This show continues to astound me. Faifah's reaction to rejecting Jan was so funny, I almost cried. I love seeing his growth from interacting with Wine. Also shipper pair Arm and Gun? We love to see it. I love their friendship so much. The way they're looking out for both Wine and Faifah is so sweet.

I also loved how we got to see Yotha threatening someone for Faifah's safety. As if to say, Yotha may have stopped fighting for Gun's sake, but he's not afraid to throw down for his baby brother's protection. I'm scared for the preview for next week though...Faifah and Wine look too happy. How is Tor going to stir the pot?

Ossan's Love TH (Mondays, 11/12)

NOOOOO MO! WHYYYY? There was so much chaos yesterday. Mo pretending Chicha was Heng's partner, then Mo broke up with Heng? Now it looks like Kongdech is going to try to get with Heng again (that man needs to stop). I need Heng and Mo together again. P'Meow needs to step in and save the day.

The Witch 마녀 (Sat & Sun, FINALE)

The witch is just so interesting!!! I got hooked from episode one. Every time you think you know what's happening, you don't! All of my theories have been destroyed. I keep gushing to my wife about this show. Damn, Park Jinyoung can really pick em. Istg tho if this doesn't have a happy ending I will die.

Boys Journey Outing: Fun Outside the House (Fridays, 7/10)

This isn't a drama, but it's the variety show hyping Pit Babe 2, so I'm counting it. Season 1 of this show was hit or miss with how funny it was, but damn this season is hilarious. So many cute moments - the PingNut is real y'all - but also such good friendship vibes. I love to see the Pit Babe boys being besties.

9-1-1 REACTION

This reaction is for the season 5, eleventh episode titled “Outside Looking In” which originally aired on March 21, 2022. The episode was written by Bob Goodman and directed by Shauna Duggins. Spoilers ahead!

So, as I’ve alluded to before, I’m a huge fan of the OG series. I started off watching Lone Star at the very beginning of the pandemic and once I got caught up on the episodes, I decided to give the original 911 series a shot. I fell in love with the show immediately. As a huge fan of American Horror Story which is also created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, a lot of me being drawn to the show had to do with Angela Bassett and Connie Britton. When I found out the show also featured Peter Krause from Six Feet Under and Aisha Hinds from Under the Dome, I knew this show, like it’s successor, would be something special.

With that said, now that 911 is back from its three-month hiatus, I thought I would start penning reactions to the episodes like I do for Lone Star and New Amsterdam. When we last left off with the 118, Chimney had gone off in search of Maddie, Michael and David moved to Haiti, and Eddie quit so he could pursue a first-responder job that was less dangerous than being a paramedic. With Chimney being on leave and Eddie changing jobs, that has left two vacancies at the 118.

We start off “Outside Looking In” with an emergency at a quinceanera. I love the whole bait and switch in this segment because the last time we saw a young girl attached to a balloon, she was carried up, up, and away and required rescuing. The emergency at the birthday party doesn’t actually involve the birthday girl or any of the party goers but it does involve a man who was paragliding and due to one of those fierce Santa Ana winds, he ended up crashing through a roof. The 118 shows up but our lineup here is different. Bobby leads Buck, Hen, Ravi, and the latest temp named Jonah (Bryce Durfee) who has been partnered with fellow paramedic Hen. Hen is not too happy about having him around and refuses to call him by his actual name. She calls him Monday because she doesn’t trust that he will show up for Tuesday like the many, many temps who came before him. Jonah takes this in stride and the two of them head up to the roof to access the damages to our paraglider. He appears to be in a lot of pain, but he is stuck inside the roof. They determine that he still has function of his limbs, so they aren’t looking at any kind of spinal trauma. Meanwhile Bobby and Buck enter through the house and discover both the paraglider’s legs broken due to him hitting the roof feet first. The 118 are able to save the day but Eddie and Chimney’s absences are very apparent.

Speaking of Eddie, our resident hottie firefighter seemingly has everything he has ever wanted. Not only does he have ample amount of time to get in a workout in the morning, he also has time to cook breakfast for Christopher and take him to school before his shift at 911 dispatch begins. Eddie also appears to be well-liked by his new coworkers – May, Josh, and Linda – and he seems very handy when it comes to fixing the copy machine. The guy even has his own office which is pretty sweet considering he is the new kid on the block, and no one seems to hold it against him. Having seen previews for the episode prior to it airing, I was under the assumption that Eddie was going to be a dispatch just like Maddie and I even questioned why he wasn’t wearing the blue uniform that the other 911 dispatchers are wearing. However, it is pointed out by Josh that Eddie’s current position was made possible by Bobby calling in a favor. Rather than take emergency calls, Eddie sits in an office all day and monitors the roads and highways in LA.

