but he is happy to see you again.
-You had to contain your small laughter seeing white so tiny yet adorable you wanted to pinch his cheek. If it had been anyone else he might have cut them with his sword but since it was you he did nothing.
-He would cuddle with you and let you play with his hair when no one is looking, he is not the kind of person to be affectionate in public but he does loves your touch.

Would you consider doing a pt 2 to Hanahaki Disease where everyone finds out about the surgery? 😖😖
Of course you can! Thank you so much for requesting this. First part can be found here. I hope you enjoy!
Word count: 1.2k
CW/TW: nothing much, mentions of hospital and not being able to breath.
Genre: angst, not as bad as the last one though. a lot of Endorsi comforting the reader <3
Hanahaki Disease (2)
Y/n!” came a foreign voice startling you out of your pleasant thoughts. You stood there confused as you couldn’t pinpoint exactly whose voice it was, thought it was familiar.
You turned around, still with a smile on your lips.
“Hm?” you replied, taking in the sight of the person in front of you.
He had an angelic smile, velvety laugh, porcelain skin and piercing, bright blue eyes. He was the definition of perfection. You questioned to yourself if he was hand-carved by the Greek Gods themselves.
“Are you ok? I haven’t seen you in a couple of days?”
“I’m so sorry if this sounds rude but do we know each other?”
——————————————————————————
Khun stood there still, in shock. For the first time the blue haired man was speechless. Whatever he was expecting after not talking to you normally for weeks certainly wasn’t this. And it wasn’t just the blank look on your face that irked him, it was also your tone. You were talking so formally and polite it made him feel disgusted.
It had been a couple of weeks since your confession. You two hadn’t spoken much bar an occasional greeting or discussing of plans. Though he wouldn’t admit it, he had missed you. A lot. Despite everything that’s happened, you two were best friends and it hurt not talking to you. But he had wanted to give you space. Now he almost regrets that.
“Is this some kind of joke?” he asked, anger masking his confusion and hurt though he knew the answer deep down. He knew it wasn’t. Khun was a perceptive person, so he could tell that you weren’t messing around.
“No? I just had surgery though so I guess i’m still a little out of it,” you replied almost breathlessly. Not only was he a work of art, he had a beautiful, almost velvety voice to match
“Surgery? Why didn’t you tell anyone? We’ve been worried sick about you for the past few days!”
You were gone for three days and nobody knew where you were. Sure you didn’t have to tell anyone but it’d be nice if you had even left a note.
Thinking back, why didn’t you tell anyone? You felt bad that your friends were worried about you. You hadn’t been yourself but you didn’t want to worry them anymore. You didn’t realize how long the operation would take.
“I’m sorry. I thought everyone was busy and didn’t want to worry them more,” came your sheepish reply.
“Y/n, we‘re your friends. You could’ve at least told us.” he scolded. Though his tone was harsh it wasn’t hard to see the lines of worry across his forehead.
It was really weird, you thought. You could remember everyone else quite clearly. Why couldn’t you remember him? He seemed so familiar too. And why did you even have the surgery in the first place? The answer was right there in the back of your brain but you couldn’t reach it.
Khun
Khun? What the hell was a Khun?
No, not what.
Who?
“Khun…?” you asked uncertainly.
You could almost see some of the tension roll off his shoulder.
“Yeah, that’s my name,” his tone was rather harsh but for some reason he was rather easy to read. You could tell how stressed he was.
Khun could also read you easily. He noticed your still confused look and sighed.
“I’m gonna call Endorsi, maybe she’ll know what’s up,” with that Khun sauntered off with the intention of finding your best friend and getting answers.
Almost immediately as he left the room Endorsi came running in. You could hear the man named Khun scoff and continue walking down the hallway, leaving you two alone.
“Don’t hate me but I was listening into your conversation and i just can’t help but worry,” she babbled breathlessly. “What’s wrong? Did you have surgery. Can you remember me? Please don’t tell me you’ve forgotten me. Otherwise I’ll have to slap it out of you,”
She was joking,,, or at least you hoped.
Without giving you time to respond she wrapped her arms around you and rested her forehead against your shoulder. You instinctively hugged her back.
“You didn’t actually forget me did you?” she mumbled sadly into your shoulder.
“What! No, of course not! How could I ever forget one of my closest friends.” you replied with the most certainty you could muster. It was true though. You could remember every little detail about her. She was rather hard to forget.
Upon hearing that Endorsis mood took a complete 180. “Yay, ok now can you please explain everything?”
“I can try but the truth is I don’t remember anything myself. I had a surgery for three days but now I don’t even remember what it was for. I think it was for lung disease.”
“Why didn’t you tell me? You can tell friends anything. We could’ve gone through this together. Man that must’ve been so scary having surgery alone,”
“No it wasn’t actually that bad. But the issue is I can’t remember that Khun man qnd he looks really sad about it. “
“Khun, sad? I doubt it,” she snorted. “This sounds really familiar though. There’s actually been a lot of cases lately where people had surgery for something in their lungs and forgetting about their loved ones when they wake up. I think it’s something in the anaesthetic.”
“Oh…” you trailed off unsure.
“Yeah, I think it was like Hananene illness or something.”
Hanahaki
You felt like you were in the hospital again. You could hear the nurses and doctors arguing throwing that cursed word around. You kept trying to take big gulps of air but it felt like you were drowning. It was so painful. Your lungs were bursting even though there was nothing in them.
Except those wretched blue flowers.
“Earth to y/n. Earth to y/n. You ok? You look like you just remembered a ghost.” Endorsis head was no longer on your shoulder, instead her arms were gripping them, lightly shaking you.
“It was Hanahaki disease,” you said a little too quickly.
“Oh yeah it was- Wait! Did you have Hanahaki disease?”
You nodded a bit ashamedly, looking to the side.
“And it was Khun who you were in love with, that’s why you’ve forgotten him,”she whispered softly with the sudden realization.
“I can’t remember a thing about him though. I could barely even recall his name,”
Endorsi looked at you with such sadness sadness in her eyes you were scared she was going to start crying.
“I’m so sorry. I should’ve been there for you. I should’ve known.”
You were taken aback by her strange kindness.
“Hey, it’s fine. Besides I’m alive and I’ve forgotten him so it doesn’t really matter now” you weren’t sure who you were trying to reassure.
“Still, I’m not sure how we’re going to tell him,”
“Tell who, what?” asked Shibisu, entering the room with Bam and Hatz.
Endorsi turned to you and gave you a look that said it was going to be a long night.
Silently you agreed.
A/n: sorry for leaving it off here but i did it for two reasons. one otheriwse it was gonna be a long ass story. and two, to see if people wanted a next part. literally one dm/ inbox message and i’ll do it cuz i really enjoy writing this. thank you! oh also if y’all wanna make it someone else x reader. or we could even do a little bit of khun secretly being in love and wants her back. possibilities are endless, lemme know !

