Ethernet Is A System For Connecting Number Of Computers To Form A Local Area Network With Protocols To Control The Transmission(Passion Of Information) And To Avoid Simultaneous Transmission By Two Or More Computers.

  EthernetIs A Suite(For A Particular Purpose) Of Technologies Or Protocols That Define Communication At Local Area Network(LAN). Ethernet Is One Of The Technology Used In Local Area Network(LAN). Token Ring,FDDI(Fiber Distributed Data Interface) Are Also Technologies Used In Local Area Network Other Than Ethernet.

  EthernetTechnology Was Developed By XEROX Corporation Company And Over Time It Became The Most Popular And Widely Adopted Technology For Local Area Network. Later On Standardized As IEEE 802.3. ItWas Designed To Use Coaxial Cables For Communication,Coaxial Cable Used As Communication Medium.   In This Multiple Devices(Computers) Are Connected To The Same Coaxial Medium.For Communicating Over The Network.

  It Is A Widely Used Technology Employing A Bus Topology. IEEE Currently Controls The EthernetStandards.   Example - IEEE802.3 Was Published In 1985.   In Its Original Form An EthernetLAN Consists Of Single Coaxial Cable Called Ether, But Often Refereed To As Segment. A Segment Is Limited To 500m In Length, With A Minimum Separation Of 3m Between Each Pair Of Connections.It Operates At 10 Mbps: A Latest Version.   Fast Ethernet Operates At 100Mbps; The Latest Version,Gigabit EthernetOperates At 1,000 Mbps Or 1 Gbps.

  IEEE(Institute Of Electrical And Electronics Engineers) 802.3 Supports A LAN Standard.This Is Called Ethernet. IEEE 802.3 Defines Two Categories-Base band And Broadband.   Computers Using EthernetCommunication Divide Data Streams Into Packets Which As Known As Frames,Frames Includes Source And Destination Address Information, As Well As Mechanism Used To Detect Errors In Transmitted Data And Re transmitted Requests.   EthernetIs A Network Protocol Which Control How Data Is Transmitted Over A Network.Technically It Refereed As IEEE 802.3 Protocol.
