Basically, JMA is one of my OC's, which I have a lot of affection for, since she is my main OC, she is a hybrid half human, half axolotl (Because of some government experiments), who lives in a completely abandoned city with her axolotls (Which are like her friends or siblings), which are: Axolotl Marasia, Axolotl LunLun, Axolotl Moonie, Axolotl Cola, Axolotl TSB, Axolotl Mango, Axolotl Storm, Axolotl Aqua, Axolotl Hamlos, Axolotl Ratty, Axolotl Fan, Axolotl RMG, Axolotl Nova, Axolotl Lore, Axolotl Vapo, Axolotl Evan, Axolotl Neo, Axolotl Doodle, Axolotl Mikchi, Axolotl Ako, Axolotl Trick, Axolotl Floof, Axolotl Avery and Axolotl Camy!

Her story: For now, I haven't fully done her full Lore, so for now I can only tell you that she has been through a lot, thanks to the government's experiments, but for now she is trying to heal, however I have the first 2 chapters of her Lore right HERE (Part 1) and HERE (Part 2)!

She likes: Being in the abandoned city, spending time with her adoptive family, having adventures with axolotls, parkour, drawing and painting murals in the abandoned city, stuffed animals and seeing the stars/constellations with Constantine or Marek!

She hates: The government, the experiments, people telling her she's a monster, the government, lying people, bullying, the government, someone trying to hurt axolotls or her adoptive family, Xolotl... Did I mention she hates the government?

Feeling bold today, so I shall be unanonymous with this one

I feel like Clay could be interesting. We wouldn't know this as after the first book, we don't see his pov but...

Imagine all of your life. You're told that you're a monster. Someone destined to kill as that's you supposedly did when you were born and your guardians hit and scream at you both to vent stress and under the belief that you'll become the killing machine they thought you were meant to be, you eventually assume that eventually you'll become this killing machine, Afterall that's how you were when you first came out of the egg, but after time and time again you find that the monster in you never comes out, even in times you believe it will, after a while you realize that you never were a monster, kindness was in your heart the moment you've hatched, you can rest easy now! Or can you?

That brings me to my main point. It could be possible that Clay suffers from survivors guilt. He doesn't want to kill Fjord, but he dies anyway, and in the hidden kingdom, you can see him wincing when Glory mimics Fjord's color pallet. He finds out Asha died trying to bring his egg to the talons of peace, Crane despite having no way of preventing it was killed recently, and while he saves Starflight, Starflight is still badly injured in the process. Clay's personality traits after his pov are probably because in these fleeting moments of peace, he feels relieved, for a little while, he doesn't have to think about innocent dragons dying, despite this death and destruction still manage to come charging in to his life and finds himself failing everytime, afterall what's the point of not being a monster when he still can't protect the dragons in the war or even the dragons close to him and I think those thoughts culminate to what he did in the brightest night

After seeing all these dragons get hurt because of what he believes to be him, he sees what might be Starflight, Sunny and/or Fatespeaker about to be killed by the dragon bite viper, and he saves them sacrificing himself, he knows he's going to die but it's okay because he was able to save his family after all these thoughts of failing to save other dragons he was finally able to save someone, even if it meant he died in the process....

But hey, this is just a theory, a wof theory!

Became curious based on a Smaugust piece: What are your thoughts on everyone's favorite royal suck-up, Pike? (also ofc compliments to your writing and art)

Surprise, I am still kicking. And thus my Sisyphean quest to answer all the questions in my inbox continues.

I like Pike. I used to think moderately favorably of him, but pondering this question and then drawing a bunch of pictures of and about him made me realize that, yeah, I am rather fond of him. He is funny and cute in the same way a small, yappy dog is.

I remember once talking to my partner about Pike and I asked: "Do you think the JMA staff has to deal with Pike constantly trying to sleep in the hallway in front of Anemone's room?" Only to then realize, upon re-reading the books, that this actually happens in canon. I was thrilled.

Most of the time when people ask me what I think of a character, they want to hear what my take on them is, so I'll get into that.

Background

I don't think a lot is known about Pike's life, outside him having been assigned as Anemone's (questionably) covert bodyguard. He is one of those background characters that fill out the student roster at JMA but don't get a lot of development, though he is one of the more lucky ones as he gets comparatively more lines and scenes than, say, Barracuda, or Garnet.

We don't ever hear about his home life or familial situation, but I think he comes from a common military family. Not a particularly prestigious one, but rather one of middling significance. I imagine one of his ancestors--like his great grandmother--once made it to captain and ever since the whole family has prided themselves on their military legacy and loyalty to the Seawing throne, even though nobody else really knows who they are.

Pike's parents are both bottom rung palace guards; trusted enough to be stationed vaguely near the seat of government over a remote outpost, but nothing more. As is tradition in their family, they signed up as soon as they were old enough to hold a trident. Pike was expected to follow in their footsteps, and so did the same. He is naturally eager to please, doesn't ask many questions, and knows how to follow orders, so he took to this life relatively well.

