Rockman.EXE Episode 47 Review.
Told you these guys would be back. -__-
Let the Wacky Races parody begin!
We start the episode with car related shots, something that looks like a photo shooting with Aki-chan, more car related close ups and a scene of Iceman being taken away from Aki by Glyde.
A race is taking place today! Shots of the drivers getting their cars ready along with Rush getting chained to one of the cars for some reason, and Rockman putting on the goggles we saw earlier along with his battle mask.
He looks cute with goggles. :3
We see the different “cars” at the starting line as the race begins!
Yes, that is in fact Magicman’s arm shoveling coal into a train engine.
Its is reveal to be a Net Mobile Grand Prix hosted by Yaito since the commentator is one of her maids. Just then, a newcomer drives in at the last second.
Blues joins the brawl! I mean race.
After the title card, Yaito’s maid tells us the name of each car and their respective drivers.
Rockman is driving the only real race car, Gutsman is racing in a tank, Roll’s car looks sentient and Glide is wearing gloves over his gloves.
Mania-Obsessive, the Ex-WWW Navis are driving a train, Net agents are driving a manly submarine and Yaito’s maid just straight up insults Blues. Talk about an objective commentator.
This is basically Mario Karts, so we all know they’re gonna attack eachother, be realistic woman!
The winner, aside from the title, will also receive a kiss from the CGI race queen.
“I love you, you love me, we all love weird looking CGI~”
I can only imagine those are the lyrics of a new cheezy song of hers.
This is something I didn’t like from the dub, we all know that Roll has a crush on Rockman, but it is not okay to make her jealous of other girls? The dub change the dialogue to Roll complaining about Rush not being in the car with her, as if she didn’t know that she has him strapped to the car’s front. It’s actually cute how Roll wants to win the race to avoid having Aki kiss him.
But Rockman couldn’t care less about the kiss because all he wants is to win no matter the battle, as he then gives us a flashback from a few days earlier at the Maha Ichiban where Yaito is telling everyone (including Higure for some reason) about the race.
I love that little gag with Netto, eating curry is always a priority for him. Also, why is one of Hello Kitty’s friends on the wall? Or... maybe its just a pig.
Yaito then shows them a new line of Navi cars with Numberman as the model.
The idea behind these cars is that Navis will be able to drive cars through the internet, which is pretty stupid considering that there are no highways in Internet city and Navis can easily travel fast plug-in style. But we all know that the real reason is to make Blues look cool in a future episode and have a Wacky Races parody.
In order to advertize the cars, Yaito wants to hold a race and asks Netto and the others to take part, they accept, but the Ex-WWW overhears them and ask to join as well for the publicity for their restaurant. And for some reason Commander Beef and the rest of the Net Agents arrive and decide to enter as well to foil WWW’s idea. And Yaito being so selfish doesn’t give a crap about the WWW’s intention like she did in the last episode and just accepts everyone.
But it DOES bother you when Enzan joins the race at the last second, you self centered big headed hypocrite! You are tied in with Rush for the second spot on my list of most hated characters from this season! (You should all know who number one is).
In the cyberworld, Glyde asks Iceman to be his co-pilot and Roll invites Rush along before noticing something wrong with him. Turns out the Cutman brothers are back and they made a paper cut out of a flea to spy on Rockman’s group. They plan to take out Rockman during the race because they still think he’s evil and now they seem to have a crush on Roll all of a sudden.
Makes sense that Glyde asks to team up with Iceman, because I don’t believe there is a car small enough for him.
The flashback ends, making me wonder if the Cutmen scene was part of Rockman’s memory, and we return to the race. We also see the thoughts of the Net Agents taking part as well.
Funny you ask that, Miyuki, because we then cut to Madoi wondering why the WWW is driving a train. Mahajarama just happens to have a thing for trains.
We cut to Rockman who just now finds out that Blues is in the race, I mean come on, Netto didn’t tell him?
Gutsman manages to pass Rockman... On a tank! How?
Gutsman gets in front of Numberman and decides to bend the rules by attacking the car, sending it flying and forcing Numberman to log out after it blows up leaving an emoji face Higure-san.
