Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus and 5GHz Wi-Fi

Today I learned: the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus does very poorly with 5GHz Wi-FI.

I switched Internet Service Providers today, and moved everybody from the old modem-and-router-combo Wi-Fi network to the new router. Every single device - laptops, phones, Chromecast, Sesame smart lock Wi-Fi module - works just fine with the new Wi-Fi network, except for one single Galaxy Note 10 Plus: it complains that the Wi-Fi is not connected to the Internet.

Restarting the router helped... for a while, until it suddenly started complaining of no Internet connectivity beyond the local network.

When Band Steering is on on the router, Wi-Fi clients can connect to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz (using the same SSID); turns out there's probably an endemic problem with this particular device (that I don't understand - if a client can't connect to 5GHz, like Chromecasts, it just... doesn't, rather than complain of networking issues).

Turning off Band Steering (which makes the router announce two separate SSIDs, one for 2.4GHz and one for 5GHz) - helped the Note 10 Plus stay connected.

(The thing is, the modem-and-router-combo that I'm about to send back to the provider is also forcefully limited to 2.4GHz. I have a feeling I forgot, and am re-learning this.)

There's a project related to my interest in Warhammer that I've wanted to do for quite some time, but I know I'll never get the chance to actually do it. At least, not properly. And it involves... I think "historical preservation" is probably the best word for it?

See, I like to occasionally sift through my collection of old "out of date" rulebooks and army codex books from earlier editions of 40k. The sort of things that have been out of print for many years. Games Workshop hasn't sold these books in 2 or 3 decades, and they've all been supplanted by the current rules. And I do this because I think it's interesting to see how the game - in both crunch and fluff - has changed since 1987.

More beyond the break...

For example: the different ways the galaxy has been depicted in 40k between the different editions. In the first rulebook, when it was still called Rogue Trader, all we got was a small, almost abstract, image on the bottom of the page. The 2nd edition rulebook that came out in October 1993 (specifically, the Codex Imperialis book) had a two page spread, but it was also very abstract with a few notes, but no real detail to speak of. As far as I can tell, the first time we got a map of the galaxy with the segmentum divisions that we're all accustomed to now came from a very unexpected place: the very first Tyranid codex that came out in August 1995.

Of course, my copy of the 2nd Edition book is a very poor quality black and white scan. Those segmentum divisions could genuinely be there, and I just can't see it. Not to mention, it's entirely possible that a map with segmentum divisions first premiered in an issue of White Dwarf first, because GW liked to do stuff like that in the old days where you'd see it in the hobby magazine long before it was "officially" released in a rulebook.

There are a lot of glaring omissions from a lot of the other files in my collection: poor scans, missing pages, corrupted files... There's a lot I still don't know, because it's impossible for me to currently confirm that the little I do know is, in fact, accurate. My collection is woefully incomplete. Plus, I don't really have much past 6th edition anyway.

And this, in essence, is my idea: try and complete the collection. Find pristine copies of all the old 40k rulebooks, army codexes, even old copies of White Dwarf, and digitize them all into a huge archive for the sake of historical preservation. Of a sort.

Basically, I want to become a Lexmechanic of the Adeptus Mechanicus, looking for Dark Age of Technology era STC's uncorrupted by the Heresy or the war with the Iron Men. Either that, or I want to become Trazyn with his Infinite Archive on Solemnace.

Unfortunately, there are many problems with this plan. The first being GW's overly litigious nature. They see all this Warhammer shit as "product" first and a hobby for people to enjoy a very, VERY distant second. Doesn't matter that these books (and the magazines) are long since out of print and they don't sell them anymore, effectively making the old editions the tabletop hobby equivalent to video game abandonware... if they got wind that I was attempting a project of this nature, I just know GW would smack me in the face with a cease and desist.

Of course, the other major stumbling block here is the financial issue. And I'm not just talking about buying the books. Obviously, there's the problem of the rarer books that go for upwards of $300 or more on ebay, but there's also a volume problem. Even if you find some good deals, and you're able to find older books for $10 or $15 a pop, there's just SO MANY books, that if I were to attempt this I would be wasting several thousand dollars that I just don't have.

More importantly, there's also the machine I would need to buy in order to do this project in the first place. Because if I was going to do this, I would want to do it right, y'know? I wouldn't want to simply shove the books into my dinky little scanner-printer combo hooked up to my computer. The only way I'd get a clean scan using that method would be to physically destroy these very valuable books, and that's the last thing I'd want to do. No, I would want to do it right, and get a machine like Scribe, the book scanner used by the internet archive:

Now, obviously, I can't get access to that machine, specifically, because Scribe was custom built by the engineers at the Internet Archive. But other V-cradle book scanners that let you digitize books without destroying them do exist... and they're all REALLY expensive. A good one to produce professional quality scans is, like, $25,000.