One thing immediately apparent when observing Pike is that he is very blunt, headstrong, and reckless. He is prone to self-injury and mishaps, routinely making a tail end of himself during exercises. One day, I imagine, he was out in the courtyard, practicing his combat maneuvers, when he somehow managed to trap himself underneath a training dummy in a humiliating way. Unbeknownst to him, the Queen and Princess were walking past a window overlooking this scene, and the latter happened to spot him.

Princess Anemone, starved for normal social contact due to being permanently leashed to her overbearing mother, immediately took a liking to the clumsy guard and wished to take Pike into her service. The Queen though, hated the idea. Anything she couldn't control with 100% certainty was not to be let near her only living daughter. She didn't even let her own sons approach the Princess for this very reason. So she refused.

But Anemone, sensing an opportunity to finally snatch a tiny mote of control over her own life, didn't relent. She would never overtly defy her mother, but pushed back against her in the most passively aggressive way she could muster. She WOULD have this one thing that was hers, no matter how many times she had to sigh wistfully or forget to eat.

Coral meanwhile still disliked the idea, but after some pondering figured this could work to her advantage. Granting her daughter this favor would make her grateful, and thus easier to keep in check. It was not like the boy would be able to do anything undesirable since she would always be there to watch anyway. And if he ever displeased her, a random guard was easier to dispose of without turning heads, than if she let Anemone play with one of her brothers.

So eventually, she acquiesced, and extracted Pike from the palace guard to assign him to her daughter's protection.

The news hit Pike's family like lightning. Suddenly, after decades of being nobodies with delusions of grandeur, the whole palace was paying genuine attention to them, and the new recruit who, overnight, got assigned to be the Princess' personal retainer. Pike's parents took him aside and impressed on him how important of a task this was. If he did his job well and kept the Princess content and safe, not only would the current Queen think favorably of all of them, but Anemone would remember his service and reward him once she took the throne herself. For his sake and theirs, this was an opportunity not to be squandered.

And thus, Pike shouldered this great responsibility suddenly thrust onto his wings and embraced being Anemone's personal servant and protector. Pushed forward by his sense of honor and loyalty, a desire not to disappoint his family, and the knowledge that, if he were to fail and lose the only heir, Queen Coral would surely kill him.

Day-to-day life

Pike takes his duty very seriously, both out of loyalty to his liege, and because of how much is at stake for him personally. I picture him getting up during the small hours each morning and beginning his daily exercise routine, to stay in shape for his job. His roommate Flame often wakes up to him noisily doing squats in the middle of the sleeping cave and yells at him. "Am I cursed to be tormented by a diminutive idiot Seawing wherever I go!??!" Pike is lucky that his other roommate, Bigtail, is a heavy sleeper. Otherwise the training session would likely be cut short, with Pike tied to the ceiling lamp.

After wrecking Flame's sleep, Pike usually seeks out Anemone and attempts to stay near her at all times. Initially this caused friction between him and the teachers, as he would often skip his own classes to attend Anemone's. He only stopped doing this when Tsunami made it clear skipping classes would get him sent home, and thus away from Anemone permanently.

As they spent time at the Academy, the Princess began to get better and better at giving Pike the slip whenever she got fed up with his overprotectiveness. He freaks out whenever she vanishes, which is often. To help manage his stress, the JMA staff make him attend regular seminars on inner peace and meditation hosted by Fatespeaker. He is not very good at it, but enjoys the exercises that involve listening to running water.

He began to mellow out for a bit after initial growing pains, until the History cave incident occurred. The bombing shook him back into the bodyguard mindset and he began sleeping in the hallway outside of Anemone's sleeping cave. It weirds out Ostrich whenever she has to climb over him. Attempts to get him to stop this have been unfruitful. The current policy seems to be to let him do this until things calm down and he stops on his own.

Anything else

I believe Pike may have a thing for Rainwings. He is generally hyper-aggressive and rude towards everyone he talks to, with two notable exceptions. One of them is Anemone, whom he is sworn to serve and keep safe. The other is Tamarin, whom he is uncharacteristically kind to. My personal impression is that he may have a bit of a crush on her, but keeps himself from pursuing it as to not upset Anemone.

To my knowledge, Pike never really interacts with Turtle. That is a shame, because I would like to know how they would get along. Pike may be greatly disappointed at Turtle's general un-regal-ness, but still begrudgingly respect him out of obligation. I can picture a scene where he berates Turtle for his demeanor, only for someone else to chime in with an affirmative "Yeah Turtle, you suck", upon which Pike turns around and starts ripping into them about disrespecting Seawing royalty.

Concerningly, Pike's future is very uncertain. He is actually in grave danger right now. If Queen Coral ever finds out that he allowed a murderous, seawing-hating ancient wizard to abduct Anemone, she will have some opinions on that. If Coral has one consistent character trait, it is homicidal vengefulness against anyone who fails to protect her children, regardless of circumstance, regardless even if the perpetrator IS one of her children. That means there is a very real chance she will recall Pike from Jade Mountain and try to tear him apart.

I don't think Anemone would allow this to happen, mind you. She has been privy to her mother dragging poor sods out to the plaza to rip their teeth out, enough to recognize the signs of it coming. If she suspected Pike's life was in danger, I believe she would prevent him from leaving.