hey could i request a short scenario w khun going into the reader’s room and they reader is like what do you want? and he’s staring at you all cocky and says “oh i just wanted to see your cute face” thank you!
hii, sure you can
-
Khun Aguero Agnis was certainly a strange man. One day he could be compared to a block of ice – cold, emotionless, distant, and you would probably freeze if you got near. This side of him usually showed on the battlefield, during times when he was forced to lead the whole group, and every mistake might result in someone's death. But there were other days. Other days, where he was more of an Aguero than a Khun, the block of ice surrounding his body seemed to slightly melt. It showed when his smiles were wider, the blue in his eyes brightened, and laughter got just an octave higher. Khun rarely showed his softer side. The Tower made everyone keep their guard up, and didn't allow too many moments of safety and happiness to happen.
Today was the day, though. Right after you walked into the kitchen, Khun greeted you with a big grin, offering a cup of coffee. That was the moment when you realized he was in an especially great mood. Khun Aguero Agnis, one of the least approachable people alive, willingly chit-chatted with his teammates, and didn't insult any of them during the process. What a time to be alive! Each time he missed an opportunity to do so, Endorsi seemed to become more, and more confused.
“What is wrong with you today?” the princess questioned his behavior, furrowing her eyebrows.
Khun chuckled, and sent her another grin. “Why would anything be wrong with me?”
“You're acting weird!”
“Talking to people is weird?”
“No! I mean-” A pause. “It's weird when you do it!”
“Blue Turtle is finally coming out of his shell!” Rak interrupted their bickering, and stuffed another banana in his mouth. “You turtles always argue over nothing!”
By this point you didn't want to listen anymore. It's not like it happened for the first time – Khun is in a good mood, someone questions it, and chaos emerges. You sighed, and headed towards your room. When you came in, you grabbed a book, and lied down on the bed. Climbing the Tower left very little time to relax, so you haven't really read any literature lately.
The story wasn't particularly interesting, but also not boring enough to drop the activity. When the first hour passed, you heard the door opening. Someone definitely didn't learn how to knock. Luckily, you were blessed with an amazingly charming intruder.
“Do you need anything, Khun?” you asked, looking at the man standing by the doorway.
The look on his face expressed one thing – pure smugness. Something was definitely off with him today.
“Oh, I just wanted to see your cute face,” he replied with a cocky smirk.
The book fell out of your hands. You weren't sure if your brain registered everything properly – did he really just...
Khun seemed terribly amused with your reaction. Before you could ask any questions, he had already left the room.
Yes, he really just said that.
Khun Aguero Agnis was a strange man indeed.