And I know what you're thinking: why do I even care about any of this? Even if this project was not entirely out of my reach, it's ultimately pointless, right? Why would I want to preserve all these old, out-of-date, no longer relevant rulebooks for a tabletop wargame that has only existed exactly as long as I have?

Because... let's be honest, this isn't really about Warhammer. The reason I want to do this stems from a much deeper desire to simply Remember. It's amazing and terrifying in equal measure just how easily history can be erased, either deliberately or simply through neglect. All of these things in our lives that are seemingly so important to us can easily vanish from history, like sandcastles when the tide rolls in.

If I had infinite time and infinite money, and I didn't care about any kind of repercussions from GW's legal team, this project would not be beyond my reach.

But I do not have infinite time or money. And there are more things in my life that I need to be concerned with that are far more important than creating a... stupid archive.

Time to ramble a bit about ICAT bc the tag from @the-nintendo-dsi is making me think HARD on this. (Tag below)

Now for the ramble part. Big wall of text incoming!

Vanilla Bean (Siffrin) and Pitaya Panna Cotta (the King) being from the Vanilla Kingdom makes a whole lot of sense.

If you've not watched the story cutscenes for episodes 9 and 10 of Crispia in Cookie Run Kingdom, I'll explain what happens for you. The story takes place in the Vanilla Kingdom, which had been abandoned due to the war between the Ancients and Dark Enchantress Cookie and overrun by cake creatures that follow under her rule.

Because of the kingdom being destroyed in the process, pretty much most of the cookies that lived there had evacuated the place to go to other locations for safety, and those who weren't able to make it out in time had perished. We especially notice this with a lot of the cookies in the upper region of the Creme Republic, especially with one of the elders being from the Vanilla Kingdom (plus it's mentioned that those who evacuated had found home in the Republic thanks to the sea cookies).

Now, onto Vanilla Bean and Pitaya Panna Cotta. Vanilla Bean is the most obvious (due to the name/flavor and the vanilla bean pods being their safety pins on their cloak), but Pitaya Panna Cotta is not as obvious. Before becoming who he is today, he used to just be Panna Cotta. When he arrived in Dragon's Valley after recovering from the evacuation, he went to Pitaya Dragon Cookie to strike a deal: at the cost of gaining the power to freeze time, they infused some Pitaya flavoring into his dough, causing him to go from a regular-sized cookie to a cookie the size of a Dragon without the ability to transform.

Wish Craft does, however, still exist in this AU, as Panna Cotta used Wish Craft to keep control of his time freeze powers, and Vanilla Bean unknowingly uses the same Craft to loop between the same 2 days. It also causes that burning sugar smell that can be noted when Siffrin in the base game is about to loop back when talking to Euphrasie.

Plus, with the whole thing with the Vanilla Kingdom being in the sky, it makes it easier for the Vanillian denizens to do so many things related to the stars, planets, and even the galaxy. This makes it easier for them to position the stars on a star map since they're closer, but transporting the goods are difficult, since they're have to rely on different transportation methods than the Kingdoms on ground level to get the goods around.

Now, for the part relating to the Wish that made color disappear. Instead of making colors disappear, the Wish was for all cookies to forget what the Vanilla Kingdom was like. Was this a trauma response from one of the cookies that evacuated due to the war? Maybe, but that's how nobody remembers the Vanilla Kingdom, just like how nobody in the ISAT world remembers the Forgotten Island.

There's so much more that I could potentially go on about, but this wall of text is already enough.

I'm not going to poke fun at TOS "Miri" too much, because this is ironically one of the good TOS episodes. But...still...

Them finding an alternate-future clone of Earth randomly is pretty stupid. But that sort of stupid also gave us the episodes "What if a Nazi planet?" and "What if a Roman planet?", so, fine. (No, not the "What if a Mob planet?" or "What if a Native American planet?" Those were a result of slightly less goofy things.) Plus this was 1966. We hadn't even been to the moon yet, and I think they had only figured out what a galaxy was and that we were in one like a generation before this. No, I don't know how you fit this "there are just other Earths" into the modern canon. But I also don't know how you fit Picard and Discovery into the modern canon, and you absolutely SHOULDN'T, so it doesn't matter.

This planet was specifically at the level of Earth in the 1960s 300 years ago, when the Apocalypse happened. Which explains why it looks like a cowboy TV show set, littered with ruined cars from the 30s and 40s.

They go into a random building that looks like a store, inside it looks like a school, and one room is filled with racks of random medical equipment and high school science lab tools. And this just so happens to be the advanced science lab where these people genetically-engineered the anti-aging viruses that destroyed the world, because they also left mounds of folders filled with hand-written notes explaining all this. This is also the same building where the slowly-aging gang of children is holed up...like two rooms over. I realize this show had a budget. But like, you guys couldn't film the picture of a random warehouse exterior, and then shoot something in Roddenberry's office? That would have taken 10 minutes.

