This is from my fic Every Time I See Your Face chapter 4.

~ “It’s nice to meet you, Ranger Reyes.” Said Detective Washington, who reaches out her hand for Carlos to shake, he takes her hand with his more useful hand to oblige, “thank you for having me, Detective.” He says as he takes his seat in the chair, he remembers being in the interrogation room with his father. After a call went rouge and believing in his gut as he would always taught him, after all this time, he still did– he just wished he’d stayed with it sooner and noticed of how conning Ranger Bridges really was, his father probably had the same feeling he did, and when he did it was too late. He probably knew all along.

“We do have a few questions for you if you don’t mind.” She says taking out her pen and paper, he takes a deep breath and releases, but it only comes out shaky, not out of complete nervousness but out of grievances, now that he finally found the killer he’d thought that he could move on and feel like it was some achievement, but all he feels is dread and anger. Bridges is dead and he took the easy way out instead of paying for what he did to his father, to his mother, to his family, and to him. He ruined his life. And it should’ve been him to blow his head off, not Sam.

“Ask away,” he said as he watched her gather her notes together, Sam notified him that she interviewed him already and asked about what happened in the mountains at the hospital, it’s gonna be awhile till they know that if he’s ever going to be back on patrol with the Rangers again because of this. “So I heard from Ranger Campbell that he was framed by your boss, that he had a hit on him to silence him, hence why he ran. Correct?” She asked.

“Yes.” He answered. ~
