Gate Way to Success - Happy Krishna Janmashtami
We wish you and your family a Very Happy Krishna Janamashtami. Lets learn about Krishna Janmashtami & Lord Krishna on this pious occasion.
This year, there will be two days dedicated to the celebration. This is because Ashtami tithi will begin from noon on September 6 and will continue till 4:14 pm on September 7.
Other than this, the believers of Smarta tradition will observe the fast on September 6 and ISKCON followers will celebrate Krishna Janmashtami on September 7.
Krishna Janmashtami, also known simply as Krishnashtami, Janmashtami, or Gokulashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. In certain Hindu texts, such as the Gita Govinda, Krishna has been identified as supreme God and the source of all avatars. Krishna's birth is celebrated and observed on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) in Shravana Masa (according to the amanta tradition) or Bhadrapada Masa (according to the purnimanta tradition). This overlaps with August or September of the Gregorian calendar.
It is an important festival, particularly in the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism. The celebratory customs associated with Janmashtami include a celebration festival, reading and recitation of religious texts, dance and enactments of the life of Krishna according to the Bhagavata Purana, devotional singing till midnight (the time of Krishna's birth), and fasting (upavasa), amongst other things. It is widely celebrated across India and abroad.
The meaning of the sanskrit word "janmashtami" can be understood by splitting it into the two words, "janma" and "ashtami." The word "janma" means birth and the word "ashtami" means eight; thus, Krishna Janmashtami is the celebration of Krishna's birth on the eighth day of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) in the month of Bhadrapada (August–September).
Information about Krishna's life is noted in the Mahabharata, the Puranas, and Bhagavata Purana. Krishna is the eighth son of Devaki (mother) and Vasudeva (father). Surrounding the time of his birth, persecution was rampant, freedoms were being denied, and King Kamsa's life was threatened. Krishna was born within a prison in Mathura, India where his parents were constrained by his uncle, Kamsa. During Devaki's wedding, Kamsa was warned by a celestial voice that Devaki's eighth son would be the cause of his death. In an effort to defy this prophesy, Kamsa imprisoned Devaki and her husband and promptly killed the first six of her newborns after their birth. The guards responsible for keeping watch over Devaki's cell fell asleep and the cell doors were miraculously opened at the time of Krishna's birth. These events allowed Vasudeva to send Krishna across the Yamuna River to his foster parents, Yashoda (mother) and Nanda (father). This legend is celebrated on Janmashtami by people keeping fasts, singing devotional songs of love for Krishna, and keeping a vigil into the night.
Throughout Krishna's childhood and young adult life, Balarama, Krishna's half-brother, was a "constant companion" for him. Balarama joined Krishna in the major events that are celebrated in Vraja, Brindavan, Dravarka, and Mathura such as stealing butter, chasing calves, playing in the cow pens, and participating in wrestling matches.
In Jammu region, Janamashtami is popularly known by the name "Thogre/Thakure da Vrat" (meaning Vrat dedicated to Thakur i.e. Shri Krishna). Observing a Phalaahari Vrat for complete one day is the major ritual in the festival. The day is marked by numerous Phalaahari Dhaams or Bhandaras in the streets of Jammu region's prominent towns.
Janamashtami is celebrated as Zaram Satam (Janam Saptami) by the native Kashmiri Pandits of Kashmir. The festival is associated with observing a vrat the whole day and visiting the Thokur Kuth (Krishna Mandir) at midnight. At night, puja is performed in the temples which includes performing abhishek (ritual bath) to the murti of Krishna, and singing bhajans (devotional songs). Food items appropriate for fasting, such as gaer or singhada lapsi (made from waterchestnut flour), fruits, and dried fruits are consumed on this day.
Janmashtami is a national holiday in Bangladesh. On Janmashtami, a procession starts from Dhakeshwari Temple in Dhaka, the National Temple of Bangladesh, and then proceeds through the streets of Old Dhaka. The procession dates back to 1902, but was stopped in 1948. The procession was resumed in 1989.
Among the Malbars of the French island Réunion, a syncretism of Catholicism and Hinduism can develop. Janmashtami is considered to be the date of birth of Jesus Christ.
In Arizona, United States, Governor Janet Napolitano was the first American leader to greet a message on Janmashtami, while acknowledging ISKCON. The festival is also celebrated widely by Hindus in the Caribbean countries of Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Suriname. Many Hindus in these countries originate from Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; descendants of indentured immigrants from Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal, and Orissa. It is also celebrated by Hindus in South Africa.
ISKCON temples worldwide celebrate Krishna Janmashtami, as well the birthday of ISKCON founder-acharya A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, which falls on the following day according to the Vaishnava calendar.

Gate Way to Success: Happy Teacher's Day - 2023
In India, Teachers’ Day is observed on September 5 of every year. This day is celebrated as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society. It is the day on which Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born in the year 1888.
A teacher is considered the second most important person in a child’s life after parents. Teachers are given the place equivalent to a mother since they spend their whole life imparting education to students.
Teachers shape the future of the students. They take up the responsibility to educate the newer generations to build a better world. A great teacher instils a passion for knowledge and a heart to spread that knowledge for humanity. Teachers have the most important job as compared to any other occupation. They have the power to change the lives of many students through their teaching and thus impact society.