I like how the kids are 300 years old. That explains them being a little smarter than you'd expect, and the unique culture they have developed. ...Except they don't do much with any of this. Which is weird. Usually these Lord of the Flies-type stories make the kids into incoherent tribals, and that always happens after like 6 years of them being isolated. This story worked in a justification for some whole Thunderdome thing, but then they just say a couple odd slang words. We just can't win.

All the performances are good here, though Kim Darby is obviously not 12 or whatever. She was 19, which is young, sure. But the virus is supposed to trigger shortly after puberty, and this woman looks like a lady who had a baby shortly after this, which she totally did. Kirk playfully flirting with her to be nice only works if she's clearly a child. As it is, he's a 35 year old man being condescending to an college-aged woman. It doesn't land quite right.

Spock being unaffected by the rage zombie virus but clearly getting more and more irritated with the infected Bones and Kirk throwing tantrums is fun.

...Why would you EVER leave your communicators lying in a room while you run around to check out scary noises? That has to be a violation of basic Starfleet protocol.

They take at least one security guy down with them, station him in a hallway, then he doesn't show up again until the end of the episode. Is he infected like Kirk and McCoy and Rand? Why wasn't he guarding the room to stop the communicator theft? Why didn't he come with Kirk and Miri to confront the kids? Rand came down with them, for zero good reason, and was in the science lab the whole time. Why did they bring security, and then not have him secure anything?

McCoy got real lucky that that slapdash antidote he invented with the help of a blinky light computer that had zero input interface, that he tested on himself, didn't murder him. Why not test it on one of the crew that ISN'T the only doctor? Like, I don't know, maybe the yeoman who has zero things to do here, besides get upset about how she is getting ugly with zombie rage sores in front of the captain? Or the security guy who very specifically is not providing security of any kind? Or Kirk, who is just yelling and absolutely could pass out and Spock could handle whatever it is he was going to do?

...Why did these people make an anti-aging virus, and only test it on prepubescent children? Because obviously, it absolutely murders adults real fast and badly, so they clearly didn't test it on any. What is the point of even making something that keeps people 12 for centuries? Or did it somehow mutate later into the zombie virus? I don't know if 60s people knew about how viruses work, so I don't know what the intention was, here.

The last scene back on the Enterprise bridge has a strange ambient background sound going on that really bothered me. I don't know what that was.

Also Kirk says he called "Space Central" (?) and told them to send adults to take care of the kids on the planet. Who, until then, he just left down there, apparently infected with a zombie rage virus and running out of food. But Rand looks hot again so I guess it all worked out.

...Why did they even go down there in the first place? I know it looked like Earth. But you guys knew it certainly wasn't. There was a 50% chance this was going to go badly, Kirk. Do a scan or something first. Come on, dude.

Physics Friday #4: WTF is Dark Energy/Dark Matter? (Part 2)

Important Note: 50 people is a lot! (well after I blocked all the bots it was under that). And I never expected it to grow so quickly. But also I've noticed that a lot of people move in and out of following this blog. And I think one reason is because some people just want to see the physics/maths/astronomy instead of that plus random shitposts.

So what I'm going to do, is for all future posts like this, put this in a second blog to separate it from this one. And every time I post to that one I'll re-blog it here so that there's space for those who just like to see science-y stuff.

Preamble

Education level: High School (Y9/10)

Topic: Cosmology, Particle Physics (Astronomy)

This is the second part of three to the Dark Energy vs. Dark Matter post. In this part, I'm going to cover the possible ideas behind what dark matter is.

From the last part, what you need to know is that:

Dark matter and dark energy are completely different things, they're both dark because we can't see it

When we look at galaxies and orbits, what we expect is that most of the mass is concentrated in the centre (galactic bulge)

What we actually end up seeing is that there's a lot more stuff in the outer reaches of the galaxy, and we can't see any of it

This hidden matter, called 'dark matter' is what we have to use to correct our equations

Introduction: The chad MACHO vs. the virgin WIMP

Now unlike what this tile says, I don't actually think that MACHOs are better, it's just a play on- .... you know what I mean.

So, given what we know, we need to find a source for this hidden matter. The best place to start is to take a look at what we do know about dark matter:

It doesn't interact with the electromagnetic force (or if it does, it's very rare) - this allows it to appear as 'invisible'

It does have mass - as it affects the motion of stuff in galaxies

It needs to be plentiful outside of galaxies

It generally doesn't interact with other forms of matter

So now we have three different candidate groups for dark matter:

Weakly-interacting particles, including WIMPs (weakly interacting massive particles)

Really big objects that happen to not radiate a lot (also known as MACHOs)

Modified theories of gravity on the large scale

We also need to worry about the way in which this matter is produced. Which is where the cold-warm-hot metric is introduced. It has less to do with temperature and more with speed, particularly in the early universe (see free streaming length for more details - I'm oversimplifying).