Eddie seems convinced that this new life of his is best, but Buck’s not so sure. While having dinner with Taylor and Christopher, Buck finally confronts Eddie about when he is coming back to the 118 and in his first asshole move of the episode, Eddie tells Buck to get over it because he has. This little moment right here had me clutching my invisible pearls and then soon thereafter I got a bit annoyed with Eddie. I’ll go ahead and say it – Buck is one of my favorite characters on the show. Yes, he can be a hot mess at times, especially when it comes to his romantic life and his impulsiveness when it comes to the job. However, of all the characters on this show, Buck is the most loyal. He loves his friends and family but the some of the other characters, ahem Chimney and Eddie, are kind of shitty towards him at times, especially when Buck is the type who would literally give his life for any of the 118 and has proven so on many occasions. Now I know some of you will jump to Eddie’s defense and say that him lashing out at Buck in that manner was just him projecting – and I totally agree – but Eddie has had a tendency of doing similar things prior to this which leads me to believe it’s a character flaw that needs to be addressed.

Back at the 118, Hen is still keeping Jonah at arm’s length which would make way more sense if this was coming from any of the other characters. Back in season 2, we got “Hen Begins” which tells the story of how Henrietta Wilson came to the 118 as the only woman, only Black person, and only out lesbian. The hardships that Hen faced were so unnecessary and had Chimney not been there, things could’ve been much worst considering the captain they had prior to Bobby taking over. Hen and Chimney’s close friendship has a lot to do with the two of them being able to relate to each other based on their similar experience of being a racial minority in a predominantly white, male-dominated firehouse. With that said, I’d like to think that someone like Hen would be a bit more open to the idea of having someone new at the 118. I get that she is missing Chim like crazy, but I think the Hen I know would’ve been able mourn the temporary (or maybe permanent) absence of her best friend and still be welcoming to any newbies on the squad.

We then head over to the dispatch center where Linda receives a call from a man named Lenny who is driving in a truck with his wife Erica and their twins Trenton and Troy on their way home from his mother’s house. When Linda asks him what his emergency is, he tells her that he received a phone call letting him know that his truck has a bomb in it and if he goes under a specific speed limit, the bomb will detonate. Linda thinks it’s a prank which – check out my upcoming reaction to the latest Lone Star episode – and is about to hang up the call when Lenny says that he sees the bomb in the compartment between he and his wife’s seats. Linda dispatches Athena, the 118 and the 147. They manage to shut down the stretch of road Lenny is driving down and Buck sees a fellow first-responder Lucy Donato (Arielle Kebbel) jump from her rig into the bed of Lenny’s pickup.  Buck follows suit and with the assistance of Ravi, the two of them are able to get the boys out of the back of the pickup.

Lenny’s wife – Erica – tries to convince him to swap places with her so that he can escape first because she believes it would be better for the boys to have their dad and she really doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life being hated by his mom, especially if he is no longer there to diffuse the situation. Athena hears this conversation and tells Erica that her husband Bobby had to put up with the same sort of behavior from her mother and the only way that things change is that Bobby had to make her mother feel useful. Erica agrees to stay put and she is pulled from the vehicle by Buck and Lucy. Now it’s Lenny’s turn and Lucy has a brilliant move where she uses her hammer to lodge between the floorboard and the accelerator to keep the car in motion. Meanwhile, she manages to pull Lenny free of the vehicle. All family members plus Buck and Lucy are safely loaded back on the rig before the pickup collides with a barrier and explodes. Again, the 118 saves the day! I must say, this scene, although very reminiscent of one of my favorite Keanu Reeves films Speed was very exciting and I loved seeing Buck work with someone for a change who is just as impulsive and risk-taking as he is.

So let me back up a bit. While all of this is going on, Eddie happens to overhear Linda taking the call. He then commandeers her call to advise Athena and the 118 that if the driver, Lenny, gets out of his seat, it can trigger a pressure switch to go off. Eddie does aid in saving the day and his coworkers, including Josh, seem genuinely thankful for his intervention. However, Josh informs Eddie that what he did was against protocol and if he truly felt the need to relay that information, he needed to come to Josh first. Josh rightfully tells Eddie that he is here as a liaison for the LAFD and that he overstepped his boundaries. Josh is 100% in the right about this, and I think he was correct to chastise Eddie for his actions. So much of being a 911 dispatch is establishing a report with the person who is calling, and you often don’t have a lot of time to do that. Changing callers so abruptly in the middle of an emergency call could have resulted in an even more dangerous situation. Even though I hated to see Eddie get reprimanded, his actions were further proof that where he needs to be is with the 118.

