Fenrys x Reader fluff
A/N: dipping my toe back into writing to see if I can still do it before I try to conquer requests
Tumblr media
Soft wisps of clouds drifted lazily across the vibrant blue skies of Terrasen, the gentle breeze that blew along with them granting a cool contrast to the sun on your skin.
Pushing your arms above your head, toes pointed as you stretched the muscles throughout your body, a gentle yawn following along with your satisfied smile.
“Beautiful,” Fenrys whispered next to you, watching as you hummed in agreement.
Your hands twined in the blades of grass beneath them as you savored the feeling of the emerald earth against your skin. “It is a beautiful day,” you sighed, eyes fluttering shut as you moved your arms to fold behind your head.
The feeling of warmth from the sun gave way to a different, familiar warmth as Fenrys’s body turned into your own, a broad hand sliding across your waist. “I wasn’t talking about the weather,” he murmured, voice rough and low from where his mouth settled at your throat.
Heat rose to your cheeks, breath drawing shallow at the feeling of his knowing grin spreading across the sensitive skin, canines dragging lightly down to rest on your collarbone. Faster than you could process, Fenrys pulled away, onyx eyes taking in your dazed expression, the flush on your cheeks and chest heavy with want.
“Fenrys,” you half-scolded, half-pleaded as your hand reached to brush golden curls from his face. With a low laugh, your mate, caught your hand with his, eyes still locked on yours as he pressed a tender kiss to your palm.
“Care to join me for a swim?” he questioned, eyebrow arched as he glanced between you and the sparkling lake that lay just down the hill. Unsure if it was the clouds that had slowly disappeared from the sky, or the way Fenrys was looking at you, a wave of heat coursed through your veins.
You nodded swiftly, allowing Fenrys to draw you to your feet just to throw you over his shoulder as he began bounding towards the lake. Your weak, laughter-filled protests had no effect on the warrior, setting you back on your feet when he’d reached the water’s edge.
Stripping off his shirt, your mate flashed you a lopsided grin as his hands reached for the ties of his pants. “Are you going to join me, or do you prefer to watch?” he teased, nodding at the dress still covering your body.
Rolling your eyes, you smiled up at him. “Of course, I’ll join you anywhere,” you promised, pushing up onto your toes as he met you for a kiss.
“Then allow me,” he murmured against your lips, his mouth trailing down your jaw and lower, towards where his hands deftly undid the laces of your dress. The warm sun bore its heat upon your newly exposed skin for only a moment before Fenrys’s hands found your backside, your legs instinctively wrapping around his waist while he carried you into the cool lake.
“I love you,” you whispered, arms locked around his neck, head laid against his chest where you listened to his heartbeat.
Lips pressed against the top of your head, and lingered there. “And I love you.” Lowering you to where you stood in the water, chests pressed against one another, Fenrys’s arms wound around you once more, a cocoon of solace into which you gratefully relaxed.
You simply stood there for awhile - enjoying the closeness of one another, the oneness with your mate and with nature - before finally stepping out of the water. As Fenrys helped redo the last ties on your dress, his dark eyes grew soft - a look that you knew all too well at this point.
His gaze shone with sincerity, with the same devotion he’d shown as he spoke his vows on your wedding day. Dark eyes grew soft, his hands winding through your hair to tilt your gaze to his. “Thank you, for just being with me,” he smiled softly.
Returning his smile, you brought your hands to his cheeks. “Every day, I don’t know how I could love you any more than I already do. Yet every day, I fall for you a little more. There is nowhere I would rather be than by your side. On the best days, on the worst days, on these quiet days. I’ll go anywhere with you.”

Part Sixteen
Home.
The word spins around in her head at a dizzying pace as she walks. As she gets closer and closer to their room, her brother’s words get louder in her mind, your home, and her heart seems to beat in time with the words. This room wasn’t her home, but neither was the cottage across the ocean, she didn’t know where home was anymore, but it seemed like her brother did, perhaps her heart did too.
Y/n and Vaughan had spent nearly half the night telling each other of their adventures, the ones they planned to take, and it felt like they’d gone back in time. When she would stay up for as long as she physically could to spend as much time with him as possible before he slipped away again. She’d nearly fallen over in her seat when Vaughan had insisted that she go back to bed, she only left when he swore he would still be there in the morning. Even as she walked away, she wasn’t quite convinced he would be.
The stone halls around her are dark, the riders of the clan already in their beds, the torches on the walls snuffed out. It is only due to her fae sight and this little tugging in her gut that she is able to find the door to the room at all. It was like her body knew exactly where Fenrys was, even when she could not see him.
Quietly, she slips through the door, expecting to find him snoring in the small bed and she’d have to force herself into what little space was left beside the massive male. She’d end up lying on top of him in her sleep, either by her traitor of a body moving on its own, or by the male tugging her onto his chest.
Instead, she finds Fenrys sitting up, leaning heavily against the wall behind the bed, and he’s squinting down at a book in the dim candle light. Her heart beats faster, in time with the words in her head, home, home, home.
“You’re still up?”
His gaze lifts to hers and she winces, how he was reading with one of his eyes nearly swollen shut she has no idea. Fenrys marks the page and sets the book down beside him, giving her a soft grin that pulls at the split in his lip. Y/n moves towards him, perching on the edge of the bed, reaching for him like its second nature. She cradles his face in her palms, her thumb stroking over the wounded lips that had kissed her so soundly earlier, had kissed other parts of her too. Y/n tries to push those memories to the side, ignoring the heat in her veins, but that is nearly impossible when his hands fall on her waist, a gentle pressure to keep her in place.
“I told you I’d wait for you,” he says, kissing the pad of her thumb.
“You didn’t have to,” she whispers, “It’s late.”
Fenrys shrugs, and she notices the wince he tries to hide at the motion, “This is nothing, kitten. I’ve gone days, nearly weeks without sleep before.”
“I’m sure you have,” Y/n says with a soft smile, “You’ll have to tell me all of your war stories.”
Fenrys grins and it pulls on his cut lip, “I’ll tell you whatever stories you’d like to hear.”
Her fingers trail over the edge of the bruise around his eye and the one on his jaw, her magic spooling in her chest, ready to be released. She holds it back, wrestling her magic into submission, the last time she’d used her powers on him had been an accident but it had taken to much from him against his will, she wouldn’t do that again.
“Can I?” She lightly grazes the cut on his temple, “I don’t want you to be in pain.”
There is a softness in his eyes, an understanding, as he nods once, “Do your worst, kitten.”
As if drawn in by an invisible force, she leans into him, gently kissing his temple, the cut slowly stitching together and disappearing entirely. When his eyes shut, a sigh of relief passing his lips, she trails her lips down, touching the bruised eye that shifts from black to yellow to his golden brown skin. And when he blinks up at her, seeing her clearly, his eyes are so full of emotion, and her heart is beating so rapidly, home, home, home, she kisses him, letting her magic seek and heal.
His arms are around her, pulling her into him until she is flush against his chest. She fights to keep her control, to not let his expert mouth distract her, to make her as mindless as she’d been their first kiss, when she had taken to much. She pulls back, panting, forcing her magic back down into the well it usually sat in, and when she sees that scar still intact on his brow, she sighs in relief.
Fenrys takes a deep breath, his brows no longer furrowed in pain, “You’re astonishing, kitten.”
Before she can even think to respond, his mouth is on hers again, and Fenrys shifts, twisting them so she is lying on the bed with him above her. Y/n wraps her arms around his neck, and Fenrys kisses her, slowly, lazily, taking his time to drive her absolutely wild. He is in no rush, taking all of her soft sighs and purrs, tucking them away for later. It’s almost torturous, the languid pace he sets, because all she wants is more, more of him, more of whatever this thing between them was, the aching need, the undeniable tug she could feel on her heart, as if there was this little string tied to it, and on the other side sat Fenrys and his own heart, beating in time with her own. Home, home, home.
He pulls back, just enough to whisper against her lips, “We should sleep.”
It’s the last thing she wants to do, and she knows he wants exactly what she does, the evidence of that is pressed against her thigh. She wants to wrap her legs around him and pull him closer to her, to feel him pressed against her core instead, to drive him as wild as he does her. But his massive form keeps her pinned, unable to move, to do anything but beg him to relieve some of the pressure between her thighs.
“Fenrys,” she pleads.
He kisses her again, keeping that same slow pace, before whispering, “You’re exhausted, you need to rest.”
“I need you,” she says, and she pulls him back to her lips, pouring the fire in her veins into him, “I need you more than I’ve needed anything.”
Her heart is hammering in her chest, home, home, home. Y/n can feel the word pounding against her ribs, fueling the fire in her veins, the need to drive this male over the edge of his control. She pulls his healed lip between her teeth, biting hard enough to draw a groan from deep in his chest. Her own chest tightens, and she arches into him, his hands slip beneath her back, pressing her closer and she knows she’s almost won.
“You need sleep.” He kisses her between each word, pulling back just enough to groan, “Let me be a gentleman for once in my life.”
“Fenrys,” she gasps into his mouth, and she shoves him over the edge, “Stop being so honorable and fuck me.”
And she’s won.
“Fuck, you’re going to be the death of me, kitten.”
Fenrys feels the weak hold over his control break at her request and he realizes he would do anything she asked of him, no blood oath necessary. He would walk into the burning pit in the center of this fortress if she asked, he would burn and yield everything he was and is and he would die happily. He would do whatever she wanted and if she wanted him to fuck her, gods he would.
He pulls away from her and rips his shirt over his head, throwing the fabric across the room, not caring where it lands as her legs wrap around his hips, pulling their bodies flush together. Fenrys can’t hold back his groan as she rolls her hips upwards, giving his aching hard length much needed friction. He’s falling back into her, capturing her lips in a burning kiss that leaves them both panting.
His hands rip at the cloth hiding her body from him, she can yell at him for ruining the shirt later, right now he needs to see the perfect shape of her, feel her beneath his palms. When her chest is exposed to him, he wastes no time, the soft flesh of her breast fitting perfectly into his hands as if they were made solely to touch her, to please her.
Fenrys drags his mouth away from hers, letting her moans fill the air around them as he kisses down her throat, over her collar, and between the valley of her breasts. Y/n arches into him, her legs squeezing his hips like a vice, and he can feel the promising heat of her hiding beneath her leggings. He wants nothing more than to rip the cloth from her legs and sink into that heat, and from the whimpering pleas coming from her lips, he knows that is exactly what she wants.
“Fen- please,” she gasps, her head thrown back against the pillow, “Gods I need you.”
“I know,” Fenrys groans, “Lift your hips, kitten.”
She readily does as she’s told, freeing him from the constraints of her legs around his own hips to lift hers off of the bed, allowing Fenrys to slip his fingers beneath the band of her leggings and tug them off, underwear and all. And again, she is bare beneath him, looking nothing less than a full feast only for him to see and enjoy, to devour and worship. If he wasn’t already kneeling on the bed before her, he’d have fallen onto his knees at the sight of her, he’d have crawled for her and begged her to let him have her just like this, writhing beneath him full of need.
She sits forwards, reaching for him as she hooks her fingers into the laces of his leathers. Each brush of her fingers over the strained leather sends a shock of pain and pleasure over him, if she wraps those hands around him Fenrys may just die from it.
She struggles with the tight laces and growls lowly, “Off.”
Fenrys laughs, taking her wrist in his hands, “So impatient.”
He lifts her left wrist to his lips, kissing her racing pulse before pressing both of her palms to his chest. Her touch lights him on fire, and he takes that touch and guides it across his feverish skin, lower and lower. Her nails lightly drag across the tight muscles of his stomach and Fenrys groans at the slight hurt.
He let’s go of her, leaving her hands pressed to his skin as he easily works open the laces, sighing in relief as the pressure lessens.
“What do you need?” Fenrys asks, halting his movements even if it’s the last thing he wants to do, “Tell me what you need, kitten.”
Her pupils are blown impossibly wide, full of pure lust, “I need you, Fenrys, I need you inside me, now.”
That final word, a demand that he would not fight, could not fight. He’d survived severing the blood oath, but this? This bond between them, this incessant need to have her in every way he could, was so much stronger, would demand more than just his life if he tried to break it, not that he ever would.
Fenrys doesn’t take his time ripping off his leathers, and he nearly comes undone when she moans at the sight of him. He doesn’t have the chance to hesitate, to ask her one last time if this is what she truly wants, before Y/n has her legs wrapped around him, pulling him just like she had when they’d been clothed. Now, there was nothing between them, nothing between the wet heat of her and his aching cock.
“Fuck,” he groans, leaning over her to brace his arms on either side of her, “So ready for me aren’t you, kitten?”
“Yes,” she gasps, “Please Fen-“
She doesn’t have to beg, he cannot deny her, or himself. Fenrys shifts, using one hand to hold his weight while the other wraps around his cock to guide himself to her entrance. She’s so wet, so ready for him, that he barely has to shift his hips forward to sink into her. She wraps around him so perfectly, squeezing down on every inch of him as he slowly settles inside her. He has to grasp for whatever is left of his control to not slam his hips down, to let her adjust to the stretch, to not hurt her. He’s barely holding on by a thread with how fucking good she feels.
“Shit,” Y/n gasps, her head thrown back, her eyes screwed shut.
“Are you okay?” He says it through his teeth, taking deep breaths to steady himself, “Tell me if it hurts.”
Y/n shifts, experimentally rolling her hips, drawing a deep and desperate moan from his lips and a matching one from her own. Nothing had ever felt more perfect, felt this good, not in the one hundred and thirty years he’d been alive.
“Gods,” she gasps, rolling those perfect hips again, “Please, Fen, I need you to move.”
“Thank the fucking gods,” Fenrys groans and does exactly as she asks.
He pulls back, gently rocking back into her, still sane enough to keep his strength in check. Fenrys captures her lips, greedily taking all of the moans and whimpers that he draws from her with each roll of his hips. He also gives her his own desperate sounds, letting her have every single piece of him.
He’s content to go slow, to let her fully adjust, but when she lifts her hips to meet his next stroke, when she pulls away from his kiss to gasp, “Fuck me like you mean it.”
Any shred of chivalry leaves his body, as if there was really any to begin with.
Fenrys growls as he pulls back, simply to snap his hips forward, Y/n cries out with the motion and Fenrys loves the sound of it, so he does it again, and again, and again. She is lost in the pleasure, and so is he, chasing the feeling of her warmth around him with each rough drive of his hips. Her legs clench tightly around him and her hands claw his forearms, her whole body tensing in a way that tells Fenrys she is nearing that peak of pleasure and he wants nothing more than to send her over the edge of it.
He has to pull his arm from her intense grip, not breaking his rhythm as he brings his hand between them to draw his thumb in circles around her sensitive clit.
“Fenrys!”
He grins wildly, “Come for me.”
His demand is met by a mewling whimper and her body shaking with the damn of her orgasm breaking. Fenrys curses as she clenches around him, the feeling so intense that he feels his own release building to that devastating breaking point.
She’s gasping beneath him, her body still trembling with each wave of pleasure that rolls through her in time with his hips. Fenrys is half wild, more fae than anything in that moment, the sight of her beneath him, spent and nearly overstimulated has his hips driving faster, harder. His thumb presses into her again, she jolts and shakes with each pass over the bundle of nerves.
“Fuck,” she cries, “I can’t-“
“You can,” he groans, “One more, give me one more.”
He can already feel her muscles tensing again, the ones around his cock clenching almost painfully around him, bringing him closer and closer until he’s holding on by a thread. He needs her to come first, to fall with him, to feel the same intense emotion that is wrapping around his heart and pulling him down the cliffs edge into the terrifying realization that perhaps he’s already fallen.
