Pre-Code Hollywood Actresses. HELEN TWELVETREES
Helen Twelvetrees (December 25, 1908 – February 13, 1958) was an American theater and film actress, considered a first star in the beginnings of sound cinema. Prototype of "Sad Beauty". The movie Her Man marked the course of Helen's career and she was always asked to play suffering women fighting for the wrong man. She later acted alongside Spencer Tracy in Now I'll Tell (aka When New York Sleeps), 1934, based on a novel by 'Mrs. Arnold Robinson'; alongside Donald Cook in The Spanish Cape Mystery and later she co-starred for Paramount Pictures A Bedtime Story (The Innocent Bachelor), with Maurice Chevalier.