Bobby, Hen, Buck, Ravi, Jonah, and Lucy from the 147 meet at a bar afterwards to burn some steam after their daring rescue. Unbeknownst to all but Ravi, Eddie shows up but promptly leaves when he sees them all having a good time without him. Eddie feels like he is replaced, which a part of me gets. But I also wanted to reach my hands through the TV and shake him and remind him that he is the one who made the decision to leave, even if he left because he thought it was what his son wanted, and, therefore, he shouldn’t blame the others for moving on and finding someone to fill the spot that he gave up back during Christmas.

Hen and Jonah finally talk, and Jonah admits to her that he is nervous working with the 118, especially her, because their reputation is well-known within LA. He worries that he won’t be able to keep up. Hen does the right thing by reminding him he is a good paramedic, and she provides some context as to why she has been particularly dismissive and cold towards him. She talks about how her and Chimney weren’t just coworkers – they were best/are best friends, and it’s hard for her not having him there with her on calls. Jonah tells Hen that he doesn’t want to replace Chimney and we finally see the ice start to melt as far as these two are concerned. I don’t know how long Jonah will be around, but I really like him as a character.

At Bobby and Athena’s place, Bobby is lamenting to his wife that he is feeling more like a matchmaker than a captain as of late because rather than hire two qualified, hard-working people to fill the vacancies on his team, he is working overtime to find two individuals who will work best with Buck and Hen. Athena, in all her infinite wisdom, suggests that maybe Bobby is having a hard time with making a decision because it’s also Bobby who is nervous about moving forward. Meanwhile, we head back to the bar where Buck and Lucy are playing pool. Buck seems genuinely in awe of her, but I think initially it’s because he sees a lot of himself in her and vice-versa. Another thing the two of them have in common is their impetuousness when it comes to matters of the heart (and the flesh). Lucy kisses Buck and Buck kisses her back. Yes, there is a hesitation, at first, on Buck’s part but his lips were just as into the kiss and Lucy was.

Hen picks up Buck from the bar and on the way home, Buck does admit that Lucy kissed him. When Hen presses him for additional information, he does get around to admitting that he kissed Lucy back. He asks Hen if he should tell Taylor and what I love most about this scene is that Hen’s reaction is so honest. It would’ve been easy for her to take the high road and stick with it by telling him to tell Taylor but having been through this very situation back in season 1 with her wife, Karen, Hen goes back and forth on whether or not it’s better to be honest or is it better to not hurt Taylor. She finally makes the decision for Buck and reminds him that he is a terrible liar so being honest with Taylor is his best bet. Yay for this pairing that we don’t always get to see very often. What I love most about Hen when it comes to Buck is that while she will be the first to admit that he gets on her nerves, she is the first person to defend him when Eddie or Chimney or Bobby are frustrated with him. Hen is a good big sister to Buck which is nice to see considering his actual big sister isn’t able to be there for him during this time. I hope we get to see more of this dynamic in the future.

Eddie’s having trouble sleeping after his meeting with Josh and when Christopher confronts him about it, he tells Christopher that he is still adjusting to being on a different schedule. My boy Christopher ain’t a fool and he point blank asks his dad why he isn’t a firefighter anymore. Eddie tells Christopher that he quit because of him, and Christopher is like, oh hell no – you are not about to use me to justify your bad decision Christopher says that while he worries about his dad, he understands that his job is important. Good for Christopher in this scene. This does give Eddie the kick in the air that he needs (and deserves) to help him come to terms with how unhappy he is being away from the 118. He goes to Bobby with a form in his hand requesting to be put back with the 118. Bobby says, hey, that’s great and all but are you even ready to come back yet? Eddie is adamant that he is and Bobby reminds him again of the very reason why he left in the first place. He then tells Eddie that in order for him to come back, he will need to undergo counseling which angers Eddie and leaves to another asshole move. Eddie insists that Bobby is punishing him and brings up the fact that he stood up in support of Bobby when Bobby was being questioned about the tragedy that took place in Minnesota. This was so low on Eddie’s part. The fact that Bobby was transparent with his coworkers about what happened to his family and all those other people who tragically lost their lives partly because of his actions, that demonstrated that Bobby was finally able to deal with the demons of his past and also showed that he considered the 118 and Athena and her children as his new family. Bobby was there for Eddie when Shannon died. Bobby has gone out of his way on countless occasions to be there for every single person in the 118 and for Eddie to say what he said honestly deserved a punch to the face. Knowing who Bobby is and how he ultimately operates, he will end up forgiving Eddie and it will all be water under the bridge but Eddie, this was not a good look for you!

