Vorgeschmack auf Venedig: Chioggia (49.000 Einwohner). “Die auf Holzpfählen errichtete Stadt liegt im Süden der Lagune von Venedig. Sie trägt wegen ihrer Ähnlichkeit mit der Metropolitanstadt den Beinamen „Klein-Venedig“. Chioggia ist über eine Steinbrücke mit dem Festland verbunden. Der Vena-Kanal teilt die Stadt und wird von neun Brücken gekreuzt.” In der Hauptstraße Corso del Popolo gibt es ein reges Treiben mit Marktständen, Cafés und vielen Einheimischen. Schöne Stimmung, wie bei uns auch manchmal am Samstag Vormittag...Moment mal ☝️: heute ist ja Wochentag...egal, hier lässt man es sich auf jeden Fall gut gehen an den Kanälen, Brücken oder in der Gastronomie.

Relaxen am Campingplatz: der Campingplatz ist nicht mehr als zu 20 Prozent belegt. Daher kann ich mir in Ruhe einen schönen Stellplatz im Schatten unter einer alten Pinie aussuchen und entspannen. Und wer hätte es gedacht: ein guter Pool, erfreut mich mehr als ein nicht ansprechender Strand. Nach den Stränden in Rimini und Ravenna bin ich sehr glücklich mit dem Pool auf meinem Campingplatz in Venedig 😌

Venedig (261.000 Einwohner): ich setze mit der Fähre in 30 Minuten von Punta Sabbioni über zur Hauptinsel Venezia. Die Fähre ist rappelvoll und die Menschen stehen auf dem Boot um Platz zu finden. Kurz vor der Ankunft wird ein großes AIDA-Schiff mit vielleicht 4.000 Gästen an Bord aus Venezia heraus begleitet (unter dem Applaus der vielleicht 200 Fährengäste - ach nein, das habe ich nur geträumt). Diese Riesen-Schiffe bringen natürlich viel Geld in die Stadt (über €500 Mio. per anno), aber sind auch gefährlich für die Statik der Gebäude. Nach der Ankunft stehe ich auch schon mittendrin: Dogenpalast und Markusplatz. WOOOOW! Das ist echt fett! Ich bin sehr beeindruckt und lasse mich 4 Stunden einfach so durch die Stadt treiben: Gassen, Plätze, Kanäle, Paläste, Märkte, Gondeln, Boote, Brücken - es ist einfach fanatisch und so easy.

Erkenntnis: Venedig besteht aus einer ganzen Reihe von Inseln. Ihr historisches Zentrum (centro storico) liegt auf mehr als 100 Inseln in der Lagune von Venedig. Die bekannteste Insel ist die Insel mit Markusplatz und Dogenpalast, an die auch der Canale Grande grenzt, über den die Ponte Rialto führt: San Marco / Castello. Aber es gibt drum herum noch ein paar Inselchen mehr. Ich wohne auf einer Halbinsel am Punta Sabbioni. Die Orte der Lagune wurden auf Millionen von Holzpfählen errichtet, die man in den Untergrund rammte. Man hatte früh entdeckt, dass sich unter der Schlammablagerung fester Lehmboden befand, der Caranto und dass sich auf Pfählen, die man in diese Schicht hineinrammte, Gebäude errichten ließen
Überraschung: Es bleibt abends wieder länger hell! Ich bin jetzt 500 km nördlicher und es bleibt eine halbe Stunde länger abends hell - sehr schön.
