One more gift. You just had one more gift to get for your daughter. Two more minutes until you arrived at the only boutique in town that had it in stock. Three more sets and you are at the door. Then, there you saw it. The last Lego Ninjago set in the world. Four strides and you were in front of it. You quickly got your hands on it. But just as it was in your hands it was gone. Someone had snatched it away.

You whipped your head around to see the tallest and most handsome thief ever. Sorry good looking but that Lego set is mine, you thought to yourself as you swiftly tried to take it back from him.

That behemoth of a man dared to hold the toy above his head. "Hey, this isn't fair give that back!" you exclaimed, jumping as high as you could trying to snatch it. He even looked amused by your efforts.

"I took it first, so it's mine," he explained.

"No! I touched it first!" you said poking a finger into his chest naturally.

"You touched it with one hand, I touched it with two," he counted. Around you burn the flaming aura of two parents who love their kids more than anything and are determined to get them this toy for them.

"Listen jackass, my kid needs to have this toy," you said, finally giving up on taking it.

"Well my daughter wants it too, can't we make this work," he questioned.

"No, we can't 'make this work', that's the last one," you argued, raising your voice a bit.

"Why don't we just organize a playdate, and have our kids build and play with the set together," he proposed. You gave it thought before nodding.

"Okay, I could do that, but I'm buying it, and we're meeting at my house," you said sternly. Once he let his guard down you snatched the set and put it behind her back.

"Alright, alright, I can work with that, here hand me your phone," he said holding his hand out. You handed him your phone and put his number in it.

"Please shoot me a text anytime this week," he says as he bids you goodbye.

"Will do, Miguel O'Hara," you said, reading his name off of your phone.

Knock! Knock! Kno—you swung the door open and greeted Miguel and his daughter with a nod. You were on the phone, your hair still wet from the shower you had just taken.

"Mariana is in the living room, I'll join you all soon," you said before walking into the kitchen seemingly arguing with someone on the phone in a hushed tone.

Once you entered the living room the girls were already working on their Legos bonding over Cole being their favorite character from the show.

You set some snacks down for them and joined Miguel on the couch watching them play together in a comfortable silence. Once the girls were done building and started making their own stories you and Miguel started chatting a bit. Other than the grudge you had against him from what happened in the store, he was kind of funny. But effortlessly, he just speaks and then wonders why you're stifling laughter.

The four of you decided to play Candyland together over gingerbread cookies and hot chocolate. Gabriella and Mariana occasionally bumped the two of you together thinking that they were being slick with their matchmaking. The two of you knew that there was a lingering flirtatious tension between the two of you and that your daughters had caught on.

In saying goodbye hours after your daughters' play session, your bodies parted but your eyes stayed connected. That connection pulled your souls together and in that moment you felt as though you could hear his thoughts, and he could hear yours. "When can I see you again?" Miguel asked after getting Gabriella into the car.

You cocked your brow at his questions. "Our daughters can see each other for another playdate over the weekend," you teased.

With that you and Miguel said goodbye. Awaiting the next time you and your kids would meet.

Read your post about wu, misako, and garmadon and the love triangle. Great post and loved your joke. If you didn't make a post yet, I was wondering what your opinion is on the season 3 love triangle between Nya, Jay, and Cole?

Part two-

Okay so history lesson: season three is around the time the showrunners figured out that girls watched the show as well, and what better way to appeal to girls than with love drama right guys??? Because that's not stereotypical and insensitive, and butchering female characters for the sake entertainment isn't misogynistic at all!

... Okay so I have some negative thoughts, but the love triangle doesn't necessarily have to be bad? It's not great writing, but NinjaGo writers are known to sacrifice consistency for the sake of the plot a LOT so I'm not going to make a huge deal out of it. Up until Cole was described as Nya's "perfect match," she never had any interest in him. The love triangle between her and Cole comes completely out of nowhere, and gets treated more seriously in the show than most of the fans take it.

So let's try to break it down - Nya and Jay establish at the beginning of season 3 that they have some boundaries. They don't state what they are, but it's implied Jay isn't allowed to fawn over her and get super clingy. Which, after a reminder, Jay actually fulfills. The first episode implies they're in a healthy relationship, with even their students knowing about it. Nya even seems excited by the idea that Jay might be her perfect match.

Then she gets paired with Cole, and she insists no one say anything. Now, I'm gonna dip into my psychology classes and say that Nya's sudden "feelings" and "attraction" to Cole is based off of the power of suggestion rather than actual attraction.

The Power of Suggestion is the theory that when an individual has an idea conveyed to them, and only after that, said idea becomes a reality. The way it works is that your brain has to consider every idea that pops up in it, and how you react to that idea can strengthen it. Nya's extreme shock to the idea that she's meant to be with Cole solidified the suggestion that she should be with him in her mind, and with the way the human brain works, she was already thinking of reasons why. When your brain makes a statement, it automatically looks for proof, and so that's why Nya was able to believe that she genuinely had feelings for Cole - because she had plenty of reasons for why she could.

It's confirmed that Cole didn't really have feelings for Nya. He liked the attention, and because of Jay immediately getting mad at him for it, he amped up his own reactions. I don't think Cole ever had feelings for Nya, and he just got competitive because that's part of his personality.

Jay on the other hand. Since day ONE Jay has been interested in Nya. He wanted to know her favorite color, wanted to impress her. Him unlocking his true potential was because she admitted she actually liked him no strings attached. He's been head over heels for that girl from the start, and he's canonically very insecure about being liked. So when Pixal, someone who almost never lies, says that she's supposed to be with Cole, and Nya doesn't immediately reassure him? He was bound to react the way that he did. That being said, immediately jumping to violence was wrong of him, especially because he didn't technically have proof Cole had acted on anything, but it makes sense.

To put it bluntly, everybody messed up. Nya shouldn't have hid the perfect match thing, or tried to initiate any kind of romantic affection with Cole. Cole shouldn't have reciprocated, and especially shouldn't have endorsed hiding it from Jay. Jay should have asked what was going on, and actually gotten the information he needed before going on the attack - not to mention he should have focused his hurt on the fact that Nya actually kind of cheated on him, but it's understandable why he was mad at Cole.

If someone wants to argue for Mudshock, I'm all for it! I just don't like the way it was canonically portrayed. It did feel very teenager-y so kudos to the team for being accurate to the vibes, but ultimately they ended up butchering two incredible characters (Nya and Cole) for the sake of marketing. I don't think anyone who wrote this actually knows how upsetting it is when you find out your partner is cheating on you with your best friend, so they played up the love triangle for the masses.

