Unsurprisingly Hidan is my bicycle 😂 I ship him a whole bunch but the ones I actively write are Hidan/OC, KakuHida, HidaIta and HidaObi.

No matter who he’s with, some things never change. Hidan is always going to be the unabashed pursuer and a shameless flirt. His confidence levels are stupid high and when he wants attention or wants to give attention, everyone will know it.

That being said his relationship dynamic is WILDLY different between ships, especially the two ships I fuck with the most XD

With Izumi, my OC and dumb-dumb little cinnamon roll, Hidan is giving big lovable asshole/himbo energy. I absolutely LOVE writing sweetheart Hidan and this ship lets me do that a lot. The vibes are very, like… new-to-romance big dumb jock following around his tiny bookworm girlfriend like a guard dog who is only a good boy for her. He’s still an unruly asshole at his core ofc, and he’ll happily be a dick to anyone else, but that is his girl—do not fuck with her. He is so doting and protective (toxically so, tbh) and excruciatingly clingy and forward (she is so embarrassed all the time), and in bed he is a full on capital T Top—pleasure dom—who loves taking control and watching her fall to pieces. Ngl every time someone tells me that fic made them like Hidan (there are a lot of Hidan haters out there ig??) I gain another year of life.

In KakuHida? lol… he’s not quite as sweet. Hidan is much more combative and demanding, because with Kakuzu you kind of have to be. The old man doesn’t just give out his affection freely, you pretty much have to annoy it out of him, which Hidan is very good at. And if someone fucks with Kakuzu, Hidan’s instinct is not to jump in to defend him. Kakuzu does not require defending, and Hidan thinks it’s hot to watch him in action for a little. He’s less dominant as a partner to Kakuzu—though that’s not to say he’s submissive by any means. They bicker a lot and Hidan is much less likely to express his affections SO openly (verbally), but they are also fun in that way. Showing their affections through actions much more than words. In bed he’s a switch but definitely doesn’t feel the need to guide and praise Kakuzu like he does Izumi lol. He’s definitely meaner in bed with Kakuzu 😂

Hidan is just so fun to write idk, I love how his boisterous personality translates between drastically different partners.

The Voice of God

So... this is actually where I wanted to get to with Yin and Yang (and Part 2) but I got stuck, and then I got impatient, and then I decided fuck it, and wrote this little thing just to get the scene out of my head. So, domestic fluff and kid!fic, HidaIta style.

Itachi woke to the sound of Makoto starting to cry, but before he could do more than sigh at the prospect of getting up, Hidan was already wriggling ungracefully out of bed. A light touch to Itachi’s shoulder as he went was all the reassurance Itachi needed to close his eyes and let the tension seep out of his muscles. He drifted, exhausted in a way he never thought he could be outside of the most intense month-long ANBU missions. The combined effect of terminal illness, a new baby, and Hidan having been gone most of the last two weeks on a mission with Kakuzu.

This was the first time Itachi had been able to leave the middle-of-the-night care-taking duty to someone else, and that fact alone was enough to make the comfort of the mattress feel ten times more blissful than usual. And the fact that Hidan – the sort of person most would expect to run screaming from the concept of a baby, or worse, being responsible for one – had been so ready to relieve Itachi of the burden was another degree added to the curve of his lazy smile.

Only, he realised, as he lingered right on the edge of sleep, Makoto wasn’t calming down. The crying was perhaps less urgent, less of a wail and more of a series of deep sobs, but it most notably hadn’t stopped. Itachi gave it a few more minutes, because Hidan was new at this, and maybe he just needed more time to check all the things that could be wrong, but…

Itachi resigned himself to checking on them both, and climbed out of bed. He padded down the hall on silent feet, and stopped in the doorway to Makoto’s room, arrested by the sight that met him. Hidan was sitting on the rocking chair Itachi had bought, swaying back and forth with Makoto in his arms, an expression of pure rapture on his face. Itachi wasn’t sure he’d ever seen his lover look so peaceful before, and he was loathe to interrupt what was clearly A Moment, but he was… worried about Makoto. She really didn’t sound happy. “Hidan?” He questioned.

Hidan’s eyes flickered open, and his smile widened. “Ain’t it the most beautiful thing you ever heard?” He asked, sounding almost stunned. Awed.

Itachi blinked. He really shouldn’t have been surprised, he thought, wryly, even though it made him even more worried than ever. “Hidan… we can’t leave her like this.” He chided.

“She’s not hungry or dirty, I fucking checked.” Hidan replied, sounding like he wanted to be annoyed at Itachi’s patronising tone, but couldn’t actually muster up the necessary ire. Itachi almost wanted to laugh. No one would believe him if he told them the key to taming Hidan’s infamous hair-trigger temper was to dump a distraught baby in his lap. “She just wants attention, is all.” He sighed blissfully. “Listen to her, sweetheart.” He breathed, eyes closing again. “It’s so fucking pure. So fucking honest.”

Itachi had never really thought of it that way, before, but it was true. Children did have far less inhibitions about expressing themselves than adults. It was only in the very, very worst of circumstances that an adult usually ever let down their defences enough to wail and sob like a child would at the drop of a hat. Sometimes, Itachi thought with self-directed impatience, adults didn’t even manage it when their entire world was falling apart.

“I thought…” Hidan began, unusually quiet, and Itachi refocused to find his lover watching him intently. He hesitated, as though struggling for words. “I thought that I’d never get closer to Jashin-sama than seeing him in your eyes ...without running myself through, anyway.” He confessed. Then he laughed, his usual manic cackle, and ran an infinitely tender finger over Makoto’s cheek. “But then here she is, speaking in the voice of god.”

Itachi huffed a soft, barely-there laugh of his own, because he knew what ‘I never thought I’d love her so much’ sounded like in Hidan’s mouth, and finally moved out of the doorway to join his family. He leaned down to press a kiss to Hidan’s lips, and then further to press another to Makoto’s forehead. Her crying hiccuped with surprise, and then resumed at a quiet but surprisingly piercing whine. “Sacred, baby.” Hidan breathed, bestowing his own kiss on Makoto’s forehead.

Then he began to pray; a soft, melodic stream of worship. It wasn’t quite a song, but it was rhythmic, and as lullabies went, Itachi didn’t think it was so bad.

What are your top 7 favorite ships ever (can be canon or non canon) from any media? Thanks 🌻

Answering this is a little complicated for me because, while I generally just bounce around the same list of ships, I do jump between quite a few different ships depending on my mood and whatnot. I’m indecisive, what can I say? Since I haven’t been in a shipping mood lately (more of a “let’s explore this character’s need for therapy by throwing them in a meat grinder” mood), I’ll just list the ones I most frequently go back to.

For Naruto, NaruSaku and LeeSaku are the ships I most frequently go back to when I’m thinking about canon. But if I’m feeling more cracky: ShinoHina and ChoSaku are both somewhat comfort ships for me, SasuShino in a rivals au (whether they’re platonic or romantic) is also an idea I flip around in my noggin a lot, and KakuDei, KisaSaso, and ItaHida have become my default Akatsuki ships when I’m imagining what them being in/building a healthy relationship might look like. I’ve mentioned a lot more in the past, but these are the big ones.

Outside of Naruto, Royai from fma, DouWata from xxxHolic, and Clois, Batlantern, and TimKon from dc are the only ships I really, properly ship and not just occasionally read fanfic of or scroll through their fandom.

Sorry that this wasn’t really what you asked for, but I didn’t just want to answer with “I’m actually too inconsistent in my opinions to have consistent ships, let alone consistent favorite ships.” If you only count the canon-lens Naruto ships and non-Naruto ships, then I only listed seven.
