share ur bonus interesting night music video findings/rambles/analysis NOW!!!!!!!!!!!(please and also thank u:])
HIII JAGGY o/ honestly I could probably ramble about Night forever so... :} works out for me!
a lot of this are going to be things I've already mentioned on this blog, but they're pretty scrambled around so I might just make this a big post for all of it... consider this a 'nearly beat for beat Night analysis plus some other things and details' masterpost. not much of a lyrical analysis though because I'm not good at it lol. (also putting this all under the cut. thumbs up)
so, for starters... well, I'm not starting off with Night! nope! we're starting off with Spring and a Storm (now imagine a big arrow pointing towards me that says 'person that can't stop mentioning SaaS/StaaS at any given opportunity')
and the reason I'm bringing up Spring and a Storm first is due to the ending lines, which lead up to Night:
Tumblr media
now, I'm aware that Spring and a Storm was the very first Tally Hall cover that Chonny made, and thus was made waaay before there was an overarching story planned for it. but ☝ I do think CJ placing it right before Night in the final album (and assigning it to Soul, of all three... four? of them) is immensely relevant. in SaaS we get shown Soul's outright optimism/idealism despite his circumstances, and, while this is my own interpretation (which could very well be wrong!), I do think these lines are meant to be directed towards Heart and Mind specifically
Tumblr media
and, this has never been confirmed since once again, this cover was made way before there was a story, but the final lines do sound an awful lot like Heart and Mind, don't they?
personally I think this is why CJ placed SaaS right before Night – it truly is the perfect lead-up to it. Heart and Mind singing the final lines almost feels like a call and response to Soul's beginning lines. they tried to sing once, about spring and a storm...
but we know how it goes.
[here's where I actually talk about Night lol]
now Night... it honestly may be my favorite CCCC MV out of all of them. I said so in that other post, but there's so much detail in every single scene. you can really tell that just about everything was planned out.
the MV itself starts off with Soul/potentially Whole arriving at the scene. it's interesting, actually – if we assume the silhouette is the same silhouette as the one that's in the latter half of Night, then that's definitely Whole, which would make sense as we properly see Heart, Mind and Soul arriving to the scene later. yet, all his lines are transcribed as Soul's, so... eh? I'll leave that in the air
I do interpret this beginning section as Soul guiding Heart into harmonizing with Mind. Heart's line, 'open the window, look out and see me' fades into Mind's voice, at this point, when he sings 'slow, I am coming a long way to be' the environment turns into a bright white.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like both of these shots a lot. here we see that Mind and Heart are already feeling their respective pains (headache and heartache). but another detail is that Mind's holding up his left hand while Heart is holding up his right – which correspond to Soul's own nail color (black on the left, white on the right)
as Soul sings 'such as I am mother's only son', we see what seems to be an ultrasound scan overlaid on top of Soul / Whole. honestly, it's so hard to see that I'm still not 99% sure that's what it is even with the brightness turned up + more contrast, but I don't really know what else it could be. it's only present through this specific line too.
Tumblr media
(this is such a typical 'blink and you miss it' CCCC detail that I can't help but love it. there's a few more like these scattered throughout some of the other MVs and each one makes me go like WHAT!!! HUH!!!)
now comes another detail that's honestly so hard to see in the video itself, but it feels really really important, and that is the fact that Heart does not have a blindfold on in this scene
Tumblr media
(Ever is the light on.) [Is the light on ever meant to run?]
right after we see a door starting to open, in a bright environment. afterwards we see Heart puts on his blindfold
Tumblr media
we go back to the shot with the door, except the environment is now dark. the door keeps opening, revealing Mind at the other side. worth mentioning that the only bright spot on the screen is right where Mind appears
Tumblr media
[Cold, but I’m outside and waiting to see] (a glow in the snow, coming closer to me.)
this whole imagery with the door is important, due to both the incoming lines and another reason I'll bring up later, so remember this detail. after the chorus, we get a section with only Soul.
{Better when the light comes in the night-time, opening the door. Hoping to be right, it’s open every night, so what’cha waiting for?}
Soul is inviting Heart and Mind to harmonize, guiding them and giving them the space to connect with eachother. however. as we saw, they don't want to see eye to eye with eachother. or rather, they can't – not at this point of the cycle, at least. there's a tension there that's still unresolved, made evident by Heart's avoidance of Mind
and then comes the tines line:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've explained in my other post what I think the line means, so I won't repeat it here. (also because I'm lazy lol). but I do think this shot itself is interesting. we see Soul alone throughout this entire verse, only going back to Heart and Mind during this line. and they're both clearly in pain; Mind with his constant headache and Heart with his chest pain. they're also not looking at eachother, with a clear split between them, Mind's environment being brighter and Heart's environment being darker. it's clear they're not on equal grounds here
here we get the second chorus again, but there's a clear difference. Heart and Soul start this line off singing together, but at the very end it's just Soul singing
{I want to see your) eyes, looking back and out through mine.}
here, Soul takes a pause right before the last word, there's a just barely audible sigh, and then sings 'mine,' alone. to me, this is the moment that Soul realizes that this isn't going to be possible, at least not in the state that things are in.