What's important is what this "free streaming length" does. Larger lengths corresponds to the formation of larger structures first, then smaller internal structures later.

A cold dark matter model corresponds to dark matter with a small speed in the early universe. In the current day, we think that this is the best model - as it allows for the formation of galaxies first, then clusters of galaxies later - something that we have observed.

Hot dark matter is on the higher end of the speed spectrum and is more equivalent to the formation of big super-galactic sponges before the individual galaxies appear.

The Jocks of the Galaxies: MACHOs

A MACHO is also known as a MAssive Compact Halo Object

Massive - it's heavy Compact - "self-contained" in a way, it doesn't interfere with stars and it doesn't radiate much Halo - it exists in the galaxy's "Halo", a region surrounding the galaxy

Small or Primordial Black Holes

The immediate thought, right of the bat, is to think of a black hole. I mean, it's heavy, and it sucks up literally everything. You may object because of hawking radiation but it's very difficult to see that. So what we get is effectively no radiation.

The problem comes with the fact that it's heavy. Where are you going to get all of this stuff into one place? And won't you be able to detect the effects of these objects on star systems?

The early universe was small, really small, and there was a lot of stuff all compacted into this area. Is it not possible that portions of space end up "pinched" and turn into black holes? Well, maybe!

These black holes from the early universe continue on into the modern day to form the dark, unseeable 'mass' on galaxies.

The problems come with hawking radiation (and not because of the aforementioned radiating) ... black holes naturally emit radiation. A topic I may cover in more detail in a future post. But for now, because of this radiation, black holes actually shrink in size over time and eventually disappear.

This puts a lower bound on how small a primordial black hole can be. As any smaller black holes would've popped out of existence by now.

We could also opt for using smaller black holes that formed more recently, but that also comes with the initial issue of how do we make them?

Red Dwarfs, Brown Dwarfs, Black Dwarfs, or Rouge Planets

Often stars don't go out with a bang. In fact, it's more likely that they simply fizzle out. Black dwarfs are what results from this. And because of it they're just dark solid spheres of material.

Some stars are just small and dim. Red dwarfs are incredibly, INCREDIBLY common in our galaxy. It might be possible that we don't see them because they are so dim.

Some stars don't even form, they just don't ignite. These failed stars turn into brown dwarfs. They are unusually large gas giants with a faint glow.

Some planets get knocked out of their system - for any reason. These planets, without light, wander the galaxy alone.

These four objects, are large, dark, and too small to really interact with anything. And it might be the case that these rouge objects are more common than we think! Enough to account for the missing mass.

The issue is just how we are able to find them so far out of the reaches of the galaxy. Hypothetically, we could say that because of the lack of abundant gas in the outer reaches we end up with failed or dim stars.

Dark Stars

This is both the most interesting candidate for dark matter, and also the least documented. Primarily because we're talking about objects made of shit we haven't even seen.

Dark stars come in two varieties, ones made of dark energy, ones made of dark matter.

Dark energy stars are effectively legacy candidates of black holes, that the dark energy in the universe 'pinches' like in our primordial black hole scenario.

Dark matter stars require us having some sort of particle concentrated in a star-like object. It is of course, a strange idea, and it additionally requires the existence of small particles contributing to dark matter.

The Little Nerds: WIMPs, WISPs, and other particles

The easiest (and most likely) answer is that we're looking for some sort of small particle somewhere in the universe in big concentration.

The core idea is of the WIMP, a very large particle (large being relative i.e. as heavy as maybe an atom), which doesn't interact much.

We want larger particles because, well, then we can have less than them. It's easier to explain that then having particles that are incredibly numerous.

But there's also another type of candidate: WISPs. The S stands for slender. Maybe we don't actually require massive particles, maybe we can have a particle that doesn't interact with stuff. That in order to interact with it you have to be really close to it and so you just don't end up interacting with it.

Neutrinos

Neutrinos are the most obvious candidate. Because we already know they exist. And we know where they are produced.

Every time you undergo nuclear fusion, you actually produce neutrinos as a bi-product. When you have collapsing and exploding stars, this neutrino radiation becomes so numerous it could fry you.

The benefit of neutrinos is that they only interact via the weak force, which only operates when you're really close to the neutrino. This makes neutrinos a type of WISP.

So why do we not declare that this is dark matter? The issue is that neutrinos are hot dark matter. So if they made up dark matter it wouldn't fit with what we see when we look outside.

We could go for a new, yet similar particle, the sterile neutrino. However we end up falling into the same pattern of needing to find an undiscovered particle.

The Axion

Axions are a hypothetical WISP particle that interacts using either the strong force or the electromagnetic force. They are our best traditional candidate for dark matter. A particle that does exactly what we want it to do.

It's sort of like the "string theory" of dark matter candidates, the cleanest looking idea which we still don't have good evidence for.

