DAZN is saying that maybe KTM is maybe wanting Dani to have more influence on the direction the the team and the bike might have, but not really an operation job which is what Guidotti might have.

They also think Dani might act as a link between the riders and the engineers, more than the old school engineer. Also they all assume Dani might still be involve in the test team

The wildcards is something that Dani personally doesn't chose where to do, and the team doesn't do them just for the sake of doing them. All the wild cards have behind a motive.

For Francesco Guidotti, KTM's team manager, a wildcard is not just for testing, in fact is the important fact. For him a wildcard is a test to see the actual level of the riders, the bike and the team. Also to see the necessities of the bike

For Esteban García, Dani's lead engineer, the best way to do a wildcard is to do it when on Monday there's an IRTA test. This way, riders can test the solution proposed during the wildcard. This way you can see what happens during race conditions compared to test conditions.

Francesco Guidotti says that Dani has various characteristics that made it difficult to consider him a test rider as he is a well rounder rider. He highlights Dani's particular technical knowledge due to the period of time he had started.

Dani's learning comes from the 2 strokes that is very different from the knowledge the current test riders have as they come from 4 strokes. Having ride the 2 stroke bike give Dani a particular sensitivity and it shows in the results.
