@harryandmeghansussex 's Beautiful In Black awards - the holy trinity for me, glowing in Givenchy with an Archie bump as an easy #1, my favourite look from the Irish tour in second, with my favourite remembrance honour type event look from Meg rounding out my top three, but oh there were so many to choose from.
What is your favourite Meg black dress?

With honourable mentions to that dress that was one of my fashion highlights of that tour and such a wow moment, the classic & stunning old Hollywood glamour of the look at the Late Queen's funeral, and the super cute wedding guest look.

me, talking to a friend about writing projects: Do you think that when crinolines and bustles and the like were in fashion all women wore them all the time? I mean, we don't follow all fashion trends in the modern day, do we? And I know they're more manoeuvrable than people realise but there would be some situations in which they'd definitely hamper you. Not to mention undressing, going to the bathroom, and -
friend, wearily: is this for a sex sc -
me: YES OF COURSE IT'S FOR A SEX SCENE
#pray why else would i be worrying about manoeuvrability in a crinoline#writers' problems#history#fashiony stuff

Should I put my downloads up for free on Patreon? I don't plan on doing any early access or anything like that, but I see some creators that don't still will put their stuff up on there. I'll still be uploading everything to SFS too if I do start using Patreon, it's just that SFS is a little unreliable at times and I like how Patreon's interface works for downloads.

even more on-brand for Little to not join Irving and Hodge in their cute drag craft circle, lbr
(not to mention it's fun to analyse their costume choices: Irving choses to be an angel, Hodge is wearing a big ladies' powdered wig in the officer's race and therefore seems to have chosen to be a dignified noblewoman from Days Of Yore, and Little I think just has a paper crown that he takes off as soon as he has a reason to)
It's tough to see since he's way in the back, but from the first shot we can tell it's Hodgson standing up on top of something behind Dundy/by the boat, wearing a blue sweater. And then, in the second, he's turned away, but since we already know it's Hodgson we can see that it looks like he's wearing the same skirt as Irving.

