looking @ all of this godtier stuff, i wanna say i dont rlly think classpecting is all that. it's a fun analytical tool for exploring a character's themeing and role in a narrative. but it's fundamentally impossible to assign an "arc" 2 a living person, & within sburb itself the godtier system has a very questionable view of what its characters arcs mean/should be. like. you can 100% interpret classpects as bullshit within the text.

that being said, again, they're still a fun narrative tool to bring outside of homestuck itself, & if you remove them from the intelligence/structure of SBURB they are rlly fun for vibes-based introspection. they aren't made up of nothing, they have clear inspiration & meaning to hussie.

i view classes like roles in a play. anyone can pick any of them for any reason, multiple at different times even, but you only know for sure if one fits you by playing it. my perspective on it is rly close to funk mclovin's theory.

i view aspects as a bit more immutable bc i feel like they speak to more core traits rather than the shit u operationalise, which is much more up to personal choice.

i have always felt a distinct calling to the space aspect, for well over a decade. i relate heavily to a lot of the core themes it portrays. i could ramble for ages abt that, legit.

the course of picking "witch" has been a progression to me. "seer" encapsulates how i am/was when trapped in passivity both internally & externally. relegated to a problem solver, advice friend, helper. a role which i perform well but am deeply unfulfilled & drained in.

the "witch" class encapsulates my fundamental need to have my own autonomy, function, control, freedoms in my life for myself & not for others. that is ultimately what i desire to be, & i feel that the "witch" encapsulates it well. i also fuck heavily with the archetypal "lonesome magician who is feared & revered for their wisdome and power" character. kid me would've fuckin *loved* being a wicked witchman.

like, i think it's worthwhile to work backwards from what you think of yourself & *then* put the godtier jammies on. bc fundamentally it is impossible to put humanity in all these little boxes, especially when we don't have enough evidence to prove the true validity of those boxes or their limitations. & they purely operate within the limitations of a piece of fiction made by one person.

this is why, although i don't put much stock in the actual system of classpects, my classpect is deeply personal to me. bc it culminates from extensive introspection. i also find it incredibly interesting 2 see how others classpect themselves, bc it is a fundamental expression of the self to place yourself in these grids, & *requires* personal interpretation of the system by a means that *also* says something about you as a person. like, it's a net gain if you're interested in how people live their lives & define themselves, which i am.

I'm reading one of the textbooks for my hip-hop media class, called "Prophet of the Hood." It analyzes the political and literary art form of hip-hop (It's extremely insightful, and I recommend it).

In the chapter, “B-boys, Players, and Preacher,” Imani (the author) breaks down black hyper-masculinity and white American's contemporary media “obsessions with the size of black male genitalia show us that an earlier era’s paranoid fixation on black male sexuality and the fear of black humanity” (Imani 120). It made me think back to how you explore Homestuck’s anti-black imagery in Slurquest.

Spectically, Gamzee serves as its manifestation (or at least Karkat's manifested envy for Blackness). Homestuck's BBC obsession can be applied to Gamzee’s Codpiece from reactions of ridicule, aggression, and sexual fixation.

Like one of the Myststuck with Jane; if you click on Gamzee’s codpiece, she becomes transfixed by it and expresses her inability to look away (4827). Karkat and Dave's conversation centers around it for a bit, to laugh at the sheer absurdity and joke about gamzee sexually defiling the Utopia.

I apologize for the length and quality, and I'm wondering about your opinion on this? Or if you have made previous posts regarding the subject? I’m still new to exploring your blog.

This racialized reading of the cod piece def works in the Epilogues, where trolls face discrimination and Gamzee plays the stud to Jake's cuck under the cover of blackrom... But I needed some time to assess whether race is central to the codpiece's symbolic function in Homestuck proper. I think I basically agree, though I have some qualifiers

1 - To your point, the Myststuck appearance is sandwiched between two anxious fantasies of phallic inferiority: Hussie's empty wand/pistol losing to Lord English's staff/AK-47 (declaring magic fake is here a sour grapes expression of the loser's impotence) and Tavros remarking that he "attacked [Vriska] with [his] bogus self-esteem... and paid the ultimate price." No clear racial polarity in the latter encounter, but the first could pose Hussie's whiteness against the blackness of LE's pimp/pharaoh affectations. I also think that scene might reference Drop It Like It’s Hot lyrics? But anyway, these being on either side of the Gamzee's appearance could imply that the codpiece itself is rhetorically positioned as an object of envy (as with Karkat) -- most likely envied by Jane (a transmasculine sentiment like her mustaches), but perhaps also envied by the reader, who gets positioned as the cuck by dint of watching Jane express interest in the package.

2 - But before we get ahead of ourselves, we should also note that the codpiece itself could be the link between the "fake" phalluses on either side. The story later dwells on how Gamzee's godtier costume and his wings are fabricated -- this also calls his codpiece and its contents into question. This preturns us to the eternal question of whether Gamzee "is" (or represents) a black guy or if he "is" (or represents) a white guy affecting blackness... and I don't have an answer for that! Sometimes he seems to occupy both terminals of that binary at whim.