TL:DR: in canon? I'm not a fan of Mudshock. In fanon, where it gets explored and balanced out and all three of them are healthy and supportive??? ABSOLUTELY SIGN ME UP BABY

Sun Rises doesn't surprise me at all, but I'm eternally shocked that "haven't you heard" is so popular. I wrote it in like a day for funsies and stuck it on tumblr, not even planning to post it to ao3, but then it blew up. it is a buzzfeed unsolved fic tho, so that might be why XD

What's the origin of your username?: Unfortunately my username doesn’t have a cool origin story 😔 I just really like crows lol. But it took me a couple of months to decide my username because I overthink everything. At one point it was going to be something to do with cheese i think

One that’s always been at the back of my head since eight years old was the Lego ninjago series (pre-s8 ninjago will always be my favourite, I’m just nostalgic for my childhood), so yeah I hold that series very dear to my heart 😌. I’m also very nervous for Netflix to release their Devil May Cry series. I’ve loved the games for quite a while now and totally forgot about them until the recent teasers came out. I just hope it’s good but I don’t wanna get my hopes up too high 😭

Skybound had so many good ideas and concepts that I really like the season for. On the other hand, it fumbled like 80% of those ideas soooo hard that makes me want to cry.

(suuuper long indulgent rant about Skybound underneath cut read at your own risk)

Nadakhan is my favorite villain in a bubble. He’s this disgraced djinn prince who runs away from his home realm to become one of the most feared pirate captains in Ninjago and when he tries to return home, it’s all crumbling. He then exacts revenge on those who destroyed his home by manipulating them and toying with them psychologically, eventually trapping their souls in a sword? Badass, right?

Except that all of this cool characterization is contradicted and bastardized left and right. The season dumbs down the ninja instead of making Nadakhan smarter so he can win. When he gains the ability to make his own wishes, he resorts to immediately killing everyone. His obsession with Nya is really weird considering that she was the one who CAUSED Djinnjago to get destroyed.

Jay and Nya’s character arcs are really interesting too. In a bubble. Jay has to step up as a leader after all his friends were taken by this guy, who he has to face after he kidnapped and tortured him. He fucked around and found out the hard way and has to make up for it. Nya continues to struggle with her identity and coming into her own as a ninja and not having Samurai X to latch onto. They both have to fight to keep each other safe and make sacrifices and fall back in love.

Once again though, this is all fumbled and explored in a way that makes me tear my hair out. Jay is a selfish obsessive whiny asshole who’s pining for Nya is super uncomfortable and annoying to watch instead of cute or relatable. Nya is an even bigger asshole than he is. She lets Clouse get away in the beginning to throw a tantrum on Jay, which causes Nadakhan to be freed in the first place. She causes Jay to nearly get killed by the Tiger Widow and then get kidnapped/tortured, all because she was mad at him.

So many other plot points and character choices make me so upset it really detracts from the season as a whole. To name some:

Kai’s ultra inflated ego/obsession with social media and girls

Dareth

Forcefully inserted misogyny

All of the prison arc. All of it.

Ronin betraying the ninja for the police. I get he likes money, but the ninja saved his ass and he is a known criminal. Just a weird place to take his character.

The ninja turning on Jay immediately and effectively sacrificing him to the ultra deadly giant spider

Cole and Lloyd being unceremoniously/anti-climatically removed from the season so Jay and Nya could be alone

Marriage plot (specifically Delara and the marriage plot only ever being used as an excuse for Nadakhan to fight with Jay over Nya which is really gross)

I wish Delara was explored more and was not a creepy Nya clone for Nadakhan to drool over, ew

Cole, Lloyd, and Nya using up their wishes immediately in really stupid ways

Tonal whiplash from the goofy lighthearted first half of the season to the dark hopeless second half

Echo Zane (before the Echo fans come after me, I like his character, but he just introduces a lot of plot implications that are never resolved or addressed for a character who has like 10 minutes of screen time max and never gets to come back)

We never learn why Cliff and ‘Libber’ abandoned Jay with the Walkers. Cliff obviously cared about his son, he made a shrine for him in his dressing room, so why did he never contact him before his death? What happened to Jay’s mom? Did Wu know? It’s annoying to have this plot point, only for it to never be explored in the whole show besides a line about being adopted in Prime Empire. Maybe we’ll get some context in Dragons Rising, but I doubt it.

We were robbed from a rematch between Captain Soto and Nadakhan

I honestly wouldn’t mind the ending, if it wasn’t for the fact that the writers can’t decide wether everyone remembers the alternate timeline or not. That and it’s seems like the events of Skybound don’t effect Jay and Nya in later seasons like at all besides a wink and a nudge at the viewer. Once again, Jay was kidnapped and physically/psychologically abused and tortured, and Nya straight up died. They are the only people who (completely) remember and gained what should be a massive amount of trauma but nope! Lloyd has more on-screen/canon trauma over Harumi than Nya does about DYING or Jay does about TORTURE. Again, I don’t think that Dragons Rising will explore this to any extent either.

I also don’t mind the whole trapping the ninja in the Djinnblade thing, I just wish the ninja could have had more screen time. Either by keeping them around longer before trapping them, or showing what inside the sword was like idk

Nadakhan and Jay are kinda weird because I’m not sure why he singled him out out of all of the ninja. I know the Doylist answer is that Jay is the focus character for the season, but I find it weird that instead of getting the other ninja while he could, he wasted a lot of his time toying with Jay on Misfortunes Keep. Why didn’t he just kidnap all of the ninja on Tiger Widow Island instead of giving them a chance of escape. His obsession with Jay could have been easily explained or explored it it never is?

TL;DR, Skybound is a mess of really good and really bad ideas Frankensteined together in the messiest, laziest way they could. I still like it quite a bit, but I would be lying if I said it didn’t frustrate the hell out of me.

-So here is an AU that I've been planning on making for months now and finally got around to making it, so here is my AU.

In my au Lloyd's oni powers are more easily accessed and he looks more oni like. He has a long thin dark tail (black with green spots at the tip) and he has pointed ears along with fangs. He has nightmares every now and then that are very vivid and realistic (the other ninja also get nightmares but not as often and they aren't as vivid). He also is more prone to to panic attacks along with being a bit more of a shy person.

Kai is also even more of a big brother to Lloyd in this au (because I live for their brother bonding). Lloyd usually likes to hide his tail when he's not in the monastery. In this au Lloyd's senses are heightened due to him being part oni and part dragon (the dragon part is where I got the tail idea from so don't attack me asking why he has a tail if oni dont have tails), his sense of smell, hearing, taste, ect. are just in general stronger than the normal persons.

If he gets angry or irritated for long periods of time his hands and feet might start turning black (due to his oni powers). It'll spread from his finger tips and toe tips up to his wrists and ankles. If he calms down enough the spreading will stop and dissapear.

