In all seriousness, I had a mentally ugly April and so I want to thank the early May nuke that was Meet The Grahams blowing up my Twitter feed for getting me back on track. Sometimes you gotta pop out and hyperfixate on something really fucking different to get your brain back on track, which it did. The final draft of the next chapter is ready and waiting, and now I just need to get rid of all the goddamn rust and dust clogging up my arting gears.

I've done and posted multiple iterations of these designs through the years and they're buried in the archives but at some point I have to commit. That point is right now. I have to commit because these are going to be my visual guides for the next act of the story. Man, I hope I can pull this off. I want Din's look to be red for Aq Vetina and made up of scraps while he continues on his quest to rebuild himself. And I want Luke to have SOME color of some fucking kind and also I got tired of capes and thought the contrast to Din would be fun.

Grogu has some tweaks too but I need to stop dawdling and start thumbnailing for the chapter that is waitingwaitingwaiting for launch day so his little "design sheet" will come later. And once the chapter goes live, I'll spend the rest of the summer getting the pop-up shop up and running for pre-orders. Hopefully. Definitely. For sure.

"It is time... Are you ready?" The Unspoken turned to the young prophet. They held an orb of light in their hands. "I... I am ready." Anubis held his head high and puffed out his chest. His palms were sweating from his nerves, but his excitement overpowered his anxiety. "Good." The Unspoken gestured with their head for Anubis to follow them out of the tent. As they walked out, many voices started to cheer. The noise was overwhelming to Anubis, and he had to hold back the urge to cover his ears. He kept his head held high. The Unspoken carved a way through the people, they parted as they walked forward through the crowd until they came to a stone pillar.

They turned to face the crowd and slowly raised a hand up into the air. The people hushed as The Unspoken began to talk:

"This day marks the end of my reign and the beginning of a new - a new Overseer for our sacred trials. He has shown me his abilities time and time again; his delicate care for the injured, his vast understanding of the magics, and his ability to adjust to any kind of challenge. This day, I pass on the sacred Flame." The Unspoken gestured for Anubis to step forward, and so he did. The Unspoken raised their hands up, making the orb ascend. They then moved their hands quickly outward, causing the orb to expel light from it at a rapid rate. The light from the orb swirled around Anubis. Each small flame began to hit him and enter through his skin. It started out as a few at at time until all the flames began to absorb into him. The light slowly raised Anubis from the ground. He felt a deep warmth within his chest, and the feeling grew hotter and hotter as it spread through his body.

The orb faded as all the light went into Anubis. When the orb was gone, Anubis fell to the ground. He shook as he struggled to get up, fumbling and unsteady. He gripped his chest as the warm sensation throughout his body returned to his core. Once he was on his feet, he looked at The Unspoken. They were on their knees, weakened by the transfer. They looked up at Anubis and nodded their head. Anubis nodded back.

Anubis turned to the people. All of their unblinking eyes were on him now. He took in a deep breath and let out a soft sigh. He placed his hands over his chest, summoning the orb of light from within him as he slowly moved his hands out from his body. The crowd cheered at their new Overseer.

I wanted to redesign the overseer for the Ethereal Star AU since I thought his design looked a little bland. I might redesign the other elemental prophet's designs too, but I'll see... Anyway, this was just a fun short blorb of lore for the AU

It is important to me that everyone knows that Jee Eun-U and Woo Ha-Jun are both gender queer as fuck

Eun-U is agender and uses they/them pronouns but actually couldn’t care less how people refer to them. They will refer to themself as a man or woman or neither or both as they so please

Ha-Jun uses he/him pronouns at the moment but only because everyone else does because he couldn’t care less. At some point he’s going to acquire the ability to turn into a woman and she’s going to be rubbing how pretty and buff she is in everyone’s faces

god i wish they hadn't retconned maul's death. i get wanting to explore more of his character because he was, objectively, one of the coolest star wars characters to ever hit the big screen and didn't get much screentime prior to his death, but also his role was fulfilled perfectly within those constraints so i wasn't too upset by it.

but by retconning it and making it so he never died it's like. okay. what now? the whole point (well, to me, ymmv of course) of the theed generator fight was that it was the first ever fight between the jedi and the sith in thousands of years, and that in the end even though the jedi (obi-wan) won the fight, a jedi (qui-gon) and a sith (maul) still died. a master and an apprentice dying together to herald the start of a new age/the return of the sith. perfectly paralleling the way in rotj a master (palps) and an apprentice (anakin/vader) died together to herald the return of the jedi. in both instances, a father figure (qui-gon/vader) dies in the arms of their son (obi-wan/luke) as a sith (palps/maul) is cast down into the abyss to their deaths. (palps being alive in the ST and retconning his death in rotj is also annoying for this reason)

i mean i like maul. don't get me wrong. he's an incredibly compelling character and i enjoy seeing more of him... but there's always the thought hovering in my mind like "he should be dead though. he should 100% be dead. this wouldn't be happening if he was dead, but i honestly would rather it not if it meant that maul was dead."

like the tpm fight just doesn't hit the same knowing that canonically he's just. going to become a robot octopus at some point. (shoutout to palps becoming sith glados in the ST) it cheapens the moment for me. it was supposed to be a moment of triumph marred by the deep and soul-crushing loss of a loved one and it's just... not, anymore. or at least not to the same extent. AUGH i'm just. frustrated. wish star wars as a whole wasn't constantly reframing/retconning what's been established. just puts a bad taste in my mouth.

And a guide: -In no way these are my recommendations, I actually unrecommend a certain book here, my recommendations list can be found here. this one is the Wookiepedia list just less confusing (I hope) -She isn't a main character in all of these. At all. And some are just cameos, I didn't get into specifics about that. -Most of the canon books & short stories can be found in e-book/digital form, or in physical copies pretty easily, just look them up. -The same thing that goes for the canon books goes for the canon comics, although most of the issues listed are part of a series (as might be evident by their numbers). That doesn't mean you need to read the rest, because they're pretty stand-alone and usually just reference the other issues of the series/have a framing story related to that. -I'm not sure where you can find the Star Wars Insider issue or the Adventures Ashcan, sorry about that. -The Legends list is much more complicated than canon, since anything related to The Clone Wars series may contradict the prior Legends media. That's why I marked those in bold, as they are only officially part of that timeline, and don't make much sense with the rest of it (most of it, other than the actual episodes, were mostly de-canonized when Disney bought Star Wars with the rest of Legends). -There are ofc the original printings of those, but I also I believe most of the Legends books listed were reprinted as a part of the Legends brand, but if they weren't then idk what to tell you. -The Legends comics were also reprinted, mostly in big, pretty expensive collections. So it might be harder to buy those. I think there are digital copies of those collections, though, so you can buy them for cheaper that way. -The Clone Wars webcomics can be found here , through @clonewarsarchives (a great resource overall) -The short TCW stories (in bold under short comic story) can all be found here (once again through clone wars archives) -The Restraint short story can't be found anywhere I looked, only in the 2nd printing of Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter. One of 2 things on the Legends list I've yet to read. -The Dark Heart short story was originally published online, so it's here legally (link straight from Wookiepedia I sure hope it's legal). -I have no idea how to get to the Graphic Novels normally but I trust they're on eBay and co. -I've only talked about legal options but obviously, there's more. first test page

I made this page last summer to test the technique I was going to make a comic in. This first page is a lot different from the first page of the final version of the comic, although has a similar vibe, style and plot. It has been decided to not use colors in the final version too, but I still love the way colors look here, they add some of that feeling of a dream, of calm, peace.