(Something is real.) {Maybe not.} {(Something is gone.)} (Something is here.) [Only thought.] {(What do you want?)}
I won't say much about these lyrics, as they're admittedly hard to parse for me as to what they mean exactly. (though it does feel like this is the point where Soul's given up on his initial task). I do think that it's notable how this is the only instance I can think of where Soul directly talks towards only Mind.
the continuing line is this:
{([Everything else will fade away.])}
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
as this line plays, we see Soul, Heart, Mind*, and we see Whole, and then
the video reverses, and keeps reversing up until the point where the door is closed again, Heart puts on the blindfold.
to me, what this means is that all of the progress made through the song, the attempt made by the three to see eachother's point of view, to harmonize, is now undone. they're now back at square one.
*one little detail about this part is that both Soul and Heart are looking downwards, while Mind is looking straight-ahead at the camera... which could mean nothing /ref
Tumblr media
as the final chorus plays, there's a different, darker static filter over their shared screen. they're all singing together until the very end, where only Soul remains singing. the lyrics change too, from 'looking back and out through mine', to 'looking back and into mine'
... and then we fade into Ruler of Everything. *stock sfx of children cheering*
considering how both Spring and a Storm and Ruler of Everything were covered before there was a story planned, the fact that CJ chose Night to bridge them together works perfectly IMO. we go from 'some semblance of peace' to 'an attempt an harmony' to 'nevermind shit has hit the fan'
I could in theory talk about Light as well, but I don't have a whole lot to say about it compared to Night, as it doesn't have as many minute details that Night does (none that I've noticed, at least). I imagine it's due to the lyrics being far more straight forward to the CCCC lore, since Night is more of a 'faithful' cover compared to Light (which was very much intentional, IIRC)
so yeah. that's my Night analysis, kind of 👍 I didn't proof-read this post as much as I did the other so I may edit this post later if I notice a glaring issue later on or want to reword anything or something. little carbonation and I'll see you next time, later /ref

Crooks May Have Had Accomplice, Data Show, as Investigators Say FBI is Suppressing Info
Tumblr media
From the NY Post:
Sources told The Post the FBI has obstructed efforts to solve the mystery of why Thomas Matthew Crooks, who left no manifesto, did what he did. It’s left local law enforcement as well as Crooks’ former friends, classmates and teachers frustrated. A veteran private investigator from Erie, Pa., who was hired shortly after the fateful July 13 event at the Butler rally to look into Crooks by a private client, told The Post he believes a “criminal network” was operating with him at the time of the assassination attempt, is still in existence and still wants to kill President Trump. Doug Hagmann, whose team of six other investigators have been working the case for months and have interviewed more than 100 people, said they also conducted extensive geofencing analysis of cellphones and tablets not belonging to Crooks that were found with him at his home, at the rifle range where he took target practice, at the rally and at Bethel Park High School, where he graduated in 2022. “We don’t think he acted alone,” Hagmann told The Post. “This took a lot of coordination. In my view, Crooks was handled by more than one individual and he was used for this [assassination attempt]. And I wouldn’t preclude the possibility that there were people at the rally itself helping him.” Hagmann said one of the electronic devices geolocated with Crooks at several different places at the time of the shooting is still pinging today — at Bethel Park High School... Hagmann said he was personally escorted to the Butler County line and told to leave twice during the course of his team’s investigation. The people who did so were either federal agents or some type of private security... Congressman Higgins (R) thinks Crooks must have been on some sort of prescription drug that made him, in Higgins’ words, “go crazy.” But the Pittsburgh County medical examiner, strangely, did not perform toxicological tests for pharmaceuticals — or at least did not include them in the autopsy report. Even more oddly, Crooks’ body was released to his parents eight days after the shooting without most officials involved the investigation knowing — and was promptly cremated. “Something happened to make him go crazy and that’s why I think it might have been pharmaceuticals. He performed an attempted assassination and he was committed all the way through — to death. He was not acting erratic but he was a wild lunatic at the same time, incredibly calculating and incredibly smart.” Crooks was a gifted student with nearly straight As all through high school and college. He scored a total of 1530 out of a possible 1600 score on his SATs, according to records. “I don’t think he set out to kill the president,” Harmon said. “My guess is, he messed with the wrong individuals about what they were going to do and it was different from what he thought it was going to be. Anyone planning to do this would leave some sort of breadcrumbs. But there’s nothing — no paperwork, no itinerary, no even [him] going to websites to [research].” Some believe Crooks was radicalized while at Community College of Allegheny County, but his academic adviser Todd Landree doubts it. He remembers Crooks as being smart and being impressed with one of his assignments, a chess project he printed out in 3-D so blind people could play chess, which he said was “fantastic.”