The cars enter a tunnel where Iceman decides to freeze the road causing Gutsman to drift out of control.
However, Roll-chan is too close, but she avoids crashing into Gutsman by quickly drifting along with him. Worried about Roll’s safety, Gutsman decides to destroy his own car forcing him to log-out.
Here is another line changed in the dub. It’s a fact in both versions that Gutsman has a crush on Roll and he even sacrificed himself in episode 24 to protect her. Here, the dub had him saying that he was getting dizzy and he destroys his own car because he couldn’t take it anymore. I guess the dub wanted Roll to be portrayed more as an equal than having a man sacrificing himself for her for no real reason.
After this we see the Cutman brothers waiting outside of the tunnel where they make a giant paper cut out of a canon. Netto cheers for Rockman, but just then the WWW train pushes his car off balance making him slide out of control before cutting to commercials.
We come back from commercials with Netto saving Rockman by changing his tires, with a little warning about using those tires in public roads that was skipped in the dub. Rockman regains control by driving on the walls of the tunnel and the race continues with Higure-san as a new commentator.
The insult of the day is “pain in the ass” because this is the third time we hear that in this episode. Or the sub was too lazy to think of another insult.
The cars exit the tunnel where the Cutmen are waiting for Rockman with the canon, but for some reason they just stand there. I guess the cars are so fast that they didn’t get the chance to shoot?
The line in the dub was just as pathetic. ¬ -¬
The next obstacle is a draw bridge opening, Rockman and Blues manage to jump to the other side without problems, Roll-chan has some kind of air bag under her car that allows her to bounce to the other side, but the manly submarine can only do what it does best, dive.
So the Net agents are out and now its time for the WWW to upgrade their train from a steam powered locomotive to an electrical train thanks to the Count and Elecman.
I like how Coloredman and Heatman are waving their hands in the air like they don’t even care. XD
Time for the Cutmen’s third attemp to destroy Rockman, by planting something on his car using a manhole they created out of paper. It looks like they forgot cut some stairs because Cutman Jiro (Eyebrows) is using the rest of the Cutmen to give him leverage. The fat cutman at the bottom gets a supper boost of strenght causing Jiro to get run over by Rockman’s car. They ask about what happened to the paper cut out, which turns out to be a time bomb, and they assume that it successfuly stuck to Rockman’s car making them feel victorious and making up a new excuse for last time about Roll-chan being in danger too. What’s this sudden crush for Roll?!
“It was at this moment that Cutman Jiro realized... He f*!ked up.”
We return to the race with the WWW Navis in first place and attacking the other cars, they eventually take out the Battle Bus much for Yaito’s maid’s dismay.
Boo-hoo, maybe now you can concentrate in being an objective commentator.
The WWW feels confident, but Enzan, Netto and Meiru power up their Navi’s vehicles giving them a boost of speed to pass the WWW train.
As the WWW Navis are shocked by Rockman and the others passing them, the Otoko-Maru raises from the water and returns to the race just to get in the way of the Wakahage taking both teams out.
This was just a hilarious accident, but the dub made it look like the Navis themselves did it on purpose to get the WWW out of the race. That would actually make sense, Sharkman, Woodman and Skullman sacrificing themselves for their main objective fits with their characters, after all we don’t see their reactions inside the submarine. They like “Screw this race, we are taking the WWW with us!” ;)
Cue the final lap music of Mario Karts, or in this case, Rockman’s victory music since we have reach the third and final lap of the race with Rockman, Blues and Roll-chan racing eachother.
We see the Cutmen waiting at the finish line as Rockman and Blues focus on eachother and both of them try to make a move in a corner, but they seem to forget that Roll is behind them because they open up a gap for her to move on to first place.
And the seventh panel was ruined by a layering mistake. ¬ . ¬
Roll is now in the lead, but Rockman and Blues are not happy with this so it’s time for their Netops to send in their last accessory chips to transform their vehicles, with Meiru doing the same to keep her advantage over them.