Lloyd will hide his injuries from the others because he doesn't want them to worry about him and he doesn't want them to think he's weak, because of this the other ninja decided that they all have to be checked up on after missions by either zane or pixal (because they know the most about medical stuff). Zane and, sometimes pixal (depending on wether or not she went on the mission with them will get checked up on by either nya or zane (cuz they are good with tech stuff)

Lloyd in this au balanced being a ninja and online school ever since the "Tea Incident" (when lloyd got aged up cuz of mistakés funky tea). The other ninja did online school also but they finished it before lloyd cuz they are older and started before they met Lloyd (zane didn't do online school cuz he's a nindroid). Master wu was the one who forced them to do online school cuz education is needed and stuff.

Master wu also has Lloyd birth certificate (cuz misako kept on losing it in her large paper collection of history stuff). Master Wu also become one of Lloyd legal gaurdians (misako agreed to this) so that Wu could make decisions for him if he ever ended up in the hospital for some reason and they couldn't get ahold of misako.

Ranking every Ninjago Season's music

I originally posted this on AMINO for the 10th anniversary, but with the news that even more soundtracks will have an official release I feel I should repost it for people to see. This list was made before Seabound and since Seabound music is not fully out in good quality yet I did not add it to the ranking.

Ok so I'll state now that these are all my opinions (obvi) and I was a band student for a while so what bothers me or what I find wonderful may be different from what you think. Feel free to add your thoughts in the comments cause I want the music of Ninjago to be just as appreciated as the show itself!

Asian flutes and strings, woodwinds, brass, a basic drum kit, that kinda stuff. Think season 1 and 2 instruments. That's what I mean by "Ninjago Instruments"

NUMBER 14: Fire chapter

Revamped snake theme with little new motifs.

Some tracks have this weird cartoony "scoring to movement" thing that makes it kinda funny, but it also makes most of them strange to listen to on their own.

Good instruments but, to be honest, the bland script is probably hard to work off of. The best one is hands down "The News Never Sleeps", but "Clutch Powers" and "Charr" are funny.

NUMBER 13: March of the Oni

Why Conga and African drums for the Oni? They go so ham and are kinda distracting in the moment.

Overall still better than most average cartoon osts (super intense music while in the Darkness) but having drums as a main motif never stands out to me since all songs typically feature drums.

And I LOVE Garmadon's theme but other seasons have more of it and have less weird drums. Just listen to "Cole Falls" and "Tornado of creation" and cry it all away

NUMBER 12: Tournament of Elements

This one has an eerie sense that something is wrong in the back of the tracks (which is neat and reused a lot in later seasons), but they use very standard instruments like drums and the classic Asian inspired orchestral stuff we expect from Ninjago**

Doesn’t make it bad, just kinda basic. It matches the rest of the season as the most “NINJAGO” season ever made. Garmadon’s theme, "Prison Break", and "Chen's Noodle House" save this from complete obscurity, but it’s hard to compete with what’s next

NUMBER 11: Hands of Time

Repeats the same motif 50 bajillion times but I don’t care.

The stringed instrument they chose for the Time Twins is wonderful to listen to and it may be my favorite unique instrument they have in NINJAGO. The twang it has gives it this sense of a mystery and the ticking backdrop adds such dimension to the score.

I would make it higher for it’s construction, but it’s tracks are mostly identical. Ticking backbeat with a motif or two. Still epic tho. Best tracks are: "The Hands of Time Reunite", "Using and Losing the Time Blades", and "Fusion Dragon"

NUMBER 10: Sons of Garmadon

Has typical Ninjago instruments**, but includes more character motifs like Harumi and the SOG themselves that differentiates the tracks from each other. The chase scene scores can be a tad repetitive after a while, but hold up independently.

The digital backbeats elevate it above ToE and HoT and it delivers in many emotional beats like the slow corruption of Harumi's theme. Best track is rather "Dark True Potential" or the Opening heist.

NUMBER 9: Hunted

Are you ready to hear the Hunters theme over and over after listening to it in the opening? Well ME TOO! It’s pretty epic but shares a lot of cons with SOG and Hands of time. Has those more basic intense instrumentation in it’s villain tracks but you cannot deny the soundtrack from grandeur simply because of this basic pool of sounds.

It still has some unique licks that make some tracks stand out and its above SOG purely for the sheer amount of character motifs woven into each score like Garmadon, Dareth, Faith, and Harumi to name a few.

Still don’t quite like chanting and drums for the Oni but it’s a small part in an otherwise fulfilling bunch of tracks. The Hunters main ost (Heard in opening as well), "Resistance Never Quits", "A Full on Battalion", and "I Can Resist You" are notable stand outs.

NUMBER 8: Rise of the Spinjitzu Master

Season 2 Is a staple for Ninjago music, but nowhere near the best. It’s half playfully nostalgic songs like "Day jobs" and "Captain Soto’s Crew" and true gut wrenchers like the slow fusion of Garmadons motif into the overlords overpowering strings.

It has a strangely high amount of Death Choir for a Lego show originally marketed towards children and I love how intense they were able to go even in its purest stage.

It is not higher because I can never remember the Stone Army theme despite it taking up the second act of the whole season. That portion just is not as memorable as it could be.

That memorable issue may arise from the instruments being limited compared to other seasons, but nevertheless it feels like NINJAGO (perhaps partially because of nostalgia), and no one can deny a good death choir with the depressing Garmadon motif and the Ninja brass section to bring it all together.

"Metamorphosis", "Overlord", and of course "The Final Battle" are all stand outs that keep this season from slipping any lower

NUMBER 7: Rebooted

The Overlord 2: Electric Boogaloo.

This season has more digital differentiation, more character motifs and 100% less Misako’s theme (I like the theme by itself but every time it plays I’m reminded of HER). Rebooted keeps the staple Ninjago sounding instruments** while adding that digital and other worldly spice that elevates it above Season 2 as a whole.

The mixing of digital and traditional fits the season well and it's the original season of distorting a preexisting character theme for a twist (With Pythor).

"Out of their Element", Every Digiverse track, and Zane's death and resurrection are all stand outs.

NUMBER 6: Prime Empire

Prime Empire simply SLAPS.

Now we are getting into tracks I would go out of my way to find. S12 has such a distinct style and you either love it or hate it’s techno synthy nonsense.

I, for one, love how they were able to convert ninjago into synth, 8 bit, and all sorts of other techno sounds that a typical season would never use.

Because they opened the door to such wild sounds and synths each track feels different and you can easily tell what is the Hub world, what is Unagami, and what is a fight scene.

A perfect blend of Silly tracks ("Rockstar Rockin Jay" // "Ninjago Confidential" // "Shifty’s Mart" // "Fugidove") and freakin bops like "Dance Off", "Scott the Stowaway", and Unigami’s motif.

