do people still get in alternate state of consciousness together and decide to start bands not knowing a single instrument?
like hey we should start a band and the rest of the night is spent working out who plays what? and then they go to like a pawn shop (i'm old okay) or whatever is used now for the old-timey equivalent of newspaper classifieds is and then buy instruments and start to learn to play together - poorly at first? or was that something that ended in 2008?

Nace and Jure brainrot let's gooo!
It's not a joke that they met Tinder. They went on a few dates and hit off because they have a lot of things in common. Neither of them looked for something stable and serious at that time, so they ended up as friends with benefits.
When Nace joined JO they pranked everyone by pretending to be strangers until Kris caught them making out.
You know what I love the delulu. They are the real husbands of the band.
Absolutely this is my headcannon now. I need to find that interview again where they mention tinder.
Jan is Nace's beard. He's not a very good beard because he's also a guy but the thought is there 🤣

Have a little obsession i need to get off my chest...
Homer Steinweiss (session drummer)
dudes been at the heart of the new york soul revival scene since 2002 and I barely even noticed until i happened to see a familiar face gracing Holy Hive's music videos, and tracking my deja vu to Freddie Gibbs NPR tiny desk session then following with that revalation trekked deeper into his discography. Which is in short.... quite fucked (but we'll get into that later)
what really grabs me now that I've listened closer to his playing is that his mission statement seems to be nothing too flashy, everything funky. dude has more in common with Clyde Stubblefield then more technical modern dummers like Chris "daddy" Dave or Luke Titus. but honestly his shit is so rhythmically tight and serving of the tune that everything he touches becomes 80% more enjoyable seriously listen to this shit...

this is just the shit I already loved before finding out he was the common thread minus amy who even though i really dig, I hadnt gone too deep on for various reasons (person reasons) but speaking of amy every live video i found of hers that didnt have Homer, was either over the top of just not sitting as well as this performance right here (ofcourse that a whole band problem not just a drums thing but thats a whole other rant). this guys a living legend im giving him his flowers now.
P.S.
Also listen to his work with El Michel Affair, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Lee Fields and the Expressions, The Olympians, The Arcs, Aloe Blacc... actually find his wikipedia yourself and get digging, Enjoy.

Jani Lane
Band(s): Warrant // Saint of the Underground
Albums/EPs as drummer:
Greatest & Latest (Warrant) - drums on all tracks but 4 and 12
Jaki Liebezeit
Band(s): Can
Albums/EPs as drummer:
Monster Movie (Can) Tago Mago (Can) Ege Bamyasi (Can) Future Days (Can) Soon Over Babaluma (Can) Landed (Can) Flow Motion (Can) Saw Delight (Can) Out of Reach (Can) Can (Can) Rite Time (Can)
Propaganda:
Can used to record improvising on one song for six or more hours, and then edit these day-long recordings into single 3-10 minute complete songs, using only stereo magnetic tape and razorblades. Jaki was so metronomic and consistent that even on his most complicated beats, he would be at exactly the same tempo six hours apart, making the edits seamless and undetectable.