Y/n cries out as her swift second orgasm tears through her, and Fenrys follows her, cursing as the intense pleasure rips him to shreds and remakes him all at once.
He rides out both of their pleasures, slowly bringing them down from that high until she stops shaking with it. She goes limp beneath him, her legs falling off his waist, to heavy for her to hold up anymore and Fenrys nearly collapses onto her, holding his weight off of her with the last bit of his strength. Her eyes are heavy with exhaustion, her hair a wild mess on the pillow around her, and she is so perfect, so devastatingly beautiful, he wants to have her like this for the rest of their lives.
Mine, his heart beats with the word, and he doesn’t want to hold it back anymore.
Fenrys leans into her, kissing her lips softly, relishing the way she sleepily kisses him back.
“Mine,” he says, claiming her with his mouth and his heart.
She moans against him, and pulls away to gasp, “Mine.”

Follow You Fenrys x Reader x Azriel
Tumblr media
Summery: 30 years ago, Y/N fell through a portal and woke up in Prythian naked an afraid. She counted herself lucky that she was found by the shadowsinger and his high lord, who took her in and gave her a home. Despite their hospitality she dreamed of her home and the mate she left behind, Fenrys, who searched for her until one day.. he finds her.
AN:- GUYS this fanfic has legit been keeping me up at night so I thought I would share it with you all hahaha!!.
The light of the morning sun edged its head between the crack in the curtains, Azriel knew you were still asleep in the bed you shared, still snuggled between the sheets. He cursed himself for not coming through the door and choosing to fly straight to the balcony after work, spy work. Slowly he pushed the door open and poked his head inside. Relieved to see he hadn't wakened you up, he walked inside, spreading his wings to block out the rising sun from your face. Closing the door he walked over to his side of the bed, sat down and started kicking off his boots when he heard you stir behind him. "You're home late" You groan as he tips his head over his shoulder to look at you "Did something happen?" you continue and shuffle along the bed to make some room. "No, just had some reports to write up" Azriel answered as he slid into bed and wrapped you in his arms. Smiling softly, you nuzzled into his chest, still cold from riding on the wind to get home. You hummed sleepily and allowed yourself to fall back into that familiar comfort he offered you and began to dream.
30 Years Earlier Terrasen, your home as wild and free as your queen, Aelin. You sat at the dining table with Lysandra and Aedion as they spoke softly to their adoptive daughter. You hummed to yourself as you worked on the jewelry in your hand, slowly needling little diamonds onto it. You were so deep in concentration you didn't notice your mate's approach until his large hands landed on your shoulders, jolting you slightly. "Fen!" you yelp turning in your seat to look back at the golden male. Fenry's smiled down to you, his large canines making his smile look a little more sinister than he attended. "Did I scare you?" he chuckled, sliding into the seat next to you after placing a small kiss to the top of your head. "No" you lie and continue working on the necklace you're working on for Lysandra. You felt him move closer to you, his nose buried in your hair as he inhaled your sent "why don't we go for a swim? get your mind off this" he purred, his hand coming up to cover the necklace in your hand. You felt the want for him almost immediately, the hot pool in the pits of your stomach started to raise its head at his tone of voice. "There is a child present" Aedion snapped from the other side of the table, drawing both sets of eyes to him. Both you and your mate chuckled and decided to leave the room, together.
Fenrys was your typical fae male mate, he never left your side unless he needed to, he was territorial and protective... but what you loved most about him was he was fun. His golden hair was tied back in a bun, showing off his high cheekbones and sharp jaw line that made him look delicious. His onyx eyes slid to yours as a small smirk rose on his lips " like what you see?" he asked as he wrapped a toned, golden arm around your waist. "Always" you answer matching his smirk with your own. Your answer made his smile grow into his normal shit-eating grin, you roll your eyes playfully and rest your head on his shoulder as you continue making your way outside. The warm air kissed your skin as you opened the door to the courtyard, it was a beautiful day.
You and Fenrys skinny dipped in the lake not far from the keep, splashing each other playfully while swimming around in the cool water. What neither mate realized was this was the last day they were going to spend together, the last happy memory they would share before you were stripped from his arms in the middle of the night.
And dumped in Prythian.
Present Day
Mate, mate, mate, mate.
You miss your mate. As the dream rattles you awake you realise that Az is still asleep next to you, guilt hits you so fast you run out of the room and into the bathroom to throw up. As you retch into the toilet bowl you hear Az approach the bathroom and knock softly from the other side of the door. "Another dream?" he asks as he enters the room and crouches beside you to rub soothing circles on your back. "My mate" you answer as you peer at him between strands of fallen hair. He nods slowly, understanding the pain you feel and tucks some strands behind your ear. "Did you dream of falling again?" he asks, his voice as soft and gentle as silk. You nod once in response as your gut twists again threatening to spill more into the toilet bowl. Azriel was the most understanding person you had ever met, you weren't always with him, you were friends first. He was the one to find you that day, laying cold and naked on the forest floor. He took you to Rhysand, where he looked into your mind and saw everything, your home, your family.. Fenrys. It had taken some time for both sides to trust you, but in those years that Rhys was under the mountain you had grown close with the inner circle. Particularly Az. He knew your past, knew of the mate that you had been ripped away from... but he loved you all the same and was willing to give you the time you needed.
So here you both sat in front of the toilet bowl for the thousandth time in your relationship. Him giving you soft soothing words while you mourned the loss of your mate and your life. After some time, he scooped you into his arms and placed you back into bed. ......................
Later that day you sat in the living room with Feyre and Nyx, laughing as you watched the young lad learn to walk but failing. A warm cup of tea sat in your hands, the heat slightly burning the sensitive flesh of your palm, but you ignored it. Azriel had been called on by Cassian, something about a disturbance near the Illyrian camps they had to check out. He placed a warm kiss on your cheek before he flew off with his brother. "Any improvement?" Nesta asked as she walked into the room and plopped onto the couch next to you. "Hardly" Feyre answered as she took the babe back into her arms and planted kisses all over his face, making nyx scream in laughter. You and Nesta smiled as Nyx's fits of giggles filled the room, you looked to Nesta and offered her the cup in your hands. "its still warm" you prod as you hand the tea to her, she sips it then hands it back to you.
You and Nesta were best friends, she was a huge bitch to you at the start but recently... she's been the only person besides Az that understands your pain, your longing for home. She's also the only person in this whole house that reads dirty smut books with you.
"Bleh, I hate peppermint tea" she croons as she pulls a face, looking at the cup in your hands. "But its good for you" you jest and give her a sweet smile, bringing the tea back to your own lips. You and Nesta spend the rest of the afternoon talking and watching her nephew rise and fall. Feyre is about to out Nyx down for a nap when Rhysands voice fills your head.
"Come to the forest at once"
You and Feyre share a look, obviously she had been given orders to winnow you there. She quickly explains this all to Nesta then plops her son into her sisters hands, you hadn't had time to say anything to Nesta before Feyre grabbed you and winnowed away to the forest. Snow crunched under your feet as you landed behind the three warriors. Cassian, Az and Rhysand all had their weapons out and their backs turned to you. The wind hit your body so hard it almost knocked you backwards, the smell of pine and snow filling your senses as you tried to blink away the stinging in your eyes. "I don't want to fight you" came a rough voice that didn't belong to the three males in front of you, but did belong to someone you knew. Rowan, your oldest cousin and longest friend. Stalking forward you pushed through the three males that shielded you, you could have fell to your knees as Rowan's eyes met your own. A hand flew in front of you protectively, but you knocked it away as you ran to him, calling his name over and over. "y/n!" Rowan shouted, dropping his sword so he could wrap you in his arms. "How? How?" You asked as you buried your face into your cousin's neck, your body shaking as he held you against him. "Aelin, she worked it out" he explained as he pulled you away from him, his eyes darting from one side of your face to another taking in everything you were and everything you are. The Night Court stood behind you in complete shock, their faces blank as they watched the scene unfold in front of them. Azriel felt the pull to go and comfort you but held strong, not knowing this male and how he would react. Then a crunch of twigs caught their attention, a small blonde female emerged from the forest surrounding them, a small ball of fire danced in her palm as she walked towards you and rowan. You looked to Aelin for the first time in 30 years, she looked slightly older but unchanged from the Aelin in your memories. You didn't even shout her name, as she approached you fell to your knees and placed your head on the snow below you. "Aelin, forgive me" you pleaded to her, to your queen "I tried to come home but-" you continued but your words hitched in your throat as you felt her body call over yours. "Don't apologies you idiot" she said against your skin, slowly you raised and hugged her back while rowan stared down the night court still behind you. "Should we introduce ourselves?" Cassian mumbled to no one in particular catching your attention. You take Aelin's hand and help her stand; you walk her and your cousin over to your friends and make introductions. "This is your cousin?" Cassian asked, nodding his head to Rowan as he stood with Aelin, a protective arm wrapped around her waist as he held her close. You nodded in response and looked up to the white hair male, his green eyes still darted between each person in front of him. " He is a bit of a brute" you say as you turn your attention back to the night court, earning a small smile from Feyre and a chuckle from Az. It hit you then, Azriel was here and had watched you reunite with your family, your court. You took a few steps toward him, but he held up his hand stopping you from coming any closer, confused, you nodded and stood still. Rhysand invited Aelin and Rowan to stay in the townhouse while the night court discussed their next move, they obliged and allowed Rhy's to winnow them away. "You must be happy" Feyre said coming to your side and wrapping an arm around your shoulders. "I am" you said smiling back to her " I could go home" you continue softly. Feyre looks over her shoulder to Az who stares emotionless into the distance, she sighs and then turns her head forward again and whispers "he will miss you". You feel that guilt from earlier pang around in your chest again, you don't dare to look back at the shadowsinger, you and he both knew that your time together had just come to an end. " I will miss him too" you confess as Rhys winnows back to the forest.
"Come on, I will take you to be alone with them" Rhy's says and extends a tanned hand to you, smiling you leave Feyre's embrace and fit your hand in his. Not looking back as he takes you to the family you have dreamed of every night for the last 30 years.

The outpost was eerily quiet, save for the distant howl of the wind outside. The cold stone walls did little to keep the chill at bay, and the fire in the hearth burned low, its feeble warmth barely reaching the center of the room. She stood by the window, arms wrapped tightly around herself, watching the snow swirl and dance in the night.
Lorcan sat across the room, sharpening one of his blades with slow, deliberate movements. The metallic scrape echoed in the silence, grating and purposeful, as if he was daring her to speak first. He didn’t look at her.
“Another mission done,” she said, her voice low, breaking the stillness.
“Hm.” The sound was dismissive, his focus never wavering from the blade in his hands.
She turned, leaning against the windowsill, her arms dropping to her sides. “Is that all you have to say?”
His dark eyes flicked up briefly before returning to his task. “What else is there to say? We survived. That’s enough.”
The coldness in his tone cut deeper than she’d expected, and her jaw tightened. “You don’t think it’s worth talking about? The fact that it was another trap? That Maeve sent us into another gods-damned death mission?”
“You’re alive,” he said flatly. “That’s what matters.”
“Barely,” she snapped, taking a step toward him. “But I guess that doesn’t matter to you, does it? As long as we’re breathing, it’s fine. Just another day serving Maeve like the obedient dogs we are.”
His hand stilled, the blade catching the light as he set it down. When he looked up at her, his gaze was cold, calculating. “If you’re not cut out for this, maybe you shouldn’t have sworn the oath.”
The words landed like a blow, and she staggered back a step, her chest tightening. “You think I want this? You think I wanted to swear myself to her?”
“Did someone force you?” he asked, his voice sharp, mocking. “No? Then don’t complain about the choices you made.”
Her breath hitched, and she turned away, unable to look at him. The sting of his words mixed with the weight of her anger and exhaustion, threatening to choke her.
“I should’ve known,” she said quietly, her voice trembling. “You don’t care about anyone but yourself.”
He stood abruptly, the scrape of the chair against the floor loud in the silence. “Don’t presume to know what I care about,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.
“Then tell me,” she said, whirling to face him, her eyes blazing. “Tell me why you’re so gods-damned loyal to her. Why you follow her orders without question, even when you know it’s killing us. What is it, Lorcan? What keeps you chained to her like a dog?”
His jaw tightened, his hands curling into fists at his sides. “You wouldn’t understand.”
“Try me,” she shot back, stepping closer, her voice shaking with anger and something rawer. “Because I’m standing here, breaking myself for this—for you—and you won’t even look at me.”
He flinched at the accusation, but the mask of indifference remained firmly in place. “Don’t make this about me,” he said coldly. “You’re not here for me. You’re here because you swore the same oath I did.”
“And that’s all I am to you? Another oath? Another pawn in Maeve’s games?”
His silence was answer enough.
The room felt impossibly small, the air thick with unspoken words and frayed emotions. She took a shaky breath, forcing herself to speak even as her heart ached. “You can’t keep doing this, Lorcan. Pushing me away, shutting me out. It’s not going to make the bond disappear.”
His expression darkened, his lips pulling into a tight line. “The bond doesn’t matter,” he said harshly. “It doesn’t mean anything. Not to me.”
The words were a dagger to her chest, and she staggered back as if he’d physically struck her.
He saw the hurt flash across her face and immediately hated himself for it, but he didn’t take the words back. He couldn’t. Not when the truth was so much harder to face.
“Fine,” she said, her voice breaking. “If it doesn’t mean anything, then neither do I.”
Before he could respond, she turned and stormed out, the door slamming shut behind her.
Lorcan stood there, staring at the empty space she’d left behind, the weight of his words crashing down on him. He clenched his fists, his nails biting into his palms, but the pain was nothing compared to the ache spreading through his chest.
For the first time in centuries, he felt something dangerously close to regret.
But Lorcan was too stubborn to let go of his pride. She would understand at some point. That he is not meant to have a mate.
The bond, while recently discovered by the both of them, lay unacknowledged by either. Though he could see how much the female whom he has known for so long is trying to create something out of this.
But it would be useless. Lorcan knew it. He was not meant to have a mate. How could one ever have a mate after walking a lonely road for so long? Too much blood, too many sins on his hands.
Besides, he was too much of a monster to even know anything outside of pain, bloodshed, loss and anger. His shadows, his demons constantly consumed him and that was enough to draw him away from everyone. Including her.
—————
Y/n had loved him for as long as she could remember. Well, maybe not from the very start because the way they met wasn’t quite under the best conditions.
She was a rebel, part of a secret organization that went against those in power. She still remembers how one hundred and fifty years ago, she was captured by The Cadre and brought to Doranelle.
There, under Maeve’s orders she was questioned. Fenrys and Gavriel constantly tried going the diplomatic way and ease her into talking while Lorcan and Rowan would just vote to have her tortured.
Y/n smiled at the memory.
Though they all started at the wrong foot, eventually she grew closer with the males, even going as far as to prove her usefulness to Maeve and swearing a blood oath, a choice she has come to very much regret.
The boys see her as a part of them now. A younger sister and a very capable fighter with a unique power.
But Lorcan…..he has always been this way and not just towards her but to the others too. It just hurt a little more because she unfortunately grew to deeply care for him.
That is why, on one random day when both her and Lorcan found out about their bond was also the moment all her dreams with him came crashing down.
He said very hurtful things that day, how he would never accept it. How he will never even acknowledge it and neither should she.
Y/n tried, she really tried to get through to him but alas, everyone has a breaking point. And yesterday was the final straw for her.
How much longer is that prick going to choose Maeve over his mate? His fucking mate!!