Addictive - Ch. 1 of Guns and Roses
Summary: A Mafia AU with Khun as a mob boss and Bam as a cop who may or may not take on the role as his bodyguard in the future.
Word Count: 2,367
---
Bam never had a first love. He was the top of his class, graduating at a police academy with exceptional grades and excellent combat skills. Though he knew exactly what he fancied when his gaze lingered on a particularly handsome man passing by, the kind of job he had left no room for romance.
Bam had never known failure. He handled his work with diligence and all of his cases so far had been handled successfully. It was true that he had his fair share of problems, but with the help of his clever captain, no case of his was left unsolved.
So on one fateful night, he had the pleasure of experiencing two things he had never felt before.
It all began with a heist and a plan that went wrong.
After a case was assigned to him about the development of a mafia gang, Bam had spent the last two weeks meticulously gathering information. All he had were photographs and names of some of the supposed members, but he knew he needed more.
Captain Hwaryun had arranged for him to go undercover as a dealer in a gambling den that all of the gang members would be at. It wasn’t clear what their objective was, but since he had never been able to see all of the members at work in the same room, Bam was ecstatic.
He struggled to keep his cool as he folded the collar of his button-down with trembling fingers. Bam stood in the break room and contemplated his outfit in the mirror, hoping the clothes Hwaryun picked for him were fitting for the occasion. Glancing at his watch, he grabbed his suit jacket and tossed it onto his shoulders before exiting the room.
Bam approached the woman he was covering for, who retreated from the table and left him to set up. He worked at a leisurely pace, trying to focus more on counting the playing chips rather than his jittering nerves.
Once he had settled into a game of poker, Bam let his eyes slowly wander the room. He was intent on recognizing the familiar faces from his case files, and sure enough, he spotted the charming con artist who went by Endorsi and her fellow pickpocket, Shibisu. Those two were the only ones who had been seen by the public eye on multiple occasions but were not caught by the cops. There was a third member who Bam had very little information about because he was pivotal to any robberies that took place. While the gang’s thief was busy picking locks, Endorsi and Shibisu served as distractions.
However, their boss was nowhere to be seen.
There was no sign of the infamous, cutthroat man who left an officer in the emergency room after they crossed paths. His name, Khun, was the only thing known about him, and that was the information given to Bam when he took over the injured officer’s case.
When Bam spotted Shibisu making his way to the bathroom, he quickly finished his game to pursue the brown-haired man. He opened the door and locked it just as Shibisu was walking over to the sink. Bam rushed forward, unsheathing a knife from his pocket and pressing it to the man’s back.
Before Shibisu could make a noise, Bam snatched his earpiece and crushed it under his foot. “Don’t move.” He ordered.
“W...What do you want?” Shibisu managed through gritted teeth. He lifted his hands, bottom lip quivering as he did so.
“Why are you here?”
“As if I would tell y-”
Bam interrupted him by slamming the knife’s tip on the sink. Shibisu inhaled sharply, eyes bulging when he noticed how close his side had been from being stabbed.
“Please choose your answer carefully.”
“A heist,” he blurted out. “We’re stealing from really arrogant people so if you’re looking for money or retribution, we-“
“That’s not necessary. I’m not here for the money.” Bam cut him short, pausing to choose his next words. He swallowed before asking, “Where is your boss?”
“On the second floor.”
His stomach dropped.
No..that couldn’t be. Their boss never went on missions with the other members. He never needed to. The job always got done. Why was...he..here?
He had to find out himself. It was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
Bam tied the man’s hands to the faucet with his belt, making sure the knot was tight and secure. He discarded Shibisu’s phone in the garbage and gagged him with the handkerchief in his breast pocket.
He hurried outside and rushed to the elevator. Passing by a hallway full of doors, Bam stopped in his tracks when he heard a scream. The door was ajar, allowing him to peek inside, where a man was being threatened by someone with black hair. The frightened man was revealing a code and Bam was suddenly torn between stopping a robbery and confronting a mafia boss.
Then Shibiu’s words echoed through his head and his mind fixated on the phrase ‘arrogant people’. Bam made his decision, letting out a sharp huff before spinning around and pushing the elevator button.
As soon as the doors opened, Bam was tugged inside and engaged in a fight with two heavy-set men in black suits. The elevator rocked under his feet as she darted from side to side, blocking punches and delivering jabs to the neck. As soon as he saw an opening, he whipped his leg around and kicked one of the men right in the jaw. He crumpled to his knees and Bam flung his heel over his head, knocking him out.
He took out his knife and eyed the remaining man expectantly. Bam wiped the sweat off his forehead, springing into action with a swing of his blade. One second he was ducking his head and the next he was standing over two limp bodies. The ding of the elevator signaled the end of the bumpy ride and he walked out, leaving the knife lodged in the man’s throat.
Bam stepped forward and surveyed the room. His gaze passed by the door to a bathroom, the bed, and the window until he caught the dazzling blue eyes of a man sitting down on a sofa.
The man was currently preoccupied with snipping off a rose’s stem, leaving the petals to lay on a nearby table next to two glasses of dark wine. Locks of silvery-blue hair framed his face, curling around his broad shoulders and brushing against the pearls dangling from his ears. His navy blue vest clung to his hips, the silky fabric shifting as he leaned back into the sofa’s plush cushions. His lips were painted with a cherry red and the sleeves of his dress shirt were rolled up to his elbows. He ran his fingers along his cobalt necktie and gave a radiant grin, adjusting his leg to cross it over his other one.
Bam forgot how to breathe.
He lost all reason when the question slipped out of his mouth, “Who are you?”
He wasn’t thinking clearly. Bam knew the answer, but he needed to be sure. He wanted to be certain his mind wasn’t playing tricks on him.
“My name is Khun Aguero Agnis.” He spoke, picking up a wine glass in each hand and standing up. “I’m sure you’ve heard of me.”
The click of his heel snapped Bam back to reality. He drew his gun from the inside of his jacket and pointed it at the man. Khun simply continued walking, his footsteps bold, despite his threats. Bam stood his ground and cocked his gun, arching an eyebrow.
Khun stopped in front of him, sighing loudly. “You can put the gun down. Look, I don’t have any weapons.” He gestured to his empty belt with his hands, which were currently occupied by wine glasses. “I’m not going to hurt you. You’re too valuable.”
“Valuable?”
“I’ll cut to the chase since you’re itching to leave.” The man flashed him a devious smile, offering a glass to Bam. “I want to recruit you.”
Bam eyed the drink curiously and remained still. “I refuse.”
Khun raised his arm. The sudden movement made Bam’s finger fly to the trigger, but all the man did was down his glass in a single gulp. “I thought you’d say that. I suppose you need some convincing.”
The last thing Bam saw was his wink before he got blinded by a wave of dark red liquid.
The wine burned his eyes and he squeezed them shut, grunting in annoyance. His hands, which were cut by the glass, throbbed with pain. The gun slipped from his fingers and Bam quickly swiped his sleeve across his face. He bent down to pick up the gun when a kick to the stomach made him double over. A frustrated noise erupted from his throat as he moved to attack Khun with swift punches. Bam’s fists made contact with air and it was confusing him that Khun was now taking the defensive, dodging with his hands tucked behind his back.
When Bam paused to catch his breath, Khun was back on the offense without a second to spare. His fighting style was something foreign to him-polished to perfection and incredibly unpredictable. He didn’t want to believe it, but he began to tire, his muscles taut and overworked.
Khun wasted no time to take advantage of this. He landed one solid punch and Bam was knocked onto the bed, clutching his side.
All of a sudden, Khun was on top of him, grabbing his wrists and slamming them onto the mattress. He tried to move his leg, but Khun was quick to pin him down, the heat of his thigh causing Bam to tense up.
“What is your name?” He demanded, leaving no room for negotiation or defiance.
“I...I’m Bam.”
“A cop.” Khun spat with a viciousness that made him shudder.
“Yes,” he admitted. “I started working there recently.”
“So you’re a newbie. How interesting.” The anger Khun previously displayed had dissipated, replaced with a thoughtful sparkle in his eyes. “I think you’re wasting your remarkable talents.”
“So...what do you want from me?”
“You,” Khun spoke, his voice a velvety purr.
The gentleness of his words greatly contrasted the powerful grip on Bam’s wrists.
“...What?”
“Be my bodyguard.”
Bam stared up at him. The shock in his expression brought on Khun’s laughter.
“If you worked with me, I could grant you the freedom that the police could never provide. There would be no more of those pesky rules to hold you back. All I ask in return is that you fight for me. I don’t need your protection, but I have a feeling that I’ll enjoy having you by my side.”
“But...I-“
“You can’t say no.”
“Why not?”
“I won’t allow it. I can’t let something so...impressive out of my sight for a second longer,” Khun leaned in close, his floral cologne tickling his nose. The more Bam fought against his grasp, the tighter he clutched his wrists. “Besides, I know you want to. I can tell.”When Bam stopped struggling, he let go of him. Khun’s fingers trailed down his arms until he got to his cheeks, which he cupped in his palms.
“All of your desires are displayed right in front of me-from the clenching of your jaw to your erratic heartbeat,” Khun smirked, bringing their faces closer together. “I could hear it from a mile away.” His thumb lightly touched his bottom lip. Bam shivered under his warm body and bewitching stare.
Khun’s head dipped and Bam squeezed his eyes shut. He let out a shaky breath as he felt Khun’s lips press on the corner of his mouth. His fluttering eyelashes grazed Bam’s cheek and his breath was hot against his neck.
Khun murmured into his ear, “Join me. I could show you a fun time.”
Enthralled by the softness of his voice, Bam barely registered the faint click of handcuffs from the bed frame.
Wait.
Wait, wait...handcuffs?
“I’ll give you a day to think about it.” Khun sat upright, slipping a card into his breast pocket. “Give me a call, will you?”
Bam frowned silently. He knew he had lost, but that didn’t mean he liked it at all. The man slipped off the bed and Bam felt his eyelids close, the scent of sleeping gas and a hint of roses being the last thing she remembered.
---
Hours later, Bam regained consciousness. A woman stood over him, shining a light in his eyes and giving a relieved sigh when he stirred.
“So...did you finally..get some?”
Bam gave a pout and Hwaryun responded with a lighthearted chuckle. As she picked the lock of the handcuffs, he tried to wrap his head around everything that happened. Once his wrists were free and he was sitting in a police car with Hwaryun at the steering wheel, Bam came clean and confessed to his captain about meeting Khun Aguero Agnis. He told her the important details, like how he got his ass kicked, skimming over the part that made him blush. Bam left out Khun’s offer entirely.
“I should stay away from him.”
“Yes.”
“He’s dangerous and I should avoid him at all costs.”
“Exactly.”
“But there’s a problem,” he thought to himself.
Bam brushed his finger along the corner of his mouth, where Khun’s scarlet lipstick stained his skin. His fingertip lingered for a moment before he bit his thumb, the heat burning from his flushed cheeks.
“I can’t stop,” he whispered.
He was charmed, intrigued, but worst of all-
-he was addicted.
---
Later that night while Bam pondered over his decision, he fished the card out of his pocket, blue rose petals spilling out when he did so. He gaped at the petals sitting in his palm and let a small smile rest upon his lips.
The rose was a symbol of the mafia gang. Khun had claimed him as his own.
Bam grew flustered at the thought and left the petals on his desk. He fell asleep with a pounding in his chest and the realization that he had been marked by a mafia boss.