Artist Management Class
This month’s Product and Artist Management course has been an enlightening journey, especially for someone like me who is both a student and an active professional in the music industry. Going into this course, my primary goal was to understand what it truly means to manage an artist, not just from the creative side, but from the business, strategic, and operational aspects as well. What I found exceeded those expectations.
One of the most impactful lessons for me was the realities of the artist-manager relationship. It’s one thing to hear about management in a theoretical sense, but it’s another to see how complex, nuanced, and multifaceted that relationship truly is. This course gave real-world scenarios that showed me how deeply a manager must understand both the personal and business needs of an artist. It’s not just about scheduling gigs and boosting exposure, it’s about long-term career development, brand alignment, creative direction, and conflict resolution. These insights aligned with Paul Allen’s concepts around career planning, team coordination, and business functions in Artist Management for the Music Business.
Equally transformative was our dive into market research, niche development, and audience analysis. As someone who creates music and also teaches others how to navigate the industry, understanding the importance of knowing your audience, their culture, demographics, and behavior stood out. Professor Jenkins’ lecture on “Finding Your Audience” was rich with commentary that helped solidify my approach to identifying niche markets, leveraging technology, and tailoring marketing messages effectively. I found myself applying what I was learning directly to my own ventures in the sacred steel music space and digital mentoring initiatives.
Steven Haines' framework in The Product Manager’s Survival Guide also challenged me to think critically about market direction and product fit. The PRESTO model, political, regulatory, economic, social, technological, and other environmental factors gave me a comprehensive way to evaluate not just trends, but the broader context that affects product and artist growth. It’s a tool I’ll carry with me into every business and creative decision moving forward.
The experiential angle, especially the live event planning, brand positioning, and final pitch assignments, brought everything full circle. It wasn’t just theory; it was application. And the bonus was the commentary from Professor Jenkins during each Zoom archive and discussion thread. His first-hand insights, grounded in personal experience, reminded me that the academic foundation is only the start, success comes from consistent learning, relationships, and adaptability.
Ultimately, PAM didn’t just teach me about managing others—it helped me refine how I manage myself, my brand, and my vision. This is a course I will continue to revisit in practice, even after graduation.

Unlocking the Importance of HSN Codes for Smooth International Trade
Tumblr media
In a world where global commerce is constantly expanding, having a unified system to categorize goods is essential. The Harmonized System of Nomenclature (HSN) code, developed by the World Customs Organization (WCO) in 1988, serves as a cornerstone of international trade. This global standard assigns a 6-digit code to over 5,000 different products, facilitating their classification across borders. The HSN code plays a critical role in standardizing customs procedures, enabling smoother trade, and ensuring that goods are systematically organized on a worldwide scale.
What is an HSN Code?
The HSN code is a globally recognized method for classifying goods and products. Comprising six digits, this code helps governments and businesses categorize products uniformly, ensuring that correct tariffs, taxes, and trade statistics are applied across countries. Numerous nations, including India, use this system not just for global trade but also for compliance with domestic tax regimes like the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
How does the HSN Code function?
The HSN system operates through a hierarchical classification structure. The six-digit code is divided into three key segments:
First Two Digits: Indicate the product's broad category (Chapter).
Next Two Digits: Specify a more detailed classification within that category (Heading).
Final Two Digits: Pinpoint the exact nature of the product (Subheading).
Take, for instance, a leather handbag. It falls under Chapter 42, which covers "Articles of leather," and its complete HSN code is 4202.21, identifying it as a leather handbag designed for personal use. This standardized approach simplifies the categorization of goods across markets.
Tumblr media
Why HSN Codes Are Crucial in International Trade
The key advantage of the HSN system is the seamless classification of goods across borders, which aids in faster and more transparent trade. Here's why the HSN code is indispensable:
Uniformity in Classification: By standardizing the classification process, HSN codes eliminate ambiguity, enabling efficient trade across countries.
Accurate Customs Tariffs: Customs departments use HSN codes to levy accurate tariffs based on product type, reducing errors and potential disputes.
Reliable Trade Data: Governments worldwide rely on HSN codes to collect trade data, allowing for better economic analysis and policy-making.
Global Adoption: With over 200 countries utilizing the HSN system, more than 98% of global merchandise trade is classified using these codes, making it the universal trade standard.
HSN Code Implementation in India
India adopted the HSN system in 1986 to improve the classification of goods for customs and excise purposes. Initially, India employed a 6-digit code, but over time, an 8-digit code was introduced for greater precision. The first two digits represent the chapter, followed by the heading, and finally, the subheading and tariff classification.
Under the GST framework, using HSN codes is mandatory. The level of detail required (4, 6, or 8 digits) depends on a company's annual turnover. For businesses with a turnover below Rs. 5 crore, a 4-digit code is sufficient. However, businesses with a turnover exceeding Rs. 5 crore must use at least a 6-digit code.
HSN Codes vs. SAC Codes: What's the Difference?
While HSN codes are used to classify goods, the Services Accounting Code (SAC) is utilized to categorize services. Similar to the HSN system, SAC codes offer a uniform framework for identifying various services under GST, ensuring consistency in tax rates and compliance across the board. Both codes are essential for accurate invoicing, tax returns, and trade documentation.