For now though, he remains at Jade Mountain, doing the best he can with the responsibility he was dealt, acting as Princess Anemone's retainer. It is a difficult, stressful, at times thankless job, but he would not have it any other way.

turtle never knows what to go as & always stresses out about it

burn doesn't participate in anything BUT decoration, which she goes all out for

blaze likes to give out candy but no one comes to the stronghold because the dragonets get too scared of burn's decor

scarlet throws really lavish parties each year (probably masquerades) burn's always forced to go & hates every second

a lot of nightwings & icewings dress up as darkstalker & he gets really mad over it

similarly a lot of seawings go as albatross; they're both urban legends (think bloody mary)

onyx is number 1 halloween enthusiast. shows up with a really detailed costume

(modern au) onyx also always has recommendations for what to watch; they're always really obscure horror movies that no one's heard of but they're all traumatized by

i guess the pyrrian equivalent of horror movies would be like. scary stories read aloud on scrolls? idk but onyx would bring a bunch

winter isn't that into halloween (didn't grow up celebrating it) but really enjoys pumpkin carving & usually wins in pumpkin carving contests

turtle gets scared everytime by those jumping spider animatronics without fail

clay is the undisputed champion at bobbing for apples

kinkajou eats like all of her candy in 1 night & always gets sick the next day

qibli will store his candy to "eat it for later" & then forgets about it for like a year

winter gets a little matching costume for bandit

moon dresses up but usually as something simple (like a witch maybe) & reuses it for following years

sunny loves to host halloween parties at jma, partially because she & the rest of the dod never got to celebrate it growing up

qibli & winter once got voted as "cutest couple costume" despite neither of their costumes having anything to do with the other's

glory the type to show up with a "this is my costume" t-shirt

Underrated WoF Characters + some rambling! ok ok, yeah, I saw the post @ravewing made about fav characters who deserve winglets, and i wanted to do it myself, so here! I'm gonna ramble about each of the characters a little bit as well because this is my blog and i absolutely can (also forgive me if i miss a few details here and there- its been a year or two since I've last read a book- let alone wings of fire- so bear with me!) Flame I think every wof fan can agree that flame really deserved better. He grew up away from his tribe, with only his mother (as far as we know) to teach him about skywing culture, who left her tribe to protect him from being drafted into the SkyWing army, only to be exploited by the NightWings, and he ends up getting seriously injured by Viper in her dying moments (who is another tragic character that I think is underrated) despite what his mother wanted for him. From what I recall, Avalanche does care deeply about him, and wants what's best for him, which is why she sent him to JMA, despite the fact he's rather miserable there. As for his current fate of being a healer in the Sky kingdom, I hope that it helps him heal his mental wounds, but also keeps his story open for a potential winglet/arc 4 appearance. Maybe him and Umber could work something out, I would love to see that. Also I kinda like the idea/theory that Vermillion is Flame's father, and Avalanche wanted to protect her son from crazy Queen Scarlet- they do look rather similar to each other. Freedom Oh Freedom. Poor, poor Freedom. Another tragic character like Flame. I do wish she got more screentime (pagetime?) because I love her so much. She has every right to hate the world after what her short life has been through, and it's sad that it's only in her final moments does she begin to understand compassion and kindness. I feel quite bad for her mother as well- having your daughter taken from you sparked deep maternal instincts in her, as seen when she rallied other dragons who were victims of the human's experiments and began the Scorching. I would love to see a winglet from her POV at the very start of her life, perhaps up until the events of book 15. She deserved so much better, and I need an AU where she gets re-incarnated or never had her egg stolen or SOMETHING. Greatness After Battlewinner's accident with an IceWing, Greatness sort of became a bit of a puppet- something which I think deeply impacted her self esteem, which could be why she views herself as unfit to be queen, although I do think she had the potential to be a good queen. She's shown to have mercy for Deathbringer, and she understands that Glory becoming Queen was- in that moment- what was best for her tribe's survival (However, I don't like the fact NightWings are ruled by Glory, and I think it was implied she would've just let them all die if they didn't accept her as queen?! I'm not really a Glory fan) She's also seen as being defiant and having courage, arguing with her mother, who she also seems to love and care for. I really wish she wasn't just cast aside after book 4, I think she's mentioned in books 5 and 6, and that's it. I really want more Greatness content, she's a wonderful character and genuinely has a very pretty design- one of the prettiest NightWings. I'd like to know what she's up to in the rainforest, and maybe a winglet focused on her and her mother (and battlewinner's icewing incident) could cover up some loose ends.

Cobra Lily I like Cobra Lily. There's really not much to it- she has a pretty and unique design, but I do think she's underrated. I like the implications she likes true crime, as mentioned in the guide book, and I think she's probably moved to Pyrrhia after the events of book 14 and 15, and she just straight up does not care that Nettle and Belladonna are under the control of the other mind. Maybe something with her sister and their potential new life on Pyrrhia would be nice, maybe teaching other dragons about LeafWing culture.