How old is Khun Ran?

This was Ran when he first became a Regular. He looks super small. Almost like a toddler.
By the time he's an E-rank Regular he still looks like a little kid. Older, but still little.
Some say he's older than Anak. I read Workshop Battle recently and I don't think it says that anywhere.
Furthermore, since he's a prodigy, he would have not taken a long time to climb the Tower. He may have taken more time than Khun, since Khun traveled from Floors 1-25 with an OP team(a Princess of Jahad, a demi-Princess, Hatsu, an Eurasia family member), while Ran may have not had such a powerful team.
Ran probably met and befriended Khun when they were young(by out standards AND Tower standards) and started climbing before him. In the Inner Tower, Khun caught up to him. This supports the theory that Khun is not Jared 319, but is a teenager at the beginning of S1 (which is what his TUS wiki page says).
In addition, Endorsi is said to be reaaaally old for a new Regular at 300~ years of age. The same is never said of Khun, so I doubt he'a close in age to Jared, 319.

Although it is never explicitly confirmed, this Khun woman who speaks to Ran is widely believed to be his biological older sister, Khun Maschenny Jahad. The "Dad" she's referring to is probably their father, Khun Eduan. No other man would have as much investment in Ran's future as Eduan, whose family would get more glory if Ran became a Ranker. The way she dresses is very Maschenny-esque too, what with the long dress and the capelet.