Why HSN Codes Matter for GST Compliance
Businesses must accurately include the correct HSN or SAC codes in their invoices and GST filings for multiple reasons:
Precise Taxation: Correctly classifying goods and services ensures the appropriate tax rates are applied, preventing costly errors or penalties.
Claiming Input Tax Credit (ITC): Proper HSN disclosure is essential for processing ITC claims smoothly.
Regulatory Compliance: Correct classification helps government authorities monitor trade activity and ensures compliance with GST laws.
Efficient Trade: Accurate HSN classification speeds up customs clearance processes, facilitating both domestic and international transactions.
HSN Codes and GST Law in India
According to the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Notification 78/2020, businesses are required to disclose HSN codes in Table-12 of their GSTR-1 returns, with the level of detail determined by annual turnover:
Turnover up to Rs. 5 crore: 4-digit HSN code required.
Turnover exceeding Rs. 5 crore: 6-digit HSN code required.
Since April 1, 2021, all businesses must include the correct HSN codes in their tax invoices, regardless of their turnover.

This blog post delves into the essence of Residential Vastu Services, highlighting their significance, the services provided, and the transformative effects they can have on your home.
Tumblr media
Understanding Vastu Shastra
Vastu Shastra, often referred to as the "science of architecture," is an ancient Indian discipline that guides the design and layout of buildings in harmony with natural forces. Rooted in Vedic traditions, Vastu Shastra is more than just an architectural guideline; it’s a philosophy that aligns physical spaces with cosmic energies. This alignment is believed to bring prosperity, health, and happiness to its occupants.
Vaidic Residential Vastu Services take this ancient knowledge and apply it to modern residential settings, offering customized solutions that enhance the living environment. By understanding the core principles of Vastu Shastra, these services help homeowners create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also energetically balanced.
The Core Principles of Vastu Shastra
The foundation of Vastu Shastra lies in its core principles, which are designed to align with the natural forces of the Earth. Here are some fundamental concepts that Vaidic Residential Vastu Services focus on:
The Five Elements (Pancha Mahabhuta): Vastu Shastra emphasizes the balance of five elements—earth, water, fire, air, and space. Each element plays a crucial role in maintaining harmony within a space. For instance, the placement of water features and fire sources is carefully planned to avoid conflicts and enhance positive energy.
Directional Alignments: The direction in which a room or building faces can significantly impact its energy flow. Vastu Shastra identifies eight directions (north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest) and assigns specific purposes and energies to each. Vaidic Residential Vastu Services use these directional alignments to optimize the benefits of each space.
Energy Flow: Proper energy flow, or "Prana," is essential for a harmonious living environment. Vastu Shastra provides guidelines for the placement of doors, windows, and furniture to ensure smooth energy circulation. This helps in minimizing disruptions and enhancing the overall atmosphere of the home.
Spatial Design: The arrangement of rooms and their functions are based on Vastu principles to promote health, wealth, and happiness. For example, the kitchen should ideally be in the southeast direction, while bedrooms are best placed in the southwest. Vaidic Residential Vastu Services offer detailed assessments and recommendations to align your home with these principles.
Services Offered by Vaidic Residential Vastu
Vaidic Residential Vastu Services provide a range of offerings tailored to meet the unique needs of each home. Here’s an overview of the key services you can expect:
Vastu Consultation: This initial consultation involves a thorough analysis of your home’s layout and orientation. A Vastu expert assesses the existing design and provides recommendations to enhance its alignment with Vastu principles. This may include suggestions for room placements, furniture arrangements, and color schemes.
Site Analysis and Planning: For new constructions or renovations, Vaidic Residential Vastu Services offer site analysis to ensure that the building plan adheres to Vastu guidelines. This includes evaluating the plot's direction, terrain, and surrounding environment to optimize the design from the ground up.
Remedial Measures: If a home is already built and doesn’t conform to Vastu principles, remedial measures can be implemented. These may involve the strategic placement of Vastu remedies like mirrors, crystals, or specific symbols to correct imbalances and enhance positive energy.
Customized Solutions: Recognizing that every home and family is unique, Vaidic Residential Vastu Services provide customized solutions to address specific needs and preferences. This personalized approach ensures that the recommendations are practical and align with the occupants' lifestyles and aspirations.
Benefits of Residential Vastu Services
Integrating Vastu Shastra into your home through Vaidic Residential Vastu Services can bring about numerous benefits:

Architecture Assignment Help
Tumblr media
As architecture students, we have a unique opportunity to shape the future by designing sustainable spaces that inspire creativity, foster community engagement, and promote environmental stewardship. In this college architecture assignment, we will explore the principles of sustainable design and apply them to create a visionary campus plan that addresses both the functional and ecological needs of our academic community. By focusing on original ideas and innovative solutions, we aim to develop a campus that not only enhances the learning experience but also sets an example for sustainable practices in the wider community.