Strangelets

Strangelets are particles containing the strange quark. They are candidates for dark matter because they fall more into the WIMP class than anything else.

The scary consequence of these particles is that they become more stable with more particles, so they could effectively turn other matter into strange quarks until an entire planet or star is consumed by them.

Fuzzy Dark Matter

Sometimes when you need a big particle, you actually should look for a small one. Fuzzy dark matter basically hypothesises that there are particles that are incredibly light, allowing them to form wavy fields of stuff that contributes to the mass of galaxies.

Quantum Weirdness and SUSY

SUSY, or supersymmetry, is a foundational component of string theory that states that force is directly translatable to mass. That for every fermion particle type, there exists an equivalent particle that acts as a boson. And every boson, there is an equivalent fermion.

You don't need to worry about the difference between bosons and fermions outside of that they are force carrying, and normal particles respectively.

SUSY, and other weird quantum effects are additionally proposed candidates to dark matter, as they can generate new and weird particles or forces that might contribute to the missing mass. But also, they have had a bad reputation in more recent years for returning negative results.

What if Gravity is Just Wrong?

So this is our last category. Forget the large black holes and the tiny new particles, maybe gravity is just wrong! That we got general relativity right on the scales of planets and stars, but not at all when it comes to larger masses like galaxies and clusters.

Modified Newtonian Gravity

Modified newtonian gravity, or MOND, is the idea that, when acceleration is low enough, the motion of particles stop following the rules dictated by newton's laws. Specifically becoming F=ma^2 instead of F=ma.

This, however, implies that ALL of newtonian mechanics becomes affected by this change, so it's often proposed that this modified newton's law affects only gravity compared to other forces like electromagnetism.

We can also develop this idea into our more fundamental understanding of gravity, General Relativity. Using what's known as Tensor-Vector-Scalar gravity.

The problem is that this is a pretty big change to make. Disproving gravity - it sounds less like a sound theory and more like a conspiracy theory. But of course, that's how we would've treated previous theories of gravity when they first came out.

Another problem is that the current proposed MOND theory still requires the existence of some form of dark matter MACHO or particle.

Entropic Gravity

Entropic gravity is another interesting theory, especially because it also acts as a theory of quantum gravity (i.e. solving the biggest problem in all of physics).

Basically, gravity actually doesn't exist, but is instead a cumulative effect of quantum disorder. Emerging in the same way that temperature emerges from the second law of thermodynamics.

This helps us solve the dark matter problem by demonstrating that gravity changes as we scale things up. Similar to how temperature looks different if we were, say, looking at whizzing atoms in a box compared to a warm block of metal. And MOND theories end up emerging if we extend the scales beyond that of stars and planets.

Yet, the problem still remains, that this requires us disprove the existence of gravity. It would take quite a lot to try and do that. Including accounting for how we get from the probabilistic world of the quantum to the tangible normal world.

Conclusion: So ... Which one is right?

Short Answer: None

We don't really have enough experimental evidence to prove any of these to be the true source of dark matter, or even a combination of different sources. There is experimental data of course, we've been looking for ages. But a lot these experiments either don't give conclusive results or just limit the possible ranges of their properties.

The search for dark matter is ongoing, and is still certainly under the works. It's one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in physics, and just like other theories, the ideas we come up with just end up getting disproven or are too hard to prove to begin with.

This post was a whopper! It took a lot more research and reading to wrap my head around all of the different concepts, as it is just beyond my area of knowledge. But hopefully, I at least explained it well enough for y'all to understand.

As always, feedback is much appreciated. I know I didn't cover things in too much detail, but what can you do when there's so many proposals. I more wanted to talk about the general base ideas of each one instead of getting into the nitty-gritty for a few.

Next week I'll focus on something related to computer science, and finally the week after that, cap things off with a discussion on what Dark Matter is!

Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Reviews Episode 3-22: Chat Blanc

Fun fact: One nickname I often have for Chat Noir is Cattablack (also my hypothetical name if I had the Black Cat Miraculous,) from "Cat Black," which is the English translation of "Chat Noir." However, the etymology for English black has the same origins as French White (also the word blank!), so in a sense, Cattablack is both Chat Noir and Chat Blanc! On with the show.

Straight to Emile's corpse. Also I have to wonder, where are those enormous windows with light shining through in the Agreste Manor? They have to be someplace open to daylight at least.

Awawawawa! The girlsquad! Also they do picnics, sleepovers, and the movies. Noted.

That "No." cut was great, though. Good on Marinette for not giving up, however. Good for Marinette on not quitting, the girlsquad for encouraging her, and Rose for having enough of this shit! Losing her favorite unicorn plushie probably helped.

But don't break into his house! He's not there, you weirdo! As much as I want this mahogany to end and for Adrien to friendzone her, stalking is NOT the way! On the other hand, if she did break and enter, it could out Marinette as a creep...

