THE MOLD (points) or the rot in this case i guess. i love the "gleaming like bone" line personally !!! it feels very cold and clinical just from like. a paragraph :D

i personally really like the way ur characters (from what ive seen in the writing) have like small tone-shifts in their dialogue/exposition. alex using slang ("sayin'") and then penny taking on his little accent-isms is sooo cyute. also the part where they squint at each other... father squinter and daughter narrower eyes

ah of course the professional poet loves to yap in their own scenes. very funny. also DECK OF CARDS hearts desire (point). the bubbles mocking jamie is fun too "what did you expect from looking at bubbles buddy" SDJKFHSF

When Dazai said he’d buy Ranpo whatever sweets he wanted, this was not what he had in mind.

The older man in front of him was absolutely destroying his seventh piece of cake and a plate of mochi at the same time. Dazai for the life of him cannot figure out what flavour he’s devouring this time around- the colours are making his head spin. He can hear his already fraying wallet wail in despair.

“Say, Ranpo-san,” he props his chin on his hand, faking curiosity, “Why is it that you never really talked to me all this time when I worked in the Agency?”

The detective doesn’t even spare him a glance, “Because I hated you, duh.”

oh! uhhh it's been a while since i've read zelda fic but i HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend cym's wild era cinematic universe (@illusion-of-death) series. my personal faves from that one are:

happy holidays, renny!! here's smth small from me, i hope you like it :)

the kitchen was a mess of flour and icing tubes, the counter covered in sprinkles and cookie crumbs. leona leaned back in his chair from a distance, arms crossed, watching yuuta dedicatedly pipe details onto a gingerbread man. “you’re taking this way too seriously,” the lion beastman drawled, eyeing yuuta’s cookie—a tiny soldier with an impeccable uniform made of frosting.

“it’s not about ‘seriously.’ it’s about pride,” yuuta replied without looking up, their focus unyielding, but ears listening. “even gingerbread people deserve respect, leona.”

leona huffed, picking up a cookie and an icing tube with mocking reluctance. “respect for some commercial cookies. you’ve officially lost it, bunny.”

“better than half-assing it like someone who almost burnt the villa down,” yuuta shot back, glancing at leona’s previous attempt—a vaguely lion-shaped blob with crooked icing lines, lined over the gingerbread man template cookie they had lent him.

with an exaggerated sigh, leona grabbed another cookie yuuta had managed to salvage. “fine. if you want some effort, i’ll show you how it’s done.”

they smirked but said nothing, watching out of the corner of their eye as leona began to work. slowly, a recognizable figure took shape: wild icing hair for a mane, a slightly smug expression, and even little ears piped onto the top of the gingerbread head.

when leona finished, he held it up for yuuta to see, the corner of his mouth quirking in a self-satisfied smirk. “not bad for someone who doesn’t ‘respect’ the fucking gingerbread cookies, huh?”

yuuta leaned in, inspecting the cookie closely. “it’s… alright. tail’s too short, though.”

leona’s ears flicked, and he glared half-heartedly. “you wanna talk tails? your gingerbread looks like it’s got a licorice stick stuck to its back.”

“it’s a sword, you lion bastard.” yuuta corrected, rolling their eyes. they locked eyes for a moment before the corners of yuuta’s lips twitched upward. “not bad, though,” he admitted, tapping the edge of leona’s cookie.

leona shrugged, his tail swishing lazily. “told you i could do it if i wanted. just don’t expect me to make another.”

“good,” yuuta replied, smirking. “one’s all you’ll need—to prove mine’s better.”

leona barked out a laugh, leaning back in his chair again. “you’re on, rabbit. but don’t cry when you obviously lose.”

by the end of the evening, the kitchen was a battlefield of icing and sprinkles, the cookies a mix of chaotic creativity and sharp precision. neither would ever dare to admit, for their pride was all they had, but there was something nice and peaceful about all this. maybe they’d do it again.

Ngl seeing Zero and shadow man’s adopted father son relationship is very adorable and sad-. It gives me an idea about Ico and Phantom’s relationship.

What if hear me out—

Phantom is obviously a massive Zero hater (begrudging respect for him). And Ico is basically a soul reincarnation/descendant of the Guy, he’s weary around. So maybe some part of Zero’s connection through shadow man (foundness of Ninja types) is passed onto Ico. As she starts to follow phantom around like a duckling, since she finds his presence oddly comforting.

Leading phantom to be reluctant around her, he’s strongly aware that she’s not her father but the resemblance is too strong to ignore. He’s slowly getting use the idea of being an older sibling, he’s perfectly fine with Volnutt and Roll. So thanks to his little brother’s friendship with Ico, he slowly warms up to her.

He slowly starts to see that she’s kinda like him personally wise being blunt, cold, skittish and at times violent. She’s genuinely a sweet girl, who’s painfully shy and socially awkward. He’s one of the first individuals that she feels safe around to express her vulnerabilities. He doesn’t know how to feel about that…it’s cute…

As much that he loves His younger siblings they can be just as loud as the rest of his family (with the exception of his dear father). So he slowly forms a soft spot for her, in his own way. To the point that she shyly asked if he can train her of proper stealth abilities as he accepted with a simple nod. Somewhat taking the crimson girl under his paws—

The best part is that she also appreciates the quietness of it all. Giving her the special purr privilege (that only his younger siblings and father have).

Eventually forming a parallel to Shadow and Zero’s relationship. But more sibling like rather than father and son but ya get the gist of it-

First of all - yes!!?!?!? I approve??? Very much??? I tried to find an image to express how I felt, but I wasn't able to get a good one, so today the pen is going to have to prove now more than ever that it's mightier than the sword:

The idea of Shadow Man adopting Zero having generational affects that nobody could've foreseen is so so cool. It's the opposite of generational trauma. Instead of past abuse ruining lives, it's past parental love making things better. I'm here for it.

Ico following Phantom around sounds so adorable. Imagine that he has a chore or some task he has to do, and when he looks up from his work, Ico's done the other half of it. Just because she can. She might not know why she likes this random cat-man so much, but she does know that she wants to make him happy.

Imagine Zero showing Ico a picture of her grandfather. It'd be very bittersweet, like when your parents tell you stories about a dead relative they were close with when they were alive. Even moreso, since he who died in 20XX: Shadow wouldn't exactly have a grave they could visit (and even if he did, Earth is flooded now. If it wasn't in a specific spot, it is gone). And even if he somehow managed to make it to the Elf Wars or something, he still wouldn't be able to come back or anything like that, since as a robot master he would be barred from the revival method (no cyber elf + no biometal = that man is staying as a corpse).

Okay, this last point is literally just going to be me freaking out (but in a /pos way. It's chill), but I am very honored to have received this. Like??? Oh my gosh??? The idea of my writing having any influence on yours is just??? Absolutely wild???? Especially since I'm a huge fan of your stuff???? Hello??? What I'm trying to say here is