Gate Way to Success - ISRO Aditya L1 Suryayan Mission Launched
Even as Mission Chandrayaan-3 is sending some interesting information related to Moon every other day, ISRO's next mission, PSLV-C57/Aditya-L1 Mission, aimed at conducting research about Sun, is set to launch on Saturday (September 2, 2023). The 24-hour countdown of the sun mission has begun. In a tweet that Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) posted on Friday (September 1, 2023), it said, "The 23-hour 40-minute countdown leading to the launch at 11:50 Hrs. IST on September 2, 2023, has commended today at 12:10 Hrs."
On 02nd September, 2023 at 11:50 AM IST; ISRO successfully launched the Aditya L1 mission, marking another significant achievement after their recent Chandrayan 3 lunar expedition. The launch took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on the Eastern coast, and the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) had its longest flight, lasting approximately 63 minutes.
Aditya-L1 is a space-based observatory designed to study the Sun. After a 125-day journey covering about 1.5 million kilometres from Earth, the spacecraft will be positioned in a Halo orbit around Lagrangian point L1, which is the point closest to the Sun. Amongst its scientific objectives, the mission will capture images of the Sun for research purposes.
The mission's primary objectives include understanding Coronal Heating, Solar Wind Acceleration, the initiation of Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), near-earth space weather, and solar wind distribution. Aditya-L1 carries seven scientific payloads, including the Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC), which will capture images of the solar corona and CME dynamics, making it the largest and most technically challenging payload on the mission. Other instruments, such as the Solar Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope, Aditya Solar Wind Particle Experiment (ASPEX), Plasma Analyser Package for Aditya (PAPA), Solar Low Energy X-ray Spectrometer, High Energy L1 Orbiting X-ray Spectrometer (HEL1OS), and Magnetometer, will provide valuable data on various aspects of the Sun's behaviour.
All of the scientific payloads on Aditya-L1 have been developed within ISRO's research centres through close collaboration, showcasing India's expertise in space research and exploration.

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated to remember an ancient story from a Hindu scripture called The Mahabharata. Hinduism has many different gods and Raksha Bandhan is dedicated to a story about the god Krishna.
Krishna had a very strong bond with a woman called Draupadi. The story says that Krishna had hurt his finger and Draupadi cut a piece of her saree, a traditional Indian dress, to tie around his finger as a bandage.
Krishna then promised Draupadi to return the favour and help her when she needed it. When Draupadi was in trouble, Krishna came to save her and this why the festival is celebrated.
This year's celebration is on 30 August.
It usually takes place on the full moon in the month of Sravana, which is a month in the Hindu lunar calendar. This means that the festival is celebrated at the end of August.
The festival is celebrated differently in many different parts of India but usually the family gets together in their fancy clothes and they eat lots of delicious food and Indian sweets.
During the festival the sister ties a rakhi on her brother's wrist and the brother wishes that their sister is happy and healthy.

Gate Way to Success Institute celebrates India's Landing on the Moon
Chandrayaan-3 is the third Indian lunar exploration mission under the Indian Space Research Organisation's Chandrayaan programme. It consists of a lander named Vikram and a rover named Pragyan, similar to those of the Chandrayaan-2 mission.
Chandrayaan-3 made India the first country to successfully land near the Moon's south pole - a region that has piqued the interests of scientists due to its unique characteristics.
Scientists think that the region near Moon's south pole is home to ancient pockets of ice water that could be useful in future crewed missions and even settlements on Earth's only natural satellite.
The Chandrayaan-3 landed on the lunar surface on August 23 at 6.04 PM IST. The mission cemented India as an elite space nation and could unlock secrets about the Moon.

Gate Way To Success - Remembering Ustad Bismillah Khan
The world-famous shehnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan was born in Bihar on March 21, 1916. Born to a family of court musicians, Khan's musical journey started early in life with his uncle, Ali Bux 'Vilayatu', stepping in as his tutor in Varanasi.
Khan's music echoed from the ramparts of Red Fort in New Delhi on August 1947- the day India declared its independence from the 200-year-old British rule. He also performed on the country's first Republic Day ceremony on January 26, 1950.
Over the years, the music legend was heaped with prestigious awards and honours. Khan continues to be one of the few musicians to have received the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awards.
The versatile player whose music is considered to be a perfect blend of emotions and melody also played the shehnai for many Hindi films. 'Goonj Uthi Shehnai" is one such movie, wherein he is said to have immortalised the shehnai.
Khan is said to have shared a close bond with the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the Gandhi family. In fact, the music legend has performed on several occasions, acting upon the requests Nehru and his daughter, Indira Gandhi.
Khan is the man who introduced the world to the melody of Indian classical music and created a unique space for himself. However, it took him long to warm up to the idea of performing outside India, owing to his fear of flying.
On the occasion of the 102th birth anniversary of the shehnai maestro on March 21, music enthusiasts and artists from all over the world have come together to remember the man who said: "Even if the world ends, the music will still survive..."