How much longer is he going to follow every order of that poisonous queen and defend her in every argument?
It hurt….and she was tired. Tired of trying to get through to him. She has been doing that from the moment they met and now it was time to stop.
Y/n sighed as she cleared her mind, put on her stoic mask, straightened her shoulders and entered the sitting room of Doranelle’s Grand Stone Palace, designed specifically to fit the taste of her bitchy majesty, Queen Maeve.
Upon entrance however, she noticed that the queen is yet to arrive. Rowan, Fenrys and Gavriel were all scattered around the room, with the silver haired warrior standing next to the gigantic windows and watching the view over Doranelle and the latter two sitting on opposite armchairs.
Lorcan was nowhere to be seen but, she would not concern herself with the thoughts of him.
"Y/n! Finally you are here." Gavriel's voice brought her back as she looked to see all three of them looked straight at her.
Y/n offered a tight smile to Gavriel as she moved further into the room. Fenrys shot her a grin, his golden eyes sparkling with mischief. “Well, well, look who finally decided to grace us with her presence. Let me guess, Lorcan was brooding too much, and you needed a break?”
Y/n snorted, pulling off her gloves and tossing them onto a side table. “More like I was brooding, and he needed a break.”
Rowan turned from the window, his piercing gaze scanning her face. His sharp instincts probably caught the flicker of tension in her shoulders, but he said nothing. Instead, he inclined his head. “How was the mission?”
She shrugged, aiming for nonchalance. “Standard Maeve nonsense. Get in, retrieve the target, fight off a few surprises along the way. Nothing we haven’t done a hundred times before.”
“Yet you look like you’ve been through hell,” Fenrys said, leaning forward in his chair. “What happened out there?”
Y/n hesitated, feeling their eyes on her. She knew they cared, but she couldn’t bring herself to explain the emotional storm that had brewed between her and Lorcan. “The usual,” she said finally. “Maeve’s intelligence wasn’t exactly accurate. There was an ambush.”
Gavriel frowned. “An ambush? Were you injured?”
“Nothing I couldn’t handle,” she said quickly. “We managed.”
“You managed?” Fenrys repeated, a skeptical brow arching. “Sounds like there’s more to that story.”
“There isn’t,” Y/n said firmly, brushing past him and sinking into one of the chairs. “It’s over now. That’s all that matters.”
The males exchanged glances, their concern evident, but they didn’t press further. Instead, Fenrys leaned back with a dramatic sigh. “Well, next time, try not to steal all the excitement. We’ve been stuck here dealing with Maeve’s mood swings. Honestly, I’d take an ambush over her any day.”
Y/n allowed herself a small chuckle. “Careful, Fenrys. She might hear you.”
“Let her,” Fenrys said with a smirk. “I live to irritate her.”
Rowan rolled his eyes. “You live to irritate everyone.”
“True,” Fenrys admitted, grinning. “But I do it so well.”
The light banter was a welcome distraction, and Y/n felt some of the tension in her chest ease. For a moment, it was almost enough to forget the weight of the bond, the mission, and Lorcan’s cold words. Almost.
The grand double doors swung open with a creak, and the room fell silent as Maeve swept in, her dark hair gleaming and her presence commanding as ever. Her sharp eyes scanned the room, lingering briefly on Y/n before flicking to the others.
“Good,” Maeve said, her voice like silk wrapped around steel. “You’re all here.”
Y/n straightened in her seat, instinctively falling into the poised composure Maeve demanded. But then her heart sank as another figure stepped into the room behind the queen.
Lorcan.
His towering presence was as dark and imposing as ever, but it was the way he stood at Maeve’s side, slightly behind her like a shadow, that made Y/n’s stomach churn. He looked as though he belonged there, loyal and unyielding, his gaze sweeping over the room without a flicker of acknowledgment in her direction.
Fenrys stiffened, his usual easygoing demeanor vanishing in an instant. Rowan’s jaw tightened, his expression unreadable. Gavriel was the only one who spoke, his voice calm but tense. “Maeve. Lorcan. What’s the occasion?”
Maeve’s smile was sharp, predatory. “A new directive,” she said, her gaze landing on Y/n. “But first, I’d like to hear about your little adventure.”
Y/n clenched her fists, forcing herself to meet Maeve’s piercing gaze. “The mission was completed successfully,” she said evenly. “We retrieved the artifact and neutralized the threats.”
Maeve’s smile didn’t falter, but her eyes glittered with something that made Y/n’s skin crawl. “Good. I expected no less.”
Lorcan said nothing, his face carved from stone, but his silence was louder than any words. It echoed in the room, in her chest, as Maeve began to speak of their next orders, her voice a cold melody weaving a new web of commands. Y/n barely heard her, her focus splintered by the man standing silently by the queen’s side, the mate who had once again chosen duty over her.
“And you,” Maeve said, her voice honeyed and venomous all at once. “I have a special task for you.”
Y/n’s spine straightened, her expression unreadable, her mask firmly in place. “Of course, my queen.”
Maeve tilted her head, a mockery of affection flickering in her eyes. “I’ve decided to send you on a mission of utmost importance. Alone.”
The room tensed. Fenrys shifted in his seat, his golden eyes flicking to Y/n with concern. Gavriel’s brows furrowed, his mouth opening as if to protest, but one glance from Maeve silenced him. Even Rowan, stoic as ever, allowed his jaw to tighten, his fingers flexing where they rested at his side.
She was never sent on a mission alone. It was always with one of the members because 1. Maeve, no matter how much she pretended, never trusted y/n and 2. The males would always manage to protest against her going alone, though it is not something she hasn't done before.
Y/n didn’t flinch. She didn’t allow even the faintest crack in her calm facade. “What would you have me do?”
Maeve’s smile widened, pleased with her composure. “There is a rebel camp in the northern cliffs. They’ve been meddling in my affairs, intercepting important supplies. I want you to dismantle them—destroy their operation entirely.”
The silence that followed was deafening. Rowan finally broke it, his voice carefully measured. “The northern cliffs are treacherous, especially this time of year.”
“Which is precisely why I’m entrusting this to her,” Maeve said smoothly, her gaze never leaving y/n. “She has proven herself capable time and time again. Haven’t you?”
Y/n inclined her head. “I’ll see it done.”
A flicker of something unreadable crossed Lorcan’s face, but he stayed silent, his broad shoulders stiff. Fenrys leaned forward, his hands gripping the armrests of his chair. “With all due respect, this is suicide. Send at least one of us with her.”
Maeve’s expression hardened, her voice cutting like a blade. “Did I ask for your opinion, Fenrys?”
He clenched his jaw, leaning back in his chair but shooting y/n a glance filled with unspoken worry. Gavriel tried next, his tone more diplomatic. “She is capable, yes, but even the most skilled warriors can be overwhelmed. Perhaps a small team would ensure success.”
Maeve’s gaze snapped to him, her smile razor-sharp. “Are you questioning my decision, lion?”
“No, my queen,” Gavriel said softly, bowing his head.
Maeve turned back to y/n, her tone almost sweet again. “I trust you will not fail me.”
“I won’t,” y/n said evenly, ignoring the tension radiating from every male in the room.
“Good,” Maeve said, stepping closer, her presence suffocating. “You leave at dawn.”
Without another word, Maeve swept out of the room, her dark gown trailing behind her like the shadow of death itself. And Lorcan behind her.
As the door closed, the room erupted.
But even through all the worries, all the scoldings, all the words said by the three males, her brothers, y/n's mind was only filled with the sense of betrayal.
He didn't even protest. Didn't even stand against Maeve. Didn't even offer to join y/n. His mate.
This has to be some cruel joke fate is playing on her.
----------
Y/n was alone, methodically packing her gear. Her hands worked quickly, though her mind was a maelstrom. She refused to dwell on the danger of the mission, on the implications of Maeve sending her alone. This was just another test, another way to prove she could survive whatever hell was thrown her way.
A knock sounded at her door. She didn’t bother turning, knowing who it was. “What do you want, Lorcan?”
The door opened without her invitation, and he stepped inside, shutting it firmly behind him. He didn’t speak at first, his dark eyes scanning her as if trying to decipher her thoughts. Finally, he said, “You shouldn’t go.”
She didn’t stop packing. “Not your decision to make.”
“It’s reckless,” he snapped, his voice low and sharp. “Maeve’s playing games, and you’re letting her.”
Y/n spun to face him, her eyes blazing. “Letting her? Did you not hear me back there? She gave me an order, Lorcan. What would you have me do, defy her?”
His silence was damning.
“Exactly,” she said bitterly, turning back to her pack. “You’d rather I die proving myself than risk questioning her.”
“That’s not fair,” he said, his voice softening, but she rounded on him.
“Fair?” she hissed, her voice shaking with anger. “What part of this is fair, Lorcan? The bond? This gods-damned oath? Maeve holding our lives in her hands? I don’t see you fighting for anything better.”
“I’m not the one running into death for her approval,” he shot back, his tone colder now, defensive.
“No,” she said quietly, the words cutting deeper because they were true. “You’re just the one standing by while she destroys us.”
He flinched as if struck, but she didn’t stop. “You chose her again, Lorcan. You always choose her.”
His jaw clenched, his hands curling into fists. “She is my queen.”
“And I’m your mate!” she yelled, the words tumbling out before she could stop them, raw and exposed. “Or does that mean nothing to you?”
For a moment, he didn’t speak. His dark eyes burned with emotion, but when he finally spoke, his voice was icy. “It doesn’t change anything. And we are not mates."
She swallowed hard, the weight of his words settling over her like a physical blow. “You really are a coward, Lorcan.”
Before he could respond, she shoved past him, her pack slung over her shoulder, and walked out the door. She didn’t look back, even when she thought she heard him whisper her name.
When she reached the stables, she mounted her horse and rode into the night, the frigid wind biting at her skin. But the cold was nothing compared to the ache in her chest, the one that reminded her she was truly, irrevocably alone.
The northern cliffs were as treacherous as y/n had anticipated. The jagged terrain, biting winds, and freezing temperatures made every step a trial. Her days were spent navigating narrow paths carved into the mountainside, her sharp eyes scanning for signs of movement. At night, she set up meager camps, always alert for threats, her weapons and magic ready for use. Sleep came in fleeting moments, her instincts honed to the dangers lurking in the shadows.
It had been five days since she left the fortress. Five days of cold, isolation, and silence. She told herself that she didn’t mind the solitude—it was better than the suffocating weight of Lorcan’s words or the betrayal she’d felt when Maeve’s command echoed through the room.
Still, the mission felt… off. She’d found no sign of the rebel camp Maeve had described. The cliffside paths, though rugged, showed no indication of regular travel, and the forests below were eerily still. It was as if the cliffs themselves were abandoned, yet Maeve had insisted that rebels were causing disruption in the area.
“She sent me here for a reason,” y/n thought bitterly, though she wasn’t sure if it was to succeed or fail.
On the sixth day, y/n stumbled upon a narrow gorge that seemed to fit the description of a potential rebel hideout. The entrance was obscured by thick overgrowth, and the cliffs loomed high above, casting long shadows over the path. She hesitated, her instincts prickling. This was the first sign of anything remotely suspicious since she’d arrived.
Cautiously, she advanced, her sword unsheathed as her senses sharpened instinctively. The air was heavy, thick with the scent of damp earth and something metallic. Blood.
She moved swiftly, keeping to the edges of the path. It led to a clearing—a small encampment, or what was left of one. The ground was littered with debris, tents torn apart, supplies scattered as if a storm had swept through. But it wasn’t a storm. The claw marks gouged into the rock told her that something—or someone—had done this.
Kneeling, she examined a broken weapon—a sword, its blade snapped in half. Blood stained the hilt, fresh enough that it hadn’t dried entirely. Her pulse quickened. She was being watched.
The sound of a snapping twig behind her made her whirl, sword raised, ready to strike—but nothing was there.
Yet, she couldn’t shake the feeling of eyes boring into her from the shadows. She forced herself to stay calm, to think. If this was a rebel camp, they wouldn’t leave it undefended. If they were gone, where had they gone? And why did the destruction look staged?
Her heart sank as realization dawned. This wasn’t a rebel camp. This was a trap.
The first arrow whistled past her ear, embedding itself into the rock behind her. She ducked instinctively, rolling into a crouch as more arrows followed, peppering the ground where she’d stood. Her claws gleamed in the dim light as she shot forward, seeking cover behind a crumbled tent.
Voices echoed through the gorge—low, guttural commands that sent chills down her spine. She couldn’t see them yet, but they were closing in.
Y/n moved quickly, her breaths steady despite the adrenaline coursing through her veins. She darted from cover to cover, her sword slicing through any obstacle in her way. The first attacker emerged—a tall man clad in dark leathers, his face obscured by a hood. He lunged at her with a blade, but she sidestepped, her dark magic aimed right at his chest. He fell with a gurgled cry.
Another came from the right, and she barely dodged the strike aimed at her side. She spun, driving her small but sharp knife into his arm and kicking him backward. But for every one she took down, two more appeared.
Soon, she was surrounded.
Y/n fought like the rebel she was, every movement precise and lethal. She used the terrain to her advantage, leaping onto rocks and darting through narrow paths.
But there were too many.
An arrow grazed her leg, the sharp pain momentarily throwing her off balance. A sword nicked her arm, blood staining her sleeve. Her breaths came heavier now, her strength waning.
One of the attackers—a burly man with a scar down his face—stepped forward, a cruel grin spreading across his features. “The Queen sends her regards,” he sneered, raising his blade.
Y/n’s heart sank. Maeve had sent her here to die.
The realization stole the last of her resolve. She faltered, just for a second, but it was enough.
The scarred man’s fist connected with her stomach, and she doubled over, the air knocked from her lungs. Before she could recover, another blow landed against her temple, sending her sprawling to the ground.
Her vision blurred, and the world tilted as she tried to push herself up. Hands grabbed her, wrenching her arms behind her back. She struggled, but she was too weak, too drained.
A final strike—a boot slamming into her ribs—left her gasping for air. The edges of her vision darkened, her body refusing to obey her commands.
As she was dragged to her knees, she heard the scarred man chuckle. “Tie her up. The Queen wants her alive—at least for now.”
Y/n’s head lolled to the side, her strength gone. The world around her faded into darkness, the sounds of her captors’ laughter echoing in her ears.
Her last thought before unconsciousness claimed her was bitter and raw.
She sent me here to die, and I have no one left to fight for.
---------
The first week of her absence, Lorcan told himself he was being irrational. She was skilled, ruthless even, and capable of handling herself. Maeve had sent her on this mission for a reason, and despite his misgivings, he trusted y/n to see it through. He buried his worry beneath grueling training sessions and the cold edge of duty, convincing himself that she would return victorious, her sharp wit ready to cut him down the moment he dared to question her ability.
By the second week, unease began to fester. There had been no word from her—no missives sent, no whispers of success or failure. Maeve brushed off his inquiries with a dismissive wave, her cold smile tightening when he pressed. “She’s completing her task, Lorcan. You wouldn’t dare doubt her, would you?”
The third week unraveled him. He had spent every waking moment pacing the grounds, his chest constricting with an unbearable weight. Nightmares plagued him when he did manage to sleep, visions of her broken body haunting his mind. He snapped at everyone—Gavriel, Fenrys, even Rowan—driving wedges into bonds already frayed by his aloofness.
Now, a full month had passed, and there was no room left for denial.
“She’s dead,” Fenrys growled, pacing the chamber like a caged wolf. “Or worse.” His golden eyes were wild, his usually jovial demeanor replaced with simmering fury. “We all know Maeve doesn’t send anyone on a mission like this without an ulterior motive.”
