reminder to myself and whoever else needs it to stop feeding the machine. I'm aware I'm yelling into the void but look at the past couple years of games. They're pushing $70, $80, $100!!! for games that are completely unfinished, unpolished, and sometimes completely unplayable. Yes the game showcases were cool. The doom game looks sick and I don't even go there, but they're shaking the shiny keys to distract you and get you swept up in the hype. They're going to push so much fomo marketing to get you to jump for it full price.

Wait for sales. Wait and buy a used copy. Hell, wait a couple days (even hours!!!) after launch and reviews and breakdowns will start coming out. Our game backlogs are already packed, and mr big AAA studio can deal with some of us waiting to see if they actually delivered what was promised.

my favorite scene in all of literature is when Neil Josten wakes up in Columbia after being drugged, hurls an alarm clock at Aaron, dumps his water on the floor and throws the cup at Aaron, stuff his clothes down the toilet and squeezes out through the window, has the foresight to call Matt from a pay phone to protect his shit, hitch hikes back to campus, eyes back to brown?? shows up on Wymack’s door like 😜 and reveals he could speak German the whole time?? CHARACTER OF ALL TIME, that is a protagonist who knows how MOVE THE MFING PLOT ALONG

I hate the argument that the player has a choice not to possess kris by just not playing the game. Like OKAY??? kris has an option to not be possessed by just not putting the soul back in but that would probably kill them. If you dont play the game then nothing progresses, only the soul can close dark fountains and kris probably needs the soul to live. Thats NOT OUR FAULT. We didnt choose to be causing kris distress just by existing. The soul/player has as little choice in the matter as kris does. Kris doesnt WANT the soul but they have to deal with it. We dont WANT to possess kris but we have to deal with it. To kris we are a puppeteer and to us kris is a cage. Neither of us are free.
