Hi Sinister, I dont know if this is true or not, but I dont thinka o3 is for fanart, i think they explicity put out a thing recently saying they were cracking down on art in stuff because it wasnt plain writing. I could be wrong though

AO3 is not a fanfiction site, it's a fan works site. All non "ephemeral" fanworks are explicitly allowed, including fanfiction, fanart, animations, amvs, and fanish non-fiction of all kinds.

What they're cracking down on is *non fanworks* that is, posts that aren't fanworks, such as placeholder fics, lists of prompts, etc.

here's an excerpt from the news post they put up recently about the crackdown:

AO3 is an archive for fanworks, not other kinds of content.

AO3 has a very specific purpose: to host fanworks, and only fanworks. Our definition of "fanwork" is broad: fanworks can take many shapes and forms, including fanfiction, fanart, podfics, fanvids, fancrafts, fannish non-fiction, original works, and more.

What are some examples of non-fanworks?

Works that are not fanworks should not be posted to AO3. These include (but are not limited to):

Fic searches or requests for recommendations

Advertisements for roleplay partners or servers

Personal messages to other users

Updates, polls, or announcements

Reaction, blog, or vent posts

Spam, shitposts, or memes

Reposted novels or other published works

Placeholders and other empty works

Links to or lists of works you've read or created

Ideas or prompts for fanworks

Requests for other users to provide you with ideas or prompts for fanworks

Rogue/Gambit Week 2025

Hi everyone. Sorry about the long absence. We're back and so is Rogue/Gambit Week.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who participated in Rogue/Gambit Week 2024. There were so many wonderful contributions to the fanworks celebrating our favorite Southern couple. Rogue/Gambit Week wouldn’t be possible without all of you. Your creativity, your sharing, and encouragement is all part of what makes Rogue/Gambit Week a success.

And now for the announcement you've been waiting for. Rogue/Gambit Week 2025 will be June 15-21, 2025.

We will be taking prompt suggestions February 1-10, 2025. Then, the prompts will be open for voting on prompts will run from February 12-26, 2025 and the prompt reveal will be in early March.

Prompt suggestions can be something more general like “there was only one bed” or “love at first sight” or any of the tropes. Or, they can be more Romy-centric like “living in New Orleans” or “Romy in the MCU” or something like that.

Remember that we celebrate all version of Romy—from the comics to the movies to the comic series. You are invited to create in any (or all) of the universe. Also, if you are new to the fandom (welcome!) or have been around for a while (hi!) or returning after a hiatus (welcome home!), we would love to have you participate. You’re all welcome here.

We look forward to another great year full of Rogue/Gambit goodness and we can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Our June piece is live! 😎 Jay Castello reports on the Starsky & Hutch Fiction Archive—which has been archiving S&H fic for decades—and how the show's onscreen relationship has inspired relationships within the fandom, too:

The Starsky & Hutch Fiction Archive continues to grow, preserving stories about love 50 years after the pilot first introduced this special relationship to viewers. New Starsky & Hutch fics appear both there and on AO3 at least every few days. At SHareCon, fans in their 20s meet fans in their 80s; the former often tell Lisa that they were introduced to the show by their grandmothers. “I’m so inspired,” she says. “I would like to think it could be around for another 50 years.”