Gavriel sat at the table, his head bowed, his fists clenched. “We don’t know that,” he muttered, though his tone betrayed the hope he was struggling to hold onto.
Rowan leaned against the far wall, his sharp features carved with tension. “Have you noticed Maeve hasn’t mentioned her once since she left? Not a word about the mission or her progress. That’s deliberate.”
Lorcan stood apart from them, his back to the room, staring out the window at the moonlit forest. His jaw was clenched so tightly it ached, and his nails had bitten into his palms, drawing blood.
“She’s alive,” he said at last, his voice low and trembling with suppressed rage.
Fenrys stopped pacing, glaring at him. “You don’t know that. You have no idea what she’s endured out there—alone—while you stood by and let her go.”
The accusation struck like a blade, and Lorcan whirled around, his black eyes blazing. “You think I don’t know that?” he snarled. “You think I don’t feel it every second of every gods-damned day?”
The room fell silent, the air heavy with tension.
“What are you saying?” Gavriel asked, his voice cautious.
Lorcan’s hands trembled as he raked them through his hair, his composure shattering. “She’s my mate,” he admitted, the words spilling out like poison. “She’s my mate, and I let her go. I chose Maeve over her because I was too much of a coward to—” His voice broke, and he turned away, his shoulders heaving.
The silence that followed was deafening.
“You’re telling us this now?” Rowan’s voice was cold, laced with anger. “After she’s been missing for a month?”
“I thought she’d come back,” Lorcan said hoarsely. “I thought she’d be fine. She’s strong. She’s—” His voice cracked, and he slammed a fist against the wall. “I failed her. I failed her because I didn’t want to admit what she meant to me.”
Fenrys sneered, his rage barely contained. “And now she’s out there, suffering gods know what, because of you.”
Despite their anger, the Cadre couldn’t abandon her. She was one of their own—or at least, she had been before Maeve’s manipulations twisted their loyalties.
Rowan took charge, his strategic mind cutting through the chaos. “We’ll have to do this without Maeve finding out. If she even suspects we’re undermining her, she’ll punish us all.”
“And y/n,” Gavriel added grimly.
Lorcan barely heard them, his mind consumed with images of her—alone, wounded, dying. He couldn’t let himself think she might already be dead. If she was gone, the bond would have snapped, wouldn’t it? But it hadn’t. It was still there, faint but unbroken, like a fragile thread connecting him to her.
“We’ll start at the cliffs,” Rowan continued. “That’s where she was sent. If Maeve wanted her gone, she wouldn’t make it easy to find her body—or what’s left of it.”
Fenrys shot Lorcan a glare. “You’d better hope she’s alive, or I’ll make you wish you’d died with her.”
The journey to the cliffs was brutal, the terrain unforgiving. They traveled under the cover of night, avoiding Maeve’s spies and using every ounce of their combined skill to remain undetected.
They did not rest. Not even once. And even if they did, Lorcan knew that he would leave his brothers behind to find her. He would not rest until he found her. Hopefully, alive because if not....
Lorcan did not want to think about that and the hell he would raise if that were the case.
When they reached the cliffs, the sight that greeted them confirmed their worst fears. Blood stained the ground, long since dried, and the remnants of a camp lay scattered, eerily quiet.
“She was here,” Gavriel said, his voice tight with anguish.
Lorcan knelt, his fingers brushing the bloodied earth. It felt wrong—cold and empty, as if the life had been drained from the place. His chest tightened, and the bond tugged at him, faint but insistent.
“She’s close,” he whispered, his voice trembling. “She’s still alive.”
The Cadre exchanged wary glances, but they followed him deeper into the gorge, their weapons drawn.
They found her at dawn.
She was chained to a rock in a dark cavern, her body battered and broken. Her clothes were torn, her skin marred with bruises and cuts, and her breathing was shallow. Her once-bright eyes were closed, her face pale and gaunt.
Lorcan froze, his heart shattering at the sight.
“She’s alive,” Fenrys said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Lorcan didn’t wait. He rushed to her side, his hands trembling as he broke the chains binding her. “y/n,” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. “Please, wildling, wake up.”
Her eyelids fluttered, and for a moment, her gaze met his. There was no recognition in her eyes, only pain and exhaustion.
“I’m here,” he said, his voice breaking. “I’ve got you. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
As he cradled her broken body in his arms, the weight of his guilt crashed down on him. He had failed her in every way possible, but he wouldn’t fail her again.
“Let’s get her out of here,” Rowan said, his voice tight. “Before Maeve realizes what we’ve done.”
Lorcan nodded, his jaw set with determination. He would burn the world for her, tear it apart piece by piece if he had to.
And when Maeve found out, he would be ready.
Lorcan cradled y/n against his chest as they made their way out of the cavern, her body limp and fragile in his arms. Her shallow breathing was the only reassurance he had that she was still alive. His every instinct screamed at him to run, to put as much distance as possible between them and this gods-forsaken place, but he knew better. They weren’t safe yet.
The bond tugged at him, a faint but insistent reminder of her fragility. It was his lifeline now, urging him forward through the oppressive darkness of the cliffs.
Rowan took point, his sharp gaze scanning the shadows ahead. Gavriel brought up the rear, his sword drawn and his senses on high alert. Fenrys prowled beside Lorcan, his golden eyes flashing with barely-contained fury.
“She’s too quiet,” Fenrys muttered, his voice low and tense. “We need to move faster.”
“She’s breathing,” Lorcan snapped, though his voice wavered. “That’s all that matters right now.”
The moment they stepped out of the cavern into the pale light of dawn, the attack came.
A hail of arrows rained down from the cliffs above, forcing them to scatter. Lorcan twisted his body, shielding y/n with his own as he dove behind a jagged boulder.
“Move!” Rowan barked, his wind magic deflecting the arrows with a gust that sent them clattering harmlessly to the ground.
The enemy poured down the rocky slopes—Maeve’s minions, cloaked in shadow and armed to the teeth. Their feral grins gleamed in the dim light, their eyes alight with cruel intent.
“They know we have her!” Fenrys shouted, drawing his twin blades.
Gavriel let out a low growl, his lion-like strength cutting through the first wave of attackers. “We’ll have to fight our way out!”
Lorcan’s grip on y/n tightened as he pressed his back against the boulder, his mind racing. He couldn’t fight—not with her in his arms—but he also couldn’t let her go.
Rowan appeared at his side, his ice-blue eyes blazing. “Can you hold them off while I take her?”
“No,” Lorcan snapped. The thought of letting her out of his grasp was unbearable. “You clear the path. I’ll carry her.”
Rowan hesitated for a fraction of a second before nodding. “Stay close.”
Chaos erupted as the cadre launched themselves into the fray. Rowan’s wind and ice magic tore through the ranks of their attackers, sending bodies flying into the jagged rocks. Fenrys moved like a shadow, his blades flashing as he cut down anyone who got too close. Gavriel fought with brutal precision, his strikes swift and lethal.
But their enemies kept coming, waves of them spilling out of the cliffs like a swarm.
Lorcan’s every step was a battle. He ducked and weaved through the melee, his muscles burning from the effort of carrying y/n’s dead weight while avoiding strikes. His sword remained sheathed—his focus was entirely on her.
“Lorcan, behind you!” Fenrys shouted.
Lorcan twisted just in time to see a dagger aimed at his back. He snarled, releasing a pulse of his power that sent the attacker sprawling. The effort cost him, though—his legs trembled as he stumbled forward, the weight of y/n and his exhaustion dragging him down.
A group of Maeve’s soldiers broke through Rowan’s defenses, their eyes locked on Lorcan and y/n.
“Over my dead body,” Lorcan growled, shifting her weight slightly as he braced himself for the charge.
But before they could reach him, a silver blur streaked past—Fenrys. He leapt into the fray, his movements a deadly dance as he tore through the soldiers with savage efficiency.
“You’re slowing us down,” Fenrys barked as he dispatched the last of them.
“Shut up and fight,” Lorcan snarled back.
Rowan’s sharp whistle cut through the chaos. “Now! Move!”
The cadre regrouped, their enemies momentarily scattered. Rowan’s magic formed a protective barrier of ice and wind, giving them a few precious seconds to retreat.
“We’re not going to hold them off forever,” Gavriel warned as they sprinted toward the treeline.
“We just need to make it far enough to lose them,” Rowan said, though his tone was grim.
Lorcan’s chest burned with every breath, but he didn’t stop. Y/n’s head lolled against his shoulder, her face pale and bloodied. Hold on, he willed her silently. Just hold on.
As they reached the forest, Rowan dropped the barrier, and the group plunged into the shadows of the trees. The dense undergrowth slowed their pursuers, giving the cadre a chance to put some distance between them.
“We need to split up,” Rowan said. “Fenrys, take Gavriel and lead them away. Lorcan and I will take y/n and head for the rendezvous point.”
Fenrys opened his mouth to argue, but a single look from Rowan silenced him.
“Go,” Rowan ordered.
With a growl, Fenrys and Gavriel peeled off, drawing the enemy’s attention.
The silence that followed was deafening. Only the sound of Lorcan’s ragged breathing and the faint rustle of leaves broke the stillness as he and Rowan made their way deeper into the forest.
When they finally stopped, Lorcan sank to his knees, cradling y/n as though she might disappear if he let go.
“She’s alive,” Rowan said, though his voice was heavy with doubt. “But barely.”
Lorcan couldn’t respond. His hands trembled as he brushed a strand of blood-matted hair from her face. Guilt and rage warred within him, threatening to consume him whole.
“We’ll get her back,” Rowan said, his voice firm. “But you need to keep it together.”
Lorcan’s jaw tightened as he looked up at Rowan. “If she dies…” His voice broke, and he couldn’t finish the sentence.
“She won’t,” Rowan said, his eyes fierce. “Not if we have anything to say about it.”
Lorcan nodded, swallowing hard as he forced himself to his feet. He wouldn’t let her die. Not like this. Not when he had failed her so utterly.
And Maeve… Maeve would pay for this.
------
The first thing Y/N registered was the scent of wood smoke and herbs, mingling with the faint, earthy aroma of rain-soaked soil. The air was warm, almost stifling, and it felt heavier than it should have. Her body ached with a dull, persistent throb, as though she had been wrung out and left to dry.
She blinked against the dim light filtering through a small, cracked window, her vision swimming before settling on the modest, cramped interior of a hut. The walls were made of rough-hewn logs, the roof thatched, and a single table sat in the corner, cluttered with vials and bandages.
Where am I?
The thought was fleeting, overridden by a sudden awareness of weight—solid, grounding, and entirely foreign—pressing against her. She shifted slightly, hissing at the pull of her tender muscles, and turned her head to look down.
Her breath caught.
Lorcan.
His head was resting on her stomach, his dark hair falling in unruly strands over his face. His massive frame was hunched over, as though even in sleep, he couldn’t quite relax. One arm was draped over her waist, the other gripping the edge of the makeshift bed she lay on. His hold was tight, almost desperate, as if he feared she would vanish if he let go.
For a moment—a fleeting, fragile moment—something in her chest softened. He looked so unlike himself, so vulnerable and human, and it was a stark contrast to the cold, stoic warrior she knew.
But then it all came rushing back.
The mission. The ambush. The betrayal. His cruel words.
Her face hardened, and a sharp burst of anger surged through her. How dare he?
Without thinking, she raised her hand and swatted the back of his head.
Lorcan jolted awake instantly, his head snapping up as his body went rigid, his instincts kicking in. His hand reached for a weapon that wasn’t there, his eyes wild and dark, scanning for danger.
Then his gaze landed on her, and he froze.
“Y/N?” His voice was a hoarse whisper, raw with disbelief.
Her eyes, dull and tired, met his. “Surprised to see me alive?” she asked, her tone cutting but drained of its usual bite.
Relief flooded his features, followed quickly by a maelstrom of emotions she couldn’t decipher—shock, guilt, anger at himself, and something she wasn’t ready to name.
“You’re awake,” he murmured, as though saying it aloud would make it real.
“No thanks to you,” she muttered, shifting uncomfortably as she tried to sit up.
“Don’t,” he said quickly, his hands moving to steady her. “You’re not ready—”
“I’m fine,” she snapped, shrugging him off.
She wasn’t fine. Her body screamed in protest, and her head swam, but she forced herself upright, ignoring the way his hands hovered near her, ready to catch her if she faltered.
“Where are we?” she asked, her voice clipped.
Lorcan cleared his throat, straightening as he rubbed the back of his neck. “A healer’s hut. A friend of Fenrys’—a trusted one. It’s safe here, for now.”
“For now,” she repeated bitterly. Her gaze swept the room, noting its sparse furnishings and the faint smell of damp wood.
“You’ve been unconscious for two weeks,” Lorcan continued cautiously, as if afraid of her reaction. “We’ve been... waiting for you to wake up.”
“Two weeks,” she echoed, her tone flat. “And where are the others?”
“Rowan and Gavriel went back to ensure Maeve hasn’t caught on to our escape, or atleast somehow keep the situation stable.” he explained. “Fenrys stayed with us.”
“Of course, Fenrys did.” She exhaled sharply, leaning back against the headboard.
Lorcan flinched at her tone but didn’t argue. “I—”
“You what?” she interrupted, her eyes narrowing. “What could you possibly have to say, Lorcan?”
His jaw tightened, and for a moment, she thought he might retreat behind his usual walls. But then he surprised her.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice low and rough. “For everything.”
She didn’t respond immediately. She didn’t have the energy to yell or argue, not anymore. She just looked at him, her expression unreadable.
“You said Maeve was your queen,” she said quietly, her voice devoid of emotion. “You said you’d always choose her over me. So why are you here, Lorcan?”
He flinched as if she’d struck him. “I was wrong,” he said, his voice breaking. “I was so gods-damned wrong. And I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness—hells, I don’t even deserve to be here. But I—” He hesitated, his hands curling into fists. “I couldn’t lose you. Not like that.”
Her laugh was hollow, devoid of humor. “Congratulations, Lorcan. You didn’t lose me. But what’s left of me isn’t much, so I hope you’re satisfied.”
Her words hit him like a blow, and the guilt in his eyes deepened. “Don’t say that,” he whispered.
“Why not?” she asked, her voice rising slightly. “It’s true. I’m tired, Lorcan. I’m tired of fighting, tired of trying, tired of—” She broke off, her hands trembling as she clenched the blanket.
Lorcan dropped to his knees beside the bed, his hands hovering near hers but not quite touching. “I know I hurt you,” he said, his voice trembling. “I know I failed you. And I’ll never forgive myself for that. But please, y/n... please don’t give up. Not now. Not when you’re here, alive.”
She looked away, her jaw tight, her expression unreadable.
“I’ll fix this,” he said desperately. “I don’t know how, but I’ll fix it. I’ll keep you safe. I swear it on my life.”
“Words,” she muttered, her tone laced with exhaustion. “They’re just words, Lorcan.”
He bowed his head, his shoulders sagging under the weight of her dismissal. But he didn’t leave. He stayed there, on his knees, as though the very act of being near her was penance.
And for a long moment, neither of them spoke. The silence was heavy, oppressive, and filled with everything they couldn’t bring themselves to say.
Eventually, she lay back down, turning her face away from him. “I wish to be alone.”
He nodded, his throat working as he forced himself to his feet. “I’ll be right here,” he said softly, retreating to his chair.
She didn’t respond, and as her breathing evened out, Lorcan watched her, his heart breaking anew. He had been a fool, and now the woman who held his soul was a shadow of herself. Someone who just went through so much trauma while he sat aside and watched it happen.