Ref for an au of Dia in a server I'm in called wings of war ! Instead of being separated from his brother and going to JMA [ this au is about 450 years before main timeline as far as I know ] , he and Vesper become spies for the rainwings . His shoulder scar comes from attacking a dragon who hurt Vesper during a failed mission , and getting himself firebreathed in the process .

13 people have shown interest in my WoF arc 1 rewrite so here are my thoughts for an arc 2 rewrite and I split this into two parts because this is already late

Moonwatcher

For Moonwatcher I’m playing with the idea of her being raised by the rainwings? Either she hatched before Secretkeeper could get to her and a rainwing found her or they found her after Secretkeeper left

But since that isn’t a solid idea yet I’m just going with her being raised in the rainforest by her mother

Moonwatcher’s earliest memories will be her alone in the rainforest tucked beneath some plants and watching a caterpillar crawl across her talons while wondering if the large dragon with a kind face would be back

Moon’s childhood will be something she has to grapple with throughout the story and she has to realize her mom wasn’t a good mom

Secretkeeper saved Moon from life on the volcano but at the same time she left a hatchling alone in a rainforest with tons of predators and no guarantee that Moon will still be there when she returns

Moon will either end up with Carnelian or Kinkajou or both depending on how the story goes but she deserves a girlfriend

She also looks EXACTLY like Morrowseer those Secretkeeper genes were fighting a losing battle because that baby is the carbon copy of her dad

She still has her green scales but her eyes are black like her dad’s she has his face, horns, and she is also very big for her age

The dod get war flashbacks when they see Moon for the first time because it’s just a mini Morrowseer

She knows who her dad is because it’s dumb she didn’t know who he was BUT she doesn’t know what happened to him the dod would get quiet when she asked and her mom just said he wasn’t coming back

So imagine this poor girl’s horror when she sees a petrified dragon that is IDENTICAL to her

Anyway onto her book

Her arc still revolves around secrets she keeps it a secret that she has powers it’s a secret what happened to her dad and now there is a secretive voice speaking to her in her head

She is immediately hit by the sound of a dragon speaking DIRECTLY to her when she enters JMA and for the first few days Moon will ignore it

She won’t learn who Darkstalker is until Peril’s book when she connects the dots and realizes this sensitive dragon who suspiciously gets bitter when Moon mentions icewings or his life is the nightmare dragon from icewing and Nightwing childhoods

Now onto Moon and her girls because I love them

Moon is so oblivious to Kinkajou and Carnelian’s feelings but she does show interest in them unlike the original love triangle

She will literally sit there hearing their thoughts of how badly they want to be with her and hear her voice and she’ll think “WOW my best friends are so pretty imagine if we could all live together for the rest of our lives and adopt dragonets!! How crazy would that be?”

She will curl up next to them to sleep and Kinkajou will be giggling and turning every color under the sun

Carnelian will just malfunction

She is a soldier at heart forgive her if she panics at the first sign of love and affection

NOW the actual book

The library explosion happens like usual but Carnelian survives with a missing leg, her horns shattered (which will be a big cause of insecurity because in Skywing society (mostly because of Scarlet) there are strict beauty standards and Carnelian believes she is hideous now), and she is mostly blind (completely blind in one eye and like 70% to 80% blind in the other

In this Moon knows that Sora did it she hears her guilty thoughts the next day but Sora is her friend and she wants to forgive her

It never made sense to me that Moon went from trying to bring a killer to justice in the sixth book to forgiving everything Darkstalker did in the tenth book

So in this Moon will have a few questionable morals she wants to be liked and she wants to protect her friends since she is basically an outcast to her tribe she wants to find a place in the world

And it scares her to think that Sora might hate her if she turns her in and then she gets so deep in the lie of trying to convince everyone it might be someone else that she’s scared everyone else will hate her

And it especially scares her that Carnelian might hate her Moon doesn’t even consider Carnelian when she first lies to protect Sora

She knows Carnelian is hurt and angry and wants revenge but she’s torn between one of her first friends and a dragon who has just started to warm up to her

Moon’s arc will focus around her questionable morals and the dragons around her and her own self image she will be desperate to be accepted into her tribe and be normal and Darkstalker will be the one who integrates her into Nightwing society but in the process he will manipulate her mind the way he did to Clearsight

Winter

Winter won’t hate nightwings as much as he does in the original he still hates them because of Scarlet’s arena but he won’t go out of his way to be nasty

Instead this boy hates SKYWINGS because Scarlet’s troops took his brother so Winter and Carnelian are constantly butting heads

In their minds it’s serious terrifying fights but to everyone else they look like to kids in a slapping fight

Winter grew up with everything planned out for him he even had a betrothed picked out from the moment he was able to say his own name (it’s Lynx)

But Winter gets a pit in his stomach when he thinks about this life he absolutely hates it

Winter will sort of reflect Arctic both are icewing prince’s with their lives planned out for them and they both want a different life

As a kid Winter would dream about being a swashbuckling pirate or a treasure hunter or live some kind of cool adventurous life

He never understood why he always seemed drawn towards the other boys his age rather than his own betrothed