We join Athena who is responding to a call where a couple is arguing with their neighbor who is a bit of a hoarder (remember season 1 with the blind guy and his brother – yeah, it’s that level of hoarding). The neighbor is stilling things from other people’s yards in the neighborhood and people are starting to get fed up. Athena notices Eric across the street at her house and learns that her and her family are moving in with her mother-in-law whom she has managed to patch things up with. Erica mentions that her husband Lenny filed a complaint about their hoarder neighbor but never got around to going to the hearing because of the emergency. Athena suspects that the neighbor – Kurt Engler – may be the one responsible for the bomb inside the family’s pickup so she goes after him and ends up pushing a stack of junk on top of him to subdue him. Athena saves the day!

Meanwhile, Buck flakes out on coming clean to Taylor and Hen rightfully calls him out on it. Instead, he asks her to move in and Hen tells him that the two of them living under the same roof together are only going to make things worse. Hen suspects Buck is running from something and asks him what he’s gonna do about Lucy. Buck says he will never have to see her again which is ridiculous because they are in the same line of work and even if she never joins the 118, there is still always the chance that they will end up working the same emergency in the future. Ravi walks up to them and mentions that Eddie was at the bar the night they all got together and when he tried talking to him in the parking lot, he was very dismissive of him. Yet another asshole move from Eddie. Hen and Buck are shocked by this news, but the shock is short-lived when Bobby announces he has hired two permanent positions with the 118. Jonah and Lucy are announced as Chimney and Eddie’s replacements and Buck and Hen are shooketh.

This episode was pretty great. I believe I mentioned before that this season of 911 has felt a bit disjointed mostly because we have lost so many characters, some temporarily (Chimney and Maddie), and some of them seemingly permanent (Michael and David). Not to mention the pandemic has definitely affected how the show is shot. I noticed early on this season that we don’t see a lot of scenes like we used to where most of the cast are together. I wish there was more Karen and Carla. I hate that we said goodbye to Hen’s mom who I really liked as a character. Mostly the season has just felt like it was missing something. This episode feels like a shift towards getting the old dynamic back. Realistically speaking, we need to take time to develop Chimney and Maddie’s stories since they have been away for so long, but I am so excited they are coming back in the next episode. I hope we get Eddie back sooner rather than later. I would even like another crossover episode with the OG series and Lone Star, maybe focusing on characters we didn’t get to see in the first crossover. I would love to Grace to meet Maddie and have the two of them bond over being dispatchers, new mothers, and partners to firefighters. I’d also love to see Athena and Carlos mentor. They are both two POC characters working in law enforcement, and I think Athena could give him some great advice. Needless to say, I will never give up on my OG series and I look forward to doing more of these reactions for the remainder of season 5. Until next time!

Whoops, yep, that was me lol. I need to remember to sign my shit. Anyhow, sneak peeks have been released and I am vaguely hopeful for a decent finale which makes the season 3 news even sweeter! Roll on an action filled finale! (Vix)

Surprisingly enough, I was actually pretty happy on behalf of Higgins’s character because (I only saw the preview with Magnum out kayaking) it means she actually did the right thing and backed out of the marriage with TC. I want to like her, I do, but holy mother of christmas, they make it really hard sometimes (and that’s really failing the character). I want team stories. There’s like...5 main characters in MacGyver ::counts quickly:: Never mind, 6. And rarely do they have an episode where it isn’t all 6 on one mission, or contributing in some way, and for a show that’s called MacGyver, they have more than just one person helping him out in various scenarios - it’s all based on what the mission/case is - and sometimes, they get to be the main character with Mac helping them. And that’s what I want for Magnum. For them to rotate or be involved without having these weird, parallel side plots with TC and Rick where they don’t interact with their friend at all.  

Monday is for Murder? Hell yes. Even did credit to Higgins and Rick by having some character development on Juliet’s part, and on Magnum’s end via Rick. Blood Brothers? HANDS DOWN, THE BEST OF THE SEASON. Day I Met the Devil? A WHOLE TEAM GOES DOWN TO RESCUE THOMAS?! HELL TO THE YEAH. 

But really...if they made some mention of why Higgins didn’t want to go back to England, I might understand a little better why she (up until this episode) was willing to break several major laws and risk being banned from the country for a decade to not go back and file paperwork for 6 months. Because we’ve already proven that in the most miserable of circumstances, 8 weeks goes by pretty quickly. Another 24 isn’t going to kill her. And like...I’d get it if it was some place like Venezuela, or North Korea, or half the countries that end in -stan. But...England? I mean, your traffic sucks, and that VAT is pretty annoying, and it’s (supposedly) rainy a lot of the time, but it’s not like it isn’t also a major tourist destination with the US. Real world virus problems aside, you guys got something going on that the rest of us don’t know about?