His y/n was gone, the female in front of him was an empty shell.
And it was all his fault.

Hii I love your writing <333
can i request a fenrys x oc mate . Maybe where they don’t get along - either cause of aelin or something else and the oc is struggling to accept the bond due to trauma in her past
Thank you :))
Thank you for reading, darling. 🤍
warning: past trauma from forced ownership
Give it time
“Well what do you want me to fucking do?”, Fenrys growled fed up with the argument that had sparked over nothing once again. That had been happening awfully a lot now that the bind had snapped for you too. “Start by getting the fuck away from me”, you reached for the table knife before pointing it at him. “Kids, come on now”, Gavriel finally cut in, standing up from his seat to stand between you both. “Young love, how entertaining”, Lorcan chuckled crossing one foot over the other. “I’ll cut you next”, “Leave her the fuck alone”, you and Fenrys echoed in unison before turning your glares upon each other once more.
“Yn, give me the knife, mhm”, Gavriel mused stepping closer. “Tell him to stop sleeping outside my door”, you whined. “I am bonded to you, I can’t help it”, Fenrys growled, pulling at his hair. “I don’t want to be linked with you, I don’t want to be linked with anyone”, your eyes met Gavriel, who had been a fatherly figure to you for years now. “Sweetheart, hand the knife over and we will talk about this, find a way to make you more comfortable”, he softly reached out, seizing your wrist.
“I just got it back”, you whispered, “Please”, you whined, grabbing onto his arm. “I can’t alter fate, sweet girl”, Gavriel spoke softly, “Finding a mate is the biggest joy. Most don’t experience it ever”. “I don’t want to belong to anyone”, you growled through gritted teeth. “You’re making it sound like I’m about to chain you to myself”, Fenrys gritted his teeth. Your face fell. Growing pale right in front of his eyes. “Fenrys”, Gavriel snapped back.
“Rowan why don’t you take Y/n on a walk, get some fresh air”, Gavriel threw a glance that spoke volumes to his friend. “I didn’t…”, Fenrys started but Gavriel simply lifted his hand to silence him. “I’ll tag along”, Lorcan leaned forward, “Remember the waterfall I told you about?”, stepping forward he pinched your cheek, “Why don’t we check it out?”.
Fenrys watched his cadre brothers, letting you out the door. “You need to have more patience with her, Fenrys”, Gavriel pinched the bridge of his nose. “She snapped at me. I’m trying to have…”, “She was a slave for a long time. Chained to her keeper. Thrown around like a rag-doll”, Gavriel cut in. Fenrys felt his hands turning into fists. Anger bubbled inside him. “I took care of them”, Gavriel clapped his shoulder, “All I’m asking is that you give her breathing space”, “I don’t mean harm to her”, Fenrys argued. “I know that boyo, she will learn that too, you just got to give her the lead here”.

Note
for the 3k bingo (congrats btw!!!) i have to request boyfriend Fenrys who is obsessed 🤭
Tumblr media
Note: Our first headcanon! YAY! I’m so excited to celebrate with you guys. I was so happy to see you requested this, I love your fics. And thank you! ♥️
Don’t forget: you can still send in request for bingo! They will posted this weekend and next weekend (depending on the amount of requests)
Warnings: Fenrys being clingy, a little angst
You are this males whole world
Everything revolves around you. His plans, how long he goes away for missions, all of it
When Fenrys first saw you it was love at first sight
He knew he was done for when the whole room faded for him and he could only see you
Fenrys knows everything about you (not in a creepy way, in the I love you and want to take care of everything for you for the rest of our lives)
You’re his princess and you MUST be treated as such
He always brings you your favorite flowers and chocolates
Whenever Fenrys goes away he always brings you home a gift. If he saw something that reminded him of you Fenrys was absolutely getting it for you
Fenrys knows when you’re upset or you’ve had a bad day. You try your best to hide it because something’s you just don’t want to deal with it. Fenrys knows it’s not always good to hold things in so he’s there for you to lean on
When you do just let it go he always asks “are you sure baby? Because I’m here if you wanna talk about it?” You smile at him and cup his cheeks. “Fen, I’m ok. I promise.” You lean up and press a kiss on his lips
Every time you kiss Fenrys or even touch him lovingly his heart starts beating fast. Practically leaps from his chest
He hates seeing you cry. It breaks his heart every time you shed a tear, he just wants to fix whatever is wrong so you’re never sad again
The thought of you even giving him attention let alone being with him sends Fenrys to his knees. This boy worships the ground you walk on (if that wasn’t clear)
he loves cuddling with you
You have convinced him once or twice to cuddle in his wolf form
He’s just so fluffy and Fenrys can never deny you
It’s his favorite activity and the only way he can sleep at night is
You have to be in his arms, laying on his chest at night for him to sleep
When he’s away from you Fenrys gets the worst sleep
When he gets grumpy on missions Lorcan makes fun of him
You also tease Fenrys when he comes home grumpy but he lets it slide because your teasing makes him smile
He has to hold your hand when you walk anywhere or is always touching you in some way
Fenrys will always protect you and it’s to a point that he acts like your bodyguard when you guys go out
Fenrys likes being able to hold you in general, especially when he’s having a hard day
His hard days are about missing Connall and Gavriel. Those days are the hardest. You can’t imagine losing your brother the way he did and then to lose your father figure right after. Just devastating
You know it’s bad when Fenrys has that far away look in his eyes. Like he’s almost on the verge of tears. You kiss his forehead and tell him it’s ok and that you’re here for him. After a few moments of holding him, Fenrys breaks down in your arms. You stay with him for as long as he needs, whispering, “It’s ok, baby. They’re still with you and they love you so much.”
Once he’s collected himself, Fenrys squeezes you to his chest, making sure you’re still here with him. You wrap yourself around him. The two of you spend the whole day clinging to each other and talking
You are always on his mind. Fenrys is always wondering what you’re up to when you’re away from each other
He will do anything for you. Would literally kill for you
All you have to do is say “Please baby,” with the cutest little pout Fenrys has ever seen and bat your lashes at him and Fenrys says yes

day 10 - sweet tooth [f.moonbeam]
fenrys moonbeam x fem!reader (i do not support sjm!!)
content warnings; fluff, stealing and eating pastries, just the start of a kiss, ever so slightly suggestive if you squint
notes; i’m a bit late tday oops
kinktober/flufftober masterlist
—————
it was as warm a day as you could hope for during autumn in terrasen, sun shining through the huge windows of the palace you walked through. you were on your way back to your room from a meeting with aelin and the others, when the scent of sweet pastries caught your attention. you followed the pleasant aroma, hoping to find what was causing the smell.
rounding a corner, you realised it was coming from the room in front of you, door open and revealing the treats on a table at the rooms centre. you couldn’t help but step inside, unable to resist at least taking a closer look.
the pastries were still warm, icing sugar sifted over the top, covering the toppings and preserves. there were so many, that you were sure that whoever these belonged to, could never possible figure out that one was missing.
you picked up a raspberry topped one, fruit preserve dolloped in a smooth circle atop the delicacy. you examined it briefly, wanting to admire it a little before you destroyed it with your teeth.
you bite into it, sweet and tangy flavours melting onto your tongue as you close your eyes in bliss. the raspberry was definitely the best choice, crispy pastry flaking as the pinky-red jam coated your tongue. this was by far one of the best things you’d ever eaten, and you didn’t even feel slightly guilty that it didn’t belong to you.
however, what you had failed to realise, was that fenrys had followed you after the meeting, wanting to spend time with you and let you rant on about whatever book had been currently occupying your time.
“this doesn’t look like your room, darling,”
you jump, hand flying to your chest as you attempt to flounder for an excuse, stuttering out half sentences before giving up with a frustrated huff, shoulders deflating.
“oops?”
he barked out a laugh, stalking over to you with a hand outstretched, “give me one then, so that we’ll both be in trouble,” he said with a wink.
you hand him another raspberry one, picking out the tastiest looking one with extra preserve on.
you liked fenrys a lot, and you thought that maybe he liked you too, but after everything with maeve, you wanted to let him make the first move, content with letting things blossom on their own.
you hadn’t been sure if he liked you back at first, worrying that your girlish crush on him was blinding your ability to determine his emotions. but, after seeing how he acted around other people, especially girls, you realised that he wasn’t just an affectionate person that loved long eye contact.
he groaned when he took his first bite, sending butterflies fluttering around your tummy. even the simplest things could set you off with him, enamoured by his every move.
you both continued to eat, eyes occasionally meeting in the thick silence as you focused on your crime. you stopped briefly when he took a step closer, opening his mouth as if to say something.
“oi, what the hell do you think you’re doing with my cakes!”
aedion’s voice startled you out of trance, causing you to whip around in alarm, freezing and dropping your half eaten pastry.
fenrys didn’t hesitate to take your now empty hand, pulling you to run out the room. you lunged to grab a couple more of the treats for the two of you, shrieking when aedion made to grab at you.
the two of you ran down the hallway, laughing loudly with aedion shouting profanities as he chased you.
flying round a corner, you yelped when fenrys pulled you into a hidden alcove, shadowed enough that it could cover the pair of you.
he pushed you against the wall, bodies close to keep yourselves as out of sight as possible. your chests heaved as you giggled, snorting lightly and trying to keep quiet.
fenrys shushed you, covering your mouth with his huge hand, smothering any sounds coming from you. he grinned down at you, pressing closer when aedion’s footsteps neared, before holding his breath as the man finally passed the alcove, cursing profanities under his breath.
only when the two of you began to calm down, adrenaline rushing through you, did you realise just how close your faces were. he dropped his hand from your mouth, and you could feel his breath hitting your face, eyes locked on yours.
your breath hitched as he leaned down slightly, the gap between you now so small that he would barely be able to fit his hand between you. assessing your facial expressions, he watched as your pupils dilated, hearing your heart pounding in your chest as your head tilted further back. his gaze shifted lower, watching as your tongue flicked over your soft lips, wetting them lightly.
fenrys cursed, groaning before he finally closed the gap, finally pressing his lips to yours.

Healing
Fenrys x reader
note: Basically. Fenrys deserves happiness and I thought of this and kept putting it off because I thought I should add like a whole plot before and after this but um i've decided not to partly because I'm lazy and because ik i won't post it otherwise and I like the scene how it is. Feel free to send in requests. Anyways enjoyy <33 (Reader was one of Maeves healers she kept imrprisoned)
Tumblr media
The room was still. Still, save for the soft breeze winding in from the balcony, stirring the edge of the velvet curtains. Morning light spilled across the marble floor of the meeting chamber, warm and golden, as if trying to chase the shadows from the corners.
It didn’t quite reach us.
We stood outside on the connected balcony, just beyond the arching glass doors, the city of Orynth stretching far below. Its rooftops glinted in the sunlight, life bustling through the streets, but up here—high above the noise—it was quiet. Peaceful, in a way neither of us had truly known in years.
Fenrys leaned his forearms on the railing, the wind playing with a few unruly strands of his golden hair. His gaze was distant, unreadable, fixed somewhere beyond the horizon.
I watched him for a long moment before I joined him, resting my elbows beside his. For a while, we said nothing. We didn’t need to.
“They’re late,” I murmured eventually.
He gave a noncommittal grunt, eyes still locked on the city below. “Aelin’s version of on time is always dramatic.”
I almost smiled, but it faded as my eyes drifted across his face—his perfect, too-handsome features marred only by the deep scar that cut from the edge of his eye down his cheek. Faintly pink still, though it had healed long ago.
A cruel mark.
He caught me staring, his jaw tightening just slightly. Not from embarrassment. No, Fenrys had long since passed the point of vanity. It was something else—something bitter and raw, just beneath the surface.
I hesitated, then spoke. “I could fix it.”
He blinked. “What?”
“The scar.” I reached out gently, barely brushing my fingers to his cheek, near the edge of it. “It’s a simple healing. It wouldn’t take much from me.”
For a heartbeat, he didn’t move.
Then he pulled back, just enough to break my touch.
“No.”
His voice wasn’t harsh. Not even cold. Just quiet. Firm.
I blinked at him. “Why not?”
He looked away again, toward the mountains this time. His knuckles whitened on the balcony railing.
“Because I deserve it.”
The words struck like a blade. I stared, stunned into silence.
He exhaled through his nose, the wind ruffling his hair as he spoke again. “She gave it to me. Before her last stand...it reminds me of-” His voice caught.
He didn’t say the rest. He didn’t have to. We both knew what had happened. What Maeve had him go through. What he had to endure.
“It reminds me of my failure” he continued. “How I wasn't able to save him”
I stepped closer, letting the silence hang between us a beat longer before I said gently, “You didn’t fail, Fenrys. She took everything from you, made it impossible for you to do anything but watch”
“I should’ve fought harder,” he murmured, voice frayed. “I should’ve done something. I was his gods damned brother and I...I let her twist me into something I wasn't.”
“You survived,” I whispered. “Your still fighting. You did what you could” I knew my words wouldn't fix his broken heart but I tried. Because I hated that defeated look in his eyes.
He turned to me then, finally. The pain in his eyes was so raw it made my throat tighten. Haunted. Aching.
“I understand why you keep it,” I said quietly. “But you’re more than what she did to you.”
His eyes flicked to my wrists, to the marks that even my healing hadn’t erased. Maybe I’d left them there on purpose too. Maybe we both needed our reminders.
“I know,” he said, almost too softly to hear. “But it helps. On the days when I forget. When I feel like I don’t deserve to be here at all.”
A breath left me. I nodded, not in agreement, but in understanding.
“You do,” I said. “Even if you can’t see it yet. You do.”
He held my gaze for a long time, something unspoken moving between us like a tide neither of us could stop. Then, at last, he gave a single, slow nod.
We turned back to the city together, the silence no longer heavy, just… quiet.
The door creaked behind us. Aelin’s voice floated through, exasperated and amused “You two lovebirds planning on coming in or should we push the meeting to next week?”
Fenrys smirked faintly but didn't comment on the term Aelin used. Before we turned, his fingers brushed against mine intentionally, his lips tilting up in the slightest of smiles.
A promise.
Together.
We would do this together.

Revelations at Court
Tumblr media
Fenrys x Reader
Note: It wasn't supposed to be so looong, but here we are :3
Warnings: Poison, suggestiveness, hint of past trauma.
Summary: 'Rowan and Lorcan shared females', was what Aelin had told Y/n, but what if they shared -even after the female had gone?
Words Count: 3,3k
. . . . . ╰──╮ ╭──╯ . . . . .
“I think Rowan and Lorcan did it.”
“Did it?”
“You know,” I say, smiling, “it.”
Fenrys laughs. “You think they fucked?” And when he says it like that, I falter a little. Laying on the warm edge of the castle wall, eyes closed against the hot feel of the sun on my face, my head in Fenrys’ lap; he stops his play with my hair. I open my eyes, finding his frowning down at me. “We would have known.”
I sit up, “You know they shared a female before?” My mind hadn’t given that a rest after I had found out from Aelin, even keeping me up at night wondering what else those century old bastards have been doing. What maybe even Fenrys have been doing. My body heats.
His eyebrow quirks up. “So I’ve heard. But I don’t know why that interests you so much, Dove?”
I huff.
“Enlighten me,” he grins, stroking a mischievous hair behind my ear. “Do you think a lot about what other males tend to do when aroused and no females are there? Or when females just don’t -scratch that ick?” he purrs. My cheeks redden, as they often do whenever Fenrys opens that dirty mouth. I did have a sense for experimenting.