Sure he liked Lynx and she was nice but he kept staring at her and wondering what she would look like if she looked more like the other boys in their classes

So Winter makes it to Jade Mountain a little bitter about his life so far and he sticks by his sister’s side with a scowl on his face

Then he’s roomed with a sandwing who always has a dumb smirk and can never seem to leave Winter alone

And then Winter starts daydreaming about a life in the desert which immediately disgusts him because the desert would be so hot and unbearable

But then again maybe it won’t be since he doesn’t seem to mind when Qibli lazily wraps a wings round his shoulders or leans in close to his face and calls him “prince winter”

Life was finally good for him he was making friends and getting good grades

And then his sister ruins it by attempting to kill the teachers

In this rewrite Icicle will be desperate to protect both of her brothers so she keeps Scarlet a secret from Winter

Her parents groomed her to be queen and she knows that being queen means she has to protect her tribe and her brothers especially

She snaps at Winter and tries to push him away for his own safety and he just doesn’t understand

The book mostly stays the same and the Pyrite/Hailstorm thing will definitely stay the same

I might change the epilogue so it’s from hailstorm’s pov and it might just be his internal war of Pyrite and Hailstorm fighting constantly and how he feels like a shell of his former self

Peril

Peril’s theme song would be Waiting in the Wings Reprise from Tangled the Series

She grew up believing Scarlet loved her and she was taken into her home and loving arms but as she grew up she realized she was groomed to be loyal to Scarlet and believe no one else could love her

Then she meets a mudwing chained up and held prisoner and at first he mopes and won’t talk but when he does she realizes she found someone just like her

Someone who understands how soul crushing it is to let down someone who depends on you

But as she talks to Clay she realizes they are different very different because when Clay messes up his siblings curl up beside him at night and rest their snouts against his shoulder and tell him he did nothing wrong

Peril never felt that love before and she feels jealous she feels gross because she wants what Clay has

Then she shows up to Jade Mountain Academy and Clay greets here with a giant sweet handsome smile

And she meets other dragons she meets Moonwatcher who laughs at her violent thoughts instead of judging her or acting scared and Turtle who is perfectly fine just sitting and being in her company

She feels wanted like people actually enjoy her company

Leaving JMA with Turtle and ending up in sanctuary is the same

So when she meets her dad and is given an enchanted necklace that gets rid of her fire scales she thinks her life is complete and she finally has what Clay got

But she starts noticing things the way her dad stared at her as if judging her when she got excited and shouted

He didn’t smile in laugh like Moon and he didn’t feel fine sitting in silence with her like Turtle and he definitely didn’t greet her with a giant smile and yell her name like she made his entire day better like Clay did

Then she meets Prince Cliff and listens to the little dragonet ramble about his mom and how she loves him and all the things he does and she just cries

Her tears immediately evaporate but she can’t stop she knows she’ll never feel the parental love Cliff gets to feel every day and how is that fair to her? Why doesn’t she get to be loved like that?

Cliff escapes when she’s crying and then the fight between Ruby and Scarlet starts and Peril isn’t allowed to step in and kill Scarlet

But Scarlet realizes that her victims have grown and she doesn’t hold any power over them she can’t control them anymore and she tries to flee but Peril is there standing silent and looking at the ex-Queen with a blank stare daring her to move

Ruby kills Scarlet and Peril leaves during the party with Turtle and when the group rests she is visited by Clay in her dreams using the dream visitor

Her dreams aren’t haunted by Scarlet anymore instead she is sitting on a cliff in the sky kingdom she always liked that particular cliff because it had nothing flammable

Clay is beside her and she tells him she feels guilty because sometimes she would wish she never left Scarlet and she could still live in denial

And Clay wraps a wing around her she can’t hurt him in her dreams and they take full advantage of that

Then Peril confesses her voice is quiet and unsure and she is looking down at the sky kingdom

And all Clay says in response is “aren’t we already dating?”

And Peril just stares at him blankly

So far the rest stays the same but I might change it idk anyway Darkstalker comes back

This was so late so I’m going Turtle, Qibli, Kinkajou, and Carnelian when I have more energy but I’ll also probably do a Darkstalker legends rewrite because I have so many thoughts

Alright fellas Ice hybrids go!

Cotton a Mud/Ice hybrid (named before I realised what environment cotton grows in but I'm in too deep to change it now). A rather imposing figure, Cotton doesn't talk much and others don't really talk to him. He works as a guard in the Skywing Palace (Upon personal request of one Swallowtail) being the only none Skywing (or Sky hybrid) to be a guard in the palace. He's engaged to Swallowtail and Alpine wearing their feathers to show it. (Swallowtail and Alpine wear a horn band with Sapphires to represent Cotton). The three of them met during a time of uncertainty for hybrids in Pyrriha, they bonded and have stuck together ever since.

Evening and Fox sand/Ice siblings (ignore the fact Evening is not a Sand or Ice name once again I am in to deep to change it, also I made Fox a bit more chonky then he originally was but I love it) Evening is several years older then Fox, they don't have a close relationship but at most they do care for each other. Evening teaches the history of the Sand and Ice kingdom at the school in their hometown.