Unsolicited, but I’ll talk about Shiv and Tom

(This is a very long post) (SPOILER ALERT too)

First of all, I’d like to be very clear that I have always loved their relationship - good times and bad times; even when it seemed like a mismatch, even when it felt like a toxic relationship, when he seemed to care for her more than she does him, when she seemed to not care at all, yeah, even then.

Because even then their relationship felt true despite a lot of things. I guess that’s what always mattered to me. 

We know how much Tom loves Shiv. He says it. He acts it. With Shiv, on the other hand, it’s like there’s always this question hanging above: “Why is she with him when she doesn’t seem to care for him at all?” I’ve seen Shiv do something that completely questions the sincerity of their relationship, but there’s also something about the way she acts while this sincerity is being put into question that makes me feel that maybe it’s just an act, a facade to hide away her true feelings.

You can imagine how this season finale really got to me. It felt like my thoughts were put into writing put into moving picture.

I’ve always believed in them. Sure, this season really was a test of my belief, (I certainly reached the point when I doubted the sincerity that I was sensing since Season 1), but season finale put my mind and heart at ease.

Let’s break it down:

PRE-EPISODE 10

1. The ‘blood sacrifice’ made me extremely nervous. I talked about it pretty extensively (and confusingly?) in my last text post. With this season being Shiv-focused, it would make sense that Tom ends up to be the sacrificial lamb. Even if he doesn’t end up to be, I figured just the idea of him being sacrificed might cause some friction with his relationship with Shiv. The question lies in whether or not she will be complicit in his possible demise. Or whether she would actively help getting him out of that situation if he’s ever placed in it.

Given how she’s acted for the most part of the past couple of episodes, my belief was certainly wavering. Most evidence points to, “If he’s chosen to be sacrificed, she will be happy to bring him to the chopping block.” But part of me refused to believe that what I was sensing was an illusion; a creation of the mind that desperately wants to believe that there’s something pure about these vile characters, some light to hold on to. Maybe I am trying to hold on to something “good”, but I can feel it in my freaking guts that there’s more to Shiv Roy than being Shiv “fucking” Roy.

2. The preview text for this episode states, “Shiv proposes taking her open marriage with Tom to another level,” and then there was the clip from the preview when they were on the beach looking like they just finished a heavy conversation.

 Of course my stream of thoughts took me to the direction of “Shiv will ask for divorce?!” because what other levels are there after an open relationship? (Having never been in a relationship I guess I should have expected that people get creative.) Tying this with the previous idea, I kinda panicked. Why would she ask for a divorce if she doesn’t want to extricate herself from the mess of being the wife of the fallen ‘Roy’? Which would mean that Tom ends up as the sacrifice which would mean that even if she didn’t have a hand on placing him there, she didn’t do anything for him either.

My mind was everywhere. I think I was doing statistical probability even in my sleep. This was such a crucial moment for them that I know my questions and doubts will be answered whether I like the answers or not. 

So I came home from work (it’s Monday evening here), wanting to devour the episode and savor every minute of it as well. This is it, I thought. What I’ve been waiting for and what I’ve been dreading.

DURING EPISODE 10

3. The dining room scene. When everyone was pointing fingers at each other I knew it was only a bit of time before they point it at Tom, and AGAIN, I’m just nervous how Shiv’s going to react to this. THIS IS CRUCIAL. When they started to propose the idea of Tom as the sacrifice, Shiv can be seen struggling.

She knew this would come. She knew she’d need to say something, and she knew it was something that he’s not gonna like. When they were ganging up on him, she looked like she wanted to defend him in front of them but was trying hard not to. The strategic, political Shiv kicked in.

It’s logical to not side with him. That move also has the added bonus of not making her look vulnerable in front of the entire family and general counsel. 

You can see it wasn’t easy for her to say that Tom makes sense because he’s family but also not family.

4. The beach scene. I liked that she offered to talk. She offered the ‘I love you’ to set him at ease. To tell him that her actions were made out of love. And when this didn’t work, she told him she wouldn’t let anything happen to him. 

She was clearly uncomfortable to say it but she knows she has to because this is what’s bugging him. She get that he thinks she’s putting him aside like all those other times she did. She was uncomfortable though, not because it isn’t true but because that territory is foreign.

Then the heavy talk came in. Man, it would be a lie if I say I wasn’t waiting for them to have that conversation for some time now. If they are to be equals (some time in the future hopefully like a true married couple), conversation helps A LOT. Putting your thoughts and feelings on a platter and serving it up to your partner real nice develops a healthy relationship that builds on trust and love and all those things.