But who is this other person? The only thing we know for sure is they have blue hair, like a child of Khun. It kinda goes "inward" instead of spreading out like Maschenny's.
We don't know if their hair is short or long: it looks like Kiseia and David's hairstyles, but could also be long hair tucked into a scarf or something. Like Maria.

If she tucked all her hair into the scarf it could end up looking like the unknown Khun relative in Ran's flashback.
SIU is lowkey teasing this character by only hinting at their ancestry but hiding all other aspects of their appearance, including hairstyle and outfit. We don't know if there are children of the OG Maschenny other than Maschenny J(r.)ahad and Ran. This person probably wouldn't be there when Princess Maschenny visited if they weren't closely related, so they could be from the same branch? Ah this is confusing
#tower of god#tog#khun ran#khun aguero agnis#khun maschenny zahard#i will pepper in as many mentions of ‘jared 319’ as i can#not that i had many but i tried#bitches be waiting for the khun family arc to finally appear in the plot#it’s me i’m bitches#observations & inferences

#17.2 Auri
Shibisu was beat. His match with Agni must have been the lamest out of everyone. He couldn't land a single blow on him no matter how hard he tried. All the while knowing that Agni was going easy on him. Still, Agni offered him an outstretched hand and pulled him up to his wobbly feet.
"You did your best," Agni smiled encouragingly. It was an odd look on him, since he looked a lot like Khun, and Khun wouldn't have smiled like that. At least never at him. "But there is still a lot to work on with those blind spots."
Shibisu knew. But he wasn't built for agility, especially with his low shinsu tolerance. Each time they ascended another floor, it took him some time to get used to moving quickly again.
"I have something for you." Agni pulled him out of his thoughts. He opened his palm. "Give me your hand."
Shibisu complied and mirrored Agni's example. In return, Agni placed something in his palm.
"What is this?"
"It's special fish food. Hold it like this and just relax, ok?" Agni instructed as he repositioned Shibisu's arm so it was fully outstretched, palm flat.
Before Shibisu could ask, Agni had called one of his hidden lighthouses. He whistled and a fish swam out from it. It was about an arm’s length and very fast. Its color was also quite muted; he would have missed it had he not been paying attention.

"This is Auri." Agni introduced as the fish swam around him and preened under his touch. "She's a domesticated electric eel, capable of stunning D-ranks and killing E-ranks. Her species is loyal and territorial, but they can be very timid otherwise. I want you to take care of her one day."
"What?!" Shibisu whisper-shouted through gritted teeth, afraid that he would startle the fish. "Didn't you just say that she's dangerous?"
"She can protect you." Agni pried his fist open and led him to stretch his arm out again. "Just give her this and she'll know that you're a friend."
Shibisu held his breath when the fish swam close, trying his best to not flinch or take another step back when it opened its jaw, displaying rows of needle sharp teeth that could definitely shred his flesh. Yet his fear never happened, and the fish was surprisingly docile when it nibbled on the pellet.
Despite his initial fear, he could see its appeal. It was affectionate and gentle. Granted, he always had a soft spot for cute things, even if they might be dangerous. Case in point: his team.
Shibisu tried to move his arm a little, since he was no longer as tense, but the sudden move startled the fish, and it suddenly vanished into thin air. Shibisu looked around and found nothing.
Noticing his confusion, Agni explained, "As I said, her species is very timid. They have the ability to conceal themselves with shinsu, so they can be hard to detect without observers."
The fish reappeared behind Agni, swimming near his shoulders, "Ah, there you are." Agni flicked his fingers and pointed to the lighthouse; the fish obediently swam back inside. "I will bring her again the next time we meet, so she can get used to this team."
Shibisu could only nod, knowing that refusal wasn't an option.
Agni walked away and clapped his hands to get the whole team's attention, "That's a wrap for today. A shame no one won my bet, but I hope you learnt something from this."
Endorsi clicked her tongue, "Show off."
Agni ignored her entirely, but his stance was never unguarded, ready to leap in case of sudden attack. Was every Khun raised like that?
"Hm, one more thing…" Agni walked up to Rak. "Crocodile, come with me for a moment."