Fox participates in illegal fights at the Scorpion Den, he's currently dating Hydra after she beat his ass in a fight, they get along really well.

Reflection a Hive/Ice hybrid and husband of Tulang. Reflection has memory loss often relying on writing down what happens in a day as well as what others tell him. This has caused mild amounts of paranoia as he has no way of telling if what their saying is true unless he deemed it important enough to write down.

Illusion and Hare a pair of Night/Ice hybrids living in an Ice kingdom village called Where-the-colours-collied, a village not to far from where the remains of the Great Ice Cliff used to be. The village is full of dragons from different tribes and hybrids (The Populis is still mostly Icewings and Ice hybrids). Hare and Illusion don't stand out but they are the only Night/Ice hybrids in the village. Illusion goes to JMA. Most of the students and teachers believe he's Black with White stripes, only a few dragons know that his scales change colour, his boyfriend Starfall is one of them.

So firstly, I changed Hares colours because her original colours where picked from an OC that belonged to one of my old friends. I'm no longer friends with them and didn't like how the colours looked, her new colours are picked from Auroura pictures. Hare was born under an Auroura but doesn't have any powers, instead she uses the old old way and uses the stars to predicted events, most think this is unreliable but they shut up real quick when she gives them a wack.

Finally Lupine another Mud/Ice hybrid with no relation to Cotton. Lupine lives in the unnamed Village where all vanish, he was running from an arranged marriage with a Mudwing noble. He is now happily married to Sparkling, Fir and Vampire wearing one of Vampire bats feathers as a show of this. Lupine provides entertainment for Sparkling's bar have an almost angelic singing voice.

I'm really proud of how these guys look now that I'm more confident in drawing Icewings, I'm extra proud of Cotton and Lupine look now. I also really like Hares new colour pallet I think it's more pleasing to look at then her old one.

Imma start working on the next batch soon since I got a new note book now.

The DoD would totally play rpgs growing up, I know realistically it would be Webs to tea h them about it, but young Dune totally would have played during his warrior fantasies, and later with Six-Ckaws in both the army and with the Outclaws. So I'd like to imagine that, when the DoD took interest in one of the scrolls Webs brought back (a how to play guide the older seawing prolly didn't think much of), Dune gruffly but reasonably encouraged them to try it out.

Tsunami would be the DM, but would probably keep getting into arguments with Glory and Starflight. Clay would just want to keep the peace, but he'd have a hard enough time figuring out the game. I think Sunny is very into it, but nobody listens to her, so Starflight ends up echoing her sentiments to keep the game moving. All in all, the DoD probably all get pretty into it, Glory probably lounged nearby during the session 0, watching but pretending not to care, until she quietly joined in the first session, with enough confidence that nobody openly questioned it when she described an intricatly fleshed out edgelord character (think full tween deviantart oc). Starflight was a rules lawyer, but they loved him and if it ever got bad someone would pounce on him and they would keep going. Already touched on Clay and Sunny, but Tsunami probably tried to make everything cool, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse when she did a bit too much railroading (She definitely sneaks the plot of the Missing Princess in there). Dune encouraged the DoD to stay with the game, waiting until any fights cooled down before suggesting they try again. There was no overarching story to the 'campaign', but the DoD were young and it was just something fun to do.

Later in life, Sunny decides to try and run a campaign for some students in Jade Mountain. She probably runs a couple different games for different students (at least one of them tries to involve Stonemover, but he's too sad for it), but the one we care about has Kinkajou, who dragged along Moon. Qibli of course came with her. Kinkajou also invited Tamarin, which means Anemone is there, too. Pike tried to follow, but he strikes me as the kind of dragon who thinks dnd is Satan worship, and won't get close.

Thanks to her character development, Sunny is actually a great GM, she's got Thorn's knack for people by this time, and it really helps in this situation. This table is actually pretty awesome. Kinkajou hypes everyone up and keeps them all confident in their choices, Moon is a good mediator of course, and Qibli is a delightful person to play alongside. Anemone sometimes struggles with being the bad kind of power gamer, but she's trying to be better and the group is very understanding. Tamarin maybe doesn't speak too much, but true to life when she does it's deeply impactful. This group does a lot of therapy thanks to Sunny running it, and other than Qibli and Anemone skirting the line, it's very family friendly.

Another JMA group is actually run by Turtle! He's a little nervous to commit to it, but Peril has always wanted to play and convinces him to run a oneshot after Clay talks about playing with his friends. She thinks Clay would like her more if she also understood the game (not knowing he never did), and Turtle used to play with his brothers in huge group games. They end up running drop in oneshots, but most dragons are pretty scared to play with Peril, save for a few. It ends up being very healthy for them, as it helps quiet Turtle branch out, and dangerous Peril get closer to other students. The funniest one is Pike, who as I said before thinks this game is evil. He thinks he is infiltrating the villainous practice to see if it is dangerous to Anemone, but ends up absolutely loving it, in secret of course. The trio ends up playing together more and more often as a way to get better at people together, and Pike becomes much less insufferable. These three get REALLY intense with rp, and eventually welcome a curious and dumbfounded Winter, who wants to learn after hearing about Moon and Qibli's group. These players should hate each other in one way or another, but they have a fun time being really aggressive and intense, and despite feeling intimidated, Turtle has a great time with such a heavy rp game.