Roll’s corny car just became a freaking rocket plane with wheels!
As Rock and Blues try to catch up with her, we check back with the Cutman brothers who discover a tiny problem with their plan of blowing up Rockman.
That little Cutman is an idiot. Turns out the bomb was stuck to Jiro’s back all along, probably after he got ran over by Rockman’s car, the rest of the Cutman panic trying to take it off with no avail.
The three Navis are almost at the finish line, Roll is holding her ground, until one of her tires suddenly blows up for whatever reason causing her to spin out of control, Rockman and Blues take advantage of this to pass her.
Roll’s car finally crashes and blows up sending Rush flying and forcig Roll to log out leaving behind a tear.
Yeap, that is a tear drop breaking. The dub kept this in because I remember wondering what that was. I inicially thought it was like a sweat drop, but after watching the original version, I realized that was a tear because Roll was heartbroken knowing that she failed to stop Rockman from winning and getting kissed by Aki-chan. AWWWWW.
So now it’s down to Rockman and Blues! Who will become the champion?
Hmmm... Considering that motorcycles don’t normally take part in car races, this is gonna be a tough call.
Anyway, the race is over and I want my fireworks!
Woo hoo! Let’s celebrate because this is the last time we see the Cutman brothers. (Until the Beast saga, but that’s another story.)
As they are waiting for the results, Blues raises his index finger to the sky making everyone believe that he is declaring himself the winner, but he surrprises them by pointing at Rockman and declaring him the victor.
But this moment of good sportmanship is ruined by the photo finish that shows that the winner of the race.... Is Rush.
I dont know why they cutted out Blues’s reaction in the dub, it was funny. Or do they think Blues is too cool for this?
Yes, Rush is the winner because he crossed the finish line first after Roll’s car blew up, so I guess in a way, Roll got her wish. :3
And the episode ends with everyone booing as Aki-chan kisses an unconscious Rush and Netto breaking the picture with his face.
My thoughts?
Before I forget again, here is a fun fact! Cutman Jiro and the original Cutman were voiced by the same person who voiced Bubbleman in the rest of the anime, Chiyako Shibahara. It was until the Beast saga when the Cutman Brothers and Cutman himself return for an episode where I realized it was the same voice, the only difference being that they don’t say “Puku” all the time.
Wacky Races was an old Hanna-Barbera show from the 80′s that was very popular in a lot of countries, specially in Japan for many animes would include an episode based on the concept. Whether it was a direct parody or just inspired by it, this episode is clearly one of those examples. Sure, it might also be a reference to the Megaman Battle and Chase game that was released in 1997, but that could’ve been inspired by Wacky Races too.
How can I tell if this was directly inspired by the Wacky Races cartoon?
Because Roll-chan’s car is an obvious parody of Penelope Pitstop’s car from the show, with the car wearing mascara an all. And I think there was also a tank in the race.
All and all, this was a very fun episode to watch, it wasn’t ridiculous like the baseball one, this one was written into the story to actually make sense. Remember my criterias for episode 43? The episode introduced something new that fits in with the anime’s universe, and Blues’s bike will make a comeback in a future episode.

Rockman.EXE Episode 34 Review.
Let’s learn about the stocks market with Rockman-sensei! Where did he get that stick, though?
Electronic money, the root of all cyber evil.
We start the episode at Higureya where we find out that Higure-san is broke.
When even Numberman thinks that number is boring, you know it’s not good.
To make matters worse, Numberman also tells him that he will be kicked out of the building because he haven’t payed the rent in three months. Thats what happens when you use your money to buy rare chips and not sell them in your chip shop.
As Higure is sulking, a mysterious beared man enters his store.
After the title card we see the inside of a bank where we focus on the money transactions going in and out for different companies.
I’m not sure if Mitsushi is suppouse to be a car brand or a sushi restaurant.
Inside the computer we see how the programs in charge transport the money data, they even have cute little security guards that can easily be kicked out of the way by an intruder.
You would think that a bank would have a stronger security.
The intruder is today’s Navified robot master, Magnetman.EXE.