“I think,” I try to keep my voice steady, “that perhaps they continued to share, after, the female was gone.” I couldn’t keep my thoughts from trying to make this make sense. They had a sense of familiarity that they didn’t share with the rest. I had thought it came from their age and being in the same cadre through the years. But perhaps it came from a whole other reason? Perhaps, because they knew each other inside and out, literally.
“We need to investigate that, you know,” Fenrys makes a move to stand up.
“Where are you going? We’re not needed until midday -I don’t want to miss a couple hours of free time.”
“We are going to find Aelin.” He drags me up and towards the archway and inside. “And you talk as if your job isn’t voluntarily,” he chuckles at me. I shrug, working in a kingdom with plenty of gold seemed to have its advantages. “I work best with breaks and vacation.” Walking along one of the many passageways placed throughout the castle, I take a deep breath.
Finding Aelin would mean telling her about where my mind seemed to lie lately. Which could end two ways; she would laugh in our faces, never letting us forget at one time we thought her mate was banging her late enemy, or she would be on board with the thought process and help us to expose the males. They were proud males, and I so desperately needed to embarrass them a little as they have gotten too comfortable here at court. They are slacking. And a big secret that the two big brutes who never would dare to show love, were softhearted lovey-doveys with each other? I knew I was overreacting, but gods it would feel nice to catch them unexpectedly. Lorcan had caught Fenrys and me one time in a meeting room, during a…heated encounter after we had been separated for two whole weeks. He hadn’t let us live that down.
A shoulder knock into me. “Where did you go?” he asks.
I don’t answer that, instead, “Do you know where she is?” She could be anywhere, anywhere from the throne room to the theatre down in the city. I knew she loved that theatre, having been the first new thing built. She could also be on her way to another kingdom entirely; no one really knew with that female.
He looks up at the sky, at where the sun lay. “The courtyard, she and Lysandra should still be lunching at this time.” He takes my hand, intertwining our fingers and I turn my head for a kiss. “We could still make time to scratch that ick, you know? I’m sure they will wait for us.”
My heart stumbles and I roll my eyes playfully. “Gross, I don’t have sexual encounters.” His laugh is rich and full, knowing that its often me who start things between us. I’m sure we have time.
The courtyard is full of greenery, a small fountain placed in the center. Trees and bushes line the farthest wall, shading the place from windows and curious spectators. On the left side of the fountain, under a cherry tree, sits Aelin and Elide.
Holding Fenrys’ hand, I smile, and they wave us over.
Elide, holding a tray of crackers and cheese, smile at us. “We thought you might have disappeared on us for a second, taking up Dorians offer to vacation while he works in Eyllwe, just to get some sun.”
“Ha,” Aelin said, stuffing another cheese laid cracker in her mouth, “the suns too strong, she’d burn before getting there.” She winked. I walk past her, ruffling her hair and stealing the plate with crackers, taking a bite I find a chair opposite Aelin. Fenrys keeps to standing behind me.
“I’m not the one who has to keep to the castle at all times during Spring,” I say the last bit imitating her voice, “because ‘I’ve suddenly developed an allergy to flowers.’”
She laughs and Fenrys coughs. “Oh right, yea we came here for a reason,” I say, taking the cheese.
“Figures.”
I look up at Fenrys, hoping he would take the hint. I make a cheese cracker. Sighing, “What do you know about Rowan and Lorcan’s relationship?” he looks around, as if hoping neither were here.
Aelin looks confused. “I know they’ve known each other centuries,” she stops, drinking her wine, “I know they were crime buddies, back in the day.”
“But what if they were more?” the question comes out of me without thinking and I get nervous. If she’s not on board, then this is where it ends, and I will never find out if the two warriors indulged in each other.
“Like lovers?” she sounds sceptic.
“You once said Rowan had told you of a time where they would even share females, together, do you think they might have done so too without others?” I look to Elide, knowing that I am talking about her mate too, and while Aelin and Rowan had a tight bond, it was different compared to Elide and Lorcan’s. Rowan would follow Aelin wherever, but he would also heed her command to stay and protect her kingdom should it ever come to that; Lorcan would not. Elide’s face was red as I say, “do you Elide?”
Her deer eyes crinkled and she smiled brightly, “Oh gods, how I wish that true,” she said, “it would be brilliant.”
I smile and Fenrys asks, “So, he has never given any indicator?”
“No, nothing I can remember right now,” she shook her head, and I turned back to Aelin who seemed to be staring off to another world.
“Aelin?”
She looks at me, “I have a plan.”
Shaking the vial in her hand, Aelin grins at me. “This is going to be fun.” I shake my head, kind of regretting the whole thing, feeling embarrassed.
“Will the potion reveal…other things as well?” Elide asks from her place on Aelin’s bed, Lysandra having taken to the gardens with Aedion.
We had retreated to Aelin’s bedchambers after hearing her plan, I must have gone through it a million times before Fenrys finally convinced me. It wasn’t that it was a bad plan, quite the opposite, it was brilliantly simple. We are going to wait until night falls for Rowan to retreat to bed with Aelin, and when he’s not looking; Aelin will put a few drops of her soothing medication she got prescribed after the war in his tea. The vial, which on the back states quite clearly ‘Unwanted side effects with careless use: Honesty’, would help loosen Rowan’s tongue. I think I am afraid it is unmoral.
“I honestly don’t know. Perhaps.” She gives the vial another shake before putting it in her dress pocket. “Now shoo, before Rowan comes,” waving us away.
Out the door I turn to Fenrys, seeing Elide and Lysandra walk through the nearest balcony door from the corner of my sight. It was getting heated inside the castle at this point.
“You worry.” I turn my gaze yet again to him. “Rowan will be fine; Aelin knows the male good enough to know his principles and not to cross his lines. They will be fine.”
I huff. “I know.” He takes my hand in his, kissing the top knuckles.
“Then why do you worry?”
“I don’t know,” I sigh, grabbing his hand and set my course to our chambers to wait for night. “I think I’m afraid I’ve crossed a line,” I confess. “What if they don’t want to be exposed? What if this was a pure, loving relationship -And I just crashed the nostalgia?”
Fenrys kisses my cheek, smiling lovingly down at me. “They put up a statue, quite expensive one too might I add, of you and me in a…compromising position up in the queen’s gardens for all to see, just last moon.”
Oh gods. I remember Fenrys’ face when we arrived at the Spring ball, the guests had clustered around the newest statue decorating the fine garden. I had never turned so fast around. “Yeah, I’m not so worried anymore.” We might have lost that battle, but the war is still ongoing.
One.  Two.   Three drops would do it. Putting the vial back in her pocket, Aelin turns to Rowan sitting at her desk. “I talked to Y/n today.”
“Along with Fenrys I take it?”
“Yes, they look quite well, might I add.”
Rowan huff, amused. “That boy follows her around like a pup, I haven’t seen them at training in weeks.”
She smiles, putting the tray on the desk, and taking the seat opposite Rowan as he takes his tea. She had taken the rest of the crackers to serve along with the tea to make it less…obvious. “I think they find other ways to keep in shape.” Rowan turns that piercing stare to meet hers.
“Perhaps we too need to keep in shape, we have been lacking,” his grin shows off his canines. The canines Aelin can feel like a phantom against her neck. They hadn’t been lacking by any means, but she would show him.
“Yes.” And Rowan smirks as he drinks, one, two, three, and the glass is empty.
A knock at the door startles her. “Coming,” she yells.
“We are expecting?”
“Yes. And I need to ask you something.” Another set of knocks, this one harder, from a bigger fist.
“Better be fast, or the people on the other side of the door might break in should they knock any harder,” he says, his voice high for the ones outside the door to hear. Quitting the knocking.
“Are you comfortable answering a couple of questions…honestly?”
Rowan furrows his brows. “When have I not answered honestly?”
“It’s not that, but do you mind?” Already on her way to the door, she turns to watch his answer. Holding her hand at the doorknob.
“No, I don’t.” Lifting his brows, “What have you gotten yourself into now?”
She opens the door in answer.
Fenrys’ hand was stopped in the air, about to knock yet again when the door opened, revealing a very proud Aelin and a confused Rowan at her desk.
We filed in one by one.
Aelin pulls another chair to sit beside Rowan’s but takes a seat across from him, I do the same, leaving Fenrys to sit on the bed to the left along with Elide, I smile at the male in front of me. “We are questioning you.” Which was a fine way to say it.
Rowan keeps his expression calm, “Am I aloud to ask about what?”
I share a look with Aelin who nods, “About your late affairs.”
“You want to ask about Lyria?” he looks to Aelin for answers, raising a brow.
“No,” she grins up at him, “We want to ask about Lorcan.” Rowan’s face consorts into confusion.
“What would Lorcan have to do with my affairs?”
“You’re not nearly as sneaky as you think.”
And just when Rowan opened his mouth to speak Elide interrupts; “he’s here.” They’ve always had a close bond, seemingly close enough to feel each other’s presence. I look to Fenrys who smiles at me, and I smile back.
My chair screech as I leave the table to open the door, revealing a sweaty Lorcan, whose eyes find Elide in less than a second. Striding past me towards Elide he says, “I was all the way across the city training the new recruits when I got your letter.” He lay a hand around her neck and pulls her into a kiss, “And you,” he turns to Aelin, pointing, “need to invest in better messengers.” She shrugs.
Sitting back down I point Lorcan to the chair beside Rowan. “Sit.”
“I am not yours to command.”
“Don’t be cross, do as you’re told.” He questions Elide with his gaze, who lets out a small laugh at my words and nods. He sits down.
“We’re to be questioned, hopefully without the usage of…other methods,” Rowan watches Aelin, who has helped herself to the crackers on the tray before them.
“Mmf,” came out of her as she chews, swallowing, “I haven’t fully healed yet since last time I came in contact with such horrid practices.” And the room fills with a tense sort of silence. Lorcan shifts in his seat. Rowan keeps his focus on Aelin, a question in his eyes. But Aelin glances at me, knowing we both share some past we cannot forget.
I glimpse the stars outside her window, shining brighter by the minute. I grin at Aelin, “Let’s start, shall we?”
The chamber is lit up by a singular lantern burning on her desk, casting the room in shadows. Fenrys has moved to seat himself beside me, keeping a hand on my thigh and moving his fingers in circular motions, making me flustered.
Rowan moves to put his forearms on the desk, setting his focus on me. My breathing quickens.
“Do you remember telling Aelin of your affairs?” I question. I keep going as he nods. “Specifically, affairs shared between you and Lorcan?”
“Yes.” Lorcan whirls his head to Rowan who looks a little surprised by his own answer. “You told her about that?” his brows drew together, and he looks to Elide.
“As if you haven’t also.” Rowan comebacks. And I hope he has, because I’m not sure I could live with myself if I caused some stride between anyone because of this. Fenrys, sensing my distress, drags his hands up my thigh, closer to that warm point between my legs. My breath hitches and he lets out a soft laugh, I catch Aelin giving us a small smirk.
“Let’s set some things straight,” Fenrys says, looking only at Rowan, “We know you fucked females together, is that right?”
“Yes,” Rowans voice was a stark contrast to the quiet in the chamber.
“Did the sexual intercourse continue after the departure of the female?”
“Yes.”
And the room goes eerie quiet. The answer to my months long revenge is laid before me.
“Rowan,” Lorcan seethe, looking between all of us, setting his eyes on Elide at last.
But Rowan watches Aelin, “you drugged me,” amusement lighting his eyes. He seemed unaware of the secret let out, proudness shone through his face.
“I wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t necessary.”
“And this you call necessary,” his brows lifted, “good to know.”
My chair screech as I stand, laying my palms on the table, eying Rowan and Lorcan. I grin at them. Fenrys follows my lead and I feel his presence behind me, keeping a hand on my lower back. “Everything said in this room will be used against you both as a means to win, and end, this months old war between us. I will proudly take your surrender at present time, should you wish to keep this a secret.”
Lorcan narrows his eyes at me, and I thought Rowan would be the one to surrender first, but as Lorcan shares a look with Elide, I change my mind. “Go ahead.”
“What?”
“Go. Right. Ahead.” His smile is sinister. I look to Elide, who I thought would be at least a little uncomfortable that Lorcan would keep something like this from her, but looking in her eyes right now all I can see is an apology.
“You knew,” I conclude. We wouldn’t have needed to go to such extents if she would have told me.
“I promised to never share with another soul,” her voice is soft, a smile lining her face, “I did try to hint it, albeit secretly.” She looks to Lorcan. “I wanted you to know, since you seemed so set on the idea.”
And my face redden as Aelin barks out a laugh. As everyone seems to laugh. I slide back into my seat, my back slumped as Fenrys lays his hands on my shoulders. Kissing the top of my head, “Now we know, Love. Think you can sleep at night?”
I sigh, “Yes, now bring me the wine.” I wave.
“Your wish is my command,” Aelin says, bringing me a generous glass filled to the brim, it doesn’t take long before I refill.
Rasing my glass I toast, “For Rowan and Lorcan.”
“For Rowan and Lorcan,” echoes through the chamber.
Fixing the wrap, I set the book down on the pillow in the middle of the bed, trying to not ruffle the careful packing. “Do you think they will appreciate it?”
Fenrys laughs, “yes, but if they don’t then know that I do, enough for a lifetime.”
It had been two weeks since the revelation and somewhat truce between us. I still didn’t feel like I had gotten quite the revenge I deserved. It had taken many midnight talks and discussions between me and Fenrys before we came to the conclusion wrapped in a silk dressing on the bed.
“They’ll be back soon,” Fenrys said. At the door I turn around to look at the result, my face brightening. We had already been to Lorcan and Elides bedchambers at the castle, lastly having to sneak into the Queen and consort’s. It had worked out just fine. We had concluded that we didn’t need to announce this to the world to win, but perhaps only to those who looked for it. What better way to ensure this never is forgotten than write it into history. We had done just that.
It had taken some letters and visits, finally I had cashed in a favor, resulting in the rewrite of one of the most popular historical books in Terrasen, who luckily was placed in the Royal library. The two book I had gotten were only two of the few that would be sent out to the other kingdoms. In a century, a small paragraph could be seen on page 874, part 2, detailing the relationship of the Queen of Terrasen’s two favored court members. Taking a last glance at the book, I walk out with Fenrys. Finding our way back to our chambers in a comfortable silence.
Back in our room, I make a move to take of my sweater, feeling clam and hot. “Y/n.” I turn to find Fenrys’ eyes on my face, his pupils dilated. He grabs me by the waist as I lay my arms over his shoulders, pulling into a kiss. Backing until I feel the bed hit the back of my knees. I feel my body heat at the touch of his, the remembrance that he is mine and I am his. Before I can deepen the kiss, he stops, holding his forehead to mine, nose to nose I breathe him in. “I love you, more than you know,” he smiles. I close my eyes, “oh I know.” And we tumble back onto the bed.

Hello!!! Can I please request a Fenrys x reader fic where they realise they’re mates during the war and all that but reader and Aedion are twins so Gavriel is also obviously her father and just how they deal with the messiness of the situation but also with lots of fluff from all sides? Thank you so much 💚💚💚
I LOVE this request; it took me a minute to figure out how to make it fluffy just because Empire of Storms is so intense but this is such a cool idea; I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it💜

Fenrys x Reader (ft. Daddy Gavriel)
Tumblr media
Your world flipped upside down when Adarlan conquered Terrasen. Managing to escape with your brother, Aedion, the two of you formed a plan to infiltrate the Kingdom of Adarlan, developing rebel forces for when you were reunited with your cousin, Aelin.