Also, somehow through Winter the group ends up hosting a game with Linx and Snowfall, which is a crazy day.

People stating that Sora is less sympathetic and/or is worser than Icicle and - God Forbid - stating that Sora only wanted to kill Icicle in order to take revenge of Icicle for killing Sora’s sister, Crane, honestly makes me feel the urge to rip my hair out.

Sora (unlike Icicle) grew up in a kingdom where dragons from other tribes are able to invade and then attack and kill dragons living within their homes. Her own sister was murdered by Icicle only a couple MONTHS ago when she joined the JMA. Sora is also the closest dragon who shows symptoms of having PTSD, due to the flashbacks she’s shown to experience from the war within Moon Rising.

Due to Sora’s trauma from Icicle killing her sister, she was fearful paranoid her own safety around Icicle, despite the fact that weren’t fighting in the war anyone.

Because of this, when Icicle mentioned in her sleep that “killing is easy enough”, Sora believed that Icicle would be the type of dragon to continue ending other’s lives with her own claws, regardless that the war ended or not. Which made Sora believe that Icicle wouldn’t just kill her sister, but multiple other dragons within the Jade Mountain Academy too. Sora didn’t just kill Icicle to get revenge on her for killing Crane. She did it in order to protect other dragons from being killed by her too.

Like- I’m not making it up nor even exaggerating this part of Sora’s character, this is literally stated in canon.

“Our very first night here, when I still wasn't sure — I was almost sure it was [Icicle], but I thought I must be mad, and I couldn't let myself sleep because what if she did the same thing to me that she did to Crane? And then in her sleep, she muttered, 'Killing is easy enough.' ❗️That's when I knew. She's a murderer and she won't stop until someone does what I failed to do.❗️

Of course, you could say “But that’s stupid for Sora to think! Icicle didn’t kill Crane because Icicle’s a bloodthirsty murder, it’s because they were fighting in a WAR!”

And while that’s true, here’s the thing: Trauma isn’t (always) logical nor rational.

Fear isn’t an emotion people experience from logic and reasoning.

Let alone for someone having PTSD from a War and living around the very person you saw murder one of your closest family members.

Expecting someone, specifically an Traumatized teenage ex-soldier who only JUST turned 18 - who only recently stopped fighting in a war & only recently clearly saw her sister being murdered - to think rationally towards the person (let alone their PoV) who murdered her sister, is honestly quite illogical and even unreasonable to expect from Sora and her character.

Does this make Sora’s actions excusable and/or justifiable, especially since she didn’t mean to harm any other dragons while attempting to kill Icicle?

HECK NO! It does NOT excuse nor justify literally bombing a room of a school, and attempting to commit literal murder.

Sora’s grief and trauma explains Sora’s motives and actions, and makes her PoV understandable and even sympathetic, but does NOT excuse and/or justify her actions and choices at ALL, what-so-ever - this is true about ICICLE’S character as well.

Then does this mean that Icicle is worser and/or less sympathetic than Sora? HECK NO to that too!!

Icicle was being manipulated by Queen Scarlet, who stated to Icicle that if she didn't kill the DoD, that her brother, Hailstorm - who Scarlet knows the whereabouts of - will DIE, resulting in Icicle to be forced into making the decision of killing multiple of her teachers and a Queen (who she doesn’t know very well) and her brother who she believed was dead for literal YEARS.

And Icicle not caring about killing others is due to her being raised as a literal child soldier throughout her life, being made to repeatedly harm and kill others out on the battlefield.

Sora and Icicle are BOTH morally-gray ex-child soldiers who've been traumatized by the war, who are both sympathetic or at least understandable characters who commit awful and/or immoral actions out of the fear and trauma of losing someone that they love.

So stating that EITHER ONE OF THEM is “less sympathetic” and/or “is worser than the other” honestly feels quite icky and/or irritating to me.

Arc 4 & The Hybrid Prince Bingo Cards (first drafts)

With the reveal of the title of book 16, I made 2 bingo cards of my predictions and hopes for the 4th arc and also The Hybrid Prince specifically. This is something I did back before book 15 came out and I had very few correct.

These are only first drafts as this next weekend is the first fanwing fest where we'll likely learn the protagonist and get to hear something from book 16 (which please please please if someone is going PLEASE record it and transcribe it word for word I need a word for word transcription PLEASE). After that, I'll probably update them because having a bingo sheet you know for sure is wrong beforehand kinda sucks.

Arc 4

I think arc 4 is interesting because we really have no idea what it could be about, unlike arc 2 which had JMA set up in the epilogue, and arc 3 which had Pantala set up in the final epilogue. My personal bet of the protagonists with the tribes I guessed are Umber, the runty SkyWing from the brightest night or Cliff, Firefly or Peacemaker, Auklet, and Mink.