Tower Of God Anime Episode 1 Breakdown
Spoilers so Anime only’s beware.
-The two hot boys have shown up. Interesting they’re both under honor and pride, since the two hate each other’s guts. Hatz strives to bring honor as swordsman and places a lot of his pride into that. Meanwhile, Khun strives to regain his honor taken away from him after his exile, and his overwhelming pride causes problems for him.
-In this small scene, there’s so much symbolism about Endorsi’s character. First, we focus on her shoes, which links to the idea of how Jahad’s Princesses are called the shoes in the king’s showcase. Right now, she is a shoe, walking towards her destiny of entering the tower. Then we get a shot of her face, a mix of adorable and pretty. These two shots indicate what everyone sees when they first meet Endorsi, a princess and then just a pretty face. Until it finally pulls back and shows the many other shoes in the showcase, to which Endorsi is compared to and what people hope she becomes. However, she stands outside the case because she wants freedom from her duties as a princess.
-Another interesting thing about the showcase shot is that while Endorsi is at first front and center, she’s ultimately dwarfed by the many other shoes that come into frame, showing that even if she’s a princess, she’s just one of many and can easily be made (replaced) again.
-The power and influence line shows Endorsi wants. She wanted power to become stronger than the other girls at her home, and eventually she gained it. Now she wants power to become a popular princess, which will give her influence. With her influence she might be able to change something about the princess system, just like what Yuri wants.
-Shibisu is under the money and wealth, replacing Narae. Now, we don’t actually know Shibisu’s backstory. We’ve gotten hints of it such as someone taking something from him, but we don’t know the full story. Might this give a clue into his past?
-Anaak is probably the most easiest to explain. She wants revenge on the Jahad family for her mother and father’s deaths. However she eventually mellows out with this, preferring to keep her teammates safe then strive for revenge (like in the Name Hunt Station Arc)
-Rak wants to transcend all. Basically become stronger than anyone, and he’ll gain this power by hunting down strong prey and proving he’s stronger.
-I can’t really do an analysis of the op cause most of it is just Bam walking and stuff, so here are my fav shots (Though the yellow one scares me). Interesting that we get a shot of the Jahad symbol in the op, though it makes sense with just how important it is. Though I don’t know what was up with the bird. I guess it’s meant to represent freedom, but ToG is more full of water metaphors than sky. (Also the only time birds are relevant in ToG is when they appear and then die)
-I love Rachel’s little smile after Bam tells her he doesn’t want her to go up the tower. It seems like she’s smiling to calm him down and explain the situation, however you can also see the fakeness in it. She isn’t smiling because she feels bad for Bam, she’s smiling because she feels like she has to.
-This shot still confuses me. It’s like the tower itself is vibe checking Bam.
-Subarashi
-Bam subscribes to the “No Waifu, No Laifu” train of thought. And just as I predicted, people are already calling him a simp. I guess I can let it pass for now, but’s gonna get annoying if people keep calling him that, even after S1.
-Thus, the meeting that forever changed the tower’s fate has occurred. And it all started with a kick to the face.
-Seeing Yuri and Evan together makes me happy. They’re such a great duo that feel better together than split. Also I’m interested in the language they’re using. Is it a real world language, fake, or a mix of a few languages? Either way, it seems that Yuri and Evan might be able to understand each other without a Pocket (maybe because Evan’s guide abilities allow him to know every language in the tower?)
-Gotta say, the CGI looks very crappy, especially in mix with the extremely cartoony style of ToG. Hope we don’t get to much of it.
-Why are they saying Non-Regular. It’s supposed to be Irregular. The trailers got it right, so why is this different?
-Love how Bam’s the only one who reacts to the threat of execution. Evan and Yuri probably hear that on a daily basis so it doesn’t matter as much.
-Yuri went from shitting on him to wanting to fuck him in a second. Normally I’d criticize such a thing but since Yuri has a different agenda, and the circumstances between princesses and men, I can’t blame her for wanting a handsome man to go up. (Seriously all the princesses must be sexually frustrated)
-Anaak’s my favorite girl in S1, but I think Yuri’s gonna convert me if she has more of these great faces.
-Another translation error, but one also translated wrongly in Japanese. It’s supposed to be needle, but they say katana (sword in japanese). If I’m remembering correctly, only one 13 Month Weapon is actually a sword.
-Poor Evan. Then again, even if it seems he has a weak hold on her, he’s probably the best one for the job. Since he’s one of the highest ranking guides, he’s probably stuck taking care of either hard to handle or strong princesses.
-Their relationship is adorable. I have a thing for tall girl x short boy and this fulfills it all the way. Also, Yuri saying she hates being bored is really telling of just how much of an adventurous spirit she has. Even in the tower where things are hectic all the time and she works under Jahad and Wingtree, she still desires a world outside of the norm. I wonder if meeting Phantaminum really broadened her horizons that much?
-Love seeing all the buildup just to get to Bam being eaten. It’s a great way to subvert expectations from him just cutting it normally. Also in the manwha, Yuri says the needle is for stabs and pierces, probably giving Bam the idea of entering the eel.
-Also Yuri for best big sister in anime pls.
-”Welp, let’s go home”
-Yuri was about to try and punt an administrator. How can she walk in such dense shinsu with balls as heavy as hers
-Can we talk about the amount of trust in Yuri and Evan’s relationship. Sure, Yuri protested when grabbed by Evan, but when she heard that Bam had taken the right path she immediately stopped fighting or rushing to break in there. Even if she couldn’t figure out what the path was supposed to be, she believed in Evan’s words that Bam had done it right and stopped fighting.
-Bam’s gonna need a bath
-I love these two shots. Just the raw determination Bam has is inspiring. We should all be like Bam, except maybe focus that determination into a hobby or work instead of stalking a girl.
-Yuri about to punt Headon part 2
-This scene had me tearing up. No matter how horribly the two’s relationship progresses in the future, this scene will always be sweet because it’s the two’s raw, positive emotion. Bam was stuck down there for weeks, months, maybe even years, and finally someone comes along and says they’ll be there with him. Even if he didn’t leave the cave, his world got brighter just by having Rachel there. I’m glad they included this scene because it shows why Bam is so desperate to get Rachel back, to get his light back.
-This is precious
-I can’t believe I’m actually saying this but Rachel looks adorable
-These shots are so simple yet so powerful. If only they could have stayed like this
-Bam is smooth. This dude spent years in a dark hole with no one to talk to and yet he can still pick up girls. Also I think this scene shows that Bam and Rachel have more of a sibling relationship. Ruffling his hair is more of a big sister type of thing.
-Based on Yuri’s reaction, this is probably the most determined she’s seen Evan
-Black March is top tier waifu material even though she’s just a needle. I like that the animators made her look more mature. It shows that she’s an old weapon without needing to say it.
-BEGONE THOT
-I love how Black March’s preference in men was a superstition. Also can we talk about Evan’s face in the last panel? It’s beautiful.
-Honestly, it’s hard to tell who’s in charge of who
-That feeling when a sexy, needle lady will never hold you in her arms, why even live?
-I love how Bam’s first reaction to entering a new place was to eat it’s grass. Bless this precious child
-And finally, it ends off with the RaKhunBam trio. I’m so happy to see all three of them together.
This episode had it’s good points and it’s bad points but either way I’m excited for the rest of this journey, especially seeing the anime onlys reactions.