1. Site Analysis and Regeneration
The first step in designing a sustainable campus is a comprehensive site analysis. We will assess the existing landscape, taking into account natural features, vegetation, topography, and solar orientation. Our goal is to preserve as much green space as possible, regenerating any damaged ecosystems, and incorporating them into the design. By doing so, we can create a campus that harmonizes with its surroundings and promotes biodiversity.
2. Passive Design Strategies
Passive design strategies will be at the core of our campus plan. By orienting buildings to maximize natural light and ventilation, we can reduce energy consumption for lighting and cooling. Incorporating shading elements, green roofs, and reflective surfaces will further enhance energy efficiency. Our aim is to create comfortable and sustainable spaces that minimize the campus’s carbon footprint.
3. Integration of Renewable Energy Sources
To achieve a carbon-neutral campus, we will integrate renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines. Strategic placement of these elements will ensure they seamlessly blend with the campus’s aesthetics while actively contributing to energy generation. By relying on clean energy, we can significantly reduce the campus’s reliance on non-renewable sources.
4. Sustainable Materials and Construction Techniques
The choice of materials and construction techniques will play a crucial role in our sustainable campus design. We will prioritize locally-sourced, recycled, and low-impact materials, reducing transportation emissions and environmental impact. Additionally, innovative construction techniques like modular building systems and efficient waste management will further contribute to sustainable construction practices.
5. Green Transportation and Connectivity
Creating a campus that encourages sustainable transportation is essential. We will prioritize pedestrian-friendly pathways, bicycle lanes, and electric vehicle charging stations to promote eco-friendly commuting. By implementing efficient public transportation links, we can also reduce the need for individual car usage among students and staff.
6. Social Spaces and Community Engagement
A truly sustainable campus must prioritize the well-being and engagement of its community. We will incorporate ample green spaces, outdoor seating areas, and communal gardens to foster a sense of belonging and encourage social interaction. Emphasizing sustainability in the curriculum and organizing environmental awareness programs will also empower students to become eco-conscious leaders.
7. Water Conservation and Management
Water conservation will be a key aspect of our campus design. Implementing rainwater harvesting systems, water-efficient fixtures, and natural water filtration techniques will reduce water consumption and wastage. Additionally, creating water features and biodiverse wetland areas will enhance the campus’s aesthetics while promoting ecological balance.
Conclusion
As future architects, designing a sustainable campus is not merely an academic exercise but a commitment to a better future. By incorporating site analysis, passive design strategies, renewable energy sources, sustainable materials, and community engagement, we can create a campus that reflects our values and sets an example for sustainable practices. Our vision of a green and innovative campus will not only enhance the learning experience but also inspire future generations to design and build with environmental consciousness. Together, we can create spaces that not only educate but also contribute positively to the well-being of the planet.

High-income countries have long sent their waste abroad to be thrown away or recycled—and an independent team of experts says they’re inundating the developing world with much more plastic than previously estimated.
According to a new analysis published last week, United Nations data on the global waste trade fails to account for “hidden” plastics in textiles, contaminated paper bales, and other categories, leading to a dramatic annual underestimate (1.8 million metric tons) of the amount of plastic that makes its way from the European Union, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States to poor countries. The authors highlight the public health and environmental risks that plastic exports pose in the developing world, where importers often dump or incinerate an unmanageable glut of plastic waste.
“Toxic chemicals from these plastics are poisoning communities,” said Therese Karlsson, a science and technical adviser for the nonprofit International Pollutant Elimination Network, or IPEN. IPEN helped coordinate the analysis along with an international team of researchers from Sweden, Turkey, and the US.
Many estimates of the scale of the plastic waste trade make use of a UN database that tracks different types of products through a “harmonized commodity description and coding system,” which assigns each product category a code starting with the letters HS. HS 3915—“waste, parings, and scrap” of plastics—is often assumed by researchers and policymakers to describe the total volume of plastic that’s traded globally. But the new analysis argues this is only “the tip of the plastic waste iceberg,” since HS 3915 misses large quantities of plastic that are included in other product categories.
Discarded clothing, for example, may be tracked as HS 5505 and not counted as plastic waste, even though 60 to 70 percent of all textiles are made of some kind of plastic. And another category called HS 6309—used clothing and accessories—is assumed by the UN to be reused or recycled and is therefore not considered waste at all, even though an estimated 40 percent of these exported clothes are deemed unsalvageable and end up dumped in landfills.
Plastic contamination in paper bales—the huge stacks of unsorted paper that are shipped abroad to be recycled—also tends to be overlooked in estimates of the international plastic waste trade, even though these bales may contain 5 to 30 percent plastic that must be removed and discarded.
Accounting for plastic from just these two product categories increases plastic waste exports from all the regions analyzed by as much as 1.8 million metric tons per year—1.3 million from paper bales and half a million from textiles. That’s more than double the plastic that’s counted when only plastic “waste, parings, and scrap” are analyzed.