Drawing Dresses Made Easy: Tips and Tricks for Perfecting Your Art
Are you looking to improve your fashion illustration skills and draw stunning dresses with ease? Look no further! Drawing dresses can be a challenging task, even for the most experienced artists. However, with the right tips and tricks, you can perfect your art and create beautiful fashion sketches that capture the essence of your designs. In this guide, we will share some easy-to-follow techniques that will help you create breathtaking dresses that stand out from the rest. From sketching the basic shape to adding intricate details, we will cover all the essential steps you need to know to master the art of dresses drawing easy. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned artist, this guide will provide you with valuable insights that will take your fashion illustrations to the next level. So, grab your sketchbook and let's get started!
Basic Anatomy of a Dress
Before you start drawing dresses, it's important to understand the basic anatomy of a dress. Dresses come in many different shapes and styles, but they all have similar components. The main parts of a dress are the bodice, skirt, and sleeves (if applicable). The bodice is the top part of the dress that covers the torso. The skirt is the bottom part of the dress that covers the legs. The sleeves are the parts that cover the arms (if the dress has sleeves). Understanding the basic structure of a dress will help you to draw dresses that look realistic and proportional.
When drawing a dress, it's important to start with a basic shape that represents the overall silhouette of the dress. For example, if you want to draw a flowy, A-line dress, you would start with a wider, rounded shape for the skirt, and add a narrower shape for the bodice on top. Once you have the basic shape in place, you can start adding more details, such as the neckline, waistline, and hemline.
Another important aspect to keep in mind when drawing dresses is the way the fabric flows and drapes. Different fabrics will drape and flow differently, so keep this in mind when you are drawing. For example, a dress made out of silk will drape differently than a dress made out of cotton. Paying attention to these details will add a level of realism to your dress drawings.
Sketching Techniques for Dresses
Sketching is an important part of the dress design process. It allows you to quickly explore different ideas and concepts without committing to a final design. When sketching dresses, it's important to use light, loose strokes so that you can easily make changes and adjustments as needed. Here are some sketching techniques that will help you to draw dresses with ease:
- **Gesture Drawing**: Gesture drawing is a quick and loose drawing technique that captures the overall movement and flow of a dress. It involves drawing the basic shape of the dress with simple, flowing lines. This technique is great for exploring different design ideas and getting a feel for the overall look of the dress.
- **Block-In Drawing**: Block-in drawing involves drawing the basic shapes and proportions of the dress before adding any details. This technique allows you to establish the overall structure of the dress and make sure that everything is proportional before adding any intricate details.
- **Overlay Drawing**: Overlay drawing involves drawing several versions of the same dress on separate pieces of tracing paper. This technique allows you to experiment with different design elements, such as necklines, sleeves, and hemlines, without having to redraw the entire dress each time.
Tips for Drawing Different Types of Dresses
There are many different types of dresses, each with their own unique style and design. Here are some tips for drawing specific types of dresses:
- **A-Line Dress**: A-line dresses are characterized by their wide, flared skirt and fitted bodice. When drawing an A-line dress, start with a wider, rounded shape for the skirt, and add a narrower shape for the bodice on top. The waistline should be fitted, but not too tight.
- **Ballgown**: Ballgowns are formal dresses that are characterized by their full, voluminous skirts. When drawing a ballgown, start with a wide, rounded shape for the skirt, and add a fitted bodice on top. The skirt should be full and flowing, with lots of layers and volume.
- **Shift Dress**: Shift dresses are simple, straight dresses that do not have a fitted waistline. When drawing a shift dress, start with a rectangular shape for the bodice, and add a straight, narrow skirt on the bottom. The dress should be loose and flowing, with minimal structure.
Adding Details to Your Dress Drawings
Once you have the basic shape of your dress in place, it's time to start adding details. Here are some details that you can add to your dress drawings to make them stand out:
- **Neckline**: The neckline of a dress can drastically change the look and feel of the dress. Experiment with different necklines, such as a scoop neck, halter neck, or off-the-shoulder neckline.
- **Sleeves**: If your dress has sleeves, experiment with different sleeve styles, such as cap sleeves, flutter sleeves, or bell sleeves.
- **Hemline**: The hemline of a dress can also change the overall look of the dress. Experiment with different hemlines, such as a high-low hem, asymmetrical hem, or mermaid hem.
Shading and Coloring Your Dress Drawings
Shading and coloring your dress drawings will add depth and dimension to your designs. When shading, start with the darkest areas of the dress and work your way outwards. Use a blending tool, such as a blending stump or your finger, to blend the shades together for a seamless look. When coloring, choose colors that complement each other and enhance the overall look of the dress.
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Drawing Dresses
Here are some common mistakes to avoid when drawing dresses:
- **Proportions**: Make sure that the proportions of your dress are accurate and realistic. A dress with disproportionate parts will look awkward and unnatural.
- **Fabric Flow**: Pay attention to the way the fabric flows and drapes. Different fabrics will flow and drape differently, so make sure that your dress reflects the type of fabric it is made out of.
- **Details Overload**: Avoid adding too many details to your dress. Too many details can overwhelm the design and take away from the overall look of the dress.
Resources for Improving Your Dress Drawing Skills
If you want to improve your dress drawing skills, there are many resources available to you. Here are some resources that you can use to take your dress drawing to the next level:
- **Online Tutorials**: There are many online tutorials available that will teach you how to draw dresses step-by-step.
- **Books**: There are many books available that cover the basics of dress design and drawing.
- **Classes**: Taking a class or workshop on dress drawing can be a great way to improve your skills and learn new techniques.
Inspiration for Dress Drawing
If you're looking for inspiration for your dress drawings, there are many sources available to you. Here are some places to find inspiration for your dress designs:
- **Fashion Magazines**: Fashion magazines are a great source of inspiration for dress designs.
- **Runway Shows**: Watching runway shows can give you an idea of the latest trends in dress design.
- **Social Media**: Social media platforms, such as Instagram and Pinterest, are great sources of inspiration for dress designs.
Conclusion
Drawing dresses can be a challenging task, but with the right techniques and practice, you can create stunning illustrations that truly capture your vision. Remember to start with the basic shape of the dress, pay attention to the way the fabric flows and drapes, and experiment with different design elements. With time and practice, you'll be able to draw dresses with ease and confidence.