Magnetman uses his magnetic powers to delete all of the programs and move the money data around.
After this, we see Netto and friends riding in Yaito’s limousine where they are listening to Midorikawa on the news talking about a generous rich man name Mr. Gauss aka Gauss Magnets arriving at Japan.
Hearing about all these remarkable contributions is followed by a egotistic comment from Yaito.
Netto, remind me again why are you friends with this girl?
Netto and the others talk about the rumors of Higureya about to close down soon and they decide to go visit Higure-san, only to find out that he has moved to a sky scrapper and is now incredibly rich.
Higure shows them how rich he’s become by showcasing limited edition Battle chips on his wall and serving them a super rare dessert that only Yaito knows about.
Higure doesn’t tell them why he suddenly became rich, so we see Yaito annoyed about this when they are back in the limousine. Shortly after, Glyde tells Yaito that he couldn’t buy anything at Internet city because of a problem with her bank accounts. Yaito reveals her secret credit card compartment inside the limo and starts to check them only to find that her accounts are completely empty.
During this we see that Higure’s money account is getting higher thanks to Magnetman’s intrusion in the bank, with every card Yaito checks, Higure becomes richer. After Yaito desperately slides all of her credit cards, Glyde tells her that all the money of Gabgom has dissapeared from their accounts.
I would get out of that limo if I were them.
We see that the one responsible for this is none other than Gauss Magnets who is Magnetman’s operator. The next day we... Oh come on! That shot of Netto, Meiru and Tohru walking to school together again?! Did Gauss steal from the animation budget too?!
We see Yaito being late for school since she has to walk there like a commoner. We also see her having to eat lunch with the rest of her class where Netto asks about her personal cooks not coming today.
I like how in the dub Glyde insults them by saying that he feels common like them. Also, I just love Netto’s face in the second panel.
After school, Yaito is sitting on a swing all alone until her friends come to cheer her up with a bottle of strawberry milk.
Dammit, Yaito! You even interrupt the heart warming music because you’re such a snob!
They all discuss about how strange it is that Yaito lost all her money when Higure-san is suddenly getting a lot.
We return from commercials with Enzan who is gonna do something about the economic problem since his company is also losing money. He finds Yaito waiting for him in the lobby who was wondering if his company was having trouble too, but all she gets is a good old insult about her company from Enzan.
Is the anime still trying to ship these two? Because I doubt Enzan sees her as anything more than an annoying eight-year old.
Walking around the city, Netto watches the news on the tv monitors all over the city where Midorikawa talks about the recent problems with the stock markets for different companies. Netto gets a simple explanation from Rockman about how the stocks affect the stability of a company. Right after this, Midorikawa says that one company is rising above the others.
Shocking.
We see Enzan at the bank where the source of the problem is, as he explains to Blues with a cute animation.
Makes sense.
Enzan arriving at the bank is a blessing because nobody had any idea that the computer was completely deserted!
Blues encounters an invisible figure who he then reveals easily. Magnetman praises Blues for finding him and gets ready to fight until his operator tells him to run away to avoid leaving any clues behind.
I find it interesting that Gauss’s codename is Midas, because everyone he touches becomes rich.
Later that night, Higure receives a call from Gauss telling him that somebody is gonna try to break in to steal his rare chips. Inmediately after, Netto arrives and Higure instantly believes he is a fake and refuses to let him in, but this proves to be pointless since Netto can let himself in anyway.
What CAN’T you do with a Net Navi in this world? Is the only thing preventing this from happening is people knowing that it’s ilegal?
Higure waits outside the elevator with a broom to attack the “fake” Netto, too bad his plan of knocking him out backfires when he breaks the broom.
With Higure out of the way, Netto sends Rockman into his PC where he is suddenly attack by Magnetman. Netto saves Rockman from the surprise attack by sending an Area Steal off screen and he deduces that Magnetman is the one messing around with the bank accounts, and that he probably is from Gospel, which a mysterious voice from somewhere confirms.
The battle begins, Netto sends the Sword, and Magnetman summons a Magnet line that acts like conveyer belt that pushes Rockman away. Netto frees Rockman by sending the Meteor nine chip to destroy it.