I had a similar problem apprehending Karkat post-Slurquest -- does he represent a trans dude with his Bloody gash aspect symbol and blood-covered planet insulting his efforts to conceal himself, or does he represent a white cis dude who is being ruthlessly feminized by the racist porn tropes that inform the story? I'm not sure that question can be resolved, but both perspectives are useful in apprehending the story around him. The story is engaged with the gendering of race, and narratives around race bleeds into the presentation of individuals' genders.

3 - Bonus: if we narrow our scope for "codpiece" parallels to Myststuck itself, the closest in form (and rhyme!) are probably the "seedpods" that litter Jane's planet. Karkat jokes about thrusting the codpiece into Shangri-La, while seedpods fly up into heavenly Skaia. The pods shoot out water/seeds to fertilize the ground as they fly. The name "seed pod" was earlier applied to Demon Mobster Kingpin's weakpoint, which was some sort of thorny baby/penis.

The potions Gamzee sells are ALSO shaped like the seed pods, but troll "genetic material" is linked to blood so the implicit sexualization of blood vials doesn't really surprise me at this point. And I have a whole other post dealing with the decapitation motifs that involves, but we don't need to get into terrorism theming here I think...

4 - More bonuser bonus: worth noting that the initial penis to haunt Jane was on the Dr. Manhattan poster that Jake gave her. One of Gamzee's functions was to sell love potions to Jane (to coerce Jake into returning her feelings), so his codpiece feels loosely connected to the GIANT MUTANT PENIS jokes that Jake gets from Manhattan and Hulk. If the ambiguities of attraction/identification seen with Gamzee apply, we might infer Jake gives Jane gender envy.

One thing i have known for quite a while now is that I won't be able to watch another BL with this kind of excellent acting and direction and all the depth and seriousness this series had, anytime soon . I think this one surpassed most BLs in terms of acting and direction alone .

Still the three scenes that will forever be printed in HD in my brain are going to be

• the morning after scene with Qian in Yuan's arms

• Qian being shy after the kiss with the wine

• The tie pulling scene

The sheer softness of these three scenes absolutely pieced my torn heart back together after all the angst we have went through. I felt the butterflies in my fucking stomach these three times . The Unknown team did godtier work . I'm jealous of people who will watch this series for the first time . As delulu as it is , I can't help but hope for another BL with Chris and Kurt . Their chemistry is god sent .

The OG Captains that inspired most of the fandoms main headcanons and lore were @briannacherrygarcia and @storywhisper. Bri-chan was the fanartist. Story was the fanfic writer.

There's many other talented fanfic authors and fan-artists!!! Gifs and Photography were a HUGE part of the fandom! People would make reaction gifs out of any and everything! A lot of shippy moments that were captured by these talented people made up a majority of the lore BCUZ THEY WERE OUR ONLY REFERENCE FOR CANON CHARACTERIZATION STUFF.

@briannacherrygarcia (she was an OG captain of the fandom🔥🔥🔥 absolutely iconic queen💅 she's moved on from the fandom but please be respectful and don't badger her with too much wonderland stuff)

Hello hello, Tumblr!! I, TT, am the author of Apocalypse Abandon hosted on MSPFA!

This is a post asking for help with said comic! Currently, I am looking for a background artist, and anyone familiar with CSS/HTML coding! The work should be fairly simple however I do not have the income to pay a wage or anything like that. You will never be trapped working on it, though, and you are so free to back out any time!

Even if you believe yourself to be bad/average/etc at those skills, I would still love to have you on board if you want to expand them and improve along with me and the rest of the team (of uh.. two people right now haha). Below the cut is a short plot summary (without too many spoilers) and a few pieces of art (art will come as it is made and be uploaded here) you can peruse to see if you'd be interested in helping out. Apocalypse Abandon is a fancomic taking place (originally) on Earth C. It is very much meant to mimic Homestuck and sort of bring back some of the nostalgia of the Early Days whilst still showing a new, interesting story! It starts four main characters at first: Jule Jackson, Cris Warner, Xael Grison, and Remy Lalonde. These four, on the 13 of April 202X, are alerted by the Godtiers that it is their turn to save the universe by creating a new one. Despite half of the party (Xael and Cris) living in a post-apocalyptic Earth C overtaken by plant life, they manage to make it work! Jule is a gentle young lady with a green thumb and a love of crafts. She is the most active online and the youngest of the bunch. She is both clever and kind, a Sylph of Time, a savior. Cris is a bookworm, and even lives in a library! He is a big fan of Rose's work, having read everything she ever wrote on her adventures and SBURB. He is strict and precise, a Knight of Mind, an archivist. Remy is the "son" of Roxy Lalonde. He is a direct genetic replica of her, and yet tries his best to be his own person. He is not so fond of his mother, who has fallen victim to existentialism and back into bad habits. She has become something of a mad scientist these days, mixed with a cat lady. Remy is a shy and mindful young boy, he doesn't know what is future holds. A Page of Void, an opportunity. Xael is a little rascal, sometimes seeming more animal than human. That’s exactly how he likes it! He scavenges for food, chipping his teeth on bones, and sleeping soundly curled up in the catacombs. He is ravenous and rabid, a Prince of Doom, a destroyer.

I dont have a TON of the plot planned out, as I prefer to write as we go along. I am always open to suggestions from anyone and happy to co sider them!!