I know I listed far too many tracks for number 6 but listen to "Dance off" and decide for yourself whether it's your thing.

NUMBER 5: Rise of the serpentine // The Pilot

I see Season 1 and Prime Empire as 100% equal in quality despite the fact they are COMPLETELY different in every way (I honestly love them both equally but someone must be ranked higher).

Season one has the sad advantage of being season one, which means it gets a leg up for being “tHe fIrsT”. Usually I am beneath such an argument, but season one gave us the Prologue Overture every other season built upon so it deserves praise.

Going beyond that we have The Serpentine motif, True Potentials, and that ever depressing Garmadon lick. The best word for this season’s music is iconic.

The heavy reliance of strings vs wind/brass keeps the music more grounded and tame, but this goes well with the slower build of season 1.

Honestly I can’t put the season with "Pythor P. Chumsworth", "Falcon chase", "Roomies with Garmadon:, and "Zane's True Potential" too low now can I?

NUMBER 4: Ice Chapter

Atmospheric Marvel.

Ice Chapter is something you need to cherish while listening to to really understand the artistry behind it. Although not my top favorite, I consider everything in the top 5 to be works of art and treated equally despite the fact they are clearly ranked and judged.

The Ice Chapter evokes such emotion in it’s themes that make it more than an ost. Prime Empire may be cool and energetic, but The Ice Chapter is crafted for the moment and everything in it supports the narrative.

Pitch shifting Zane’s memory theme and then hiding it behind the clangs of Vex, the mystical new Neverrealm motif, and that disturbing backbeat echo is genius and engaging everytime that cello comes in. It definitely has the advantage of taking a gorgeous motief from season 1 and spreading out into this corrupted main theme.

Best tracks are "The Formlings", "Akita finds her animal form", "The Ice Emperor" and "Corruption", and "Arriving in the Nether Realm".

If you want a good laugh to quell the pain from "Corruption", listen to "The Absolute Worst".

NUMBER 3: Day of the Departed

Does it only have 4 tracks? Yes. But damn it those 4 tracks are some of the best of all Ninjago.

Yang's theme is so chilling and I love my ghost motifs in this show so much. But since it has so little it also can’t afford to have dead tracks, opting instead to use previous season tracks for most fight scenes as they are with old villains and focus the musical attention to the emotional focus.

"Maybe I’m Departed"/Day of the departed credit song is my favorite track of Ninjago ever and it is exclusive to this small soundtrack so I could not leave it out

Yang's theme has that twangy guitar, back melody violins, a creepy organ and, as per usual, a death choir to bring it all together.

NUMBER 2: Master of the Mountain

Take Ninjago and make it those # EPIC COVER vidoes on youtube.

From the first note of the instrumental theme song you know you’re in for a wild ride of death choirs and epic orchestral tracks and it delivers! MoM decides, like possession, to use a heavy brass section and a good amount of creepy strings.

MoM also introduces many unique motifs, like Shintaro, Vania, Lily/The Caves, and Skull Sorcerer and they are all gorgeous.

The clatter in the background of slower and more somber tracks feels like you are close to this metal work camp and the skull sorcerer’s violins are quite like Morros, which is always welcome.

Everything works, but some may say there is such a thing as being TOO epic. This overall lack of more somber moments keeps it from the top. I encourage daily listening to "The Skull Sorcerer"  and "The Upply Strike" back to keep up mental health.

NUMBER 1: Possession

Talk about a masterpiece.

This is the best music Ninjago has ever constructed. The strings are chilling every time and choosing to distinctly slur the notes in such a creepy way gives a real sense of danger and atmosphere that the music conveys more than the visuals at times. Layering strings on top of each other makes the music feel complete in every way with a heavy dose of spoopy pipe organ.

Thematically, Morro's motif is almost always intertwined in the middle of tracks after his introduction, showing both his connection to Wu and his possession of Lloyd. Everything from the ninja’s brass section to the ghosts' strings, to Ronin's miscellaneous percussion (bells and of the like) is amazing.

I may be biased as I love the sounds of Halloween but I don't think anyone can deny how cool Morro's theme alone is. Listen to "Ghost story", "Master of Wind", and "Temple on the Haunted Hill" and then go back and binge it all from start to finish.

4. What fandoms do you write for? Mostly LEGO Ninjago! I have a handful of unreleased fics that I've either put aside or am still working on, but the majority of my WIPs are about my favorite fruit-colored children. I have two published shorts for Persona 5 Royal, but I don't really plan on writing any more unless I come across a really good idea for another one.

5. Do you respond to comments? I try my best to at least thank everyone for commenting! But of course, I'm also always down to read/explain any of the symbols/references I sneak into my fics.

6. Fic with the angstiest ending: Definitely Spilling Champagne. It's the only fic I've written that has absolutely zero closure as far as the mainline story goes.

7. Fic with the happiest ending: Wonderstruck! I've always loved exploring the emotions of excitement and hope surrounding potential new relationships.

8. Do you get hate? Tbh, I don't think I'm a popular enough writer to garner that sort of negative attention.

9. Do you write smut? *horrified gasp* I could never! At the most, I'd write a very non-descriptive fade-to-black scene; but even then, I would need a very good character development sort of reason to even consider writing anything close to suggestive.

10. Do you write crossovers? I have started on once. In Junior High. It was rather bizarre, and I refuse to release any details.

11. Ever had a fic stolen? That's a thing?!? Thankfully, no.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Sadly, no. Sounds cool though! That'd be an honor!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic? I haven't! I'm not opposed to the idea, but knowing myself, I'm not sure how I'd feel about writing alongside someone else, unless it was a multiple POV story or something like that.

14. All-time favorite ship? This is actually a really difficult question for me to answer. I'm generally not a huge shipper? I really love Cole/Vania from Ninjago (the fandom perspective), but also Neil/Eva from the To the Moon series (canonically).

15. WIPs you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Wonderstruck was once 1/13 of a short story collection, but I doubt most of its companion chapters will ever see the light of day.

16. Writing strengths? I've been told I write really convincing childhood characters, especially via dialogue? I'd also like to think that I can handle symbolism fairly well in my stories. And I can churn out a little bit of poetry under very specific circumstances.

17. Writing weaknesses? I couldn't write a riveting action scene even if I tried, mostly because I get a little too bogged down by details. I also tend to bite off more than I can chew as far as multi-chaptered fics. Sometimes, I spend so much time in the planning stage, that I kind of burn out the idea before I get to the actual writing part.

18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue? I wouldn't mind giving it a try once! I struggle with learning languages personally, so I think I'm mostly worried that I would do it incorrectly.