written for @khunbamweek; day 1: hair. enjoy!!
read on ao3.
Bam had always thought that Khun's hair would be as soft as silk.
Maybe even softer, like touching clouds and feathers and cotton balls, and maybe even precious like flower petals. Ever since the time they first met, when he was still confused about how the world worked and despairing over someone else, he had always been firm on his belief.
It was a triumph coming to know he wasn’t wrong. The time he had been proven right, he was at first focusing more on the words coming out of Khun’s mouth. Then the pad of his fingers had been tracing the porcelain skin parading as Khun’s cheeks. Then the diminishing proximity between their faces became his focus as his mouth started to get busy molding and tasting the sweetness of a certain pair of lips.
Bam hadn’t been really able to think, heart and mind fixated on the heat of skin meeting skin. On their kiss. Their first-ever kiss. But his fingers had moved from the back of Khun’s neck to began treading through the almost silver tresses, mussing it up, and when his brain gained its thinking function after their nth kiss, he had a hard time letting go. Of Khun in general, to be honest, but especially of the soft locks crowning his head.
So, they had to kiss some more until Bam felt like he had glued his fingers in Khun's hair and his lips were swollen pink, tingling and smiling.
“You love the ponytail, don't you?” Khun had asked him one day. They were about to go to an amusement park for their date. But the sky had been too bright, the sun greeting them way too enthusiastically. So, Bam’s brilliant solution was to use one of the bracelets he wore around exactly for the purpose of tying his boyfriend’s hair. The view of Khun’s porcelain neck had made Bam wanted to latch his face on it, painted a bruising color the shape of his mouth, but the ponytail had made him stare unblinking. And of course, Khun caught him on it.
“For the record,” added the gorgeous being holding his hand at that moment when Bam just blinked dumbly at him, absolutely lovesick and, in Endorsi’s words, thoroughly whipped, “I also love your ponytail. It’s cute.”
But Bam didn’t only love the ponytail. He also loved the little side braids. Or when Khun let it loose so that even the gentlest gush of wind could play with the soft locks. Or when it was wet, sopping and glossy, as droplets of water fell from the tips and continued to run through his face, nose and lips, to pool around his collarbones. Or even the messy and curly look he sported when he had just woken up.
He loved everything when it came to Khun’s hair. Or just Khun in general.
Oh, boy. Did he love Khun so much.
That was why, the next time Endorsi asked him to go jewelry shopping with her, he just had to buy it. And by it, he meant a comb made out of silver. It glinted prettily under light, the flower design was painted pure white and it was further decorated with pearls and sapphire crystals.
Khun, hair had grown long enough to be in a bun, had stared at the comb for a long time before saying, “Put it on for me?”
There was no way Bam could say no to that. So, he put it on, put a lingering kiss on the comb, then put another one on Khun’s forehead.
“How are you always so beautiful?” he asked, dazed.
Khun merely smiled at him. He then leaned in closer. Bam had thought he was about to whisper something to him, but he was not entirely correct when Khun instead took a handful of his hair then kissed it gently. Only after that did he finally whisper something, voice a siren’s song, “You say that, but you couldn’t see how your eyes melt into molten gold as you stare unblinkingly at me. That? Now, that is beautiful.”
And then he sealed that with a kiss on the lips.

Tower of god S2 251-260
Ah Urek continues to be awesome. I'm also digging his streetwear look.
When Joe says the people here doubted my words and feared my powers I immediately thought of the jesus meme.
Wait did I see endorsi naruto running in a panel ?
Oh Rachel saves khun , I mean I still hate her but at least she did something good.
Ah Yuri being pissed off at the ankle bracelet thinking it was for house arrest.
Urek strength is really a big think , I liked how he baited joe a d his whole speech about power corrupting Joe and his dream. Also I love how he keeps calling bam baby
Bam has the power of the administrator ? How many power ups he is going to get?
I'm a bit confused about beta , has he appeared before ?, I don't remember him before the explanation about the enna core .
Oh even the red thyssa is now inside bam , isn't it getting crowded in there ?.
Khun and bam finally reuniting is the thing I needed , now I'm in peace.
Oh so Urek calls all of them babies , not just bam because for him they are babies , I like this running joke of him being a pervert. Everyone being so concerned about urek and bam hilarious.
Oh the meta joke about panels , khun is right we are entering the major leagues.
Pink kid sleeps and is nicknamed snorlax , SIU is a Pokemon fan too.
Basically joe's history is like an incel radicalizing but in a fantasy way.
Ah Hoaquin finally gets a power up but most important a new outfit. He is pretty now.
Oh my God I finally get to see the leader of one of the ten families and he looks like light yagami ? All that hype for a guy who is middle aged kura.
Even everything is going just according to keikaku !! I like this smug bastard and his atrocious fashion sense
Omg so he recognizes bam as Arlene's son ? He even talks bad about his father , I feel like the original climb of the tower with jahad was just full of drama.
Rak is back !!! And he is in the virtual floor , !!! I can't cope with all this tension I need to see young jahad.
Omg farewells always make me sad , urek mazino is such an awesome character , I wish to see him more.
Rachel is someone's pawn and now she has a mysterious power!!!
Okay I can't wait to read more , this is a top tier series and I'm very invested.