I was hurting when he said “I love you. I do. But I wonder if the sad I’d be without you would be less than the sad I get from being with you.” 

I FELT THAT. Like WOW! TOM?! I also felt that divorce is just hanging around. And that freaking scared me! Because right then and there I was sure that the sense was justified. It’s there. They care for each other. She loves Tom. She cares for him more than she lets on, more than it seems, but she does. So why should they separate just when the true feelings are out?!

5. Shiv’s talk with Logan. 

If one needs more proof about Shiv’s sincerity, this was it. Apparently when Logan told her about the blood sacrifice last episode she already offered someone else, someone not Tom (not happy it’s Kendall but that’s another story). She did that for Tom prior to the heavy talk. This wasn’t some last minute attempt to give Tom a reason not to continue with the divorce. She would protect him even when he didn’t ask for her protection. If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is. She even let go of her chance for CEO. Logan asked her opinion again. He reminded her to set her feelings aside and go for the kill if that’s what’s necessary, and she explicitly told him that she can’t choose. Not when it comes down to Tom or anything else. Her choice is Tom, and not even CEO-ship can change that. 

So there ya go, this relationship makes sense, and I love it! 

I was previously told that this isn’t a relationship to root for and that they hope I was kidding. I said I wasn’t kidding and I ain’t kidding now. It’s clearly not perfect: There’s infidelity, an open relationship that’s one-sided, and sometimes Shiv was just outright bullying him. But there’s hope. It’s that hope that this bond will only strengthen and grow into a beautiful thing that I’m rooting for. It’s these crazy individuals that found comfort in each other and would fight for the other that I’m rooting for. That hope is there, and I’m here for it.

To end this, I like to applaud the writing of these wonderfully flawed characters and the brilliant portrayal of them by Sarah Snook and Matthew Macfadyen. These thoughts and feelings that I have right now wouldn’t be possible if they didn’t make such a damn good job. I’m certainly looking forward to what they have in store for them for Season 3 (and many more seasons, please!) I hope that when this show ends they get the happiest ever after they could possibly have.

Weekly Recap #56 (November 19 – November 25, 2018)

It’s already the last week of the comeback promotions! The time flew by so fast, but we had an amazing time together with TWICE once again! The performances at music shows were so exciting to watch and their live vocals were unbelievable!

Here’s what happened this week:

November 19 - Right at the wee hours of Monday morning, IU’s #1 fan Nayeon uploaded an IG story proudly showing her IU lightstick together with a fan of IU. Later that day, Korean news pages reported about TWICE’s appearance at IU’s concert.

The 3rd episode of TWICE TV YES or YES was released today as well: This time the whole episode was about Momo.

Momo and Sana also posted some pictures on IG, they are getting prettier and prettier with each day~

The day ended with a Vlive preview of Chaeyoung attending Dispatch Christmas ‘Maknae Line’ tomorrow!

November 20 - Tuesday started with us being blessed by Naver releasing pictures from the M/V making!

The Mnet Asian Music Awards released their first relay quiz featuring TWICE as well.

Paper Magazine also released an article about how TWICE went bold!

Moreover, Chaeyoung went live on Vlive with maknaes from other girl groups for Dispatch’s Maknae Christmas Party! 

Once again, Jihyo, Chaeyoung and Sana uploaded some new posts on IG! Aren’t they all pretty?

Later at midnight TWICE released a Twiceland movie preview for the upcoming release in Korean cinemas and it looks so awesome!

November 21 - TWICE received their 4th win with YES or YES today at MBC Show Champion and they deserve it so much!

M2 released the YES or YES selfie M/V as well and there is just nothing more beautiful than seeing TWICE up-close~  

November 22 - Now that this year is about to end, TWICE finally showed us some previews for their 2019 Season’s Greetings which is called “The Roses” and we must say that TWICE are even more beautiful than any rose to exist!

The day then started off with yet another episode of TWICE TV “Yes or Yes” featuring Sana!

Just a bit later it was announced on TWICE’s Japanese Twitter Account that they will be appearing at the Youtube Fanfest on December 11 at Makuhari Messe in Japan.

They posted a preview picture for the pre-order of the Season Greetings at midnight. Is your wallet ready?

November 23 - TWICE went out today for the KBS Music Bank prerecording at 2:30PM which was broadcasted later at 5:00PM where they were able to achieve #2! They are doing great despite a month packed with anticipated releases!

MBC Show Champion released a photo of the girls posing with their trophy from Wednesday and they look so happy with it!

Moreover, there were more photos of TWICE uploaded on Naver but this time during TWICE’s comeback stage at M Countdown! 

TWICE also updated us with videos on IG while they are in the waiting room at Music Bank!