19. First fandom you wrote for? I think it was a four-chaptered fic about the Scarlet Witch that took place between Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. It's actually still sitting on my laptop somewhere. That's really a throwback though.

20. Favorite fic you've ever written? I think I will always believe that nine is the best thing I've ever written. It was such a wonderful challenge for me to get back into writing after several years of not doing so, especially with the imagery and emotions that I wanted to capture with each installment. I'm just really proud of it.

Rise and Shine and Fall, my successful (by that I mean actually wrote and posted every day on schedule) Whumptober 2022 extravaganza compilation. I posted it all in one work, so it's higher than most other whump fics of mine, but there's a lot in it!

4. What fandoms do you write for? Zelda. In the past I wrote a tiny bit of Danny Phantom and a fair amount of FE3H!

5. Do you respond to comments? Always!! I admit to being SO VERY BEHIND right now, a couple months' worth. I'm trying to keep up on new ones, but I've had some beautiful wonderful readers going through my catalog and I can't always keep up!! XD

6. Fic with the angstiest ending: I don't write a lot of negative endings, so I think this badge goes to Counterbalance, my LU Darks AU. I'm actually fully in love with this fic, it's probably the best mix of silly and angsty I've ever written. It's full of what are essentially OCs but they're all my babies and I love them.

7. Fic with the happiest ending: incandescently happy, post-LU. The whole fic is essentially a fix-it ending, though LU doesn't have an ending yet. XD

8. Do you get hate? A couple silly comments trying to tell me I'm doing things wrong, but not really no! Oh, also can't forget the ask I got that was "Remember that Jesus is your first reader." I think that was meant to be passive aggressive but there's a chance it was meant like, genuinely? Not sure.

We're currently in the process of working on a big epic original fantasy series, though that's a long-term project. @batrogers and I have done a few alt-POV-type projects too, which have been super duper fun!! Hope to do more.

In that vein too, I feel like the Bad End Links kind of qualify here—so much of the characters and their stories were brainstormed collaboratively and so many friends have contributed details and fics and art, it feels like a fun group project! I've really enjoyed working on it. :D (the encouragement and hype for it also helps a lot!! I'm really hoping to finish this big project out!)

14. All-time favorite ship? Ahhhh a harder question than you'd think, tbh, even if you're limiting it to fic. I've written the most for Vidow, and they're definitely up there (same with Fourdow though I've done less with them.) I do have to admit that Linhardt/Byleth might take the cake, though. They were the first ship I was ever actually obsessed with, and the first romantic pairing I wrote in fic.

I just really adore Linny in general, and I love how the pairing continues and closes off some of the themes in the Crimson Flower route of FE3H. That's the only route where Byleth doesn't become archbishop-slash-dictator, and I think choosing to live life in a small cottage, not particularly contributing too much to the government, builds nicely upon the themes of becoming human and choosing your own destiny, themes that are really missing from the other routes.

15. WIPs you want to finish but doubt you ever will? My old AO3 account (a couple FE3H fics and not much else) has a series where I wrote the beginning of a fic and then had several different endings planned, each a different ship with Linhardt, but I only ever wrote one. I'd love to read the rest but I have too many other fics calling my name!

16. Writing strengths? Um... Volume and speed? Also AUs. I think I can call myself good at fitting characters into new settings. Also fight scenes are fun and I think I do them well.

17. Writing weaknesses? I feel somewhat weak in the plotting and style realms.

Without further ado: My Batman actor list:

9. Adam West- I personally didn’t enjoy his Batman… the whole vibe was too old and silly looking for me, but if I’d been alive at the time it came out I think I would’ve enjoyed it. It’s like the way my little siblings feel about the original yugioh series.

8. Battinson (Robert Pattinson)- I have a whole speech for this but I’ll try to be brief. Batman is the second smartest character in the DC universe (after Lex Luthor, a fact I think is still up for debate.) and the second best in hand to hand combat (after Lady Shiva which is not up for debate, I totally get that.) He can toss a man across a room with one hand, aim a gun without looking and grapple across cities supporting himself and all his body weight and muscle mass with one arm. He can learn a person’s tells, weaknesses, and inner natures after a few moments of conversation. Guy is a freakin BEAST of a man. Battinson gave me Walmart edition Tim Drake Batman from battle of the cowl vibes. He was like the brown ninja from Lego ninjago. (I don’t know if that guy went on to become great or something, all I know is that when I stopped watching the show he was a liability at best.) He didn’t feel like batman, or at least any batman I knew and liked to see. I don’t know if they were going for like, detective comics batman, but even then I felt like he fell flat and did a poor job. That’s my opinion and that’s that.

7/6/5. (Totally equal.) George Clooney, Val Kilmer, and Michael Keaton- Movies were fine, they weren’t anything special for me in terms of acting, no issues, no highlights.

4. Batfleck (Ben Affleck)- LISTEN I know his movies sucked, I’m not defending those, however he did a great job of playing the white knight, future state, urban legends, Injustice, Heroes in crisis, Doomsday clock, basically any elseworld Batman I ever read and liked- he pulled off the vibes. The paranoia, the desperation, the determination- he did those very well. He was the best BRUCE WAYNE. His Batman performance was eh, nothing special, weird suit, but his Bruce performance? Phenomenal. Especially when he had to be Bruce, party boy Brucie, shaking hands, “I bought the bank” Bruce, and then when he was “even a 1% chance” contingency, decoding files, nightmare having Bruce, and when he was working out, investigating, preparing Bruce. He did them all justice (pun intended.) better than pretty much everyone else. (UPDATE) I just remembered this list is for Batman actors, not Bruce, so I’d put him at 7, maybe 6. I’d change the list, but I’m lazy. (I also wrote the word Bruce so many times the word has lost all meaning.)

3. Jason O’mara- I thought he was great. I loved his voice, it was basically perfect. 10/10 Nothing more, nothing less.

2. Christian Bale- Absolutely amazing. Amazing Batman, fantastic Bruce, really cool detective, awesome everything. Only thing I’d change, and this is super petty, is just that in terms of aesthetics I’d want him to be thicker, I thought he was very lean, and the suit would just be upgraded to like 2022 quality, little more updated/sleek, yknow? But that’s not even a real critique, just a thought. I loved him, absolutely phenomenal.

It’s 4:30 am I cannot sleep and I just finished reading possibly the best Ninjago fanfic I have ever read I feel so powerful have some thoughts on Kai, his true potential, and his younger brother Lloyd.

Kai and Lloyd’s relationship is hands down, my favorite one in this entire show. Possibly my favorite fictional character dynamic ever.

I cry for both these characters. They both had such difficult lives, and are similar in so many ways. Lloyd would not be the green ninja if it weren’t for Kai. Hell he wouldn’t even be alive.