Additional product categories like electronics and rubber add even more to the global plastic waste trade, although Karlsson said a lack of data makes it hard to quantify their exact contribution. All this plastic strains developing countries’ waste management infrastructure, leading to large quantities of plastic waste ending up in dumps, landfills, or incinerators. Burning this waste causes hazardous air pollution for nearby communities, and dumps and landfills can leach chemicals like PCBs—a group of compounds that can cause cancer in humans—into soil and water supplies.
More than 10,000 chemicals are used in the production of plastic, and one-fourth of them have been flagged by researchers for their toxicity and potential to build up in the environment and in people’s bodies. The report calls for greater transparency from plastic and petrochemical industries about the chemicals they put in their plastic products, and for regulators to require them to use fewer, nontoxic chemicals.
Karlsson also called for a total ban on the global plastic waste trade, along with enforceable limits on the amount of plastics the world makes in the first place. “Regardless of what way we’re handling plastic waste, we need to decrease the amount of plastics that we generate,” she told Grist, “because the amount of plastic waste being produced today will never be sustainable.”

Connor is 26, a young & ambitious detective who steadily rose in ranking after his talents were noticed by Captain Fowler & his superiors. He doesn’t show any distinct interest in promotions. He simply wants to help people. He specializes in homicide, having worked as a detective under a year. He’s still technically a rookie in his own field, though he has worked for the DPD for two years. He works with a seasoned police officer, Lieutenant Hank Anderson, as his partner. He has two brothers, both identical, one being more distinct. Colin & Xander work in different fields of Detroit law enforcement. They are very close.
Background:
Connor & his brothers talents & their potential within law enforcement were noted long before the trio entered the Academy. Amanda Stern, a mentor & friend since their years in university, suggested the path towards the DPD. As the director of the Psychology department, she was already well aware of the troubling inner workings of their brains, having slowly but carefully profiled the trio through observation. She determined that while they could become a great asset to the department, without guidance they could become a far greater detriment. She chose to coax them down the path of betterment, & the boys took to her advice well. The triplets hold bachelor degrees in Criminal Psychology & Forensics. During their time in the academy, the brothers thrived. However, due to the nature of their psychology, none passed the psychiatric evaluation & Amanda was presented with hard evidence to her initial suspicions. The diagnosis: Antisocial Personality Disorder. High functioning. Moderate. Though confronted with this damning roadblock to the boys chances at attaining their potential, Amanda had the results dismissed & the boys were hired against the better judgement of the Psychology department. The test results were made a matter of permanent, but private record & the trio began their careers within the DPD. While the middle child, Colin, would leave the DPD to pursue a career in corrections, the two remaining brothers received promotions quickly, far ahead of the anticipated pace for officers. Xander was promoted to detective for the SWAT department, Connor a detective in Homicide, where both would continue to thrive in what seemed to be their natural environment, their assigned departments perfectly corresponding to their particular proclivities.
Storyline:
In pursuit of the Chesapeake Ripper, the team under Jack Crawford of the FBI grew needy for assistance as Crawford became further concerned that his specialized profiler, Will Graham, had been compromised psychologically & feared breaking him. Through his resources Crawford touched base with Detroit PD’s Director of Psychology, Amanda Stern, who suggested her own protĂ©gĂ© Connor Arkeit as a worthy successor. As such, Connor was assigned to work with FBI & transported temporarily to Quantico. There he was directed to work with Graham & learn what he could, ready to take over should there be a need for it. Instead he learned to completely harmonize with his partner, after realizing they both possess the same gifts of imagination & reconstruction. However, he realized Will could not turn off his empathy, & slowly Connor began to take on more & more in his role as profiler, both using Will for information & protecting him from further psychological trauma with mixed results.

A beginner guide on how to write an essay
An essay can base on various subjects, it can be an engaging essay or be the result of a reflection of the author’s thoughts.[best essay writing service] We will give you some tips for writing your essay well.
A basic structure to respect You should know that the tests respect a very rigid structure that you will have to follow. First of all, the introduction, where you will try to hook the reader. You will have to present your problem and introduce your plan (using questions for example).[professional essay Writing] Your essay should have at least two parts, commonly referred to as the development. There are 3 main types of plan: Cartesian (introduction/thesis/antithesis and synthesis), logic (facts/causes and consequences), and explanatory (analysis of the main terms of the subject illustrated with examples).
It's up to you to make your choice, depending on your subject and your angle of reflection, knowing that the plan must be in accordance with the chosen problem. For example: if there is an opposition in this one, then it will be better to choose the Cartesian type plane. Finally, you will have to write a conclusion, in it you will have to answer your problem, briefly summarize your reflection and finally express your opinion (you must not do it before that). [write my Assignment online]You can open your subject in the final sentence and suggest other angles of approach, for example by asking a question.