if you want: fantasy (generic but hey) / a handful of interesting side characters / nice character designs (mostly) / story has potential but very weak here
Okay, actually? I liked “Tower of God”.
Indeed, it’s riddled with most of the nonsense I usually tear apart without any guilt whatsoever but I had 0 expectations for this. Most of the people who were disappointed by the anime seemed to have expected something. Oh not me, actually, based on the cover art I thought this was going to be as bad as most isekai stuff I review (this isn’t an isekai btw).
So, let’s state that as usual, the only thing interesting about the male protagonist is that he has 2 names for no reason whatsoever. See, this anime was based on a manhwa which is Korean and his name in that is “Bam” literally meaning “Night” in Korean. In the subs, that’s his name but in the Japanese dub he is called “Yoru” which also means night but in Japanese. This is confusing to me because unless I was hallucinating, I’m pretty sure one of the characters was referred to by a Chinese name which by the way isn’t even his actual name in the Manhwa.
My answer to all this is mostly “Eh, whatever” which is generally how I approached this whole anime. Sometimes, I do want to turn my brain off with non SoL and ToG didn’t frustrate me to the point of wanting to punch the screen (a few eye-rolls did happen though) so that’s why I can’t really pinpoint what was bad or good, it just was.
The main character of previously mentioned Bam is as basic as you can get. Short brown hair, has amnesia and has apparently been stuck in some cave the whole time after he regained consciousness. Yeah, he is the empty canvas with the plot armour and the very *convenient* powers he gets. His only place in the story is tha because he is “untainted” by the problems of the real world, all the others accept and flock around him because he is... positive??? I guess??
Anyway, cue the rest of the cast who actually carry the show. The plot of ToG is that people who live in some...other place in the tower (we don’t get any explanation to the outlay of the world this story takes place in) want to and are chosen to climb the Tower and if you reach the top it’ll be like... very cool. I guess? We get no explanation what’s there or how it works. So Bam encounters 1 smartie pants guy called Khun and a screaming giant alligator looking thing called Rak. Through *spoilers* the 3 team up and they are supposed to carry the first half of the anime exceptttt the only interesting among them is Khun. Rak is a comic relief and the MC is... yeah. After a certain test, the rest of the cast get more spotlight, some background story exposision dumps happen. It’s good enough and I did come to like some of the cast but the amount of comic reliefs was way too much. The most interesting characters are definitely Endorsi and Anaak from the participants and the test administrators. All 5 of these characters are closely tied to the Tower and its history itself which is probably why they’re more interesting than the bumbling buffoons who have no idea what’s going on 90% of the time.
There’re some plot inconsistencies that confused me, like how the first Test is a battle royal but then in another Test when one of the characters is threatening another with a knife, the test admin is really freaking out over it... why? It made NO sense. He must’ve seen countless participants slaughter each other, hell, they MAKE them do it so his reaction made no sense to me. But that’s looking deeper into the anime which you must NOT do under any circumstances if you wanna have fun!
The ending is... very frustrating. Like VERY. And considering that I don’t have time to read manhwa OR manga and I don’t know if they will make a follow up, I’m even more pissed. By the way, this anime is best binged. The episodes cut off at really random moments and the flow of it can really be disrupted if you just watch EP by EP.
Now, the technical stuff is very dependant on what you like. I personally really like this more simplistic art style with barely any shading which makes the colours pop more. I already liked the OP and EDs before I even watched this anime as they’re by a Korean boy group called Stray Kids. It’s a mix of pop and rap (as is SK’s style, just toned down a bit). I can’t recall the OST which means it was good and didn’t interfere with my experience.
Closing off, if you go into this not expecting ANYTHING and like fantasy, interesting character designs with motivations and can turn a blind eye to certaint plot inconsistencies and kind of unexpected behaviour by some of the cast, you’ll be able to chill like I did. But... I almost want to tell you to skip the final EP. Cause FU****

Wait no I am ready for that conversation
Both Endorsi and Khun, strong and knowledgeable about the tower thanks to their families, notice these weak and confused kids who seem to come from another world. They decide to team up with them because they feel like it would be interesting
Now, why did Khun and Bam got closer while Endorsi and Rachel didn't?
It may be because they had less tests together. After teaming up, Rakhunbam took two other tests before the crown one, while Rachel and Endorsi went straight to it.
Also their third member didn't talk, contrary to Rak. Dealing with a thid difficult person will often make you feel closer (and Rak was certainly difficult to deal with at the beginning)
Khun and Endorsi had similar personalities, over confident and full of trust issues. But while Khun was focused on Bam, Endorsi noticed Anaak early, and her focused shifted from the intriguing Rachel to her forbidden niece.
Now despite all that, Endorsi could have stayed intersted in Rachel. I think the most important reason why she didn't is the same as always: Rachel's personality is different from Bam's. Bam didn't just train hard - they probably all did, including Rachel. Bam went out of his way to befriend people. With a little help, he managed to bring together most of the regulars. Meanwhile, it feels like Rachel stayed on her own, avoiding people. And the greatest tragedy here is that she did it to avoid Bam.
I think that Rachel could have had the same relationship with Endorsi than Bam has with Khun, but only if Bam hadn't been there
Rachel's first meeting with Endorsi is literally the same as Bam's first meeting with Khun, but we're not ready for that conversation.
#tower of god#hi welcome to my 'Rachel is actually right about Bam being the reason she can't be the protagonist' agenda#even if it was true it doesn't excuse the way she acts and she's fully responsible for becoming the antagonist#she could probaly have become a rival but she did unforgivable things and went full villain on her own#also hi sorry for rambling so much but I adore these parallels!!