Later that day, M2 finally released the M/V Commentary for the YES or YES music video and it is so much fun to watch!

November 24 - On Saturday, TWICE’s schedule just consisted of their fansign at Hyundae Department U-Plex Jade hall which Tzuyu was sadly not able to attend due to her health condition! Get well soon Tzuyu!

Throughout and after the fansign, Chaeyoung, Momo (1) (2), Nayeon, and Jihyo updated us on IG by showing off Once and the gifts they’ve received at the fansign.

They also revealed a more detailed preview of the 2019 Season’s Greetings!

November 25 - The week is about to end already and with it, another era is about to end. Today is TWICE’s goodbye stage for their promotions at SBS Inkigayo where they changed their OK pose at the end of the song to a finger heart!

They were able to end this amazing era on a high note by getting #2!

The girls also went on Vlive during their free time and we were able to see their dorky and funny side once again.  

After the music show, the girls had their last fansign at Glad Hotel and this time Tzuyu was able to participate again! We’re happy that she was able to recover fast!

Once again, the members (1) (2) went to Instagram and updated photos and videos of themselves thanking ONCE for their constant support throughout Yes or Yes era!

Even after their schedule, Momo decided to go on Vlive where she watched entries for her dance challenge she announced at the end of last week and she had so much fun watching ONCE dancing to YES or YES!

This day marks the end of this era, but don’t be sad! Another era will come soon and it will just be as amazing as this one was!

Well, since the first four episodes (1h00 episodes) aired, I decided to make a review about my first impressions of this drama. Are You Human Too? airs the Monday and Tuesday and so far, it’s absolutely lovely.

I mean, I was always a fan of sci-fi dramas, especially the ones about AI and Dystopia. This one is only about AI, but who cares. I love it.

As the lead, you have the gorgeous Seo KangJoo from 5 Surprise (you know... the group nobody knows about and hasn’t made music in a long period of time because they are actors) and Gong SeungYeon (which I don’t actually remember even if I’ve watched a few dramas in which she starred).

Somehow, I’m really afraid to be disappointed by the following episodes because the start was so great and because I’m afraid they’ll hurt my baby (aka Nam Sin robot).

So, the story is basically that Nam Sin is a rich (and absolutely heinous) heir who has been stolen from his mother after his father’s death by his paternal grandfather. He gets into an accident and his mother (a renowned researcher in AI) who has created an AI similar to her son (to fill the void his kidnapping left in her life) decides to send Nam Sin robot to take the place of her real son while he’s in the coma.

The plot sounds a bit cliché said like that, and it is. I’ll be honest. But the episodes are so well-made that it makes it seems unique.

A plus for me is that there’s a clear distinction between Nam Sin and Nam Sin R. Nam Sin R. is so lovely, innocent and pure that I think it should make us question the nature of the humankind. I mean, the fucking AI is more lovable and selfless than any human in this damn drama! He only wants to be able to live a quiet life with his mother and be “happy”, which everyone refuses to him because he’s just a robot and should follow what they say (my little heart hurts).

The reason why this drama is so great is probably because it follows Nam Sin R. rather than a human character. I don’t want to bash them, but all the human characters are sadly humans. They are selfish, money-centered and ready to hurt everybody to get what they want, which probably make Nam Sin R. even easier to like because he’s so far away from them.

I’m really curious to see how the story will unfold because from what was shown in the preview, the female lead (which isn’t that bad in my opinion and has been hurt a lot by the world to become the person she is) will go away because she’ll discover his nature of robot (and thank god it wasn’t like I Am Not a Robot where the revelation took an eternity to happen).

I have high hopes for this drama and wish it will continue to be as good as it is because now I have a reason to look forward to Monday and Tuesday (I want a new episode now ;w;). If there’s a thing maybe I’m afraid of, it would be the awkward love triangle that might happen quite soon since SoBong seems attracted (?) by Nam Sin R., and the second female lead still believes Nam Sim R. is Nam Sin. Well, I guess only time will tell, but I dearly hope that it won’t have a really silly romance added into it because the story is just amazing so far and it would really spoil it for me.

How did you feel about Hitch’s emotional response to Stohess/Annie’s disappearance?

The overwhelming majority were happy to see that Hitch really does have a caring bone (or rather, quite a lot of them) in her body. A few, however, weren’t impressed. 

Annie, Hitch and Marlo are (or more like were) in a perfectly balanced relationship. Of course Hitch cared! And look how distressed Marlo is! One of his girls went missing :(

It was nice to see that she admitted to others that she cared about Annie in the first place

Erwin's hot af even when he's been beaten up. I'm really enjoying the 104th squad bonding being "criminals" and all. I think Levi is a good leader and Erwin is merciful to warn Nile that the royal government is going down! I'm excited to see more Erwin and 104th. Also my love for Hanji and Moblit is growing.

