Now reading the author's latest work Pia and the Little Tiny Things and enjoying it quite a bit -- her sense of flowing motion remains immaculate

They’ve been rebuilding the Tower of Babel, but this time they have a team of linguists on site. Every time God smites the builders and invents a dozen new languages, the linguists have a dozen decently sized translations in about a month and work can start up again.

The linguists have been really into it. They say the new phonemes are fascinating. As for God, I assume that at this point he’s just curious to see how far this goes.

on reflection, do you think the bit in skaianet systems about hitler doing the holocaust out of personal beef with einstein could have been a sendoff of / a hint towards the idea that the limebloods were wiped out purely because of caliborn's disdain for calliope?

There's certainly a resemblance... I wish I could substantiate it more, but even after rereading I'm at a loss. I suppose it's striking that the cherubim's mom was observing all of that

By my own reckoning, the standard account of the limeblood genocide is misleading... the grudge Caliborn holds toward Calliope personifies a misrepresentation of either race relations (where kind, innocent white is stamped out by vile, scheming black) or gender envy (where vile, scheming boys are attacking kind, innocent girls and stealing their aesthetics). So the limeblood genocide describes negative fantasies regarding black people and trans women, imagining that their flourishing entails the doom of white people and cis women.... at least that's been my default since Slurquest.

By that standard, one might expect the conflict between Einstein and Hitler to offer a distorted personification of the group dynamic of an antisemitic narrative... If I had to guess, I'd say that the notion that Einstein's intellectual contributions aren't really his own most closely resembles a Nazi pretext for seizing Jewish wealth, by way of framing that wealth as illegitimate? Historical Hitler claimed that Jewish people grew rich off of stolen German wealth, so the process of Aryanization could be framed as reparations for Germans. So in the same way that Obama's timeline hopping "legitimizes" the racist birther conspiracies that questioned his legitimacy, the matter of Einstein laundering innovations from an alien "legitimizes" an antisemitic narrative designed to de-legitimize Jewish people.

So I'd say there's structural commonality in Hussie's use of character drama to offer an inside-view of bigotry, I guess

wouldn't it be wild if the dancestors are played by the same cast as all the trolls. karkat va is also kankri va, etc

this wouldn't be that crazy lol this being a professional production and not an amateur dub you should probably expect some of the troll actors to be doubled up regardless. though that would ideally require them to cast a lot of voice actors who can actually Act with their Voices as opposed to just guys who can do a silly voice and I realise that can be a tough ask even for some blockbuster productions these days

having at least the ancestors sound the same as their descendants makes sense to emphasise the prophetic nature of their story anyway. though I admit the thought of dante voicing tavros is making me laugh