SHE'S SNIFFING THE PILLOW!?

Oh god now that he's connected the dots he's in love with Marinette. Plagg's trying his hardest but it's too late.

Oh right. This is the episode where Chat Noir gets akumatized and causes the End of Evangelion. Not what I normally think of when I think of Marinette and Adrien's relationship having catastrophic consequences, but still.

Also again with the time travel plots not making sense. Is the future set in stone or not!? Why are only things only disappearing when they change in Bunnix's rewind vision? It's Bill and Ted 3 all over again.

On the plus side, Marinette with her hair down.

You know, Marinette's parents could've called CPS on Gabriel's controlling attitude, or Marinette could've explained truthfully why she broke up with Adrien.

So that's his response to discovering his father is Hawkmoth. Good to know.

That was a good mental breakdown. 10/10 there.

Bunnix, why are you getting a teenaged Ladybug to fix this? Can't you do it? Can't the adult Ladybug do it?

The end of the world!? That looks more like the end of at least two galaxies! Holy hell!

You could've just said the gift was from Marinette, Ladybug. Whatever.

So was that sunset scene in the normal or Chat Blanc timeline? I'm confused.

Well that was an interesting episode. Here's how Marinette and Adrien's relationship can ruin everything without Hawkmoth or any evil butterfly holder!

As we know, Marinette is obsessed with Adrien, to stalkerish levels, as shown by this very episode with her sniffing Adrien's pillow when she's all alone in his room.

She also shows controlling tendencies with her schedule of Adrien allowing her to know where he is for most of the time and her stealing his phone to delete an embarrassing message she sent him.

She's also prone to being vengeful, such as when Chloe, Lila, or Kagami get closer to Adrien then her.

Let's keep these traits in mind as we imagine there being no evil Butterfly or Peacock Miraculous users, maybe even no evil at all. Most likely those Miraculouses are in the good hands of the guardian, or Marinette. Also imagine that Marinette and Adrien know eachothers' identities and are older and dating, if not married.

On one day, Adrien arrives home a little later than usual for Marinette. Maybe he didn't keep track of time while spending time with his friends. Maybe he had to walk home and his phone was out of power.

Marinette starts to get worried. She tries to call him. He doesn't respond, either due to how noisy the social gathering is or because is phone is out.

When Adrien finally gets back, Marinette starts to fuss over him. She was so worried! She's so glad he's back. Where was he? He shouldn't do that again. Adrien doesn't think it's that big of a deal, but Marinette disagrees. The gap has formed.

Adrien at least tries to be more punctual, but that doesn't always work. Marinette starts to get more and more worried. What if he's cheating on her with someone else? She's had similar worries in the show, after all.

These conflicts begin to escalate. Marinette's concern for Adrien begins to turn to concern that he's doing something behind her back. An argument breaks out. Adrien notes that Marinette's acting like his father. This makes things worse.

Tension begins to build up until Marinette, someone who as Ladybug had to save so many of her loved ones by fighting them, does something she shouldn't have and immediately regrets. Maybe Adrien was in another verbal fight with her. Maybe he was going out somewhere, possibly to come back late or early.

Adrien Agreste is now in critical condition. It's unknown when he'll wake up, if ever. Marinette has to right this wrong and make sure this never happened, no matter what it takes.

If Tikki and Plagg didn't escape with their Miraculouses as they watched this relationship go to hell, all of reality shall be annihilated and recreated.

If one or both of them did manage to escape, then hey, she has or can easily take the Butterfly miraculous! All she needs to do is turn someone into a super and help them out with their problems in exchange for the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses, wherever they are!

This isn't ensured to happen, but you have to admit Marinette has a lot of similarities to Gabriel Agreste, especially in regards to how she views Adrien. Not to mention that nowhere in the show is she ever really punished for those above negative traits. At points they're even excused.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention that Natalie seems to show remorse upon discovering Adrien is Chat Noir. More points for her!

Since Death Battle has changed, so have my notes...

As mentioned previously, I’m changing my output on notes. Instead of right after a Death Battle I researched, I’m going to do it based on the things of the year. So let’s see what events happened.

Before the Shutdown...

As people expected, the matches this year were matches meant for Season 11. For me, I was head researcher for Bowser Vs Eggman, which was a match we wanted to do for a very long time and was originally meant for Season 10. As for Wile E Vs Tom, while I didn’t get the position of Head Researcher for either of them, I was a part of the planning since I knew so much about the two. They asked for a clip of Tom playing the piano, I got them the exact one they’re looking for. I showed them a clip of them explaining why they've been chasing each other for years. I was the one who discovered Anti-Looney DNA. So I can confidently say I was involved in it. We were even going to get a pay raise and...

