Smith feels his hands shaking so he doesn’t want to bring them into view of Mr. Michael. So he sits there staring at the slowly cooling remnants of his breakfast.

“Sorry about Jackson, he’s…” Mr. Michael trails off.

“No, it’s ok. I understand, I don’t agree, but I understand.” Smith keeps his head down.

“Should we call your Coach?” Mr. Michael asks and Smith does not want to do that..like… at all. There are a multitude of reasons why he probably should just call Coach Wymack and ask him to come back and pick him up. He understands that it would be the logical thing to do, but Smith would not describe himself as typically logical. He once imagined the fall of civilization as it is currently known because he’d accidentally brought his home game socks instead of his away game socks.