This doesn’t work in the game but it’s fun to watch how the anime gives out physical solutions to counter chips.
Netto keeps destroying the Magnet line with meteors creating smoke that allows Rockman to catch Magnetman off guard.
No, I don’t think this is suppoused to be the same meteor chip that Yaito stole from Higure in the last episode, that one was called the Giga Meteor, this one is called Meteor 9, maybe Netto just decided to get his own meteor chip after that.
Gauss isn’t happy with this and orders Magnetman to use the North-South tackle that consists in him summoning a blue Magnetman that represent the South pole of a magnet. The two Magnetmen turn into orbs that tackle Rockman from both sides.
This damages Rockman a lot, the Magnetmen prepare to use the N-S tackle again to delete him, but this time Blues swoops in and gets Rockman out of the way.
“What are you talking about? Higure is a friend of mine who suddenly became rich and I just wanted to know why, why are you here?”
With Enzan in the picture, its time to use a double Program Advance. The same animation as always but with a different background and they both aim their attacks at the real Magnetman. However, the blue Magnetman pushes him out of the way and is deleted instead.
So... Was he sentient too or was he just a copy of him programed to act as a decoy?
Gauss logs out Magnetman. Higure wakes up and is about to attack Netto again until they are interrupted by Rockman’s voice telling them that there is a secret froor in the building. The damaged created by the double Beta Sword exposed a hidden door, all Rockman has to do is go through said door and the wall in the real world suddenly opens revealing a secret staircase.
What did Rockman find at the other side of that door? We will never know.
All three of them go up the staircase and they find a huge dark room with an organ. Netto gets chills after hearing Gauss’s voice and figures that he is Magnetman’s operator.
Sure, Enzan. Let’s all walk down the stairs together and wait for the police to arrive so we can have a nice little chat that might end with one of us going to jail. >:c
Of course this isn’t the case since Gauss has a secret button that opens up the roof and allows him to escape on a weird looking aircraft without moving from his seat.
Well, that happend.
The next day we see that Yaito got her money back in her account and Midorikawa saying in the news that everything is back to normal, she even talks about Gauss leaving the country where we see him get a little taste of karma.
Karma, b*tch!
Why was this cutted from the dub? Too “mean spirited” , I guess?
Yaito visits Enzan in her limousine thanking him for his help.
Once again, Yaito learns nothing from this experience, and the episode ends with Higure-san out in the street, back to his poor usual self.
Don’t we all?
My thoughts.
Remember back in episode 30 where we found out that Count Elec has a brother? Well, now we can talk about him!
Gauss Magnets is Count Elec’s older brother. Unlike in the game, Gauss and Count Elec both come from a wealthy family with an affinity for electricity. Gauss became the president of his own company while the Count ran away from home to worked for the WWW as a cyber criminal.
“Gauss” is a measuring unit for magnetic fields. His first appearance in the game was when he hijacked an airplane to get a high power program in the computer, which wasn’t a good idea in hindsight since he was gonna crash the plane.
The dub added some funny lines in some scenes, but they also talked when there was no dialogue like during Gauss’s weird aircraft escape.
Something I didn’t like was how INCOMPETENT the banks are in this world, what kind of security was that? They were cute and all, but come on!
Now it makes sense!

Rockman.EXE Episode 20 Review.
Yaito’s weak bladder strikes again.
The day she almost couldn’t make it to the bathroom!
We start the episode at the tournament with Midorikawa announcing the battle for the semi-finals! Yay!
Only Rockman’s picture is on the screen, so everybody wonders who will be his next opponent. Or should I say opponents?
“Oops, forgot to display Blues’s picture”
Surprise! Rockman will be teamed up with Blues to fight Stoneman and Bombman! The ultimate tag team, or as Midorikawa calls it, the “BR Whirlwind!”
Everyone is excited for this announcement, but just then, Bombman and Stoneman decide to crash the party by reminding everyone of their superiority, again.
Looks like Wily didn’t install a “Humble” program into them.