Goodbye Rooster Teeth

Yeah, this came out of nowhere. I don’t think anyone knew it was going to happen until it was announced. Maybe a select few but overall a surprise. So I got a severance pay and that was it. They were hoping Death Battle could continue in some form, so I waited. I still had my own projects to do so I was able to keep going without Death Battle. But that did let me loosen up on my own self-appointed rules. I didn’t promote other Vs Shows (ones with research) that were similar to DB but now that it's no longer available, they’re keeping the community alive with their own unique matches. And even with DB returning, I am putting them in my MG Must See Playlists when I update on the Middle Ground.

Pre-Kickstarter

A great day was finding out we were coming back as an independent show. I immediately came back to their current HQ for Death Battle. Then I got hacked. The hacker in question got my friend and wasn’t automated. It was like a person was actually behind it. So much so when they entered the Middle Ground Discord, they were pretending to be me. Luckily, the instant I realized what happened, I went to Twitter to tell people I was hacked, made a new Discord account to let people know, and was about to nuke my Discord account to prevent anymore spreading. Luckily Discord itself came to me to restore my control. But that means I was kicked out of the DB and couldn’t participate in any of the Pre-Kickstarter stuff. But once it got announced publicly, I was back on. 

Bardock Vs Omniman

One thing that was different than before is my participation in the editor streams. Sometimes the editors or animators stream their works and talk with the others there. Sometimes asking for help. In this episode, I helped by finding Bardock firing a beam. I also tried to help find the Leprechaun Car scene, but Max found a better quality. It is nice to help beyond that.

Bowser Vs Eggman

I was the head researcher for Eggman. And sadly, I knew coming in Eggman was likely gonna lose. Bowser’s superior strengths plus the fact he had access to all his magic on him Vs Eggman needing various machines to do so made it obvious. But I did try to turn the tides which influence the script a bit as the Metal Virus and Displacement Traps were things I was pitching could be ways for Eggman to counter the advantages. They were not. Another thing I tried to do was pitch the idea that Eggman conquering the Planet was more impressive than Bowser conquering the Galaxy because he had to face adversaries.

But that just highlighted how dumb Sonic Forces was. A few months later Eggman nearly conquered the planet. Yet Shadow, Knuckles, Tails, Amy, Silver, the Chaotix and others were there and didn’t pose a threat? Shadow is on equal footing and he doesn’t show up to beat his own faker until like half way till Sonic shows up. And it's only when Sonic comes back that the tides turn... How? Seriously how?

Another stupid thing about Forces: their (as in Sega’s) insistence on calling the Phantom Ruby perception manipulation despite the fact there’s so much evidence that it does change reality. The Hard Boiled Heavies were made by the thing and continue to exist after its disposal. Between Encore Mode and IDW, Heavy King and the others still are there so how is it not reality warping? It works on machines too, who shouldn’t be affected by such things since their eyes work differently. I even saw a Japanese Translated gameplay of Forces to see if America just messed up the translations. Nope, even in Japan it's considered perception manipulation. Why did they show the thing create dimensions, change gravity and create things that could actually hurt people if it's all just perceptions?!?

It probably wouldn't have changed the result since Bowser could also do that without a McGuffin, but it would have saved me a headache. Another thing, Sonic Dream Team and Frontier’s Final DLC came out after everything was settled, but nothing really added to them other than showing clips from them as well as Nightmare Eggman in the Alternate Scenario. And one more thing: Moro was asking us about adding anything to the background. My suggestion made it in: an Egg Robo riding a Motobug. They saw it as a reference to Heavy Rider, I saw it as a Reference to Jimmy. 

Fall Guys Vs Among Us

For this one, we were playing the games to get footage, so I got to play with pretty much all the researchers, editors and our two hosts. We began with Fall Guys and I don’t think I ever made it to the final round. I was there when they created that scene about Boomstick trying to push off Wiz, but I was off screen. Sadly not clipped was me basically being swung around a hammer for a long time before getting off. 

Sadly, as for Among Us, I was going to play the role of Dummi in the game. But after my first kill and a report, my internet died. It didn’t come back on until the morning, where I had to call Spectrum to get it back on. So my only influence on Dummi was giving him his color, the Dum Sticky Note, and the Pet Ellie Rose from Henry Stickmin. 

Next Year

Research has gone underway for next year as I got one fight done and another on the way. I won’t reveal who they are, but let’s say a feat was so unbelievable that basically decided everything.

Bakugou looked up from his gauntlets. Within half a second, the said explosion hero was bolting it towards the direction of the scream, ready to pulverize a bitch.

He threw open the door, fists already cracking explosions, carmine eyes frantically looking around the room. "What the fuck happened? Where's he at?"

You look up at him, from your crouched position on the floor. "What are you talking about?"

Bewildered, and still high off adrenaline, Bakugou asked, "I heard you scream. Who's ass do I have to pummel all the way down to hell?" He was heaving, but the explosions he had been creating had reduced significantly to the size of little sparks.

