Toyr!se King Exkaiser

This one was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't sure what to expect from Takara's new foray into high end toys, but I think this one turned out pretty cool. It feels very different from The Gattai, too, so if they did a Toyr!se version of, say, Might Gaine, I'd be tempted to pick it up.

The Good: This is a very chunky boi, in the best way possible. While The Gattai feels high end in the way everything moves and transforms, this feels very DX+. It's all big, chunky, clunky movements, everything is ratcheted, it's very self-contained, etc. It makes it very easy to pick up and play with.

Exkaiser has 2 forms, King Roader has 2 forms, and combined they have 2 forms. The motions getting from one form to another are very easy as well. They're also all pretty posable. Not as much as a The Gattai release, but you can get some pretty good dynamic and stoic poses out of both Exkaiser and King Exkaiser. You can also display them separately if you just push the lion mouth out with your fingers.

The Bad: Because this is more closely related to a DX release than a high ender, there are a lot of exposed transformation and combination ports. (This does confirm we'll probably be getting a Dragon Jet, though.) This includes the backside of the sword, which has very large tabs on it for Jet Mode.

While there are a lot of good locking points throughout, there are a few that are a bit harder to get right or that just require basic posing to get right. The wrists are tricky the first few times to get right, there's a shoulder lock that isn't required but makes everything more solid if you can get it to actually lock, and the arms as King Roader you have to pose in place rather than lock.

Overall, I really like this release. It's everything I like about things like Megazords, without all the odd minor tweaks high end toys usually require. I have their Genesic GaoGaiGar on order, so hopefully that one will be equally as fun.

This was a very experimental piece.

This idea was born through the fact my siblings and I noticed Dash Max poses physical similarities to Sunstreaker and Sideswipe.

So we joked the Lambros are his kids.

And their personalities are similar, too. >:)