Aedion took over as general of the Bane, filling his ranks with those who sympathized with your cause, while you worked your way up in the palace as a servant. Your duties, ranging from cleaning rooms to becoming a handmaid to the Queen, provided great intel for Aedion that allowed the Bane to stage battles.
When Aelin returned, you aided in her rescue of Aedion, joining her and Rowan on their journey to Skull’s Bay from that point.
It was in Rolfe’s office when your world turned upside down. You stood alongside Rowan as Aelin pitched her deal to Rolfe to join forces against Erawan. And then the door opened, revealing two males who made your heartbeat stutter for different reasons.
You recognized your father immediately, and he you, when your tawny eyes locked with his. He stumbled forward, a gasp leaving his lips as you stared at each other. Rowan stepped protectively in front of you, one hand on your wrist as he stared down the famous Lion, the legendary member of Maeve’s cadre, Gavriel.
“Please, let me see her,” Gavriel pleaded with Rowan, his gaze struggling to meet yours around Rowan’s hulking form.
“Rowan, it’s fine,” you whispered. You hadn’t held the same animosity towards your father as your brother, Aedion had, as you always believed he had a reason for leaving you. This was your opportunity to learn it.
Rowan turned to you, his gaze softening at the hope in your eyes. “He is blood-sworn to Maeve. He can only deny her will to an extent, and I will not let him hurt you.”
Your eyes flicked to the other male in the room, losing your balance as you stumbled backward at the look in his eyes. Fenrys watched you, awe etched on his face as he, too, moved towards you.
Rowan growled, Aelin leaping up from Rolfe’s seat where she lounged as they moved in front of you in a protective stance.
“It’s okay,” Fenrys promised, his gaze never leaving yours. “She’s my mate.” Tears formed at your eyes, the instant connection you felt towards the striking male in front of you breaking your guard down.
“Please, Row,” you tugged against his grip, desperate to meet the two males you were sure would be the most important in your life.
Rowan looked down at you, pure fae instinct in his eyes as he turned to the members of his cadre, every bit the legendary warrior as which he was known. “What are your orders from Maeve?” he demanded.
Gavriel spoke first, his voice like something from a long-lost dream, a memory from a past life that you longed for. “We were ordered to find Lorcan and kill him. If you can help us fail in finding him, we can assist you for as long as possible. Please, Rowan, Aelin, let me meet her.”
After a long, tense moment, Rowan and Aelin nodded to each other, parting ways as you now saw clearly the two males ahead of you. Your father moved towards you first, his dark tattoos in contrast to his golden hair the first thing you noticed as you rushed towards each other. He was warm, broad, muscular arms pulling you into his lithe form as you wrapped your own around him. This is home, you thought, holding back the tears as you allowed yourself to simply feel.
Gavriel didn’t move, waiting until you reluctantly pulled away enough to look up at him. “I have so much to explain to you. So much that I wish I could take back...”
You shook your head, a small smile gracing your lips to silence him. “We will get to all of that - later. For now, I just want to know you,” you whispered, leaning up to press a kiss to your father’s cheek before turning your gaze to the male in the corner.
Breathing was difficult as you took in the extraordinary beauty of him. Blonde curls fell around bewildered, onyx eyes that locked in on you. The world spun around the two of you as his gaze held you in place. “My mate,” you whispered, moving towards him slowly, as though your feet moved of their own accord, your body drawn towards him.
Fenrys simply nodded, swallowing as his chest moved with each deep breath. A chuckle from where Rowan and Aelin stood drew the two of you from your trance, and you turned to see the amusement written on Rowan’s face. “Fen, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen you so stricken,” he teased.
You turned, enjoying the blush on the handsome male’s face. Biting your lip, you dared to bring a hand to the golden-brown skin of his cheek. With a slight giggle, you joked, “it’s nice to meet you, Fenrys.” He nodded, transfixed on you.
Gavriel cleared his throat, clearly refraining from his fatherly protective instincts as he leaned backwards slightly. “I’ve never... scented a mating bond quite so strong,” he noted, lip slightly curling as his glance flicked to Rowan and Aelin. They nodded in agreement, smiling encouragingly at you as they held their hands up, covering the scent from their noses.
“A strong bond, indeed,” Fenrys spoke softly, stepping forwards towards you as his fingertip grazed your jawline. A slight shift in movement from your father drew you out of the moment, stepping back as you giggled nervously at your newfound family, and mate.
Rolfe rolled his eyes, shooing the group of you out the door as Aelin sent him a wink. “Let’s go figure this out elsewhere,” Rowan grumbled, guiding you outside. The group settled at a pub downstairs, where you sat in between Gavriel and Fenrys, a deep peace settling through you as you enjoyed the presence of two males who cared about you more than you’d ever dreamed.

Follow You
Fenrys x Reader x Azriel
Tumblr media
Summery: 30 years ago, Y/N fell through a portal and woke up in Prythian naked an afraid. She counted herself lucky that she was found by the shadowsinger and his high lord, who took her in and gave her a home. Despite their hospitality she dreamed of her home and the mate she left behind, Fenrys, who searched for her until one day.. he finds her.
A/N: OMG thank you for all the love I've received for this fic!! I literally did not expect it and I'm so happy you all like it! You can read part 1 here.
You awake in the middle of the night and turn in bed to reach for Azriel, your hand skimming the covers in search for his warmth. When you feel nothing but cold sheets you open your eyes and look to where he should be, nothing. As you begin to wake from the early morning brain fog you realise you're in the townhouse, your friends had returned, and you were going home.
......
Hours later you're sitting in the living room with Rowan and Aelin, their presence and laughter bringing you such comfort, for the first time in 30 years you feel truely at home. Aelin was in the middle of telling you about Lysandra and Aedions wedding when the inner circle walked through the front door. Your eyes met Azriels the moment he walked through the entry way, his face a mask of indifference that made you feel uneasy. You stood from your seat on the couch, unsure if you should make the steps toward him, seek the comfort in his touch.
"Hi" you say in a soft voice, the world dripping away like melting ice as you and the shadowsinger stare at each other "Hi" he responds in a voice just as soft. His smooth voice encases your body in goosebumps, his hazel eyes took a quick sweep of your body checking for any injuries making you smile slightly. "Can you two stop being so.. weird and hug?" Cassian's loud voice breaks through the tension, making your smile grow and a blush spread on your cheeks. Azriel smiles as well and makes his way over to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders as he presses a kiss to the top of your head. You feel a new type of tension enter the room as Rowan and Aelin stiffen from their spots on the couch. "What's this?" Aelin asks, her posture changing from casual comfort to regal royal with the snap of her spine. You feel that stomach twisting guilt begin to suck you in again as you look between your friends. "She's my partner” Azriel answers with a slight growl as he brings you closer to his chest, tucking you in under his chin protectively. Aelin goes to open her mouth bur Rhysand raises his hand to interject "may I show you something?" he asks. Rowan and Aelin look at each other cautiously before nodding, slowly Rhysand uses his powers to enter their minds and shows them what happened that night they found you in the wood.
You fell from the sky, the limbs of trees smacking your naked body as you crashed to the cool ground. You screamed in pain as your plumet reached its end, hitting the ground so hard you swore the earth shook. With a broken arm that you cradled with care you began walking around the unfamillar woods, the air smelt different here, your keen eye sight couldn't pick up on anything that reminded you of home. You walked for about 15 minutes before a winged male landed before you. You yelped and began running in the other direction, your legs full of scratches that burnt and bled as your legs pumped under you. Before you got the chance to escape another winged male landed and put a knife to your throat. You whimpered and fell to your knees before him, your broken arm still pressed to your chest as you quickly submitted to the winged male. You felt the tip of his knife under your chin, slowly he lifted your face to his, all you could see in the darkness was those light hazel eyes. "Who are you?" he asked, his voice as harsh as the ground you kneeled upon "y/n" you answered. The male from earlier now stood behind you, their weapons within reach if they needed it.
The memory changed, a new memory coming to view.
It had been 18 months since the night court took you in, tried to give you a home, tried to replace what you lost. Azriel was at your door, a fresh bowl of soup in his hand as he knocked and waited for you to answer. After a few moments he let himself in, you were in bed, depression had taken its toll on you. Your hair was knotted, your skin blanched and dry, your eyes red and puffy from the lack of sleep. Azriel tried to get you to talk, but all you could mutter was his name "fenrys" over and over again. .
The memory moved forward again. You sat in the grass 6 years ago, your skin starting to give a healthy glow and your hair long and healthy. Azriel watched you as you shook your hair out of your face and laid in the grass, sweeping your hands over the blades as you took in the sweet spring air.
He approached you, his boots flanking either side of your head as he peered down to look into your eyes.
“Shouldn’t you be training with Cassian?” He asks, crossing his arms over his chest. With a click of your tongue you answer “I don’t want to train today, I want to enjoy the first day of spring”. A small smile threatens to creep along his face as he nods, considering your statement.
“Well” he starts, turning his head to look out towards the house of wind, like he could see Cassian sitting there still waiting for you to turn up .“What would you rather do today? If not train” he finishes, his eyes sweeping over to you once more.
You inched your head slightly closer to his left boot, cocking your head as you looked up at him. The sun cast his face in shadow, making his features look sharper and his warm eyes glow ever so slightly.
“Maybe I could do some spy work with you?” You ask, his eyebrows jump up in surprise.
“Really?” He says with a warm chuckle that sends a shiver down your spine “I’ve been here 24 years and never left this court, I’d like to see more of this world” you answer. His face drops slightly at your words, his brother has been locked under the mountain for some time now, prythian was no longer safe. He couldn’t risk losing someone else he.. cared for, not now, not ever. But when he looked at you, saw the hope in your eyes and watched as you held your breath, something in his chest cracked.
“Okay, you can come with me to the edge of our court” he relents but smiles as he watches you beam up at him.
Neither of you knew it, but this was the first stepping stone towards your relationship now. Love slowly blossomed between you in the following year, but he knew deep down you still loved your mate and that was something he was willing to live with if it meant he could spend the rest of his life with you.
Present day
Aelin and Rowan jumped back in their seats as Rhysand left their minds “what the hell was that?!” Aelin shouted, her hands coming to cup each temple of her head.
Rhysand took a moment to explain and apologise for his power, that he was showing them Azriel memories in hopes it can better illustrate your situation. You stepped away from Azriel and walked over to Rowan, kneeling before your cousin you took his large hand in yours.
“I mourned Fenrys for 25 years cousin, I still mourn the loss of him now…” you say as Rowans emerald eyes flick to yours, his mind still reeling from Rhys power.
“I know you of all people would understand the guilt I feel, Rowan, please do not pass judgement too harshly on me” you continue, your voice threatening to convey the very guilt you feel as it tremors slightly. Rowans eyes soften at your words, he doesn’t look towards Aelin as his hand tightens around your own. He gives you a small nod in understanding, his eyes flicking between your own, the pressure lifting from your chest slightly.
Releasing a shuddering breath you rise in front of him and look towards Aelin, you know her and Fenrys are close, you knew it was her judgement that would affect your standing in court. Her eyes pierced you in your place, not a friend but a queen sat before you now. her eyes rake up and down your body before she says “Fenrys has been in his animal form the last 30 years searching for you”.
“Show me” you say looking to Rhysand, his expression unreadable as his eyes shift to Aelin, she nods in acceptance and you feel Rhys power enter your mind.
You see a white wolf, from Aelins POV. It laps at the lake you swam in in your dream, its fur greying and matted in some places. Her eyes skim over its emaciated body, ribs poking out from under its skin.
“You have to eat Fen” you hear Aelin coo to the wolf, it doesn’t even look at her before it plods off in the opposite direction, off to continue its search.
Rhysands power leaves you again, you feel the bile racing up your throat as you turn and sprint through the inner circle to make it outside where you throw up over the balcony railing. Azriel sighs and leaves to comfort you as he always has.
Back in the living room of the town house Rowan shoots Aelin with a glare, clearly upset she chose that memory of Fenrys instead of one where he looked a little less disheveled. “How often does she react like this?” Rowan asks the group as he stands from his seat.
“When she first arrived it was everyday, now it’s… every other day” Cassian answers looking over his shoulder to where you stand beside Azriel as he rubs soothing circles on your back. “I know she is mated to your friend, I know you want to protect him” he continues, his voice soft as he looks back at Rowan. “But she does grieve him, do not think that because she has found Azriel she has forgotten her mate”.
Rowan looks out to you now, his chest threatening to concave on itself as he sees you, his cousin and best friend lost in a fit of grief. He places a hand on Cassians shoulder as he walks past him to the balcony where you and Az whisper to each other. At his arrival you look over your shoulder, your eyes red and puffy from the tears that you’ve shed.
“When was the last time you shifted, cousin?” He asks as he places a hand on your shoulder. “Rowan I-“ you begin but his warm share cuts you off, you sigh before you answer him again “I haven’t shifted since I’ve been here”
Rowan hums in response, then lightly pats you back, he walks around you and the shadowsinger, down the garden steps and waits at the bottom.
“Come on y/n let’s have some fun” Rowan says as he shifts into a hawk. Azriel looks to you in disbelief, he takes a few steps away as the rest of the inner circle make their way outside to investigate the bright light they saw when Rowan shifted. You look at each of their faces, then back to the bird that flies impatiently around the townhouse.
“What animal do you think is faster?” Aelin asks no one in particular as she joins the rest of the house. The inner circle look to her as you decent the balcony and give your body a quick shake as you prepare to shift. A bright light engulfs the garden again as your body bends and transforms into a black panther, your sleek body and coat shine in the sun, you move your paws along the grass feeling the earth beneath you.
Looking over your shoulder your eyes meet Azriels who stares in disbelief, but in this moment you don’t care about anything but the primal call in your heart. The call to run, to hunt, to stalk. The hawk swoops from above you, its sharp talons clipping your ear warning a growl from deep in your feline belly. As the hawk shrills in warning you take off, running away from the townhouse and down the streets of velaris.
A/n: sorry If this chapter seemed super jumpy, I wanted to give more back story to Azriel and y/n while also capturing Aelin and Rowans discomfort. I hope you liked it!!

Summary: Y/n has everything she needs in life. A family, friends, a safe place she calls home and most importantly a male whom she loves. What happens when it all changes when Y/n finds out about the betrayal of her lover and her so called family? Well, ending up in Terassen and in queen Aelin's court was not what she expected but what she will need to start her new journey full of surprises.
See masterlist
A/n: Hey everyone! I am so happy that you guys liked the first chapter of this series which is why I have decided to continue it yayy!! Anywaysss, enjoy this second chapter <3
Tumblr media
Y/n could not move, could not think or feel properly as her mind tried to come up with ways to escape whoever the male behind her is. The knife was placed in a way that, if she even dared to move her head an inch, it would slice right through her throat. She was wearing a simple white shirt with black pants and did not have any weapons, except a small knife hidden in her pants pocket, because in a perfect world, she was expecting to still be at home, preparing for bed, not fighting with Azriel and certainly not ending up wherever this place is.
As if he could hear her thoughts, the male slowly lowered the knife but still kept his hold on her as he turned y/n around. The second she turned around, y/n felt weak in the knees as she beheld the male in front of her.
Lucious, wavy and golden blond hair, beautiful sun kissed, golden brown skin and most importantly, those hypnotizing onyx eyes that look darker than a night devoid of stars. Whoever this male is, he was definetly a warrior or atleast a skilled fighter if his broad chest and shoulders that had multiple different kinds of weapons strapped to them were any indicator.
"You are coming with me."
