I recently had a really great conversation with another seller about researching vintage items and how much fun (but also difficult) it can be (hey @coyote.covintage!). This was one of the fun ones. I found this candle votive a few months back and was really into its design, and thought it fit well with my shop's aesthetic. Turns out this is some pretty rare and coveted glassware from Finnish designer and architect Alvar Aalto. I did some research on this guy and learned he had a pretty significant influence on Scandinavian modernism in the early 20th century. The collection to which this candle votive belongs was inspired by Finnish nature and its landscape, in particular by its numerous lakes. I'm hoping I come across more of his collection sometime!