 First step: choose a subject
We do not start writing an essay headlong, start by taking a sheet and write down ideas, subjects that are important to you. Rank them and keep only the most relevant. From this brainstorming stage, try to think of points of opposition in relation to your ideas, in order to be able to develop your argument, and to flesh it out by considering possible points of objection. If you see that there is not enough, if any, or that on the contrary there is too much, it is better to abandon this idea, because it will be difficult to debate on it, and an idea badly led can harm the credibility of the whole. After all of this, you should have passed the first step: defining a basic topic.
Step Two: Organize Your Plan Now is the time to start structuring your ideas. It is about making a draft plan. A few quick tips for this: you can write it as a diagram, or as a table, and with each main argument associate an example, a fact, something that supports it, to give this idea more strength and weight. Find out which way you want to develop a particular argument. Feel free to cover your draft with arrows and circles, highlight and underline, etc. Your goal is to deepen your subject to treat it as fully and as relevantly as possible. This gives you the material you need to write a clear and precise outline for your essay.
Step three: writing Start writing your text. An essay responds to precise rules as we mentioned above, it will be necessary to balance the parts of your outline, to harmonize the paragraphs, etc. Write the development first, ending with the introduction and conclusion. These parts are probably the most important in your book. The introduction will attract the reader, the conclusion will be what will mark him the most and which will allow him to understand and evaluate your reflection, to be convinced by your words. [professional homework writers UK] Try to be eye-catching.
 Last step: proofreading
It is always necessary to proofread several times and to ask an outside point of view to do it for us because very often we end up not paying attention to our own mistakes. Check that you are not going off-topic, that the problem is present in each part, that you answer it well at the end but that you do not take a position before. In short, be critical and objective!
The golden rules: do not scatter and take your time
These are the keys to writing a good essay. This type of writing can deal with everything, it is a form of personal argument. It can be controversial, scientific, historical, philosophical, political, etc. Take the time to think about your subject, and how you are going to develop it, take care of the presentation respecting the consecrated structure, and always try to keep a global view of your work.[homework writing service] The most dangerous thing is to move away from your basic problem, repeat it regularly so as not to get lost. Go over your outline to see if it is coherent if your sentences are not too long or difficult to understand. All these little things are important, which is why you should always take your time when writing an essay because it should be: fluid, coherent, and harmonious.

Music Theory Blog by Sheenagh Shannon (MK)
My name is Sheenagh Shannon. I’m an 18-year-old singer/songwriter currently studying music performance. In this blog I’m going to break down the basic principles of music theory to hopefully help any readers gain a better understanding of the inner-workings of the music we love and listen to.
Tumblr media
Scales
I’d like to begin by explaining what scales are and how they work. The pictures I will be showing have music written on what is called a stave, and included on the stave is either a bass or treble clef (treble clef being higher, and bass clef being lower.) The notes in the treble clef start with E on the bottom line and ascend from there, whereas the notes in the bass clef start with B and ascend from there.
Tumblr media
(Left is the bass clef, right is treble clef.)
A scale is a group of notes that are arranged by ascending or descending order of pitch. In an ascending scale, each note is higher in pitch than the last one and in a descending scale, each note is lower in pitch than the last one. I will explore the two most common types of scales; major and minor.
Tumblr media
You must have a note on every single line or space of the stave. One of the most common types of scale is the major scale. These scales are used in an endless variety of songs we listen to. Major scales are defined by the order of which semitones and tones occur. Semitones are whole steps and half steps, and their combination specifies how a scale should be interpreted. For example, the major scale is this:
Tone – Tone – Semitone – Tone – Tone – Tone – Semitone
Or in whole steps and half steps it would look like:
Whole – Whole – Half – Whole – Whole – Whole – Half
Tumblr media
This formula can be used to form a major scale starting on any note. Major keys are often correlated with positive emotions – a good example of how a major key can create an upbeat and joyous mood is a song called ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s,’ by Deep Blue Something. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSgJ5On8Zso)
The second type of scale I’d like to explain is the minor scale. A minor scale, much like the major scale, also has seven notes but is defined by having a flattened third. This means that the third note on the scales is three semitones above the first note. With major scales, the third note of the scale is situated four semitones above. A seemingly small change, but it makes all the difference!
Tone – Semitone – Tone – Tone – Semitone – Tone – Tone
Tumblr media
It’s important to note that there are three different types of minor scale: the natural minor, the harmonic minor, and the melodic minor. Each type of minor scale uses an ever so slightly different formula of semitones and tones, but they all share the minor third in common.
Minor keys are more often associated with music that feels sad or melancholy, but they don’t necessarily have to abide by their assigned moods – minor keys can create intensity, passion, or with the right placement, even joy. Linked is a song called ‘Losing My Religion’ by R.E.M  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKvCV8MFIaw) a song that begins on the chord of A minor. I believe this is a good example of what a ‘minor’ song sounds like.
Modes
Next, I’d like to discuss modes. Modes are a series of seven musical scales each with definitive qualities and varying sounds. Their names are:
Ionian
Dorian
Phrygian
Lydian
Mixolydian
Aeolian
Locrian
Each of these scales are a type of diatonic scale, which means they have seven notes and have two intervals that are semitones (half steps) and five intervals that are tones (whole steps.) The modes can also be split into two types, major and minor modes. The three major modes are Lydian, Ionian and Mixolydian and the four minor modes are Dorian, Aeolian, Phrygian and Locrian, although it is important to note that the Locrian mode is typically defined as a diminished scale. I’m going to give a couple of examples to show how modes work.