"Ohhhh, that-" You drawl out. Katsuki furrows his eyes. "It's nothing bad, I promise." Now he was getting pissed again. "It's just that I found this realy cute spider~"

Yeah, he was pissed.

"I nearly blew up this house 'cuz I thought you were getting your ass murdered in cold blood." He stepped closer.

"Uhhhh, hey Katsuki?" Your grin slowly fell into a frown as he took another step closer. "Katsuki?"

With the way he stalked over to you, it was basically natural instinct at this point to hold the spider close to your chest, as though such an act would save either of you.

Finally, he reached you and your new spider friend.

"I'm giving you five seconds to fucking run for your li-"

You didn't even need to hear the full sentence.

LEGEND OF FEI [2020] Gotta start with the obvious, because I'll recommend this drama forever even to everyone who has started and can't get into it, I'll always be like, please try again lol It's feminist, fun, feel-good but with very nicely done heavy moments every few episodes, important messages about life and about becoming who you want to be, it has my, at this point, favorite cdrama ship ever, yunfei my beloved!! relationship goals! friendships, funny dynamics, siblings, AMAZING characters and...so much more, I won't continue because I'll never stop lmao

UNEXPECTED [2018] Such an underrated Drama! I don't know why it's so underrated, especially because it's made by the same writer as a very popular drama (The Romance of Tiger and Rose) and the stories are very similar, which I know can be boring but they also have differences that make each drama unique, there's just the same premise of a writer traveling into their own story.

I'VE FALLEN FOR YOU [2020] The perfect rom-com historical drama, with a very fun plot and with plot twists you don't expect, such good characters and two amazing ships! Comfort drama for sure!

THE LOVE BY HYPNOTIC [2019] If you love palace romance, arranged marriage turned true love, a few crazy (but very entertaining) villains and a love story for the ages! Even though it has some very heavy moments, it's one of my comfort dramas as well, because it also includes some VERY FUNNY moments, like I just love dramas that can somehow balance comedy, romance and serious moments so well!

THE QUEEN OF ATTACK [2021] There's so many short dramas nowadays and 80% of them have the same plot of someone traveling into a story lol and yes, this is one of them BUT it's such a good drama like it's insane, I'll wish forever it was a normal length one, but it's still so good, the episodes are 9-10 mins each but there are two seasons, and the episodes have been combined, so eventually it's like having a normal drama with 12 normal length episodes (6 for s1 and 6 for s2). It's so worth it and the two actors are so talented and have such good chemistry, plus the story is unique too, yes this premise has been done many times but I think they still made it so unique and different from others.

THE STARRY LOVE [2023] A recent drama and quite popular, but I'll still recommend it always. Other than the last episode that was a bit disappointing and rushed (still a happy-ish ending though), it's my favorite Xianxia and it was just so good, the story, the cinematography, THE OST, the actors, the ships, the friendships, the sisters, ALL THE WOMEN, youqin literally making all other MLs take notes from him on how to be the best ml out there, so many reasons to watch this drama, just ignore the last part and pretend we saw what they forgot to show us lol

LOVE LIKE THE GALAXY [2022] Where do I even begin??? (This is the first Zhao Lusi drama i recommend in this list, but I just wanna mention, I recommend almost all of them.) Anyway, LLTG is by far my favorite political drama, and non wuxia/xianxia historical cdrama. It's so different and unique, there's literally nothing like it. It's a slow paced drama, with very long scenes (you might only have 3-4 scenes in one episode for example) and it's the reason why It got me a while to get to it, but now I'M SO IN LOVE WITH IT!!! There is not an episode I don't enjoy, it's pure art. Cheng Shao Shang is one of my favorite girls ever and her and Ling Buyi???? I'D DIE FOR THEIR LOVE. Their chemistry is so so so good, now Zhao Lusi can have chemistry with a tree, it's true but still, one of the best cdrama ships out there. Even though I never truly watched classic cdramas like Nirvana on Fire and those "older" ones, I think LLTG somehow is the closest to those except it also loves its characters and focuses on romance more than any older political cdrama did but it works so so well.

LIGHTER AND PRINCESS [2022] Favorite modern drama! I gotta be honest I'm not verrrryyyy into modern cdramas, I like a few, even love some, but generally it's hard to find a modern cdrama I'll go crazy over...but L&P changed that. Or well, it's still hard, maybe even harder now, to find something that tops it, but L&P is just so so good. Again, a quite popular drama, maybe it doesn't need the recommendation, but I have to mention it anyway 'cause it's my baby and I just cannot make a favorite cdramas list without it! Some reasons to watch: One of the best love stories out there, with such good angst and just everything you need on a ship, two main characters so unique that you'll definitely relate to (at least in some aspects), one of the best OSTS ever, perfect cinematography, directing and writing and one of my favorite endings on any show ever!