Early Kai was such a terrible person. He didn’t care anything but himself (and his sister). Nothing really mattered to him if he wasn’t the one getting the glory, because if he’s not getting the glory then he’s not worth anything.

Enter Lloyd. A brat of a child and someone who, at first Kai would not hesitate to abandon on the streets. How do we go from that to Kai being willing to die for him?

Simple. You end up trapped in a volcano together.

That aside, I think that first real bonding moment between Kai and Lloyd is so god damn powerful. Kai is so close to obtaining his ‘goal’ he can’t even listen to reason to escape a dangerous situation. His perception of success is right there in front of him, he could have everything he wanted.

But Lloyd. Lloyd is here and he needs help. It was a certain fact. He will die if Kai doesn’t do something. Kai looks at Lloyd, looks at the Fang blade, and looks back to Lloyd. He sees the fear in Lloyd’s eyes, hears the panic in his voice. And he understands.

Up until he meets the ninja, Lloyd has been abandoned, ridiculed or rejected by everyone he’s ever met in his life. Even with the ninja, he faced the some of the same. He may have been calling for help, but he didn’t expect Kai to come. At 9 years old he was resigned to dying a horrible death for the sake of a mission because he believed he wasn’t important enough to take priority.

And Kai Smith cannot let that happen. No matter how badly he wants something, he cannot allow an innocent child to believe they are worth nothing. To believe their life isn’t worth saving.

Because for a long time Kai believed that about himself.

And for probably the first time since he started as a ninja, Kai makes a decision that isn’t focused on him, and what he wants. He gives up everything he felt he’s worked for to save someone nobody else would honestly think twice about. It’s a this point that Kai makes a realization. What good are his powers if he can’t save lives? What good is he as a ninja if he chooses his own selfishness over the life of another? This is how he unlocks his true potential.

Kai makes a third realization when he gets to Lloyd. Now in tune with his element, he can sense something he couldn’t sense before. There is an energy radiation off of Lloyd in waves, pure and powerful and green. It’s so strong he can hardly believe nobody had noticed. Lloyd is the Green Ninja. And he’s not even upset. Something about the way Lloyd desperately clings to him, tears pricking his eyes, full of shock and fear and hope. Something about the way his fire roars to life with the knowledge that ‘yes, you have a purpose and that purpose is to protect’. It feels right in a way that never has before, and Kai makes a vow.

As long as there is breath in his body, he will protect this child.

And boom. The greatest sibling relationship of all time is born thanks for coming to my Ted Talk

Why Lloyd is my least favorite ninja and how I rewrite him

Notes:// you know the rodeo by now, long post so it’s going to be under a read more, and I’m not gonna tag this with Lloyd because of the criticisms I have against his character, if you don’t want to hear Lloyd be critiqued then don’t reas the post

Why I don’t like Lloyd

Maybe it’s because I’m a Kai kinnie or maybe it’s because I have a bias agaisnt the younger sibling but Lloyd has never really been a favorite of mine

He was enjoyable in s1 but after that he kinda lost all personality for me and I stopped enjoying him

I think this is mostly for two reasons:

1. His screen time

2. His “character arcs”

I’ll go ahead and knock out his screentime here because it pretty much speaks for himself

Lloyd takes up so much screentime in the show that it’s actually jarring, he’s the character with the most seasons, having s1-2, s4, s8-11, and finally s14 ((the island special)). Which I think makes lloyds writing flaws all the more noticable

A big reason, albeit a bit of a petty one, for why I don’t like him is because he constant hyjacks other characters plots and makes them about him, this happened with Kai in both s4 and s11

Even if he’s not the main focus of a season, he always has a side plot focusing on him like in s3 and s12

The writers need to include Lloyd in other seasons is making it harder for the other main characters to actually have enough screentime to grow and develop on there own

And as a side effect of this, Lloyd gets to become the most important character in every season he is, taking roles from other characters who needed them

My best example is Cole being leader, he was set up and established as leader in the pilots and s1, and he did pretty good in it! Cole being a leader is a interesting concept that I would have loved to see been developed

But after Lloyd grew up they threw that plot point into the trash so they could have the mystical green ninja be leader even though throughout s1-7 he hardly actually talks to the main cast and him being leader doesn’t add any interesting dynamic like cole and kais rivalry despite Kai being a sort of right hand man to Coles leadership.

And in s1-s7 especially everything literally revolves around Lloyd to the point where his existence is more important than everyone else’s, and everyone’s motivations are to protect him.

Again I understand he is important, he’s the green ninja, but you have to let your other characters grow and develop, Lloyd is not the only main character in your show

Like for fuck sakes I don’t need 3 arcs about Lloyd and his dad, can I finally have another Kai season

Lloyds character arcs honestly kinda suck

Im going to be honest with you

Lloyds kinda an ass

The reason I like jay more then Lloyd even though jay has been way more mean spirited then Lloyd throughout the entire series is because you can atleast make the argument that jay doesn’t know when his jokes can hurt. And the show doesn’t portray jay as in the right, he gets what he deserves for some of the meanier things he says.

The same can’t be said about Lloyd

Lloyd says things to the other ninja that is honestly so mean spirited it’s jarring to hear it from him

Best example being when Lloyd told Kai to get over his shit when Kai was grieving in s4

But what makes it so frustrating is that the show always portrays Lloyd like he’s in the right which is why a lot of his character arcs feel flat or uninteresting

The only time this doesn’t apply is in s2 and in s3, in s2 the show paints Lloyd as being unfair to Misako when he RIGHTFULLY gets mad at her for abandoning him, I’ll get back to this later

The second time in s3 is when he’s traveling with Garmadon and having to be taught to balance his powers, which is actually one part of s3 I really liked, it was nice to see these two bond and have Garmadon teach Lloyd something that wu would other wise not teach him. And it’s a real shame the season cut it short AGAIN

The biggest example of the show making Lloyd seem in the right no matter what is in s4, Lloyds whole arc there was to learn how to view things from a different perspective and appreciate the things others have done for him. And this is would work if the show decided to do the same.

Again back to that scene with Lloyd and Kai in s4, the show treats Lloyd as if he’s in the right and it’s never addressed after this. Even though this is supposed to be the beginning of lloyds arc where he’s supposed to learn to view things from a different perspective

This scene would have worked if

1. The show didn’t paint him in the right for this, either by having Lloyd apologize or having the show acknowledged how it might have hurt Kai

2. If the plot Lloyd has remained a side plot instead of taking up the entire focus

Seriously, s4 could have been the ONE season where you can have a Lloyd side plot thats not forced and yet they fucked it up and made it the entire focus of the season thanks a lot.