My favourite episode so far.

Week Two

October 28th Monday

Grocery: Yogurt, orange, Kiwi.

I have an awareness of checking my account balance when I want to buy something now. Thus, when I went to the mall, I try to control my shopping desires. I calculated the money I must spend on rent, the internet, phone bills, electricity and food. Also, I convinced myself that “those items are useless”, or “You may just use them for one time, then, you will never touch them anymore”. It sounds like brainwashing, but it works. And I do not regret it when I back home.

However, I noticed that I have to drink something when I am not at home. This time is tea.

I bought a baking mould last year, but it is so large. I had to use more butter, flour, eggs and sugar when I baked cakes. I bought a smaller one to save ingredients for the next baking. That reminds me to plan well and reduce impulsive consumption.

Handbag for Mom

I bought a coach handbag for my mom when I went to Ottawa Outlets. I considered a lot before I made the decision to buy it. There was a 50% discount and my mom would be happy to receive it. I did not buy something for myself except food, and my brainwashing still worked. Hooray!

I have no driving license because I cannot see the road clearly in the evening. Although I might be a driver in a few years, I have to talk about transport and the environment issue. More and more people own their private cars, no matter new or second-hand cars. We all know the negative influence of exhaust emission from vehicle engines, but we cannot bike in snowy or rainy days, and public transportation cannot depart as your requirement. If we want to take public transportation, we have to follow the time schedule.

I took limocar (from Sherbrooke to Montreal) and greyhound (from Montreal to Ottawa) because I had to go to Ottawa to have an interview for my American visa. Plus, I did not find a carpool. If I could drive and I had a car, I could drive to Ottawa in three and a half hours. However, I spent almost six hours on taking public transportation (limocar and greyhound).

Air pollution pops out in my mind and I would like to discuss a little bit to strengthen my no driving decision. We suffer from a terrible influence on the consumption of fossil fuels. Air pollution is the by-product of economic and industrial development. Air pollution leads to some acute and chronic diseases (Kampa & Castanas, 2008). Some children in Beijing are prone to respiratory diseases because of air pollutants. Franklin, Brook & Arden Pope (2015) also illustrate that some matters of air pollution have negative effect on humans’ cardiovascular system, and those matters increase the incidence rate of cardiovascular diseases. It is urgent to deal with air pollution and maintain environmental sustainability.

In order to find a bright and nice place to study, Shaowei and I went to Starbucks, and I found the words to label ingredients on the cup, sleeve and napkin. The cup, sleeve, and napkin are made with 10%, 85% and 60% of post-consumer recycled fibre, respectively. I found a picture I took for Tim Horton's sleeve. It shows that it includes 85% of post-consumer recycled fibre.

I observed in Starbucks, Tim Hortons and the bus stop café in Nicolls. Most students did not take their cups to buy coffee, and they use takeaway coffee cups. Do you think the paper coffee cup is recyclable? Actually, the answer is NO. The paper coffee cup, so-called poly-coated cup, includes plastic.

Consumers think their disposal coffee cups will be recycled because they throw them into recycling bins. However, those cups end up in landfills.

On October 30th, the CBC marketplace did a test to track the used coffee cups in Toronto. They found that by the end of the day, those coffee cups were found in the garbage only bins, both Starbucks and Tim Horton’s did that. These two coffee giants in Canada claimed that they recycled the used coffee cups, but they lied to citizens and fooled the public. After this news was exposed, Starbucks said they regret and would make progress. Three months later, the CBC marketplace did the same test. Nothing changed in Tim Horton’s. Starbucks set a new category of bins----Mixed recycling. However, the results were the same as three months ago.

Poortinga and Whitaker (2018) illustrate that because of technical, economic and social reasons, disposal coffee cups are hardly recycled. Moreover, people use disposal cups outside of the shops. In other words, those cups hardly back to the shops. The contamination of organic materials may make those cups unrecyclable (Poortinga & Whitaker, 2018).

From my perspective, reducing the utilization of disposal cups can restrict production. Besides the plant consumption in the cup-making process, “disposable coffee cups generate about one-and-a-half times their weight in carbon dioxide emission” (Poortinga & Whitaker, 2018, p. 873).

We cannot ignore individuals’ influence. Mulligan (2014) says that “sustainability needs to be a daily preoccupation for all of us because our capacity to live sustainably begins with our existing environmental impacts and our modes of interacting with other people and society at large” (p. 5). Therefore, to improve environmental sustainability, I will bring my reusable cup.