Ionian Mode
Tumblr media
As shown above, the Ionian mode is exactly the same as the C major scale with no sharps or flats. It’s just another name for it!
Mixolydian Mode
Tumblr media
The only difference between this mode and the Ionian mode is that it has a flattened 7th note as shown above. A song that uses this mode is a song called ‘Wicked Game’ by Chris Isaak (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aid2vMbCNP8) a song that I personally love and listen to quite often. The song is characterized by its haunting and sorrowfully conflicted tone, which exemplifies how modes can be used to create very specific moods or feelings.
Lydian Mode
Tumblr media
The last mode I’m going to show you is called the Lydian mode. It’s the brightest sounding of the modes - quite like the Ionian mode, except it contains a raised fourth note. To play a Lydian scale we sharpen the fourth note of the scale. A song that uses this mode is a song called ‘Flying in a Blue Dream’ by Joe Satriani. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SINl5JY7LhI)
Chords
Chords are the vertical arrangement of notes from a scale. Many people define chords as several notes played simultaneously. Let’s begin with examples of the most basic chord - the triad.
The triad is a class of chords, specifically three-note chords formed by this formula: 1-3-5 or root, third, fifth. There are four kinds:
Tumblr media
The major is consonant; the minor is less consonant, but still largely so on most occasions. The augmented chord is very dissonant, and the diminished chord is incredibly dissonant because it contains a tritone (an augmented fourth, or on this occasion, diminished fifth.) This is the basic principle of how chords are formed and what they are. Most songs in existence are built upon a series of chords.
Triads are often extended with some form of the seventh to form a seventh chord. When a chord is called a seventh chord, usually the dominant seventh is meant, which is a major triad with a minor seventh.  Because all sevenths are dissonant intervals, any seventh chord is dissonant, because all sevenths are dissonant intervals. A seventh chord is far tenser than a major or minor chord. Jazz music, for example, is a genre that uses seventh chords quite consistently and often seems to treat them as consonant.
Keys
In music, the key identifies the tonal centre of a song. This tonal centre is a note that the whole song revolves around, and each note in the song gravitates towards that home base note. If a song is in the key of C, then each note in the song gravitates towards a C. Below is a list of the 12 keys of music. Key of C Key of Db / C# (en-harmonic keys) Key of D Key of Eb Key of E Key of F Key of Gb / Key of F# (en-harmonic keys) Key of G Key of Ab Key of A Key of Bb Key of B / Key of Cb (en-harmonic keys)
Tumblr media
Key signatures can provide an idea as to what key a song is written in. Key signatures appear directly after the clef signs and will tell you what sharps or flats will appear in a song. The number of sharps or flats in the key signature can give you a clue as to what key a song is in. For example, if a song has no sharps or flats in the key signature, the song may be in the key of C. If a song has one sharp in the key signature, it may be in the key of G. I’ve included a chart of key signatures to help explain this principle better.
Note Lengths
Each note written on the stave has a duration as well as pitch. In music notation, a note value indicates the duration of the note. It is the design of the note that tells you its duration, in the same way as the position on the staff tells you the pitch.
Tumblr media
This chart should indicate a clear and simple analysis of how note lengths work. For example, if a song is in 4/4, it would look something like this:
Tumblr media
Time Signatures
In music, a time signature alerts you to the meter of the piece that you’re playing. The two numbers in the time signature tell you how many beats are in each measure of music. A piece with a time signature of 4/4 has four quarter note beats; each measure with a 3/4 meter has three quarter note beats; and each measure of 2/4 time has two quarter note beats. The most common time signatures you will come across are:
4/4 - Common time
3/4 - Waltz time
2/4 - March time
6/8 time
The most common meter in music is 4/4. In 4/4, the stacked numbers tell you that each measure contains four quarter note beats. So, to count 4/4 meter, if you tap the beat each time, you would be tapping the equivalent of one quarter note. Ÿ is the second most common meter, and each measure has three quarter note beats. In 3/4 time, beat 1 of each measure is the downbeat, and beats 2 and 3 are the upbeats. It’s quite common amongst country music.
Once you start listening closely, you can hear the difference between time signatures. A famous song that uses 4/4 is a song called ‘Runaway Train’ by Soul Asylum (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzzKBxlIiEQ.) If you count the beats you can hear the difference between that song and a song like ‘Strawberry Wine’ by Deana Carter (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdWV7PpeTVA) for example.
My Transcription
Tumblr media
I’ve transcribed a verse and a chorus from a song called ‘Molly’s Lips,’ by Nirvana (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f76GsOBxUg0)
I’ve chosen this song because it’s simple, to be perfectly honest! It gives a good, clear example of what a transcription looks like.