However, Higure-san justifies their reason to brag since they can automaticaly use battle chips, instead of waiting for an operator to send the chip to the Navi.
Masa-san doesn’t agree with Higure-san and of course they have to start arguing about it.
This isn’t important, but it cuts to Midorikawa telling the audience to wait until everything is ready for the match.
So we move on to our heroes having a picnic outside, where they start to worry about Bombman and Stoneman. Masa-san decides to give Netto a pep talk by saying that he and Rockman have something that Bombman and Stoneman don’t, friendship.
Aww, but we can’t get mooshy over this, so we then have this funny scene.
This whole time Yaito has been eating with an annoyed expression on her face, and after this scene we finally hear why.
They actually think it’s a good idea since Enzan and Blues are strong, and Tohru even says that Enzan already has a fanclub, but Yaito doesn´t care for that since she is still angry at him for insulting her father’s company back in episode 14.
Their picnic is interrupted by mister sympathy himself, Netto says that he is looking foward to fighting with him, but Enzan just tells him to stay out of his way in the battle.
He tries to walk away but Yaito wont ignore the fact that he just insulted her company yet again, after trying to start an arguement with him she then challenges him to a Net Battle, but we all know that is never gonna happen.
Enzan, too cool to be a jerk.
This infuriates Yaito even more who decides she needs some alone time to releave her stress, and she leaves in the quickest and most stupidly rich way she could think of.
Must be one of those new hybrid limos. Was the choffer just wainting for her to give him a signal? The private jet was probably busy.
Shortly after this, Blues tells Enzan that he recieved a message from the president of his company, aka his father.
The next scene is the place where Yaito ran off to, a fancy hotel under the sea, where she washes away her stress with giant glasses of strawberry milk! XD
This scene was cut from the dub because, I’m guessing, Yaito sitting in a bar might make her look like she has a “drinking problem”. This is a joke of course, but you know how some people can get over “grown up” scenes like these.
As faith would have it, Yaito discovers that Enzan also happens to be at the hotel.
We then cut to Netto and Rockman, once again, in the trainning room practicing the Program Advance. A shot of Meiru watching them train is cut out in the dub.
Again, the power disappears before reaching its target, but they wont give up, so they keep practicing as we cut back to Yaito in her funny attempt to spy on Enzan.
She only ends up embarrassing herself by crashing into a table and running away. Enzan is done with his meeting and proceeds to the elevators, where Yaito just happens to be at, and for some reason she decides to hide inside the elevator behind a dinning car.
Her cover is blown by her big forehead, and also because Enzan isn’t stupid. She gets angry at him yet again and begins to yell. It’s almost like this episode is trying to ship these two.
Now we cut to some workers having a conversation.
Woops, but don’t worry, the coffee doesn’t damage the control panel, it’s when he tries to clean it up where he accidentaly presses a button that shuts off the power of the elevators, leading to a commercial break.
We come back from commercials with Yaito tightly grabbing onto Enzan’s arm.
Yeap, the anime wants to ship these too.
Enzan tries to call for help but the power in the elevator is off, and since he doesn’t want to miss his battle, he decides to use the dinning car to climb out of the elevator. All of this while talking to Yaito about him being in a business meeting instead of a date with a “hot blonde” like she initially though.
Enzan decides to leave Yaito alone in the elevator, since she herself said that she doesn’t want to “breath the same air than him”. This comes back for her in the form of all the strawberry milkshakes that she drank earlier, with a close up of her knees shaking being cutted out in the dub.
She then proceeds to follow Enzan through the elevator shaft, we cut back to the tournament where Meiru and the others tell Mariko-sensei that Netto still hasn’t mastered the program advance, they also notice that Yaito hasn’t return from the last time they saw her.
Back in the elevator shaft, Yaito is fighting her fear as she climbs the ladder behind Enzan, despite Glyde and Enzan telling her to go back to the elevator. She is too stubborn to listen but ends up screaming after seeing a shark outside a window since the hotel is underwater.