The Hybrid Prince

Since we know very little, this is just my personal hopes or predictions based off of things I think would be interesting or possible. Once we hear an excerpt and know the protagonists, I think this one will be updated quite a bit.

AAAGH, I LOVE MOONELIEN!!!!!!!!!! I ship Moonelian mostly a qpr. I rotate them in my brain a lot because hffhjdj they would help each other in so many, and not only would they help each other but they would gen like each other. And (to me at least) it's easy to imagine both chataracters' thoughts and feelings develop for each other.

In the beginning, Carnelian does not want to talk to anybody or to be at jma, but after loosening up thanks to Umber, then she'd stop actively trying to stay away from dragons as much. She'd still not be around them as much. It would take her a long time. And once Carnelian, not by choice, (Kinkajou never leaves her alone, and Moon is just there because of Kinkajou) starts talking with her clawmates, that's when she starts to truly realize that atleast some of her wingelt is okay to be around. Then Kinkajou, Moon n Carnelian become friends happily ever after!!! I think Moonwatcher would be curious about Carnelian, considering Moon knows about Carnelian and Peril possibly having some sort of friendship back in the sky kingdom. Moon would probably avoid Carnelian a bit since her mind is so aggressive, and so is Carnelian herself, but the Moon would probably try pushing herself to talk to Carnelian because 1) Kinkajou is trying to make their Winglet one giant happy friend group . 2) Secretkeeper would want Moon to push herself to make more friends. Once Carnelian stops actively avoiding everyone, then Moon gets the chance to talk with Carnelian. Talking to quiet and tolerant Moonwatcher is definitely a break from hearing hyper and idyllic Kinkajou, so I think not only Carnelian would appreciate it, but so would Moon.

I like to imagine that Carnelian is impressed by Moon a lot of the times, considering the amount of nightwing hate, like how they can't hunt, has been implanted into her brain. So whenever Carnelian goes hunting, she might hint for Moonwatcher to join her or bring Moonwatcher a snippet of her meal. I also like to think that Carnelian does not know much about her own tribes culture, only knowing little from her battalion because of the war. As well as what I feel like was implied of Carnelians character, being an outcast. So Moon does a little bit of reading and learns more about skywings out of boredom. Maybe she finds out about a holiday and asks Carnelian if she enjoyed it or planned to ask to go back to the kingdom to celebrate it. Carnelian would stare at her like, "What r u talking about." Moon gets it approved by Tsuanmi to celebrate at Jma and Carnelian gets a taste of skywing life outside of the military, with some other tribes tossed in.

I'm sure I have more to ramble about but ty fir the ask!!!! Also, I've never really thought of myself as intimidating, so that was smth to read lol /pos. No need to apologize for it!! But it's okay to approach me with my thoughts on things, especially if it's about Moonelian.

After book 5, Tsunami comes back to the Kingdom of the Sea to talk to her mother. Coral accidentally lets it slip that Lagoon (the butler, not the queen lmao) is still in the dungeons. Tsunami demands that she’s released and, once she is, Lagoon rightfully flees the palace because. What the sigma bruh why did she trap her in there for no reason.

She ends up in the rainforest and comes across Mastermind’s little makeshift quicksand trap thing. They talk and he’s like “noo nooo I deserve it…” and she says “Heh…. ermmm actually I know a thing or two about being trapped and deserving it..!”

and then she becomes his evil henchman or whatever and they’re T4T cuz i said so

ok ok on a lighter note, this one is another of my favs!!

SO!!!!! after book 15, JMA opens again with more slots available for the newly inhabiting tribes. Sky and Tau join the Silver Winglet with Boto. Sky and Boto lowkey hit it off and start hanging out when they can.

When Anemone is sent back to the school, her mom sends her with a BUNCHH of her best selling scrolls or whatever to hand out. but,, she would rather DIE than do that so she just shoved them on their cave’s bookshelf and calls it a day.

Boto sees the pretty gold-bound scrolls and is like “we HAVE to read one of these” and then finds out that Sky also, in fact, cannot read. They start trying to figure out who could read the scroll for them, and Tau overhears, offering to read it for them. The scroll they read is the one about Droplet that was mentioned that one time.

When they read it, they all end up actually really liking it. They find that there’s a few more spin-offs/series installments in the pile and decide they’ll start a little book/fan club after their classes and such.

Eventually they get, like, suuuper into the series and they all lowkey start crushing on Droplet like omggg teehee he my favorite character. and then they all start selfshipping with him communally. that’s it that’s all that happens

On his break, Grasshopper stops by The Sugar Dream. He tends to be chatty with other HiveWings, (NOT SilkWings. He is racist.) so he talks with Chafer a lot. At first, Chafer kept the talk light and brushed him off. But, as Grasshopper became more of a regular, their talks became longer. Grasshopper would stay to eat his sweets in the shop instead of taking it to go and would start accidentally holding up the line.

Eventually, once they’ve been talking and hanging out for a few months, Grasshopper waits until he’s the last customer to ask Chafer. The both of them know they shouldn’t be doing it; they’d be going against Queen Wasp to date without permission. But, alas, the yaoi was too strong and they both kissed and lived happily ever after or soemthing.
