just thinking about trent having an embarrassing twitter account that's like, idk, priv and/or just like an anonymous jokey account sort of thing and it regularly tweets things like "The weighted blanket is not enough. i need a man to lay on top of me horizontally and crush me to death. lovingly." and "Just made finger guns at my crush instead of doing what I intended to do, which was apologize. I think maybe I should be shot into the sun?" and "Sorry for being rude. I got anxious and scared. It will happen again" and "'Not all men' you're right. Ted Lasso would never do this to me" <- everyone assumes that's a general celebrity crush/just a joke about a famously really nice guy and like, coach beard actually likes/retweets it so it goes mildly viral and trent is like. This Is Fine. most people assume that this account is run by like, a female tumblr user in her late twenties. no. this is a middle-aged single father and no one realizes this until he tweets something like "My ex-wife just set me up with a man who looks exactly like my straight crush, but worse. You know, because she's evil, and also the funniest person alive. anyway guess who i ran into on the date" or "i am a single middle-aged father and i only JUST NOW found out i have autism. My parents knew when I was three." which is then updated by "WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY EX WIFE KNEW TOO" (she thought it was kind of a given) only to confuse them again when he mentions that time he was pregnant

looks up. blinks blearily. scifi series review in the tags (not real review) (not verified) (i have been awake for a very large number of hours)
#ok i just finished reading the machineries of em/pire series#on 3 hours of sleep because it is the middle of exam szn and i had work at 8 this morning#and im also hashtag unemployed again (passes out dizzily) (my contract ended)#so maybe its all compounding but the third book PISSED ME OFFFFFF#i think its jedao 2 being so not!jedao and also cheris being mostly not!jedao#and introducing 2 whole different crews of speaking characters in the concluding book#that did not work for me.#the moth twist was interesting but not body-horrorish enough#kujen had SOOOOOOOOO much going for him but it didnt execute as well. like its implied that despite the horrid world he built it is in fact#one without hunger.#i wish we got to see that in book 1 + 2. as background. did i miss it?#also that drop in the middle of his lore about his first gift being a fucking. fridge. the immortality/something that never spoils.#made me insane. i wish we covered more his loneliness + abuse of jedao to accompany him + the psych surgery#but i concede the yaoi was in fact sufficiently corrosive.#ok on the other hand though i could NOT be pressed to care about the new crew on either jedao 2's side or inesser's#and i didnt like how brezan faded in and out of relevance#it was too unfocused. and i felt most of the new characters didnt have time to grow into their own skin AND were unlikeable (worse: boring)#overall. like brezan's sister...? WHY#also the math disappeared :(. maybe not a downside for everyone but it was sparse enough already and by 3rd it felt like a decorative piece#sad... i loved cheris in the second book but she felt so.. convenient here. like yeah! shows up and solves all problems 👍 hm.#the servitors too although i felt that they were too convenient since book 1. you are telling me NO ONE was talking to the machines???#my guy people will bond with a roomba.#the kujen/jedao went kind of crazy tho. mostly on the kujen side he is so deeply unethical!#ig for me it just wasnt convincing enough... like everyone started monologuing about killing kujen and i just. felt bad for him#didnt help he was the most interesting character in the book#SOOORRRY im salty i need to sleep. for disclosure i LOVED book 1 & 2 and ch 1 of book 3 set me up too good the only way to fall is down.#ok goodnight. kujen did everything wrong but i forgive him anyway

Another thing I don’t see brought up much is that, in a few versions of 12 angry men, juror 3 is meant to have been extremely young when he became a parent (at least in my opinion).
(This is considering that in the 1954 outline of 12 angry men, he’s stated to be 40, and everytime they’re given ages, he’s stayed 40. (As far as I’m aware, every time they’re given ages is in the scripts/outlines for the films which are basically just recycled versions of their predecessors (1954 + 1957 & 1997 movies))
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(First one is accredited to the 1957 film, but personally not certain. Second one is of the 1997 film, from 1996. In both, he’s stated to be 40 in the character overviews)
I’m aware that in all of the films, his casting does NOTT help this idea along but I feel like the intent that was there matters kinda
I know in most* versions of the play, juror #3 mentions that his son being 16 (when he (the son) hit him (juror #3), so most people consider juror 3’s son to be 16. But he also mentions that he hasn’t seen his son in 3 years in those versions. I always assumed that in those versions he’d be at least 19, but I guess it can be interpreted differently. Additionally, in the versions of the play that the son is given an age (20), he is still mentioned to be 16 during this event.
contrarily, the plays are much more malleable than the films so you can assign juror #3 any age yoi wish, rendering this whole thing about the plays kinda pointless. But I wanted to mention it too
*in some versions of the English play, son is still stated to be 20. (Actually I’m not sure if this is just some or allof the English plays because I haven’t checked each edition. Also, I’m not sure if this is true for the Dramatic plays (so I have not stated so), because I can’t be bothered to read those again)