Enzan does the sensible thing and climbs down to talk to her, after asking her if she will keep climbing he tells her to open her eyes.
No wonder he has a fanclub.
After this tender moment, we cut to the tournament where Midorikawa announces that everything is ready for the match, and who are the first to appear at the arena?
Of course they could’t wait to brag in front of everyone again. This is starting to get annoying.
Back to the elevator shaft, Yaito is climbing the ladder with Enzan right behind her, luckily not looking under her dress, they start talking about Enzan’s father calling him to sign a contract at the hotel. Yaito suddenly slips, and after her shoe falls, she opens her eyes to see that Enzan caught her, he helps her get back up but loses something very important in the process.
Enzan, you are rich! How come Netto has a chip pack and you don’t?! You just put your chips in your pockets like a commoner!
Their luck quickly changes as one of the employees finds them.
“We can’t afford a lawsuit from both your fathers!” Now I feel sorry for the guy who spilled the coffee, he can lose his job over this. XD
Although they are saved, we can’t forget that Yaito lost her shoe! Oh, and Enzan’s chips too.
With both of them safely out of the elevator shaft, Enzan runs to the exit of the hotel, where Yaito’s special car arrives for him.
I share that same reaction, that was ridiculously fast!
I couldn’t help noticing that Yaito, despite having a PET, also seems to have a cellphone, which is weird because PETs are suppouse to be super evolved smartphones.
I’m surprise she didn’t peed her pants after those two scares she went through.
We cut to the trainning room with Netto and Rockman’s final attempt to perform the Program Advance before the match. Will this be it?
So... All he had to do was call out the Beta Sword?
Looks like they finally did it since Netto enters the arena excited and ready to take on Bombman and Stoneman.
However, Enzan hasn’t arrive yet, leading to Midorikawa announcing that if he doesn’t appear in the next five minutes he will be disqualified and Netto will have to face Bombman and Stoneman by himself.
I didn’t skip anything, this is literally what the clock shows after Netto says that. The clock showed five minutes and then it jumps to two minutes!
Everyone waits, the clock is now down to 16 seconds, Netto is about to give up until he hears footsteps. Enzan finally arrives with only three seconds left.
That was the quickest countdown I’ve ever seen!
“It was like the anime was trying to ship me with an eight year old girl, can you imagine?”
Speaking of said date, Yaito leaves a bathroom (with the bathroom sign shot cutted out in the dub for some reason) and asks Glyde if Enzan made it in time, Glyde tells her he did and that she aslo received a message from him. He shows her the mail in a scene that was compleatly edited in the american version.
This was changed to an image of an envelop on screen and then playing an audio message with Enzan’s voice. Yaito gets annoyed by this message and the episode ends with Bombman and Stoneman vs Rockman and Blues’s battle about to begin, setting everything up for the next episode.
I love how she calls them a Dream Tag.
My thoughts?
This episode explains a little more about Enzan’s character, despite being a pro and wanting to provoke Netto and his friends with his attitude, we get to understand why he acts that way. As we saw back in episode 14, Enzan comes from a rich family, his father is the president of a company that hasn’t been revealed in the anime yet. We also learn that Enzan is the vice president of said company and that that’s the reason why he had to sign a contract at the hotel where Yaito was. Enzan might seem like somebody who doesn’t care about anything, but we see that he does care about the tournament, we see him wanting to get to his battle on time, and he was willing to climb the elevator shaft just to be able to get there on time.
Just picture, an eleven to twelve year old boy forced to be the vicepresident of a company, his father is always working, mother absent or dead, he can’t eat outside without giant bodyguards because his rich, and is probably homeschooled because he doesn’t socialize with other kids his age. That would make anybody grumpy. Net battles seem to be the only thing he enjoys and he won’t let anything ruin it for him.
The anime tries to ship Yaito with Enzan since their company’s are rivals, even though they work in different areas. Enzan’s company is called IPC and it is a PET manufacturer company. Some sources say that IPC stands for “Ijuuin PET Company”, others say that the name is based on an old rival of Capcom, for which the rivalry between Gapcom and IPC would make sense.
