Your friendly neighbourhood bearer of awful news is starting the day with the aftermath of the European Parliament elections.
I couldn’t even vote because I can only vote by mail since I live in a different country than my own. I not only have to beg to be sent the paperwork for every single election but I also have to deal with the fact that I won’t receive it with enough time to mail it back.
The elections happened on Sunday. I got the paperwork last night. You know benefits from migrant workers not voting? The far right. And it has been proven that the citizens who move to another country tend to be left leaning. So their solution is to block our votes altogether.

### French Legislative Elections: A New Political Landscape
The recent French legislative elections have resulted in a significant political shift, marked by the unexpected defeat of the far-right National Rally and the emergence of a left-wing coalition, the New Popular Front, as the largest bloc in the National Assembly. However, the elections have also led to a hung parliament, creating a complex and uncertain political landscape.
Key Outcomes
**Defeat of the Far Right**: The far-right National Rally, led by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, was anticipated to perform strongly but ultimately secured the third position. This outcome was largely due to strategic voting and alliances formed by centrist and left-wing parties to prevent the far-right from gaining power.
**Victory of the Left-Wing Coalition**: The New Popular Front, a coalition of left-wing parties including the Socialists, Greens, Communists, and the hard-left France Unbowed, won the most seats but fell short of an absolute majority. Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a prominent figure in this coalition, has claimed victory and called for the left to form the government.
**Hung Parliament**: No single party or coalition achieved the 289 seats required for an absolute majority in the 577-seat National Assembly. This has resulted in a fragmented parliament divided into three main blocs: the left, centrists, and the far right.
Political Implications
**Resignation of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal**: Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, appointed by President Emmanuel Macron, announced his resignation following the election results. However, he expressed willingness to continue in his role temporarily, especially with the upcoming Paris Olympics.
**Need for Coalition Building**: The absence of a clear majority necessitates coalition building and negotiations among the various political factions. This could lead to a period of political instability and potential difficulties in passing legislation.
**Impact on Macron's Presidency**: President Macron's centrist coalition, which came in second, faces a challenging situation. Macron's decision to call for snap elections, initially intended to counter the far-right's rise, has led to a more fragmented political landscape. His ability to navigate this new environment will be crucial for maintaining political stability.
Future Prospects
**Potential for Political Deadlock**: The hung parliament may result in prolonged negotiations and potential deadlock, making it difficult to form a stable government. This could impact France's domestic policies and its role within the European Union.
**Role of Strategic Alliances**: The formation of strategic alliances, particularly between the left and centrist blocs, will be essential for governance. However, ideological differences within these groups could pose challenges to effective collaboration.
**Far Right's Future**: Despite the setback, the far-right National Rally has achieved its highest parliamentary score to date. The party remains a significant force in French politics, with Marine Le Pen indicating that their "victory has only been delayed."
In summary, while the far right has been stopped, France now faces a period of political stalemate and uncertainty. The ability of the left-wing coalition and centrist forces to collaborate will be crucial in determining the country's political stability and future direction.

French Election 2017
Just like I thought Donald Trump would win in America; I think Marine Le Pen will win this time around in France. In my opinion there's a movement towards more aggressive policies right now, as a direct result of migration/immigration. But I'm watching the news excitingly right now, let's see what happens 🤔🇫🇷✌🏻