To quote what I said in my Nya anayalsis awhile back

“I’m not upset that he has a flaw, just that it’s not recognized as one”

Lloyd would work way better as a character if the show just let him have consequences for his actions

Ever since he grew up and got the green ninja role he’s been treated like he can’t do no wrong which is clearly not true

But since we’re already on this topic

Hurting Lloyd doesn’t make him a good character

I feel like Tommy ((and sometimes the fandom)) really misunderstand what the use of suffering for in a story

There atleast 3 reasons writers make there characters suffer

1. To undergo a arc and realize where they have been wrong or to give a character a lot more depth to expand upon

2. If the story is a fallen hero one and the character suffers because of his Huberius

3. If the story is a tragedy

Ninjago is neither a fallen hero story or a tragedy and his pain doesn’t develop him as a character

A lot of writers don’t understand that suffering isn’t what makes a character good, it’s what pushes them to become good, you can’t just throw a character at the wall and expect them to instantly be a well written fleshed out character

A lot of the suffering Lloyd has to endure is mostly for no reason and it’s really mean spirited because it adds nothing to the plot, it’s just there to hurt him

Let’s bring up s11 as an example, Lloyd didn’t HAVE to fight the ice emperor from a writing standpoint, if anything it should have been kais battle because his lose of power and Zane going evil would have been a perfect reflection of s4 and tie it up after it ended kais character a bit open ended

But no let’s have Lloyd do it instead because haha isn’t trauma COOL and HIP

Now to be clear, I’m not saying that all of your stories have to end on a happy ending or anything like that, if your a writer then your allowed to do whatever you want with your personal writing

What I am saying is that ninjago is an actual SHOW made by PROFESSIONAL writers and they can’t understand the concept of a story structure

And the lack of actually addressing his trauma is really bringing down Lloyd as a character

Because it comes to a point where you understand why Lloyd is sometimes mean or distrustful of other people and it’s frustrating because you know that it’s flaws of him that are never going to be fixed because there writers want there trauma baby

How I would rewrite him

I’ve seen a lot of people suggest Lloyd become a villain in a future season and you know what, I sort of agree

But not in the way you think

I feel like it would be way more compelling if Lloyd was a villain but is still a ninja, instead of Lloyd switching sides, the show is switching perspectives

More or less I want Lloyd to be a reflection of the “true” villain, which is how wu ((and subsequently Lloyd)) put small Victories as more important then the ninjas life, passion, and desire, and how there black and white thinking of good and evil ends up to a lot of problems because there’s a lot of grey area there choosing to ignore

I want Lloyd to start of being loyal to wu’s philosophy and the protagonist, for random example let’s say Kai, sudden turn on these ideas in order to look outside the box to find if there truly is a better way to protect people without harming himself

I want Lloyd to be upset over what he thinks is a turn to the dark side when in reality, it would make his motivations make sense and not make his turn to “villainy” be out of character.

And over the course of the season he starts to realize how wus and subsequently his leadership has hurt the others and himself, and have him reflect on if all the pain they suffer through just to clean up wus mistakes is really worth it like wu says, or if there’s a better way like kai says

As for Lloyds actual character himself, I’d like for his flaws to be more noticeable

Have Lloyd be a gifted kid who gets praise when he doesn’t deserve it but still kinda acts like a brat because he’s still mentally like 10

Have him be a control freak who follows the rules way to strictly and is all serious when they have to do missions

Have his idealization of wu be realized and critiqued because honestly wu sucks ass

Would this make his character less like able? Maybe, but then he’d actually have depth and something to improve on

He can still have his s3 and s4 arcs, it’s just now they’re more important because he’s actually learning to be better

Season 1 episode 3 snakebit

Waking up by gong sounds unnecessarily mean sensei wu

Matching pjs. Are amazing. Also I like to think wu got them the pjs before he recruited them to be ninja and don’t know what they liked so just got color coded matching pjs

Well Cole ninja do clean in fact they clean alto in the future

also I remember the bunks of their beds talking up a lot more room then they actually do

Cole using spinjitzu should have created more dirt on the bounty then cleaning the old junk by hand would

Also who is going to be in the desert wanting to buy stuff (besides Ed and Edna of corse but seriously who did Cole think would take this junk)

Zane and Kai freezing and melting the cabin to clean it will only cause wet and unstable wood and multiple burn marks

Why does this ship have mechanical bits if it was made in the serpentine wars era

How did they get a new video game console. Did they have like 300 more bucks to buy a new one or did the sunken pirate ship just have one lying around

Those controllers have movement sticks on the front of them. They are a sin on all good controlers out there. One they are huge two they look bad and three they have fudging movement sticks on the front.

I love their car it’s so funky in a good way

I love that jay can tell it’s his parents just from their car honk

They just need to learn some boundaries

I miss the old bounty’s bridge it was so simple but it looks so cool

Also I feel for jay. Having your parents tell embaresing stories sounds so mortifying. That’s why I tell all the embarrassing stories my self so I can make it sound funny.

The fangpyre were the Sneks I was most scared of as a kid because of the fact of the bite you they turn you into one of them, and as a kid that was terrified of things like zombies, vampires, werewolves, and any fnaf character they were scary. Not nightmare inducing scary but still up there.

That walk must be miserable. The longest I have walked is all around Disney world and by the end of they day my feet wanted to Rest In Peace. I can’t imagine how they are doing this in a blazing hot dessert.

Any time jay speaks with what ever acsent he speaks with is so jarring to modern day jay that I double take if he is actually talking or if it’s a voice swap

You can see bloody bite marks on there arms that’s wild for a 2010s cartoon show

Why does the staff have the antivenin to every serpentine power it seems counter productive.

Lloyd with the boom box made me belly laugh for some reason. Has modern day cartoon poop, butt, and fart jokes made me week to any funny looking thing.

Also from worst to best design probably goes like Kai’s bike, Zane’s bike, jays jet, and then coles car thing. I like bikes and I think they are cool and jays jet stands out, but coles car thingy in just forgettable in my opinion. I actually couldn’t remember what his vehicle was untill I watched the episode.