This dragged y/n back into reality as she realized that she has been creepily staring at him. However, she did not have the time to feel embarassed as she noticed his slightly loose hold on her arms as an opening to her escape. With a quick move that the male did not see coming, y/n threw a punch to the strangers nose. This caused his hold on her to loosen completely and so, y/n gathered all her remaining strength and shot to the sky.
From above, she started searching for any clues as to where she might be. This site looks nothing like Velaris or even the Night Court. Open grassy fields, lakes, mountains...what is this place? not even the Spring court was this beautiful. Definetly not the other courts either. Maybe the mortal lands? But no, the male who threatened her was a fae. Definetly not Hybern either. Well, she has never been to Hybern, especially not after the war, but still, y/n did not imagine for that place to look this breathtaking.
Y/n's wings started slowing down as she realized how tired she was and that is when she spotted a small open area in the middle of a forest and decided to land there. The stranger is a good distance away so getting some rest and then exploring some more is the only good plan.
But before she could even sit down for a second, a giant white wolf leapt on her and pinned her to the ground, baring its teeth to her with a low growl. Y/n knew then and there that this was it, that she was about to be killed by this beast when suddenly, she got blinded by a bright light and the next thing she knew, the white beast was replaced by that stranger from before. He left her no time to ask questions or fight him back as his skillfull hands did a quick work of chaining her arms to his belt.
"You think that just because you have wings you can escape me? Get up." The stranger said, as he stood up from his position over her body.
Y/n bared her teeth at him before she replied, "Unchain me, I am not going anywhere with you."
The male, still looking down at her, only said, "Now."
"How did you find me? I thought my punch would have made you go home crying."
He gave her a cruel smirk as he said, "The next time you try to punch someone, try to aim properly."
"I was panicked! I did not care where I aimed as long as it got me far away from you!"
His face became cold and hardened again as he said, "Get up. This will be the last time I say it."
When y/n refused to oblige, she saw him turn around and start walking but before she could yell after him to unchain her, she was being dragged through the grassy ground by the chain. He was dragging her? He was dragging her!
"Hey! what are you doing?!"
He ignored her.
"Stop! your'e hurting me!"
He ignored her
"My wings! They will rip apart if you keep this up!"
He ignored her.
"You bastard! You are dragging me through the ground, stop!"
He kept on ignoring her.
With no options left, y/n sighed and shouted, "Fine! I will follow you, but please stop for a moment the back of my shirt is about to rip open! I will get up and follow you!"
At that, he stopped and turned around, still looking expectantly at her with cold, unflinching eyes that made her shiver.
To say y/n was furious, would be an understatement; however, looking at him made her realize something. She would rather die than admit it but y/n found it very impressive (and attractive) how he could walk so casually while dragging her weight with the chain linked to his body. Not wanting to gather all the dirt on the ground, y/n got up to her feet and started hesitantly following him.
As they kept walking, y/n decided to get some information out of her captor that could potentially be helpful when she escapes. So, changing her expression to the most indifferent and nonchalant one like she was trained to do, y/n asked the male, "What is this place?"
The male did not look back as he replied, "Don't act so foolishly by asking me such a meaningless question."
"I am not being foolish, I have no clue as to where am I and what this place is."
When she saw how the stranger scoffed but said nothing, y/n knew that she had to use a different strategy and so, she stayed silent because she knew she could not trust this male to tell him anything about where she comes from and it seemed he wouldn't tell her anything either. So her next best plan would be to wait and see where he takes her. But as if curiosity got the best of her, y/n asked, "What is your name?"
"That does not concern you."
"So I am to call you stranger then? As you wish stranger."
He sighed but then said, "Fenrys, call me Fenrys."
Fenrys. Such a unique name and yet, something about it felt so comforting that as y/n tested out his name on her tounge silently, she could not help but feel as if the name had something that made it feel special to her. And maybe it was that momentary comfort that made her slip up and reveal her name to him.
"My name is Y/n"
Fenrys did not turn around but she saw just a slight nod of his head in acknowledgment and that was enough.
When they reached the clearing of the forest, Fenrys turned around and told her, "Come closer to me."
"Why, I don-"
"Do not waste my time. You are a captive here so do as I say and come closer to me."
Y/n hesitantly came closer as Fenrys held out his hand. When she gave him a questioning look, he sighed and said, "Trust me, I won't kill you, atleast not until my queen commands me to."
Y/n took his hand, gave him a puzzling look and asked, "Your queen? Is she one of the mortal queens? There is no fae queen in Pryth-"
She did not get to finish her sentence as suddenly y/n felt this strong yet comforting power course around them. That is when she realized that Fenrys was winnowing them.
One second y/n was clinging to his arms as he winnowed them, and the next she was standing in the center of what looked like a large palace room. White, gold and hints of silver with green were everywhere, from the tall pillars to the designs on the ceiling. Everywhere she looked was a masterpiece, even the small but comfortable lounge chairs had green intricate designs on them. The large windows brought in the sunlight that made the room look very heavenly and peaceful. There was also a medium sized flag that carried the image of a white stag with a crown on its head hanging from the large window in the back. Y/n guessed it to be their house crest.
But, the fae in the room were what brought y/n back from her daydream. There were four of them. Sitting on one of the lounge chairs, was a a stunning female with pale skin, long voluminous brown hair that cascaded down her back and eyes of the most beautiful shade of green ever. Standing next to her, was a very tall, tan and muscled male with long blond hair and blue eyes. Then, right infront of y/n, in the center of the room, was a handsome, tan male with silver hair that was cut short to his scalp, emerald green eyes and broad shoulder's that made him look dominating. But what caught her attention the most, was the tattoo that started from his left temple and continued all the way through his throat where it disappeared under his clothes. Finally, next to him was a beautiful female with long blond locks and eyes that seem to be the brightest shade of blue. In fact, it seems like this female and the other male are twins or atleast related because they are the spitting image of one another.
The brown haired female spoke first, "Took you long enough."
Fenrys sighed and replied with, "She was not easy to catch."
The blond female gave a cool assesing stare at y/n and especially at her wings before asking, "What part of Erilea are you from?"
"What? I know of no such place."
"Do you consider us to be fools?"
This question came from the blonde haired male who was now stalking closer to her.
"Do I look like one? I do not know who you are, let alone where I am!"
Y/n suddenly felt as if all the air was drained out of her body which caused her to fall on her knees. She was suffocating, she could not think or say anything but choke and gasp for air. Just when she felt like dying, the air returned back to her body. Y/n, still in shock, did not care about her image as she kept kneeling on the ground and greedily inhaling air while still coughing.
That is when she felt a pair of arms hold her by her waist as she tried to get up again. The comforting scent of vanilla and sandalwood hit her nose and as she turned her head sideways...Fenrys was the one holding her and even though he was't looking at her, she could feel from his tight grip on her waist how unnerved he was.
"Let this be a warning for you if you lie again." That cold voice brought her back to reality as Fenrys let go of y/n, still staying behind her, and she turned around to see the silver haired male now standing before the blond female, protecting her.
The female pushed past him and came closer to y/n and asked her, although slightly less aggressively than before, "Who sent you here? Who do you work for?"
At that moment, y/n felt all sorts of emotions. Disbelief, confusion, frustration but most importantly, anger. Who do they think they are? Judging her like she came here on purpose. Trying to kill her with their...impressive powers. Since when does Prythian have fae who can take the air of of your body?
With a frustrated sigh, she says, "I do not know what this place is OR who you are. I know of no place named Eri-what was it? I come from the Night Court in Prythian so either you are the ones acting like fools or you simply have lost your minds because to think that I would come here of my own will? I mean, have you seen what I am wearing? This certainly does not look like something I would wear if I were to be sent off on a mission."
"You have wings. No one in Erilea has ever had wings before. At least not anyone we know."
Y/n was slightly startled when she heard the voice from behind her, sounding too close for her comfort. The green eyed female was no longer on her lounge chair but right behind y/n, as if preparing to attack her should y/n attempt something.
A gasp made y/n turn her head back around to see what was going on. The blond female was looking at her with wide eyes and then at the silver haired male beside her. They stared like that at one another, which made y/n believe that they were conversing mentally. The males eyes widened for a split second before he turned his head at her and asked, "Where did you say you were from?"
"Night Court in Prythian. Why?"
The blond female looked at her look alike, then at the green eyed female and lastly, at Fenrys who was behind y/n as well. Then, with a slightly shaky voice, she asked no one in particular, "The Wyrdgates. Could it be? Is it possible?"
The other blond one says, "No, you closed it. It can't be."
At that, the room grew silent as some sort of an unnerving tension fell over everyone. Confused and annoyed, y/n asked, "What is that? Where am I? I don't understand. Explain. Now."
The brown hair female came around to face y/n as she said, "We don't know what Prythian is. There is no place named the Night Court in here."
Seeing y/n's shocked yet confused face, it was Fenrys who spoke up, "Do you remember how you ended up here?"
Y/n started recounting what happened more to herself than to anyone else, "I had an argument with Azriel, then the voice led me to the House of Wind and then...the book of Breathings. Oh Mother above." Realization dawned upon her as she realized that she had just ended up in a completely different world.
"Well, we will pretend like we understood what you just said." The blond male said which earned him a glare from his look a like.
The blue eyed female sighed as she looked at everyone and then said to y/n, "We...we need to have a talk. There is a lot that you need to be told and a lot that you need to tell us."
"I-I am not telling you anything. You can torture me all you like but you won't get any information out of me."
"You need to. We need to know if what we believe is happening is true." The silver haired male speaks as he slowly motions for everyone else to spread around and sort of cage her in the room.
But y/n wasn't hearing anyone as her mind went completely silent and all she heard were murmurs as she felt like she was underwater. She started pacing around as her eyes were wide with disbelief, "T-th-that stupid book....Oh Cauldron boil me...I-I...home..need to g-"
"Keep your eyes on her." Silver hair says.
Y/n did not see how around her, everyone was just as shocked by her. How they were watching her every move, ready to attack her if she dares to try something. She did not care because she felt like she was hyperventilating, loosing her mind.
"Aedion call a heale-"
The only thing she saw was Fenrys's concerned face reaching out to hold her as she descended into darkness.

Hii I'm glad you're writing today!! Can you write something for fenrys. Him being in a new relationship and feeling like he can't give her enough because he's not too intimate (because of his trauma) and he sees her laughing with someone else and thinks she's better off without him but reader finds out and comforts him? Some angst/fluff please 🤌🏻💚
Healing hearts
He was scared. Down petrified if he was being honest. Fenrys wasn’t looking for a partner. No, you practically just appeared as if someone sent you down for him. Maybe it was his brother. By the river, you had found him. He had walked away from the training with the Cadre, the devastation of no longer having his twin there, hitting him with a wave of bitter anger. You had walked to the river to refill the buckets for laundry when you had caught his frame slumped against the tree.
The sound of buckets falling had caused Fenrys to turn then. To you running through the high grass. Running towards him. He had frowned, his mind not putting things together. And then you had touched him, out of concern but it had sent him into an overdrive and he shifted right in front of you making you lose your balance as you stepped back. Falling back onto the sharp stones. The metallic smell of blood filled Fenrys’s nose as you lifted your bloody palms to shield yourself from him. His head scrambled even more as he backed away as well, he didn’t want to scare you. He didn’t mean to hurt you. But then you had looked at him. More like looked through him. At the white wolf whining as he pressed against the tree. “It’s okay”, you muttered, “I’m not hurt and I mean no harm. You were just…”, you swallowed thickly, “Against that tree I thought you were having a heart attack, I don’t know… I’m sorry”.
The rest took long weeks to unfold. He was skittish. Craving companionship. But every time you would get close he would run. Leaving you for days without showing up. It was Gavriel who had visited you with a slightly apologetic look on his face. “If you have it in your heart, don’t give up on him”, he muttered as you poured him a fresh ale, “He took so many blows. Life hasn’t been kind to our boyo”. You had only nodded that night. Knowing better than making promises to ancient soldiers.
It felt like trying to get a stray to trust you at first. But then slowly, little by little, he had started to open up. You let him take the lead at all times. Even in the moments when your fingers itched to touch him, you held back. Telling him time and time again that he was in control here, nothing he didn’t want to do he didn’t have to. You had cried the night he had finally leaned in to kiss you. After months of waiting for him, being there with him. “Was it that bad?”, Fenrys had frowned, brushing his thumb against your cheek. “No, it was that special”, you muttered back, eyes getting lost in his. And that was enough for him. Fenrys had been a goner ever since. His heart calling out to yours beat after beat.
“Can we get another one?”, Lorcan lifted his empty cup at you as you scurried through the tavern. “Don’t bother her”, Fenrys was quick to clip back but you only threw their table a smile, “Lorcan, you asking nicely… Scribble the date down for me boys”, you mussed, causing Lorcan to roll his eyes. “You’re doing okay?”, you stepped aside, letting another girl pass through. Giving you enough of a reason to brush your fingers against Fenry’s palm. He simply nodded, looking around the room. You knew that he hated crowded places like this but he came back for you. And that was a gesture in itself. So not wanting to put more pressure on him, with a slight squeeze to his wrist you turned back, hurrying to fill the empty glasses.
It made his guts turn that he couldn’t claim you like other males. That he wasn’t playful. That he didn’t pull you into his embrace as you walked by. Fenrys was envious of the smile you kept giving to others. Of the flirtatious comments, those drunks gave you. And a part of him screamed that you deserved them more than him. That you would be happier with them.
“Don’t do this, boy”, Gavriel’s voice cut through Fenrys’s thoughts like a blade. “I ain’t doing nothing”, Fenrys scowled, eyes still fixed on you laughing at a joke some random bloke had told you. Doubting that it was that funny. “She waited for you and she’s been choosing you for months. You would be a prick to break her heart now”, the older male stated but that only annoyed Fenrys more. “You know nothing about us”, the white wolf stated firmly. “Oh, I know more than you know, clearly”, Gavriel inclined his head towards you and Fenrys was met with your worried glance from across the tavern. You must have sensed the tension. Fenrys simply gritted his teeth before pushing to stand, showing the double-sided door open as he went.
The late-night glow glistened in the lake in front of him. The only thing disturbing the peace was the occasional pebble Fenrys threw into the water. “Here you are”, the voice drifted through the night but Fenrys didn’t turn. “You had me worried, love. Did something happen”, your soft palm grazed his shoulders as you sat next to him.
“Do you want to be with me?”, the question left Fenrys’s lips before he could even think it through. “What… why are you asking me this?”, you frowned, “I’ve been choosing you every day for a while now, Fenrys”. “Choosing yes, but that can be from obligation”, Fenrys stated, “You feel sorry for me so you stay”. His words hit you like a blow. You wanted to be mad with him but instead, you reached your hooking your finger beneath his chin, turning his face towards you.
“I love you and I will fight your demons with you”, you stated firmly, “You are worthy of love and I will give it all to you. I’ll love you for all the people who didn’t”. Fenrys eyes glistened with tears as he watched you. “I can’t give you most things other men can”, he argued but you only shook your head, “As long as you love me behind the closed doors, as long as you find comfort in me - I don’t need anything else”, you reassured him and finally he nodded alongside your words. “Don’t leave me”, he whispered, “I won’t survive if…”, “I am not going anywhere. I’m with you. I chose you and you are my life now, Fenrys”, you leaned in pressing your forehead to his. His arms wrapped around you as he pulled you in, head on your shoulder as he breathed you in. He didn’t say anything else, you knew that he wanted to. You knew what three words lay sealed behind those lips so pushed your fingers through his hair softly, you whispered against his ear, “I love you too, Fen”, before pressing a gentle kiss to his temple.