Final thoughts

This episode was much better than I remember it being. With the wholesome family content we have in here and the great fight sequences, it just makes a great episode. My only gripes with this one is that it drags a bit and the other ninja kinda were thrown in the backseat for this one. It also brings to my attention that each episode seems to have a focus ninja like how episode two was focused on Zane and this one was focused on jay. Over all I’d give this episode a solid 9.5/10

Finally Nya's season! Our queen, our water goddess, our amazing girl gets what she deserves! ��😍😍

What I know about the season beforehand is that Nya's powers apparently are getting problematic for some reasons? Which is a pretty common topic in other shows but it's a first in Ninjago, usually the elemental powers don't have focus and I LOVE that we now get to see stuff like that 💕💕💕

I know there should be Wojira involved, trusting The Island to deliver that little foreshadowing at the end of the episode 🤷‍♀️ Also Maya is back... MAYA IS FINALLY BACK AFTER SEVEN SEASONS YES!!! 😭😭😭

I have nothing else to say, I have no idea what this will bring, hopefully something as good as Master of the Mountain! 🖤

Warning reader, I might be fangirling to an extreme because I love mah girl Nya and I've been wanting Kai and Nya's parents to be back ever since Hands of Time ended. So yeah... screaming alert 😅

At this point I don't doubt that the intro is great, we reached such a level of animation and we got The Fold 😍😍 Love the marine vibe and how it's similar to The Island, because it's a great intro 👌

NOW I like the writing! Maybe they rushed the dialogue's quality for The Island to get here? It's just fun and in character, maybe it's just me but I'm enjoying it a lot for now

How many episodes are in this? Wiki says ten, then I checked again and it's sixteen like with Master of Mountain... eh, it looks good so far so it's fine whatever happens 🤷‍♀️

Kai grew up more insecure, he got some walls up but loves to take care of others and be taken care of. With a childhood lost he looks forward to a bit of softness ❤❤

Being chased by haunted ghost swords (again), wasn’t Cole’s favorite way to end off the night.

They’d finally gotten the scroll of airjitzu, but now Yang, his creepy hostage-students, and yes, the stupid swords, were after them. If they didn’t make it out by the time the clock stopped chiming, they’d be done for. 

The brilliant idea to tie themselves together seemed incredibly dumb now. It only served to slow them down, and if they didn’t stop tripping over themselves, they’d never make it out.

His fingers were wrapped so tight around the scroll that he was almost sure it would rip. His heart was pounding violently in his chest as they ran — well, stumbled — to the entrance. His mind was racing with fear.

They still had a few stories to go.

They could do this, they could get out, being cursed just wasn’t an option, they still had to save Lloyd!

Oh, Lloyd. He was probably doing even worse than them right now. Morro was probably hurting him terribly, and there was nothing they could do about it if they didn’t get out.

They were all but dragging each other, but they were moving. They were almost there. They were almost to the first floor, now.

The clock kept chiming.

How much longer did they have?

Please, please, they were so so so close. 

Out of nowhere, his side was burning. Fuck — one of those stupid swords had stabbed him! It hurt, quite a lot actually, but — the scroll! He’d dropped it! No no no, he had to go back, he had to get it!

He fumbled with the rope, untying himself from the others and bolting for the scroll.

His fingers wrapped around it, and he spun around again, heading for the door.

He ignored the blood dripping from his side in favor of all but throwing himself through the door.

Something was wrong. He had made it, hadn’t he? Somehow, he’d managed to go back for the scroll and still make it back in time. That’s what had happened, right? So why were his friends looking at him like that? Why didn’t his side hurt anymore? What was wrong?

Why was he so cold?

Very slowly, he lifted his hands. 

Please don’t be true, please don’t be true, please please please.

His hands were green. They were translucent green.

“I — I’m a…” being unable to be unable to breathe felt so wrong, his breaths should have been harsh and labored, he should have felt lightheaded from it all, this was all so fucking wrong! “I’m a ghost.”

He was dead. He was dead. Oh first master, this couldn’t be happening.

Numbly, he fell to the ground. 

The feeling of tears building behind his eyes was there, but they wouldn’t come. They never would again.

Cole spent the next few days in his room, drowning in depression. Sometimes he was sad, other times he felt nothing at all.

Other times he wanted to scream his throat raw.

He couldn’t help Lloyd like this. He couldn’t do anything like this. He was absolutely useless now, probably even a bigger burden than before.

How could he ever face his dad again?

He grabbed at a pillow to hold so he could comfort himself, choking on a dry sob when his hands just passed right through it.

It wasn’t fair.

He curled up on the bed, grateful that he was at least able to stay solid enough for that. He missed being able to cry.

As the months passed by, he slowly learned to be okay with it.

He was a ghost, but he was still here. He still had his friends, they had Lloyd back, and for once, everything was okay.

It didn’t last very long.

Day of the Departed was fast approaching. Cole was excited, to be honest. He liked the celebrations, the candy, the peaceful atmosphere that surrounded the night. His dad was going to perform a concert, and then they were going to go home and honor their own.

The terror that struck his heart when his friends walked right through him was astronomical.

They couldn’t see him, they didn’t even seem to realize he was gone.

The night only got progressively worse from there.

He’d unleashed the dead, and if his friends didn’t manage to defeat them, all of Ninjago would pay for his mistake. Yang had locked him up like a dog, but he had managed to get out. And now they were on the roof. Time was ticking. The rift would close soon.

But then the crazy old man went on to explain that he’d only ever done all of this so he could be remembered. Logically, it was terrible reasoning. But it struck something in Cole’s heart. 

He knew what it felt like to feel alone.

“There’s still time to go through,” Cole said, praying he didn’t regret this. “Both of us.”

Halfway up, Yang threw himself out of their airjitzu bubble and plummeted back down. Cole didn’t have time to react before he reached the rift.

The first thing he registered was pain.

This terrible, horrible pain that had him wanting to scream. There was fire spreading through his veins, every muscle spasming, every bone aching.

He landed harshly on the ground.

The dirt was harder than it should have been, but — wait. The dirt. He could feel it. Holy shit. It had worked! He was human again!

He began to sit up, but was stopped by a pain so much worse than before. He gasped, collapsing back into the dirt. 

There was blood gushing from his side.

But why — how — what? This wasn’t supposed to be happening. He should have felt good as new, not like he was dying for real!

He whimpered, pressing his hands against the wound and hissing in pain at the feeling. First master, it hurt so bad.

The blood was warm, and it was staining his hands. The flow of it wasn’t stopping.

In this distance, he could just barely hear his friends. 

“Help…” he whispered, digging his nails in around the skin and clamping down on the wound. He couldn’t move other than that. He couldn’t get to them. He could barely even cry for help.

He had just regained his mortality and now it was stabbing him in the back. Or rather, the side.

He giggled at his own joke, then gasped at the feeling it had created.

He needed to get their attention, but hardly any sound would leave his mouth. 

He was going to die like this, wasn’t he?

After everything, he was going to bleed out in the dirt, alone and afraid. 

He wished he’d never fought with Jay over Nya. That had been so… it had been so stupid. He hoped Jay would choose to remember the better parts of their relationship once they found Cole’s body.

Jay had been his best friend.

He was going to miss him so much.

Black spots began to dot his vision. “I need—” he gasped, his final plea barely making it past his lips. “Help…”

His entire being went numb.
